𒆜 Miscellaneous Brûz Headcanons 𒆜

Brûz, at one point or another, has saved the lives of each of his brothers, which inspired them to swear their loyalty in exchange for being blood brothers. Each of the brothers believe that their story of rescue is the best, making it a frequent point of contest between themselves.

It's actually very rare for Brûz and all his brothers to be in the same place at the same time. Brûz staggers meeting times and even moves locations mid-discussion as a preemptive measure against spies. His brothers don't really understand his methods, but they trust his judgment all the same.

Brûz hates, hates enclosed spaces— especially caves. He is constantly on the move and can't stand being cooped up indoors for long (spacious places like a fort's throne room is just about the only exception). While he might set up some encampments inside caves, he manages everything indirectly through his brothers, only making short in-person appearances when absolutely necessary. If you ask him about it, he'll say it's just too much dusty air making him "dizzy", but really, it's claustrophobia.

Brûz doesn't drink grog much, preferring to drink socially rather than for the sake of the brew itself. He likes keeping his wits about him and sees alcoholism as a form of self-induced slavery in the way many of his peers seem to live for the stuff. He gets a huge kick out of watching others get wasted and make fools of themselves though.

Brûz is an excellent storyteller! Whether it's recounting his many feats of bravery, or making up folktales on the fly, he knows exactly how to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. Whenever a scribe found their way into his ranks, they'd have no shortage of tall tales to scrawl down. Several of his stories gained interregional popularity in Mordor. Eventually, it became a tradition for Brûz to do one of his infamous retellings after hosting a big feast.

had this book for years and its still in great condition, mostly because it keeps fucking vanishing any time i think to actually read about whats in it. popped up again today, taking this so i know i still own it. real interesting stuff on objects like the hope diamond, and places like king tut's tomb.

some thoughts on second gender manifestations

So i'm re reading Chapter 68 and

Considering that even Gakane didn't sense anything, the chance of Jimmy's manifestation seemed exceptionally low, but one never knew. If Jimmy were to manifest as an Alpha, it wouldn't be a concern. But if he manifested as an Omega, there was a chance that Gakane, being an Alpha, could be affected. 'Well… I will just have to keep a closer eye to ensure that doesn’t happen.' Even if such an event occurred, it was enough to isolate it. While it might have been different if it was Kishiar, who was concealing an immense power that could not even be fully comprehended, Yuder was confident that he could easily isolate individuals of Gakane and Jimmy's caliber alone.

can we linger on this for a second. Please. Yuder, the kid is twelve. You just spent the previous chapter going "as long as there's no murder or anything else emotionally damaging, I can take him along" so you clearly see him as a child. Orr does not seem to practice even engaging people before they are of age if we look at Keilusa and Katchian. (yeah, they're like the highest of nobility, but still.)

is the implication really that second gender manifestations, regardless of age of one of the people involved, has resulted in assault or is this Yuder's past trauma bias showing through?

Because if so, that makes Yuder's discussion with Kishiar about needing regulation and in particular this section from the same chapter particularly sinister?

In his previous life, Yuder had gone through a lot of trouble to push through regulations and laws related to the second gender, against the opposition of greedy nobles. Back then, there were hardly any scholars conducting proper research on the abilities and physical changes of the Awakeners, and it was nearly impossible for the leader of the Cavalry, who came from a commoner background, to correct misconceptions and prejudice alone.

Like, there were barely any laws in the first place, and the ones implemented later apparently came only because Yuder was being pushy about it, but that probably took years. This is painting frankly speaking an incredibly horrifying picture and we're not even taking into consideration the whole sexual slavery thing that did happen that Yuder briefly mentions a couple hundred chapters later. Bestie, I need you to elaborate here I am screaming.

Ocker’s Circular Cast-On.

Make a loop near the yarn end. (I have the tail under the loop here, but I don’t think this is vital.)

Using a crochet hook, *chain one into the loop with the working yarn. (The first chain looks the worst, having no firm structure yet, but only temporarily.)

Chain one into the new chain stitch. Leave the stitch on the crochet hook and continue.*

Repeat * to * until you have the number of stitches you need.

Transfer stitches to DPNs (or another knitting needle as called fro by whatever you’re working on; sometimes I use this cast-on as a really short/gathered cast-on for flat knitting, and in those cases, the pattern instructions will call for you to work flat). Incidentally, this step can be made much easier if you’ve got crochet hooks that are built like a straight smooth stick, with no ergonomics or ornamentation—you can just slide the stitches off the non-hooked end to transfer to the relevant needle.

Once that’s done, pull the tail drawstring-style (be kind of gentle with a delicate yarn) to draw the center together, and you’ve got a nice beginning for work from the center out!

(I’m going to pull mine apart. You may be able to see why. It’s completely unfinished yarn, but it’s been on the bobbin so long the twist is pretty inert.)
