new pigment box with foraged and bought earth pigments. I want to use the pigments to create watercolors and acrylic colors on the fly when I make new paintings. The pigments in the upper row I found around my hometown in southwest Germany at Ice Age Moraine sites and Jurassic limestone quarries. The other ones I bought from Kremer Germany mostly. After experimenting with various painting grounds and colors, my favorite mediums are currently earth pigment watercolors and acrylics on cold pressed watercolor paper (Arches fine grain). I use synthetic colors and pigments also, but I found that the earth yellows and reds add a specoal quality to the paintings which no synthetic pigment is able to provide (not even the synthetic iron oxides). It is hard to describe. Those earth pigments are somehow radiating with a warm glow that is kind of magical. It already starts when you are just looking at the raw pigments or even the raw stones or the ferric clays. It catches your mind in a pleasant way. #eartpigments #ochre #ocker #ocher #ironoxides #ironpigments #ironoxidepigments #ferricclay #bohnerz #beanore #ironore #ostrachmoraine #laucherthal #laucherthalbrown #laucherthalocker #jurassicocher #yellow #brown #red #morainepigments #iceagepigments #magicalochre #redochre #persianred #venetianred #roetel #sanguine #soforouge #kremerpigmente #zollernorange #goldochre #burgundyochre #spanishochres #germanochres #ancientpigments #bolus #redbolus #frankishbolus #frankishochre #frenchochre #siena #sienabadia #burntsiena #pompeianred #pompejanred #pompejanischrot #sienayellow https://www.instagram.com/p/B2cNCKpI0xO/?igshid=pj8wopjnbfav
