jrvwon:
it took a moment for jiwon to put two-and-two together. one moment he’d been alone of the roof, watching the flame from his lighter burn the rolling paper and the next, someone was bent over in front of him. he laughed a little at the kid’s enthusiasm, figuring it was probably a trainee eager to get a glimpse of a traxx member. he was a little frustrated that he had to be traxx’s jiwon again when the whole reason he’d come up there in the first place was to escape all those expectations.
but then, much to his surprise, the trainee was sitting down next to him. jiwon didn’t say anything, just quirked an eyebrow as he took another drag from the joint, holding the smoke in his lungs until he felt a cough threatening to overtake him, finally exhaling a thinned out cloud. “how old are you, kid?” he asked, giving the boy a long once-over. “and what’s your name?” he felt a little bad that he didn’t already know it, but figured there was no time like the present to find out. besides, he was still trying to decide if he should share his weed with this trainee. on the one hand, he had no problem sharing his stuff – sharing was caring, after all. but on the other hand, jiwon was a seasoned idol. he had an established fanbase and he was part of a popular group. when he’d had his drug scandal, it had rocked traxx, for sure. but it hadn’t ruined them. this kid had yet to debut – if he got caught smelling of weed or with bloodshot eyes during practice, his career would be over before it even had a chance to begin. “you ever smoked before?”
‘what’s your name?’ the question causes him to deflate a little. his name. had taichi trained for six years, endlessly fluttering around like the most social little butterfly in the world, just for his labelmates to not even know his name? it, irrationally, hurts his feelings. but he’d never let that show. “i’m taichi. or tye, is what the label want people to call me if i debut.” he says brightly. “and i’m twenty!” well. he’s almost twenty.
taichi hasn’t smoked weed before. he’d never seen weed before. still, though, he nods his head, eyebrows raising just slightly in a relaxed manner (this is casual, so he looks very casual.) and he says; “yeah, i smoke with my cousin all the time.” with a convincing sort of ease, despite the fact both his parents are only children. he doesn’t give himself time to wonder when he’d gotten so good at telling lies, he just leans back on his hands, trying not to look too eager. eager isn’t cool. “i’m not going to blackmail you into sharing or anything.” he says, in a way that sounds (hopefully) dismissive. because it’s no big deal, obviously. “i’ve just had a long day.” okay, that part, at least, is honest.

rvmatty:
“i think so– and here i thought i grew out of my clumsy phase…” matty sighed, cheeks bright red
“hey, it happens to the best of us-” taichi freezes as he catches a better look at the other’s face, and realises just who he’s talking to. “oh my god.” he drops into a bow. reign had been his favourite group since he was eight years old, and he admired the new members just as much as the former lineup. “i know this is going to be super awkward, but like, it’s so cool to meet you.”

rvyeong:
Yeong wasn’t the biggest fan of going over to the Spotlight complex, like… at all. Every time it just brought up bad memories, but work was still work and for whatever reason the script reading for the show he was going on happened to be held in Spotlight’s building. Yeong had missed the wet floor sign completely when he stepped into the lobby, ultimately slipping and falling forward, but he thankfully braced the fall with his hands. “Aish, who would’ve seen that…” Yeong said, sitting on the floor for a moment and testing his wrists to see if he hadn’t dislocated anything, while he shot a glare at the sign. “Yes, I’m fine.”
taichi frowns as he looks at the sign, awkwardly shuffling a little. he hadn’t recognised the other until now; and hadn’t realised he was in the presence of a senior; no less one with such a complicated history with the company. taichi had missed training alongside yeong by a couple of years; but between taking interest in fan theories and gossiping with staff members, he’d done a pretty good job at piecing the comapny’s lore together. “uh...” he mutters, clearly uncomfortable. “should i report that to the building? it’s not very safe...”

rvjaemi:
“it looked pretty real, huh?” jaemi answers with a wicked grin. “physical comedy kills on variety shows. i’ve been practicing…”
“and here i thought physical comedy wasn’t my thing.” taichi says, laughing bashfully. “but i guess it really does do the trick! you really didn’t hurt yourself?”

“ i’m fine! ” minji snaps, pushing herself onto her feet with a huff. “ don’t try and act like you care, ” she insists, grumpily brushing off her skirt. “ you didn’t even offer to help! ”
if there’s one thing that causes taichi to just shut down, it’s aggression. “sorry.” he mutters, scratching the back of his head. “i laugh when i’m nervous. it just caught me off guard.”

chaesung stood, brushing the dust off his black jeans. he tried to ignore the way his cheeks suddenly felt much hotter than the rest of his face, no doubt in his mind that they were currently pink. “i’m fine, just.” he searched for the right word, wrinkling his nose. “clumsy, i guess. still haven’t gotten used to having such long limbs, my mom says.” he winced. shut the hell up, chaesung.
“ah...” taichi nods; he knows a little bit about that himself. he isn’t quite as tall as the other, but is taller than he looks, and he’d spent a lot of his life tripping over himself. “i know what you mean.” he grins, offer out a hand to help the man to his feet. “you sure you’re okay? you didn’t hurt yourself, right?”

“instead of laughing at me, you should come help me up,” bianca whined, sitting dramatically on the floor and pouting. “what kind of gentleman watches a girl fall and just sits and laughs at her? shame on you.”
“ah... you’re right, i’m sorry! it just caught me off guard.” he bows his head slightly in apology, extending a hand to the other, offering to help her to her feet. “i didn’t mean to laugh, i promise!”

“my pride is a little bruised, but i’ll survive,” minsuk snorted. “i can’t get this move. i’ve been trying to hit it for like an hour…”
“therein lies the problem. you’re probably too in your head. sometimes you need to move on and revisit when you’re in a better mindset.” taichi probably shouldn’t be offering advice to a higher trainee, you know, the enemy, but he never was one to see black and whites in the world. “let’s go get a snack, and then i can try help you out, if you’d like.”

“i’m fine, but i’m tough. i’m more worried about my tablet,” grayson admitted with a little smile, going to his backpack where he kept his equipment.
“technology is made pretty tough, these days, right? i’m sure it’ll be fine-” he cuts himself off, making a disapproving noise. “hey, you’re more important than a tablet! you’re really not hurt?”

rvhyunsik:
“Aish, keep it down then if it’s true,” Hyunsik hissed. He wasn’t sure just how much he believed that, but Tye was training with Spotlight much longer than him. “I didn’t get one, I just saw one and I was thinking a lot about it.”
“hey, you never know unless you ask!” taichi was pretty sure that pets were against contract for sure; but instilling hope in others is his job as a (to-be-)idol, right? “out of curiosity, what would you name it? i’m good at coming up with names, if you need help!”

don’t laugh, don’t laugh, don’t laugh. “are you-” a giggle breaks free, erupting from his throat, soon muffled by his hands. “sorry! i shouldn’t laugh. you just fell so suddenly. are you okay?”

“well... spotlight is pretty on top of things. i wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow bugged us and were listening to our conversation.” he laughs, before looking off into a vague distance, waving his hands. “hey spotlight! if you’re listening, can he keep his hedgehog?”
“I’m not saying that I’m did, but theoretically if I wanted to rescue a hedgehog, how long do you think it would take for Spotlight to find out and give her away?” Hyunsik mused. “They wouldn’t be so cruel, right? Like, they wouldn’t keep a little hedgie from a nice home, right?”

“hey, i totally agree.” taichi smiles encouragingly. having trained alongside nana at spotlight, he was nothing but proud of his labelmate; plus, he genuinely thinks it’s a good song. “everyone did well, and it’s a little too limiting to expect you girls to only make certain genres of music because of your looks, or whatever.. no oh oh is great! the message is good, and it has that nineties vibe.”
“i don’t care what any netizen says,” she starts, turning her phone off after reading a few comments. “no oh oh is a great song and perfect debut. it’s catchy, and fun, and right up my alley.”

it was a tiresome little life, to be okabayashi taichi. as much as he’d die before he let it show, it took his toll on him to be so on all the time. he was always smiling, always cracking jokes, always shouldering everyone else’s emotions no matter which side of the bed he woke up on that morning. and today, thanks for asking, he got out of the wrong side. (metaphorically, of course, his bed is pushed up against the wall.) he’d been grumpy and oversensitive all day, and keeping up his happy, ever-unaffected persona had been especially juggernaut. he just needed to breathe.
the first thing that hits him is the smell. it’s unfamiliar to him, but he quickly knits together a conclusion when he spots his source - and the person puffing on said source. jiwon... well, taichi can be a little judgemental, but even without the extensive homework he’d done on his label-mates, it’s a preceding reputation.complete foreigner to drugs of any sort taichi may be, it’s not a difficult puzzle to solve. he freezes for a second, before dropping into a ninety-degrees bow. he’s still a trainee. he knows about hierarchy, and catching a senior red handed comes far in second place behind making a good impression. taichi is not going to lecture jiwon. taichi wants jiwon to think he’s cool. perhaps that’s why, when he sits on the ground next to jiwon, he tilts his head and gives a smile that shows not one trace of his internal freak out (oh my god taichi what are you doing this is stupid this is the stupidest thing you will ever do in your whole life-) ”you know the rules, right?” he says in a way that almost sounds teasing, trying his best to sound like this is what he does, like this is nothing to him. “if you get caught, you gotta share with the class.”
sometimes, jiwon just needed to get away from everything for a little bit. he usually didn’t mind that everyone saw him as the fuck-up of traxx because, for the most part, it was the truth. but even he got tired of the way people looked at him like he was a disappointment, or like he was just barely above the dog shit stuck to the bottom of their shoes. after being chewed out by one of traxx’s managers yet again, he’d managed to slip out of the conference room and make his way to the spotlight building’s roof. he’d discovered this spot as a trainee and had yet to show it to anyone else – his own quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of idol culture. lying down so nobody would spot him from the ground below, jiwon pulled a blunt and a lighter out of his pocket, lighting it and taking his first hit. just as he started to exhale, he heard the door to the roof swing open.

OOC : ♡
hello ! so, my internet provider picked the day i got accepted to have an area-wide outage, but everything seems to be fixed now! i’m yaya, this is my first character in this rp so i’m super stoked to get writing here! this is taichi, lil spotlight trainee who’s been training for the past six years who’s, at this point, just desperate to get tf on stage! under the cut, i’ll give some loose info, but i’ve found, ironically, my best muses have developed as i write them rather than when i overload them to begin with, so there’s not much to him yet!
taichi has that golden boy vibe ; he’s probably not the best at anything out of the trainees, but his charm can carry him along just fine! even without that though, he is a very good dancer; though he can face issues with stamina due to health issues he had as a child.
which can affect his singing live whilst dancing, and he’s not saying he needs to lipsync, but y’know, if everyone else is doing it....
he can be a very self-deprecating regarding his intelligence, but he’s clearly very clever, and especially very socially smart. he does struggle with some learning disorders, but i want to make it very clear as a mun that his insecurity about that & his perception of himself as unintelligent is not me trying to say that learning disorders have any baring on that! i have a few of my own, though, and especially when you start to feel insecure about that it does take a toll on your self esteem a little. i just don’t want to be misunderstood on that part.
he doesn’t have a whole lot of hobbies outside of music anymore; this is everything to him. this, however, often makes him worry that he’s very boring. training at a company like spotlight for six years, though, he really hasn’t had much time to get into anything else.
basically, maybe this is reflective of my desire to let him develop a bit more naturally, but his first sort of obstacle/story arc is that he really doesn’t know who he is anymore. were he to be dropped from the label tomorrow, he has no idea what he’d do with himself; probably audition to every other label in the country. a large part of his being withheld from debut is that he has the skill, yes, but he doesn’t have a particularly clear point of view or marketable personality. while he’s friendly and gets along with most people he meets, he needs to figure out how to tap into that much more interesting taichi that’s inside of him and really come into his own. having told himself at a young age that he’s going to have to base his life on making connections and being likeable (again, he doesn’t rate himself very high on talent or intelligence,) he’s kind of hidden himself away out of a need for everyone he meets to like him.
the aforementioned point has given him a few bad habits, such as copying people he finds cool, regurgitating impressive things other people have said to him, pretending to be knowledgeable about their interests and even, on occasion, straight up lying to impress/endear himself to others. bad habits! ones that hopefully we can break him out of as i write with everyone and hopefully get him some good influences- or some bad ones who inspire him to lead a less sheltered and stuffy life!
aaaand that’s about it! taichi mission one: learning to be an individual.
