Golden hour on the way to Apeldoorn
Here with 257 Harry in front, and 372 Hannes behind us. And a celebratory blast of the air horn (or typhoon as wel call it in Dutch) to herald the start of the day. 6:12 in the morning, and the very first Arriva train departs from Zutphen station. As driver you’ll have to be there a bit earlier though; all the trains are still asleep and it takes a little time for them to start up. But getting up early is well worth the beautiful views.
A little video to celebrate being very nearly almost done with my train driver’s course. I’d actually passed all my exams a few weeks back, just been waiting on my driver’s license so to speak. It should come next week. I’m excited but also nervous - it’s a big responsibility and it’ll be my first time all alone! But hopefully the trains all behave and things go well. Hope you’ll enjoy this little view from my workplace.

PS. The first video is mine, the original sound had my mum talking on it so I removed the sound but it's a long video and I struggle to pay attention without sound so I added a song in the background in case others need audial stimulation too. It's U.F.O. by Coldplay, it's not in theme but it's the best I could do with the songs I have saved on my phone.

zandlopers

The Model Maker: Constant Williams (2023) – 4 stars
Director: John Post
Running time: 56mins
You wait a lifetime for a supremely nerdy hour-long documentary on historical model making, and two come along at once. Like Dinoman, which I reviewed earlier this week, The Model Maker: Constant Williams follows a single-minded Dutch artist, who tirelessly builds a gigantic piece of art from tiny, complex materials, and like Jeroen Stultiens before him,…
