Here are two of my BOTW oc’s. I used a pose reference for Arosa who is a Gerudo and I found a Zora base I used for Mero (found here: https://www.deviantart.com/zozorarara/art/BOTW-Female-Zora-Base-740428080) She is queen over some Sea-living zoras in a AU me and my girlfriend is having. She is loosely based on a Lantern Shark.  I have a few more, at least two or three more Gerudos, a Rito, Two hylians and a Goron. I can’t draw well so yeah. We will see if they will get references.

My problem as an artist

In general, I struggle with free drawing and just doing whatever--I always feel like I have to draw something specific, else I lose focus and inspiration. I’ve always been envious of artists who can just doodle without much direction.

And because my time is so limited, I always run into this problem:

For example; I find myself suddenly inspired to draw something mermaid-ish. Now do I draw something completely original (which by itself is a huge range of design decisions to make), or do I draw fan-art of something like Mero from Monster Musume, or Primarina from Pokemon, or some Zora from the Zelda series; and in the case of pokemon, do I draw how they normally appear, or something more anthro? (I have that problem a lot with ponies). And for some these I also have to ask, NSFW or not? Do I make something just for fun, or do I make something that could eventually be a print to sell?

And then it happens--I become paralyzed with indecision. Even if I force myself commit to just anything, I start to second guess myself and the art loses focus. And then I just stare at a blank page with some starting scribbles and get frustrated doing nothing.

This is frankly my biggest hurdle as an artist and I haven’t figured out how to get past it. And now I’m here at two in the morning venting my frustration to the internet. XD
