thinking about... c*nstantine sibs today. the just wide enough age gap that zed was the one zorya always looked to when mom was busy with the show or superheroics, when dad was a world away wrestling with angels. how he taught her to tie her shoes and would walk her to school and was there when she managed her first minor feat of prestidigitation. how she was the first person he felt comfortable being himself around and he's never forgotten the sensation of her saying 'big brother' for the first time, how he carves out time for her no matter what's going on in his life. how they had their names changed the same day because a very young zorya refused to go through life without people knowing that was her brother.

like i'm not saying their parents were bad by any means -- well okay probably john a little, let's be honest -- but they were busy. zed and zorya learning to be there for each other, even into adulthood. having just enough support otherwise it never turned unhealthy, they still have boundaries, but they also have a closer bond than several of their friends and associates do with their own families. they might be a great cosmic joke, the latest in a long line of jesters, but they decided together they're going to have the last laugh.
