Believe it or not, this picture was NOT taken at an ordinary time.
It’s been a few days since I have truly taken the time to admire the summery pictures on my phone. But this one is a different kind of deal. ☝️(and no, not Just because back then we could get our nails done).
In 2019 I had the chance to spend Christmas in Africa with the wildest of the Big Fives Roxane. We were in for a very unusual & exciting trip. I think it wouldn’t have been a disaster to level up our game a bit, & be more focused on not getting lost, but it didn’t seem like the best time to worry about anything - that eventually led us to far more entertaining adventures. Spending some Winter days on an island can do that to you. 🧜‍♀️
PS: Those flowers are the shit. They are white & pure, with a tiny bit of yellow to remind us that life is colorful & vibrant like the sun. ☀️ & so thick they almost seem to be made of plastic. They are everywhere in Thailand too, which made me fall in love with that country too.

No, this one is not mine! 🐢 Did you know that tortoises can grow SO MUCH? I hope my baby turtles will get that colossal one day (they will live forever I’m sure). This one is special though, it is 90 years old, & you can find it in the scorching hot / stunning Prison island in Zanzibar (on the coast of Tanzania, Africa). 🌍
When you think of Zanzibar, I’m sure you already are picturing gorgeous beaches, but also immense resorts & ants-like tourists. At least that’s what I thought it was, until I actually got there. See, it’s NOT touristy at all yet. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to see how empty it was. I am glad I got to see it in its natural state. I hope it stays like that for a long time, cause we’ve seen what tourism can do.
I also loved how locals welcomed us. Have you ever been to a place where you feel like meat? Here locals will greet you, welcome you, try to start a conversation, but at no point I felt insulted or forced to buy anything. Everywhere we turned, people smiled, & made us feel safe. & when 2 women travel together, unfortunately it is not always like that. 🇹🇿
Anyway, if you ever go, don’t miss those huge babies ✈️🏝️
