Monday comes around quickly, after a Saturday spent with Kirishima and a Sunday spent playing Pokemon SoulSilver. For the record, you beat the nuzlocke with the help of Bakugou the Typhlosion, your starter.
The morning classes go as usual, and you’re happy to make your notes look prettier. Lunch is spent with Shinsou again, and you don’t notice the sad looks you get from Kirish---Eiji and Neito when you choose the purple haired boy over them.
When hero courses come in the afternoon, Aizawa-sensei announces 1v1s. Because of the odd number of students, you’re paired with Sensei. For once, you take a while to get out to the training grounds---or even out of class---as you’re busy scanning through your collection of Pokemon figures.
You keep them in clear cases that are separated in different slots. You’re pretty sure it’s usually used for beads or craft things, but you use them to organise your 3d printed Pokemon figurines. Knowing you’re going to spar against Aizawa, you decide to put together a team that will hopefully work well against him.
Aizawa is a Normal-Psychic type, meaning he’s immune to Ghost attacks because of the Normal typing. It also means his Normal Attacks, however, will do nothing to Ghost types. You figure using a Ghost type with few Ghost type moves will be helpful. Other than that, he’s double weak to Bug and Dark type moves.
Aizawa-sensei likely has high Special Defense, so Physical Attacks will be best.
“Aizawa-sensei?” you call out before he exits the classroom. He hums and stops. “Can I touch your skin?”
“What?” He looks at you with an incredulous expression.
“It’s for my quirk,” you elaborate, and he holds out his arm, tugging his sleeve up. You touch his wrist for a moment and gather his stats. “Thanks, Sensei.”
Aizawa-Sensei base stats: HP: 80 Attack: 110 Defense: 45 Special Attack: 80 Special Defense: 85 Speed: 60
He’s got a Quiet nature, which raises his Special Attack but lowers his Speed. At level 82, his stats are:
HP: 231 Attack: 198 Defense: 137 Special Attack: 162 Special Defense: 159 Speed: 128
Ghost with few Ghost type moves, Bug, and Dark types will be your friend today. You pull out the corresponding boxes and grab your Pokemon.
Chandelure,
Tumblr media
Absol,
Tumblr media
Jellicent,
Tumblr media
Scolipede,
Tumblr media
Weavile,
Tumblr media
and Sableye.
Tumblr media
“Your arm is all healed, it’s not gonna be fair anymore,” you pout, finally getting to the training grounds. You’re still not last, though.
“You get to use your quirk,” he says.
“You can remove mine!” you counter. “What even happens if I have a Pokemon out and you erase my quirk? Hey, sensei, try it out!”
You dig through your pouch and pull out Sableye, conjuring him. Sensei sighs and removes your quirk, causing Sableye to return to you immediately.
“I see
”
“Alright,” Aizawa moves on, seeing as everyone arrives with Kaminari coming in. “Similar to the battles with All Might, you’ll be fighting in the fake city and we’ll be watching. Afterwards, we’ll analyse the battle. Since it’s in the fake city, feel free to use your quirks as much as you like. The win condition
Is surrendering or immobilising for 10 seconds.”
The first pair to fight is Sero and Kaminari. Aizawa says ‘start,’ and immediately, Sero wraps his tape around Kaminari, immobilising him. Kaminari lets out a burst of electricity, helping him free, and he retaliates. You watch them fight while also coming up with strategies to fight against Aizawa.
When the two get back, Aizawa and Yaoyorozu chew them out, telling them how to improve and what they did wrong, respectively.
Sero ends up winning via immobilisation after Kaminari overuses his quirk. The next pair is Yaoyorozu and Tokoyami. Yaoyorozu panics, and Tokoyami uses his Dark Shadow to take advantage and overwhelm her with attacks, winning. The battle is just long enough for you to assign the proper moves to all the Pokemon.
“You need to learn how to act in battle,” Aizawa says to Yaoyorozu. “Tokoyami, if you had been against anyone else, that wouldn’t have worked.”
Yaoyorozu’s shoulders sag, and she sucks her lips in, determined to do better.
Then, it’s you and Aizawa-sensei.
“I’ll watch the footage back, so don’t think you’re off the hook, [Y/N].”
The class is shocked at his use of your first name, but you just stick your tongue out.
“Yeah, yeah. But if I win, you should buy me ice cream.”
“Whatever.”
When you get out to the battle stage, you conjure Chandelure, a ghost fire type.
Tumblr media
“Start!” he barks out, and you send Chandelure in front of Aizawa, blocking his vision. While he readies his capture weapon, you get the chance to get Chandelure to use a move.
“Chandelure!” you call out. “Use Fire Spin!”
The Pokemon twirls in the air and blasts fire towards Aizawa. A ring of blazing flames surrounds him, blocking his vision. Even as he tries to avoid them, the ring follows him, a fiery vortex. He won’t be able to use his quirk from the flames blocking his vision directly, but he’ll still be able to tell where everyone is. He just can’t see you, so he can’t remove your quirk.
Aizawa sends an attack at Chandelure, a normal attack with his capture weapon. Because of the normal typing, Chandelure is unaffected. The Capture weapon passes right through the Ghost type.
Your teacher looks surprised and grits his teeth as the fire around him burns him, taking away 1/8th of his health. The vortex from the Fire Spin will last 7 turns, since you gave Chandelure a Grip Claw, which lengthens the vortex.
You take Absol out, conjuring the dark typed Pokemon.
Tumblr media
Absol has an insanely high attack, but lower stats for everything else.
“Absol, use Dark Pulse!”
A wave of darkness flutters through the air, hitting Aizawa through the flames. He clicks his tongue and tries to fight back, but he flinches, making him unable to fight.
“Chandelure, use Will-O-Wisp!”
Will-O-Wisp has an 85% chance to hit, and in this case, the 15% chance happens. Chandelure misses, and Aizawa takes more damage from the vortex of fire.
This time, Aizawa strikes first, and through the flames, he approximates where your Pokemon are. He attacks Absol, after realising he can’t attack Chandelure. Absol is wrapped in Aizawa’s capture weapon, and Absol struggles in the capture weapon.
Aizawa swings his capture weapon, Absol along with it, and smashes the Pokemon into the street so hard the street starts to crumble. And then he swings his capture weapon again, and smashes him on the ground again.
“A multi-strike attack! Absol!” you cry out. Absol is left with a sliver of HP left, and you shake your head. “Absol, use Memento!”
Memento is a move that sharply lowers the opponent’s Attack and Special Attack, but at the cost of the user’s consciousness. Absol faints, but Aizawa’s attacks won’t do nearly as much damage.
Aizawa leaps upwards, his capture weapon flowing around him through the flames. He aims for where you are, and you panic. You conjure Weavile in a frenzy, the Pokemon getting wrapped in the capture weapon instead of you.
Tumblr media
You whimper at the thought of the smaller creature getting pummeled, just as Absol had.
“Weavile! Use Night Slash!”
With its claws, Weavile attempts to tear through the capture weapon. It doesn’t work, but he does manage to use enough force to loosen its grip on him since Aizawa’s attack was lowered from Memento. He falls, but lands easily with a roll.
Aizawa goes to attack Weavile again, but Weavile is way faster.
“Weavile, Night Slash again!”
Weavile lunges forwards, attacking Aizawa. Night Slash is a Dark type move. It’s physical and is already pretty powerful. With Weavile’s extremely high attack plus the STAB bonus of being dark type, the Night Slash leaves Aizawa knocked to the ground, panting.
Aizawa gets ready for another attack, getting up back to his feet, but the flames around him make him dizzy. He struggles to take deep breaths, and he falls back on his butt.
“Chandelure, come back! Weavile, good! Absol, great job!” The three Pokemon, one of which had fainted on the ground, return to you with a glow. Thankfully, Absol hadn’t been absolutely ripped to shreds, so the repercussions of him fainting weren’t nearly as bad as they had been with Camerupt.
“Alright, kid. I surrender.”
You help him up, using your entire body weight to help pull him up.
“You’re a smart kid, [Y/N].”
You grin. “Thanks, Aizawa!”
You walk with the man back to the screen room, where the class is waiting.
“[Y/N], that was so manly!” Eiji greets, waving. “You’re amazing.”
“Thanks!”
“[L/N]-san,” Yaoyorozu starts. “You did very well. I have much to learn from you.”
Your eyes soften. “Yaoyorozu, we all have a lot to learn. That’s why we’re here: to grow.”
She smiles. “You can call me Yaomomo,” she offers, and you nod.
“You got it, Yaomomo!”
“I can’t believe you actually won,” Midoriya gushes. “Against Aizawa-sensei, no less!”
“Oi, fight me [Y/N]! I could beat your ass,” Bakugou hisses.
The class stills for a moment.
“Did you just call me [Y/N]?” you ask, tilting your head.
His face glows red. “You told me to call you that, extra!” he yells.
“No, not extra again! [Y/N] works, [Y/N] works!”
“Thought so, extra,” he spits.
“[Y/N], you did well,” Aizawa says, rolling his shoulders. “Gave me a run for my money. Keep in mind, you won’t be able to plan a team for each opponent every time.”
“Yes, Sensei!”
He glares at you.
“Sorry, Aizawa-sensei.”
____
The week slides by, and you’re so focused on designing a weapon of your own. Friday can’t come soon enough, and once it finally does, you’re practically bouncing with excitement. Even after sparring with Aizawa, where you lose on both offense and defense still, you’re filled with energy.
“What’s got you so excited?” he grumbles, taking a sip of water.
“You said we can talk about a weapon for me. I have an idea.”
He cocks an eyebrow and nods. “You have been getting stronger
 What are you thinking?”
“Knives and guns!” you say excitedly.
Aizawa blinks, then pinches the bridge of his nose.
“Okay, okay. Hear me out. First of all, I don’t intend on making the guns lethal. Instead, I want to conjure them in a way that will use stuff like electricity or ice. I tested it out a little bit, and I can make bullets that don’t do too much damage, but once they hit, the thing they hit is covered in ice.”
This catches his attention. “And the knives?”
“Same thing, kind of. When the blades make contact with something with enough force, jolts of electricity come out, or the thing it comes in contact with freezes,” you explain.
He hums. “That works. How do you intend on handling ammo?”
“Well, you know how these figurines let me conjure the Pokemon immediately?” He nods. “If I make it so the gun lets me conjure ammo immediately, I can conjure the bullets immediately and already loaded. I want to make it so one or two guns work, where I can turn a wheel or something that sets it to the different types of bullets.”
He takes a deep breath, thoughtful as he takes in what you’re saying. “I’ll have you work with someone in the Support Department to get that made.”
You gleam. “Thank you, Aizawa! And you owe me an ice cream.”
“Yeah, whatever. Go get changed.”
When you get back to the classroom, Aizawa is waiting, scrolling through his phone. You grab your backpack and follow him out.
“Woah, you have a car?” you say, sliding into the passenger seat.
“No, this isn’t my car. I’m stealing it.”
“I always knew you weren’t a hero. No hero sleeps in yellow sleeping bags. Green sleeping bags are clearly better.”
He scoffs, and you take it as his own form of showing amusement. You watch the buildings pass as he drives, and it’s actually pretty calming. The car stops at an ice cream shop, and you get out.
“Get whatever you want,” he says, opening the door. He doesn’t hold it open for you, though, and the glass door nearly smacks you in the face.
You order your ice cream, and happily eat it. He sits with you at a dainty little table outside, and you figure you must look like the strangest pair. While you enjoy the sweet treat, a red feather falls onto the table from up high.
You pick it up and twirl it around, but Aizawa scolds you.
“It could be diseased,” he says knowingly. “Honestly, it probably is diseased. Don’t touch weirdo’s feathers.”
You tilt your head, and catch Aizawa’s gaze going past you. You look behind you and find a tall man standing, with large red wings on his back.
“Oh, you’re Hawks! The pro, yeah?” you ask, continuing to eat your ice cream. “Are you slacking off?”
Aizawa let’s a huff out through his nose, amused.
“I would never!” he declares. “I simply wanted to check on my dear friend Eraserhead.”
“You two are friends? Aizawa-sensei, if I become an underground hero like you, do I have to be friends with idiots too?”
“What the heck!” Hawks exclaims, and Aizawa almost laughs.
“Unfortunately, there’s no avoiding them. They’re too stupid to take a hint,” he replies, and you giggle.
“Sorry, Hawks-sensei. I joke, promise!”
“Oi, no need to call me sensei. I’m no teacher. I’m not that old,” Hawks scolds, sending a look to Aizawa.
“You’re not? I couldn’t tell,” you joke, and Hawks puts a hand over his chest dramatically.
“You wound me, kid.”
“I’m good at wounding pros,” you say with a proud smile.
“You’re good at a lot of things,” Aizawa says, surprisingly.
“I love seeing wholesome father-daughter friendships,” Hawks jokes. Aizawa glares at the bird man, and he just chuckles. “Hey, kid, I hear a lot about you. You oughta show up in the Sports Festival, got it? I got bets on you,” he murmurs the last part.
You hear it and grin anyway. “You chose a good one to bet on! I’ll show you that much.”
He ruffles your hair, and you lean up into his touch, basking in the feeling of approval.
“I’m off. Take good care of your kids, Eraser,” he bids farewell, and with a big flap of his wings, he’s gone.
“Aizawa-sensei, will I really have to be friends with big pros?”
He cocks an eyebrow. “What’s up with you and wanting to be an underground hero, anyway. You got the personality to make it big,” he comments.
“I just
I want to be a hero so I can save people, and I don’t want to make a lot of money.”
You think of your parents and shake your head.
“Money is a load of crap. I just want to survive.”
Your teacher hums, and you can tell he’s got a lot on his mind.
“Finish up your ice cream so I can take you home,” is all he says.

You wake up sore from fighting Aizawa yesterday, and you struggle to move. Warm strands of light beam through your curtains, the only light source in your room. Rolling on your side to reach for your phone is only natural, and you squint your eyes at the bright light of your screen.
A text from Kirishima:
2pm today work? ill meet you at the mall?
sounds good see you there
It’s 8am, way earlier than you’d like to be up, but you figure you’ll have too much trouble falling back to sleep, so you get up and stretch. Had it not been Saturday, you’d start your morning with a jog and weight training, but today is a rest day. Booting up your computer, you launch Pokemon SoulSilver on DeSmuMe and start a new nuzlocke run.
Admittedly, it’s not your favourite iteration in the series, but it’s the first one you’ve ever played, and it holds a special place in your heart.
Busy with video games throughout the morning, you don’t actually start your day until around 1pm, when you take a quick shower and get dressed for the day. You look in the mirror and approve of your simple outfit: a pastel bubble skirt in your favourite colour with a white trim, alongside a loose black t-shirt tucked into your skirt. You hum and decide to add a pair of black thigh highs to the outfit, and with the addition of a bag to match your skirt, you’re ready to go.
You slip on shoes and toss a few things in your bag, then head out.
Playing music in your head, you hum along as you walk down the road with a smile on your face. You arrive at the mall after a 20 minute walk, and for once, you’re early. It’s only 1:52, but you see bright red hair poking out through the crowd and find you’ve still arrived second.
“Kirishima!” you call out, and he turns around and spots you. He grins and waves, then nearly gets pushed over by the crowd. You gesture your head to the side, and you both make your way to an open space to talk.
“[L/N]! I’m really happy you came.” He brushes himself off and takes a look at you, turning red. “You look gramazing! I mean great! I mean amazing!” His face explodes into red as he shakes his head, trying to refresh himself. Calmer, he reiterates, “You look both great and amazing.”
You chuckle. “Aren’t you sweet? Thanks, you look great, too! Black looks so nice on you,” you say, referring to his loose black tee and baggier black pants. It even has a chain on it!
“Thanks, I wasn’t sure what to wear. I wasn’t sure you’d like it.”
“I really like the style,” you admit. “It’s good to see you in casual clothes instead of the uniform.”
“You too! Hey, let’s walk around a bit, yeah?”
“Sounds good.”
You wander and chat, occasionally going into shops. The first time you stop is at a pretzel stand, and you both get mini pretzel bits. You decide on cinnamon, and he gets plain salt just for variety. Realistically, though, you both end up eating out of each other's bags just as much as your own.
There’s a weapons store the two of you stop into, and you look at all of the knives and swords they have for sale. They’re all very decorative, but clearly well sharpened and crafted. Kirishima finds interest in a beautiful set of knuckle dusters that gleam shades of red.
Your eyes wander to a dagger whose blade gleams blue, matching the blue metal strands that wrap around the handle in a careful manner. It would match Vaporeon well, you think, and you have a realisation. Your custom capture weapons can be based around your Pokemon. Whips, or guns, or maces, or knives or swords or---a hundred thoughts are running through your mind. It hits you all at once, and then the idea pops through the sift.
“Hey, [L/N], you’re pumped,” Kirishima comments, eyes following your gaze to the knife. “You thinking about getting it?”
“Oh, no, I was just kinda spacing out. I have a pretty cool idea for a weapon to use.”
Kirishima looks excited for you, and he grins, patting your back. “Nice! I can’t wait to see it in action!”
“Thanks, Kiri! Are you gonna get anything, or are you good to go?”
“I’m good to go. Got any stores in mind you wanna visit?” he asks, trying to ignore the little nickname you gave him and how much he loves hearing it come out of your mouth.
“Hm, let’s just keep walking around. I kind of like going into whatever shops I think are interesting.”
Finishing your pretzels, you toss the bags in the nearest garbage can and keep walking around. There’s a Disney store you go into, a China shop with all types of little cat figurines, and finally, Build-A-Bear.
You get a simple brown bear with a white patch on its tummy, along with a little red flower behind its ear. Kirishima gets a similar looking one, but with a flower in your favourite colour behind its ear. You were worried he might think you to be childish for liking the plushies, but he seems to enjoy holding his close as you walk to the food court.
You both get large pizza slices for an early dinner and sit at a table, giving each of your teddy bears their own seat.
“Hey, maybe we could hang at my house for a bit?” Kirishima suggests in between bites.
“Sounds fun! Let’s get going soon, so we get there before dark.”
After visiting one more store, where you try on a few hats and goof around trying to put hats over Kiri’s hair, you head out and walk to Kirishima’s house. The walk is nice, and you’re glad to chat with him without a big crowd around you two. It’s just a little awkward to talk about some stuff when there’s a shopkeep waiting for you to buy something.
On the walk to his house, you decide on names for your teddy bears. They’re both named Breloom, for two very different reasons. Yours is named Shiny Breloom because Shiny Breloom is red, just like the red flower behind the teddy’s ear, plus Breloom is a Grass and Fighting type. Grass like a flower, and fighting like heroes and villains!
Kirishima’s is named Breloom because he couldn’t think of any other name, and when you conjure Breloom so he can meet them, he took a very big liking to them, and they to him.
He’s sad when Breloom has to return, but you promise you’ll conjure them up again once you get to his house. When you arrive at his home, his parents welcome him and you in.
“Awh, is this who you were on a date with today? It’s so nice to meet you, [L/N], our Eiji talks about you a lot!” his mum dotes, and Kiri’s face glows.
“Mom!”
“It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Kirishima. Your home is lovely, I’m very honoured to meet you,” you say, bowing slightly and slipping off your shoes.
“Oh, honey, she’s so polite too!”
“Yes, yes. Let the kids be,” Mr. Kirishima says. “Call for us if you need anything,” he says, letting you and Kiri go upstairs.
“You can sit on my bed, if you like. Here, let me turn on the TV,” he says, reaching for the remote. You take a seat on his soft bed, taking in the sight of his room.
It’s a little bit edgy, with the punching bag and black and red colour scheme, but it’s very him.
“So, Eiji,” you say, patting next to you.
He takes a seat next to you with a pink face. “Ah, that’s just what my mum calls me,” he says, looking at the ground.
You giggle. “It’s cute!” You hug your Shiny Breloom teddy bear and grin up at the boy. “Eiji, like peace. It’s written in the stars, you’re gonna be the next symbol of peace to Japan!” you trail off.
“I’d be happy if I was the symbol of peace to at least one person.”
“Well, you’re a symbol of peace in my eyes, so you did it!”
He smiles gently at you, a genuine look of adoration. “Thanks, [Y/N].”
Neither of you say anything for a moment, just looking at each other with the sound of the television on in the background.
“Ah! Sorry, that was way unmanly of me. I shouldn’t be using your name without your permission like that.”
“It’s okay! I like it, call me [Y/N] from now on!” you declare. “As long as I get to call you Eiji, though,” you tease.
He lets a small chuckle out, unable to hold back a smile. “Sounds like a deal to me.”

“Kurogiri. She took down our Nomu,” he hisses. A little figurine of the tiny bird that fucked up his Nomu sits on the bar. He takes a seat and slouches over the figurine, holding it up with two fingers. He inspects the little bird. “With this thing.”
“So she did.”
“How
She was so terrified of violence. She’s so ignorant to the ways of the heroes. Kurogiri, get me more information about her.”
“Yes, Tomura.”
“Alright! Listen! It’s time for this morning’s homeroom period! Take your seats, everyone!”
“Iida, we’re all in our seats, silly,” you tease. “I think you’re the only one who isn’t.”
He flushes. “Right! Of course. I will now take my seat.”
He plops down in his seat and waits for the substitute teacher to enter.
The door squeaks open, and the whole class goes silent, watching the door open.
“Morning.”
“Aizawa-sensei, you’re back already?” you exclaim. “You’re alright?”
He grumbles. “Thanks to you, I only suffered injuries on my back and elbow. Don’t do that again, though. That was stupid.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t want you to get even more hurt. It
It crushed your arm,” you whisper the last part.
“And it’s healing. Don’t concern yourself over me. Your battle hasn’t ended, yet.”
“Our battle?” Bakugou murmurs.
“You don’t mean
 villains?” Midoriya says.
“UA’s sports festival is approaching,” Aizawa elaborates.
“I keep forgetting this is an actual school,” Ojiro says.
“Hey, is that okay? After a villain attack?” Jirou asks.
“The school is confident it’ll be fine. The security will be upped five times, apparently. Whether or not you agree with the stupid idea, you should be worried about doing well in the festival. Not even villains can halt the event.”
“No, I’d really actually prefer it if we halted it then!” Mineta cries.
“Our sports festival is one of Japan’s biggest events. Instead of the Olympics, we have the UA sports festival. It’s entertaining for the public, yes, but heroes will be scouting you all. This is your opportunity to get your name out there.”
“I’m thinking I might follow the tactic of going sidekick for a pro after graduation,” Kaminari says.
“Lots of people get stuck as sidekicks forever. You seem like that type of dumbass,” Jirou retorts.
“Sidekick or not, I’m sure you’ll be successful,” you reassure.
“Naturally, working for a famous hero will get you higher status and more experience,” Aizawa-sensei comments. “But remember, time is limited. You only get one chance per year, for three years. Make it count.”
You can feel the energy bumble in the room for the next four periods, and you have to admit, even you can hardly focus on any of the classes for the day, especially with the hero classes talking about how scouting works instead of physical training.
By the time school is over, most of the class has gotten their excitement out, but you’re still practically bouncing. “Hey, Shouji, this is our chance,” you say, eyes gleaming. “Let’s do our best! Hey, Kirishima, ready to go?”
“Yeah! Weight training first, right?”
“Yep!”
You open the door to a crowd of students, blocking the exit.
“What’re they doing here?” Mineta squeals.
“Scoping out the competition, fuckhead. They wanna see the crowd who came through the villain ambush. But
It’s pointless, so fuck off, extras,” Bakugou snaps.
“Not this again
Bakugou, you can’t just keep calling everyone extras!” you scold.
“I don’t call you an extra.”
“Yes you do!”
“Suck it.”
“I came to see what you kids are made of, true. But I didn’t think you’d be this arrogant. Are all the kids enrolled in the heroics department like you?” a purple haired boy says, pushing his way to the front.
“Hah?” Bakugou sneers.
“I’m a bit disillusioned. You know, there’s lots of kids who wanted to be in the hero department who ended up in gen ed or other departments. But depending on how we do in the sports festival, we get a chance to transfer. Of course, you might transfer, too. Get off your high horse, or we’ll take your spot in the class. Consider this a declaration of war.”
“Hey, let’s all do our best!” you intrude. “We’re confident, sure, because we’re strong. You better be confident in your power, too, okay? If you’re confident about it, it means you’ve got something worth being a hero. So
fight hard, okay? If you want to be a hero, you have to work for it, just like us.”
The boy looks at you, narrowing his eyes.
“Oh, I know! Me and my friend are training, I’m following a regimen that’s pretty good. Join us, won’t you?” you offer.
He scoffs. “Don’t pity me.”
“I’m not. If I was pitying you, I’d be like, awh itty bitty baby, have a candy. Or something.”
“Pft
” He laughs quietly at your babying voice, and shrugs. “Whatever. If you’re offering, it’s rude to decline.”
“Rad! My name’s [Y/N] [L/N]. C’mon, walk with me.”
You skip out just as another boy yells at Bakugou, steel silver hair the only thing you notice about him before moving on.
“Kiri will meet us there. We do weightlifting in Gym Delta, then do cardio in the fake cities. We have permission, of course, so don’t worry,” you explain, the boy nodding along. “And, I’m sorry for Bakugou. He’s very uh
egotistical? Yeah, that sums it up.”
He huffs. “Yeah, I can tell. My name’s Hitoshi Shinsou.”
“It’s nice to meet you Shinsou. I train every weekday, but Kirishima joins me Tuesdays and Thursdays. You’re welcome to join me anyday.”
He stays silent for a moment. “That’s
nice to hear. I like to know that you’re actually working hard and not sitting around on your high horse.”
“Ehh
I have a feeling I know at least one person in my class like that,” you admit. “I understand that frustration, though. If you ever want to talk about it, I’m here and all ears.”
He smiles softly, and you think it’s a good look on him. “Thanks.”
“Let's go get changed now, just into P.E. clothes. I’ll meet you out here, and we’ll go to the gym.”
Training with Shinsou and Kirishima is nice. Shinsou struggles a little to keep up, but you and Kirishima are quick to offer him support. He doesn’t do as long reps as you two do, but he still works hard and sweats plenty.
Kirishima has to leave early to make it home to a family dinner, but Shinsou assures you he doesn’t need to get back home for anything. You two jog a few miles in the fake city, and while Shinsou struggles to keep up, you push him and slow down when he needs. He manages to go the full 5 km you typically do, and you’re proud of him.
“Shinsou, you did great today. You should definitely join me more often!”
“I might take you up on that offer. I need to get in better shape,” he admits, panting.
“Hey, give me your phone number,” you say, handing him your phone. He types in his number after taking a gulp of water and hands the device back to you. You text him really quick, and his phone dings in his pocket. “Now we have each other’s numbers! Let’s talk often, okay?”
“Okay.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow!”
And that you do. The next day rolls around, and as you’re walking to school, you find a familiar purple head of hair near the entrance.
“Shinsou!”
He nearly jumps out of surprise, but turns to see you. He waits for you to catch up, and you walk through the UA gates together.
“I’m glad I caught you. Hey, how are you feeling?”
“Fine,” he responds instinctively.
“Really?”
“No, I’m sore as hell.”
You chuckle. “Yeah, that happens. Take today and the weekend off to let your muscles rest, okay?”
“I was planning on it.”
“Good! Hey, do you want to eat lunch with me today?”
He makes a small noise of surprise. “Really?”
“Yeah! I want to learn more about you.”
“Then
okay. I’ll meet you outside of your classroom at lunch break?”
“Definitely! Hey, this is my stop. See you at lunch, Shinsou!” You wave goodbye and push open the door to 1-A.
“[L/N]! What’s up?”
“Hey, Kirishima. Did you make it home in time?”
“Just barely,” he laughs. “Hey, uhm
I was wondering if maybe, uh, after school today, maybe you wanted to hang out?”
You frown. “I wish I could. Maybe tomorrow? I have something to do after school today.”
He seems excited about it. “Yeah! That sounds good, I’ll uh, I’ll text you about it later, is that okay?”
“Sounds great. I can’t wait to hang out with you! Outside of school, at least.”
“Me too!” he squeaks out, a little too fast for his liking.
When lunch time rolls around, you find Shinsou and sit with him and show off a few Pokemon. He seems impressed, and especially likes the Eeveelutions. They’re quite popular, you think.
“Hey, what about you?”
He hums, taking a bite of chicken.
“What’s your quirk?”
He takes his time chewing, and when he finally swallows, he mumbles it quietly. “Brainwashing.”
Your face gleams at it. “Really? That’s so powerful! You could honestly be a stronger hero with it than a few of my classmates,” you say. “It kind of reminds me, Aizawa-sensei has a quirk that he uses that isn’t really fighting based. Yours isn’t either, but it’s still really strong! So if you keep training up your body, you’ll be mega powerful.”
Light pink dusts his cheeks. “You think so?”
“Yeah! Hey, after the sports festival, I better see you in my class, okay?”
His violet eyes look directly into yours, soft, yet determined. “Okay.”
____
“Aizawa-sensei,” you greet after class. “Are you okay to fight? Is your arm all better?” you question, even though it’s clearly still in a sling.
“I’m fine. I don’t need two arms to beat you, anyway,” he grumbles.
“Fair enough. Hey, I have a question
”
“Go get changed, first. I’ll meet you in the gym,” he says, and you nod.
When you meet him in the gym, stretching as much as he can with his arm in a sling.
“Sensei, about the sports festival,” you start. He cocks an eyebrow. “Well, first, am I allowed to bring my figurines?”
“I’ll get you a form to let you bring them. What else?”
“There’s a boy I know, I think he’ll make a really good hero. He just
needs help. Like me. Getting stronger. Can he join us?”
He huffs. “No. He’s not my student.”
Your shoulders slump.
“But, if I see him do well in the sports festival, I’ll consider it.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Stop giving me that look,” he groans, rubbing his eyes. “It’s too bright.”
“Right. Okay. Fight time. I’m pumped now!”
With Aizawa-sensei slightly crippled, you think you have an advantage. And admittedly, you do last a little longer on both offense and defense, but you never get a decisive victory. You do get a few extra punches and kicks landed, though.
After defending for an hour, you lie on the mat and try to catch your breath. He tosses you your water bottle.
“You’ve gotten stronger,” he comments. “Faster than most people, I’d say. If you keep this up, I’ll consider helping you get a weapon to use.”
You shoot straight up. “Really? That’d be great, Sensei. I’ll keep working hard.”
“Use my name, I’m not your only Sensei. Oh, and I’m adding a few things to your training regimen. Come with me to the teacher’s lounge, I’ll get you that form so you can have your figurines and add what you’ll be doing,” he says.
You groan and fall back down flat on the mat.
“Get up, [L/N].”
“Use my name, I’m not your only [L/N],” you mock.
“You are literally the only student I have with that last name.”
“You are literally the only Sensei in the area that I would be referring to.”
His eye twitches. “[Y/N],” he forces out. “Get up.”
“Yes, Aizawa-Sensei.”
You leave your warm, comfy spot on the mats and get up, grabbing your water bottle. You take sips as you walk with him to the teacher’s lounge, where you see a few other teachers, as usual. You wave to Snipe-Sensei, and he tips his cowboy hat in return.
“Fill this out and give it to me on Monday,” he murmurs, pulling out a paper from a folder. Then, he takes a familiar sheet out to write down your extra workouts on a piece of paper. 200 pound punching bag, 10 minutes, 5 reps, 2 minute breaks. 5km run -> 10km.
“Sensei,” you whine. He shoots a glare at you, and you pout. “That’s a lot, Aizawa-Sensei.”
“It takes a lot to be a hero. You know how to use a punching bag?”
You shake your head, and he sighs.
“I’ll show you the proper form on Monday. Go home and rest your body,” he instructs.
“Will do.” You grab the two papers and bow before turning around and marching out.

“Hey, [L/N], you seem really tired,” Kaminari mentions, waiting for the next class to start.
You chuckle. “Yeah, I’ve been training a lot lately. I’m okay, though!”
Kirishima, who sits just behind Kaminari, nods. “I can’t wait for tomorrow. Yesterday was rad. Every Tuesday and Thursday, right?”
“Yep!”
“Alright, class
For the foundational skill of heroics we’ll study today is
The trial of Rescue. You’ll be supervised by a three-man team of me, All Might, and someone else.”
“Trial of rescue
Sounds a bit difficult this time around,” Kaminari says.
“Totally!” Mina agrees.
“Ah, c’mon! That’s what a hero’s whole job is! I’m way excited,” Kirishima exclaims.
“Don’t get ahead of yourselves,” Aizawa-sensei says. “As I was saying
This time, you can choose if you want to wear your costume or not. Some of your costumes may not be adapted to the task at hand. We’ll get to the training area by bus. That’s all, go get prepared.”
You decide to dress up in your costume and take a few Pokemon figurines with you. For the occasion, you quickly comprise a six man team of:
Swellow,
Primarina,
Camerupt,
Lapras,
Flygon,
and Skarmory.
When you get out to the bus, Iida demands everyone line up according to their numbers from the desk they sit at. And, thankfully, the bus isn’t like the school bus he thought it would be, so you take a seat next to Bakugou.
The bus starts, and Tsuyu mentions how Midoriya’s quirk is similar to All Might’s.
“Nah, All Might doesn’t hurt himself when he attacks,” Kirishima says. “I’m kinda jealous of that type of quirk, though. There’s a lot you can do with it. Plus it’s flashy!”
He stretches his arm out and hardens it.
“My ‘hardening’ power isn’t bad for fighting, but it’s not flashy.”
“It may not be flashy, but I think you can easily become a top hero! You’ve got the personality for it, plus you’re super strong,” you pitch in.
“Awh, ya think so?” he says, looking down with pink tinting his cheeks. “I hope so! But if we’re talking about strong and flashy, it’s all on Todoroki and Bakugou.”
“Bakugou’s always angry, so he won’t be very popular,” Tsuyu adds.
“Bitch! I’ll be popular, too!” Bakugou yells, standing up.
“See?” Tsuyu says.
You put a hand on his shoulder and guide him back to sitting down.
“It’s only been a while since we’ve met you, and we all know that your personality is like shit being steeped in a sewer.”
Bakugou jumps back up and starts yelling at Kaminari.
“What a vulgar conversation!”
“But they make me laugh!”
“Settle down, we’re here.”
The class files out of the bus and into the massive dome.
“Woah, this place is huge!” you exclaim, eyes sparkling
“It’s like Universal Studios Japan!” Kaminari sighs, dreamily.
“Flood wrecks, landslides, fires
This is a practical training area I created to simulate all kinds of accidents and disasters!” Thirteen explains. “It’s called the Ultimate Space for Jams!”
“It really is USJ!” Kaminari laughs.
“Hey, Thirteen,” Aizawa mumbles. “Where’s All Might? He should be here.”
“He was out doing hero work, and he used up all his time. He’s resting now.”
You feel like you’re listening in on a conversation you shouldn’t be hearing, so you step away and let them finish before Thirteen starts their explanation again.
“Alright, before we begin, there’s just one thing! Or two. Or, maybe three
 Or four
I’m certain you’re already aware, but my quirk is called “Black Hole.” Whatever gets trapped in its vortex is turned to dust.”
“It’s perfect for removing wreckage to save people!” Midoriya exclaims.
“Yes, but
It could also easily be used to murder someone. And in that way, it’s no different from the quirks of everyone here. Your power’s potential
It goes both ways. To save people and harm them. Today, let’s get studying about how to use our quirks for the sake of human life!” they declare.
You cheer. “Woo!”
“That is all, you have my gratitude for listening so patiently.”
“All right, first thing’s first,” Aizawa starts, but quickly gets distracted.
His attention is drawn towards a purple mist growing near the fountain at the centre. Then, figures start emerging from the mist.
“Huddle together and don’t move! Thirteen, protect the students!” Aizawa yells. “Don’t move, those are villains!”
“Sensei, what about the intruder alarm sensors?” Yaoyorozu frets.
“Of course, we have them set up, but
this place is isolated. One of their quirks must have let them in without triggering the sensors.”
Aizawa gets ready to jump into battle, despite the worried cries of his students.
“Alone?” Midoriya whimpers. “But you can’t
 Surely you can’t
”
“A hero always has more than one trick up their sleeves. Thirteen! I’m counting on you!” Aizawa declares before jumping in, using his capture weapon to take out three villains at once. Using his quirk to remove theirs, he catches the villains off guard to take them down with his fighting skills and capture weapon.
“Students! Come, retreat!” Thirteen yells, hustling to get the class out.
The same purple mist from before blocks the exit.
“Greetings. We are the League of Villains. Apologies, but we took it upon ourselves to intrude on the UA grounds to find that All Might should be here. It’s our job, you see, to extinguish him, and we’re rather disappointed at his lack of presence. Regardless, this is my job
”
Before he can continue, Bakugou and Kirishima lunge forwards in attempts to attack the misty being, but it’s no use. The purple mist consumes you all, and before you know it, you’re in the landslide zone with Todoroki, surrounded by villains.
“Watch out,” is all he mumbles before freezing the floor, and the villains standing on it, solid. He approaches one of them.
“Hey, Todoroki? I’m going to go back and see if I can help. You’re getting information, right? Come back and tell us when you can. I’ll see you, okay? I’m counting on you!”
He simply nods, and you conjure Skarmory, the steel flying type, to carry you back towards the centre where Aizawa-sensei is fighting.
Tumblr media
You get closer, and you see Aizawa-sensei get pinned down by a massive, pitch black creature with a gaping mouth and an exposed brain. It’s screeching out as it crushes Aizawa-sensei’s elbow, and shivers prick at your spine at the sight.
“Sensei!” you scream, rushing to pull out your figurines from your pouch. You clutch them and conjure the rest, the figurines slipping out of your hand once you’ve conjured them.
“Swellow, use Double Team! Six times!”
Tumblr media
Already being a small creature, Swellow has the advantage of being hard to hit, but by using Double Team, his evasiveness is raised so any attack that would usually hit with 100% accuracy is lowered to having a 33% chance of hitting. Since it’s already so small, it usually ends up with around a 10% chance of actually being hit since most attacks will miss the small Pokemon, anyway.
“Flygon, use Dragon Dance! Six times, too!”
Tumblr media
Dragon Dance is overpowered as long as he has the time to get them all off. It raises his Attack and Speed massively.
“Lapras! Use Rain Dance!”
Tumblr media
You want to use Hurricane, which usually has a 70% chance of hitting. With Rain Dance, it turns into 100% chance, meaning you won’t accidentally hurt anyone else. It’s a flying type move, which is probably strong against what you can only assume is a fighting type.
You think for a moment. That pitch black creature
It only makes sense to be Fighting, Dark, or Normal type. You take a risk and hope it’s Fighting.
“Primarina! Use Moonblast, on the Brain Creature!”
Tumblr media
As long as the Brain Creature is Dark or Fighting type, the Fairy type move will be super effective.
The Moonblast knocks the Brain Creature off of Aizawa.
“Camerupt, use Yawn on Brain Creature!”
Tumblr media
The Brain Creature becomes drowsy, and in one turn, it will fall asleep. You have to stall until then.
“Skarmory, use Fly, swoop down to pick up Sensei and then head back to where Thirteen is!” you command. Still on top of the Steel Flying type, you brace yourself for the steep swooping and quick flying that allows him to get Sensei out of there.
It picks up Sensei in its talons carefully and returns him to a safer ground.
The Brain Creature fights back, clutching Camerupt in its grip. The peachy colour of Camerupt’s fur is nearly impossible to make out as the Brain Creature rips Camerupt apart, spreading blood everywhere. You get lightheaded, and you shed tears, knowing that if he returns to you, you’ll be out of commission.
“Camerupt!” it cries out, before its throat is unable to make any more noise.
Camerupt faints.
“I’m so sorry,” you murmur, tears running down your face.
“Primarina, Moonblast! Keep using Moonblast!”
“Nomu, get that girl.”
“Lapras, use Waterfall on Brain Creature!”
The ‘Nomu’ is knocked out of the air by a rush of water, forcing it down. It falls asleep, due to Yawn.
Your heart leaps at the sight.
For one more turn, you attack and give your Pokemon a moment to use Dragon Dance and Double Team. Then, a villain with hands all over his body nearly attacks Tsuyu.
“Tsuyu!” you scream, but Midoriya is there to try and get him off of her. The Nomu wakes up and blocks him, and the villain nearly attacks Tsuyu again.
“Skarmory! Fly, quick!”
But there’s no time.
“Have no fear
”
All Might!
“For I am here!”
Tears fall from your eyes in relief as he rushes in towards the center and saves not only Tsuyu, but Mineta and Midoriya, too.
“Get to the entrance, you three!”
You don’t hear what the hand villain is saying, but you use this intermission of the fight to power up your Pokemon.
Swellow uses Double Team three more times, capping him out at 6, and Flygon uses Dragon Dance three more times. The rain has ended, though, and you need Lapras to use Rain Dance again. Not wanting to draw attention towards yourself, you tap into her consciousness and use Rain Dance yourself, before exiting.
All Might goes to attack the hand villain, but the Nomu stands in its way.
“I can’t believe it, my blows aren’t working at all!” he exclaims, throwing punch after punch to the Nomu with little effect.
“Its amazing ability
 ‘Shock Absorption.’”
Will psychic moves work better?
All Might has the Nomu in a good position until the mist villain steps in, putting him in a difficult situation with the Nomu digging its claws into his sides.
“All Might!” you scream. “Swellow, use-”
Then, they come. Bakugou, Kirishima, and Todoroki. Todoroki manages to freeze part of the Nomu. They’re saying something, but you can’t hear. You’re too high up. All you see is the Nomu’s arm and leg get snapped off, then quickly regenerate.
“Skarmory, you need to help, too. Drop me off!”
He looks at you skeptically, but leaves you still in the centre area, but away from most of the action.
“They’re using one Full Restore. If it’s fighting type, it should still be especially weak to flying. So, Swellow!” you call out as the Nomu nearly attacks Bakugou.
They’re talking, and you see it as a time to strike.
“Swellow, use Hurricane on Nomu! Flygon, use Giga Impact! Primarina, use Draining Kiss! Lapras, use Hydro Pump! Skarmory, use Drill Peck!”
Flygon attacks first, hitting the Nomu for massive damage. It blows him away and blasts a hole through its torso. Swellow uses Hurricane and knocks the Nomu away, phasing it and knocking it off its feet. Its skin and muscles peel off from the harsh winds, and before it can repair, Skarmory uses Drill Peck. Attacking at the raw muscle, the Nomu screeches in pain.
It starts to regenerate itself, but Primarina’s Draining Kiss undos all the regeneration, leaving an open opportunity for Lapras to attack. Hydro Pump hits the skull and tears the head off of its body, and you feel like vomiting at the sight.
“You!” the hand villain screeches at you, turning towards you. He stomps towards you as Nomu slowly regenerates, but All Might takes care of its skinny form that it tries to regenerate.
“Young [L/N]! Get out of there!”
Tears are still falling from your eyes.
“You used cheats!” the hand villain hisses.
“You’re the one who kept using stupid Restores on the Nomu!” you pant. “You killed---” it hits you. “You killed Camerupt. Camerupt didn’t faint. He got ripped to shreds,” you whisper, the realisation hitting you. “Flygon! Flygon, use, use,” you cough. “Use Dragon Claw!”
It scratches at the hand villain, piercing through his arm. Blood splatters onto the ground, dripping into a pool.
“And All Might-sensei is still standing! You failed!” you scream, losing your breath. You get dizzy from lack of air. Have you been breathing this whole time, or did you forget? You can’t tell.
He turns to the hero with angry eyes and, alongside the misty figure, attacks. Midoriya tries to interfere, rendering him useless immediately, but distracting the villains long enough.
Bullets sear through the villain’s hand.
“Sorry pardners,” Snipe drawls.
“We’re regrettably late.”
You turn to the entrance, where Iida stands with a plethora of pro heroes.
“Class 1-A President Iida Tenya! Reporting for duty!”
“They came. This is our game over screen,” the hand villain grumbles.
Several more shots are fired, and Thirteen opens a massive vortex that pulls the villains away. Through the mist villain, they’re gone. Just like that.
Kirishima rushes to see if All Might is okay, but Cementoss brings up a massive concrete wall, stopping him.
“Gather in front of the gate. Let the pros take care of your Senseis.”
You make the trek upstairs with all your Pokemon in tow. All of them except Camerupt. It remains behind you in a bloody pile of entrails, muscles, and bones. You want to have him---it. You want it to return, but the moment it does, you’ll suffer repercussions.
You tell this to the emergency aid worker, who tells you to have it return to you. They’ll take care of you from there. With tears in your eyes, the bloody clumps of flesh return to you in a glow, alongside Skarmory, Flygon, Primarina, Lapras, and Swellow.
“Excuse me, I don’t feel
” you murmur, then vomit. A mix of the day’s lunch, breakfast, and a frightening amount of blood fall out of your mouth in horrible groans. Thankfully, you’re on the other side of an ambulance, apart from your class. You don’t want them to see you this way.
You crouch, dry heaving, and the emergency worker rubs your back.
“Can you stand?”
“Yes.” But I don’t want to. It hurts. So bad. Everything hurts. My head hurts, it’s all foggy.
They help you stand up and walk back to the class.
“[L/N]-san! Are you alright?” Tokoyami asks, bringing the attention of Kirishima, Kaminari, and Shouji.
You wipe blood from your mouth. “I’m okay. Are you all okay, too? Kirishima, you were all up in the action, you’re not hurt?” you ask.
“I’m okay! I’m way more worried for you, dude! As manly as that was, there’s gotta be some recoil on all that,” he says, putting a hand on your shoulder. You grab his wrist and move his hand towards your cheek and lean into his touch.
“I’m really tired,” you mumble, eyelids drifting shut. “You’re so warm
”
You fall into Kirishima, and he holds you up gently. His face is red, and he picks you up and brings you to an emergency worker.
“They just uh
 collapsed,” he explains sheepishly.
The worker nods and brings you into an ambulance and takes you off.
In the hospital, they check to make sure you’re not injured. When you wake up, they tell you that you can be discharged after the doctor checks up on you.
“You’re not hurt, at least not physically. Do you feel any pain?”
“My head just hurts really bad,” you reply.
“We’ll get you some painkillers for that. Alright, you should be good to go,” he says, standing up. “Stay safe out there, kid.”
“Thank you, doctor.”

“Oh, I’ve got to go to class now,” you insist, trying to avoid the group of reporters. “Really, I need to go.”
You can’t manage to push through, and you’re stuck in the flood of bodies and questions about All Might.
“Fuck off!”
Bakugou parts the sea of reporters and storms through the gates of UA, and you follow quickly behind him. Practically skipping next to him, you try and strike up conversation.
“You’re a lot better at dealing with people than I am. I get overwhelmed so easily. I want to be an underground hero when I grow up, so I should take a few tips from you!”
He clicks his tongue. “Why don’t you fuck off, too, extra,” he spits.
You falter a bit, standing still, before jogging to keep up with him.
“Hey, we’re gonna be heroes together. Let’s get along!” you suggest.
“I don’t want to get along with a lowly extra like you.”
You frown. “You might not want to, but you might need to get along with at least somebody. It’s going to get lonely if you keep this up.” You worry for the boy.
He stays silent and doesn’t acknowledge you, grumbling to himself and ignoring your presence.
“Hey, I’m [Y/N] [L/N], but you should call me [Y/N] since we’re friends now,” you tell him. “Let’s train hard together. I want to fight you.”
Finally, something that piques his interest. “Oh? I’ll beat you to a pulp if you really want me to,” he growls, smirking.
When you get into class, you keep chatting to him. You try to keep your voice lower than usual and less peppy so he doesn’t get annoyed. He doesn’t really say anything back, but he doesn’t tell you to shut up, so you take it as a win.
“Oi,” he cuts you off, and you glance at Aizawa-sensei entering the classroom. You sit forwards and wait for the rest of the class to quiet so class can begin.
There’s still a few conversations going when Aizawa-sensei speaks up, but they quickly fizzle out.
“Hope you’re rested from yesterday’s battle trial. I watched the tapes and evaluated your marks. Bakugou.” Said boy sits up. “Stop acting like a kid. You’re wasting your own talent.”
“I know,” he forces out.
“And Midoriya. Do you plan on destroying your arm every fight? If you keep telling me the same excuse, I’ll expel you.”
“Yessir!”
“Now, let’s get on with homeroom notices. I’m sorry to spring this on you all, but
”
The tension shoots sky high.
“We need to pick a class president.”
“Finally, something school-like!” Kirishima cheers.
Everyone shoots out of their seats with raised hands, insisting they want to be the class president. Even Bakugou is fighting for the position in his own loud way.
“Hey, Shouji, why don’t you do it?”
He looks at you like you’ve grown another head. You laugh at the look.
“I mean it!”
“Why don’t you do it?” he asks back.
You hum. “Don’t wanna!”
Iida speaks up. “This position is an honoured role! The only truly worthy leader will emerge from a democratic choice, reflecting the will of the people! We shall settle this by vote!”
“It’s still too early to have developed any trust in each other,” Tsuyu says.
“And everyone will just vote for themselves!” Kirishima adds.
“And that’s why the people who do get multiple votes will truly be fit for the job. Is that alright, sensei?”
Aizawa-sensei is already tucking himself into his sleeping bag. “As long as you decide by the end of homeroom, I don’t care.”
You grin at Shouji, and he thinks you look like a smug puppy. It’s kind of cute, if he’s being honest. You scribble down Shouji’s name on a piece of paper and fold it in half, then give it to Iida, who puts it in a box.
The results are shown on the board, nearly everyone having one vote, but Midoriya having three and Yaoyorozu having 2.
“Who the fuck voted for Deku?” growls Bakugou.
“Not me, I voted for Shouji! Shouji, why didn’t you vote for yourself,” you whine.
“Because I voted for you,” he replies simply.
“Ack! You got me!” You put your hand over your chest as if you’ve been struck by an arrow.
“You made it too obvious
”
“So, the class president is Midoriya, and the vice-president is Yaoyorozu,” Iida laments.
“Ah man, so close,” Yaoyorozu mutters to herself.
You smile at the girl and give her a thumbs up. “Go Yaoyorozu!” you cheer.
Her face flushes, and she nods at you.
With that out of the way, classes continue as normal. You’ve found that it’s really easy to pass notes with Shouji. You can write a note on your desk and place it at the edge, and he can look at it with his quirk. Then, he can discreetly pass you notes back down low and place it on the edge of your desk without the teachers noticing.
You tell him about a new controller you got, which is your favourite colour and has little cat ears on it. You got cute little joystick covers, too, and put a sticker of your favourite Pokemon on it. He asks you about the Pokemon, and you doodle a little version of it for him, and he tells you he thinks you’re good at drawing.
When you mention that you have to be good at stuff like that in order to design the Pokemon blueprints, he just tells you he thinks that makes you even more skilled.
“Dear listener [L/N], what’s got you all red in the face? What’s the answer to this question?”
“U-uh! One moment, Sensei.” You search the English dictionary in your mind then answer. “The answer is #2, because ‘than’ is used comparatively, so the sentence makes sense when you use that word,” you reply.
“Correct! Now, onto the next lesson
”
‘Damn you, Shouji!’ you scribble.
He huffs, amused.
When the bell finally rings for lunch, you continue on your conversation from the notes you were passing.
“I’ll have to print out the blueprints for a Pokemon for you, one time. They look super cool, at least I think so.”
“It sounds like it takes a lot of work,” he says.
“Kind of. Hey, do you want to sit with each other at lunch again?”
“Sure.”
“Hey, Bakugou, you’re invited too!” you say. “Come sit with us, okay? We won’t bother you too much,” you assure.
“Shut up,” he hisses, but follows a few meters behind you and Shouji nonetheless.
“Anyway, I think today I’ll try the sashimi, and I think you should try the takoyaki!” you say. “We can try all types of new foods here, I’m excited. Usually I just eat instant ramen.”
“You do seem like the person to eat instant ramen,” Shouji comments.
“What’s that supposed to mean? Is this you saying I’m cool? Do cool people eat instant ramen?”
“No, but little gremlins do.”
“You pain me.”
“My dearest apologies.”
“That sounded like the most dear-less apology ever. Excuse me, could I get that sashimi? Thank you, Lunch Rush!”
He offers a thumbs up and then takes Shouji’s request.
You sit down at a table, and Bakugou slams his lunch tray a seat away from you. The empty seat is one you’re sure no one would have the balls to fill, so you take it as Bakugou eating with you.
Neito and Kendo join you three soon, and you show Kendo a few figurines.
“These are my Eeveelutions. I can summon them instantly with these figures. Pick one, and I’ll conjure them immediately!”
“Ooh, I like this one,” she says, holding a little Espeon.
“Espeon it is, then. Espeon, I choose you!”
Tumblr media
“This is Espeon,” you introduce. “She’s a princess and a half.”
She hops on Kendo’s lap and sits properly, and Kendo pets her. “Her fur is so smooth,” she says, gasping.
“She grooms herself by peeing on herself,” you tell her.
“What?!” Kendo instantly takes her hands off, and you laugh.
“I’m kidding, I just wanted to see how you’d react,” you say. “Don’t worry, her fur is just naturally like that.”
“It better be!”
“Sometimes I think [Y/N] grooms themselves by peeing on herself,” Neito says.
Kendo and Shouji chuckle.
“That’s so mean! I groom myself better than you ever could, greasy hair haver. I bet you take a shower once a week,” you say, sticking your tongue out.
“I can see it,” Kendo confirms, scratching Espeon’s chin.
“It’s like if---”
BEEP
BEEP
BEEP
SECURITY LEVEL 3 HAS BEEN BREACHED
STUDENTS, PLEASE PROMPTLY EVACUATE
You immediately stand up in panic. “Espeon, good. Come back.” She returns to you with a glow. “Let’s stick together, okay?”
Only Shouji hears you, and he nods to you. Staying in the back, you let everyone else flood the halls while you stay back. Bakugou sticks back, too.
“Hey, you think we’ll be alright?” you ask.
“No shit we’ll be fine. It’s fuckn UA,” Bakugou replies, rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, you’re right. There are so many heroes here, the intruder would be messed up instantly. I wonder what’s going on?”
“It’s okay!” you hear Iida shout, and you can see him standing up on the Exit sign holding the pipe for dear life. “It’s just the press!”
He continues on and assures the crowd they’re safe, but that only riles you up more.
“Hey, Bakugou? Shouji?”
He grunts.
“Do you really think it was just the press? I mean, we’d know if someone bad intruded and they made a big scene about it, but what if they didn’t? Make a big scene, I mean. Like they snuck in.”
Bakugou doesn’t have a response and opts to ignore you.
“I hope not,” is all Shouji can say with full honesty. Because he’s not sure, either.
Returning to the classroom takes a while, but when everyone is finally back and seated, Midoriya announces he’s giving the Class President title to Iida. You think it’s well deserved, but you also think Midoriya is doing it to also ease his own nerves about the position. A win-win scenario overall, you think.
____
“Class dismissed, go home,” Aizawa-sensei grumbles as the bell rings. The rest of the class filters out of the classroom, and you deliberately pack up slowly. You take extra time to ‘review’ your notes before closing your notebooks and take extra time to organise your pencil pouch. Once you’re the last one in the class, you approach Aizawa-sensei.
“Sensei?”
He looks up at you from a stack of papers. “You can call me Aizawa.”
“Right, Aizawa-sensei. I have a question for you,” you say. “Is now a good time?”
“Not getting any younger.”
“Of course! Uhm, is there a way you can help me find a capture weapon like yours? I want to learn to fight better without my quirk, and since you use your quirk and your athleticism in tandem, I thought maybe you’d have some tips.”
He sets down the papers and stands up, rolling his shoulders. “Go change and meet me in the Gym Delta.”
“Yes, Sensei!”
You change even faster than usual and rush around to find Gym Delta, eventually swooping through the doorframe and meeting Aizawa-sensei.
He’s stretching on a mat, and he nods to you. “You need to learn basic hand-to-hand combat, first. I wish this was an actual class, but oh well
” he says.
“Sensei, I was just wondering, is it okay that you’re helping me like this?”
“You were the one who came up to me. I’m simply helping a student who wants to be better. Now start stretching.”
“Yes, Sensei!”
You stretch your legs and arms to warm up, then Sensei tells you to come at him with everything you have.
You lunge forwards and throw a punch to his throat. He dodges, grabs your outstretched arm, and flips you over and slams you on the ground.
“Ow!”
“You suck.”
“I know, that’s why I’m here! To get better! Please let me go now!”
He helps you up and you roll your shoulders.
“We’re going to continue doing this for an hour. Got it?”
“Yes, Sensei!”
So, going headon doesn’t work. I have to be quicker, otherwise he’ll take advantage of the bigger hitbox with my arm outstretched.
You feign a punch to the gut, then retract your arm and sidestep to kick him in the legs. He steps back, and you regain footing quickly, expecting him to attack.
“I’m on defense here. Just keep attacking,” he says.
“Yes, Sensei!”
You take a large step forwards and nearly knee him in his side, but he grabs your leg and flips you over again.
“Again.”
“Yes, Sensei!”
An hour passes quickly, constantly trying to come up with new strategies and combinations of moves to try and even land a hit on Sensei. You do, kicking him in the shins a few times, but that’s all the damage you manage to do.
“I’m attacking now,” he says. “Defend with all you’ve got.”
“Don’t I get a break?” you pant.
“Do you want one?”
You think for a moment. “Yes, Sensei.”
“You know your limits, go get some water and rest. You have 10 minutes.”
“Yes, Sens---”
“If you say that one more time, I’m going to rip my own hair out.”
Your excitement softens, and you offer a tiny smile. “Alright, I’ll be back soon.”
You jog out and grab your water bottle, taking sips and trying to steady your heartbeat. You walk back into the gym, finding Aizawa scrolling on his phone, leaning against a wall.
“Ready?”
You nod.
He sets his phone aside and lets you get in a defensive position before attacking. Within just a few seconds, you’re on the ground again.
Unlike attacking, you do get better at defending. You get to the point where you can hold Sensei off for nearly a minute before he wipes you.
“You need to get good at defense. You’ll find a weapon to improve your attacking. You’ll also need to work on your stamina so you can use your Pokemon in tandem with you fighting.”
“Yes, Se---Ah. Right. Like how you use your quirk with you fighting?”
He nods. “Come on, I need to give you something.”
You follow him into the teacher’s room, where he takes a seat at his desk. He looks through a bunch of files in a drawer before pulling a piece of paper out and scribbling on it.
“This is your new training regimen. You can use the facilities in Gym Delta for weightlifting everyday after class. 5 days a week, take the weekends off to let your muscles rest. Got it?”
“Thank you, Sensei.”
He hands you the paper, and you scan it over. It’s a lot, admittedly, but you decide right then and there that you’re going to be able to handle it. You nod, determined, and look him in the eye.
“Aizawa-sensei, I’m going to work hard to become a hero. Please continue to help me!” you say, bowing deeply. “Thank you!” You catch the attention of the few teachers in the room.
“Yeah, yeah. Run along now. You’re going to fight me every Friday so I can check in on your progress. If you need any help, let me or another teacher know.”
You grin widely. Aizawa sighs; you’re doing that thing where you radiate light, and his eyes can’t take it. His heart struggles to take it, too. He’s not used to that heartwarming feeling so often.
You rush home and copy the regimen down on a nicer sheet of paper, decorated a little better. With this, you’re on your way to becoming a pro hero. You smile at your own choice to approach your teacher, pleased with your confidence.
You want to call Neito, but you know he’s usually busy with homework around this time, so you decide to message Kirishima.
hey! this is [Y/N], I was wondering if you wanted to do some training with me?
He replies within a few minutes.
sounds good, send me the details and im all in.

School at UA is shockingly normal before noon. All the classes prior to 12:00 are regular classes. English with Present Mic is loud and demanding, but it’s hard not to get pumped up with him as your teacher.
“Who knows the answer?”
You sift through the English rules in your head before raising your hand. “#4 is the correct answer!” you exclaim, raising your hand.
“Correct!”
You kick your legs in excitement.
The break at 12:00 lets you go to the canteen, and when the bell sounds, most of your class is eager to stand up and stretch.
“You’re rather excited about English,” Shouji murmurs.
You giggle. “I just like Mic-sensei. Plus, I’d feel so discouraged if I were a teacher and no one ever seemed excited for my class,” you admit, packing away your notebook and pens. You didn’t really need to take notes, but you liked to anyway because you thought they looked pretty and the feeling of your pen against the paper was nice.
“Hey, Shouji, do you want to sit with me and my friend at lunch?” you ask.
His eyes widen in shock for a moment, and he nods. “Sure, as long as it’s not a bother.”
“If it was a bother, I wouldn’t invite you, don’t worry!” You walk out of the classroom with him and meet up with Neito. “Neito! This is Shouji, and Shouji, this is Neito,” you introduce. “And I’m [Y/N] [L/N]! And you are?” you ask, directed towards the ginger girl next to the blonde.
“Itsuka Kendo, pleasure to meet you.”
You shake hands. “Your eyes are so pretty, Kendo. You’re beautiful!”
She flushes. “Oh, thank you! That’s so sweet,” she flounders. “You say that as if you’re not the prettiest thing in this entire school.”
“Stop flirting,” Neito grunts, interrupting you two.
“It’s not flirting if I’m just saying the truth. Maybe you should be nicer, Neito,” you pout. “Ooh, could I get that takoyaki?” you ask Lunch-Rush, and he gives you a thumbs up and slides the tray towards you.
“She gets distracted by food really easily,” Neito whispers to the other two. “It’s kind of sad.”
“Shaddup!”
The others get their food, and you sit down at a table. “Shouji here got seventh in the quirk apprehension test. Out of 21! Top third!” you tell Neito and Kendo. “His grip strength is like, 540kgw!” you gush.
Shouji is flattered, but embarrassed, and chuckles nervously. “It’s not all that great. [L/N]-san got first out of 21,” he says.
“Woah, you’re pretty and strong!” Kendo says. “We just went to the entrance ceremony. 1-A is crazy
”
“They’re probably stuck up thinking they’re so much further ahead than us,” Neito sulks.
“I don’t think so
” you say. “But it’s mostly my Pokemon’s doing. Oh! I have a pokemon you might like! Can we
Can we use our quirks here? Eh, it doesn’t matter.”
“[Y/N]! Don’t be stupid, you’ll get yourself expelled at this rate.”
You wave your hand. “You worry too much. Besides, Blaziken is awesome. Let me find the files.”
You dig through folders until you find Blaziken’s file.
Tumblr media
“Alright, I choose you, Blaziken!”
A glowing mass grows next to the table until it takes Blaziken’s form.
“This is Blaziken! Say hi, Blaziken,” you say.
“Blaziken, Blaziken. Blaziken!” it chirps.
“Woah
” Kendo’s jaw drops in awe. “She looks so cool!”
Blaziken offers her taloned hand, and Kendo takes it to shake.
“Blaziken is a fire fighting type. Even though she’s 6’3” tall, she’s only 114.6 lbs! But she can still kick butt,” you inform proudly.
“[Y/N] here can make these creatures called Pokemon,” Neito says. “This is one of them. There are cuter ones, though.”
“If I connect my consciousness to them, I can control them, but when I conjure them up, they’re automatically their own creature,” you explain. “So sometimes, when I get lonely or want to cuddle, I summon one and cuddle with it.”
“It’s usually an Eevee of some sort, though,” Neito says.
“Is that another type of creature?” Kendo asks.
You nod. “Here, this is Eevee, but Eevee can evolve into a bunch of other types of creatures!”
You tune out the conversation and search for Eevee’s file, which takes nearly a minute, and conjure Eevee.
Tumblr media
The 1 foot tall creature hops onto the table and sits cutely in front of Kendo.
“Eevee!”
“Blaziken, come back,” you summon, and she glows and returns to you.
“Oh my god, Eevee is so cute!”
“U-uhm, [L/N]-san
” Midoriya approaches you nervously. “I just overheard, you know, about your quirk, I have a few questions
See, I have this notebook of quirks, I like to study them, a-and, I’d really like to know more about yours!”
“Sure thing! Hey, Kendo, Neito, Shouji, I’m gonna go with Midoriya for a bit. I’ll leave Eevee here with you, okay?”
“Sounds good, don’t leave us forever though,” Kendo says. “I just met you, don’t go running off so soon.”
“I won’t!”
You follow Midoriya to a quieter area of the canteen where he sits across from you with a notebook and pencil.
“S-so, when you uh, conjure the creatures, uh
”
“Take your time, Midoriya. Deep breaths, okie dokie?”
He nods frantically and takes a few deep breaths before starting to speak again. “When you conjure up these creatures, how do you give them a consciousness of their own?”
“First, they’re called Pokemon, and second, I take part of my own consciousness. It’s like, if you have a piece of mochi and tear off a piece of it, you still have the main piece of mochi, but now you have this smaller ball of mochi that you can eat on its own. So it’s like you take my life force and consciousness and tear off a piece of it and put it into the Pokemon. I think.”
The boy is scribbling down a hundred words per second. “So, how do you summon things?”
“I need a really specific design. Which is fine, because my mum’s quirk was being able to remember anything she touched or learnt or saw. So, I can keep an archive of everything I’ve ever read or learnt and access that knowledge. I just open the file that contains the blueprint for a Pokemon, and then I can make it! I can also make stuff like, I don’t know, food, for example, but I have to know exactly what it’s made of and a blueprint of how to make it,” you explain.
Half a minute passes of nothing but the sound of pencil on paper, then Midoriya perks up. “[L/N]-san, that’s really awesome! I-If it’s not too much trouble, could I ask what those little figurines you carry around do?”
“It just helps me get to the file quicker. Think of it like a shortcut on a computer! You can have a shortcut to open an application on the desktop, so you don’t have to sift through all the program files to find the app to open it.”
Midoriya is amazed with your analogy and scribbles another few paragraphs and diagrams down. “Thank you! Thank you very much, uhm, I’m sorry to have disturbed your lunch.”
“It’s no disturbance, I’m glad to talk with you! Really, I’d love to get to know you more, sometime. I’ll see you around, though!”
You stand and wave to the boy, and he nervously waves goodbye as you return to Kendo, Shouji, and Neito.
“What was that all about,” Neito grumbles.
“Nothing much,” you dismiss.
“[L/N], Eevee is so cute. Look!” Kendo puts her hand up, and Eevee high fives her with its paw.
You grin brightly. “I’m glad you like them! It can stay for lunch,” you decide. “I’ll introduce you to the Eeveelutions later!”
“You better!”
The rest of lunch passes without a hitch, chatting with Kendo and Neito, Shouji pitching in his two cents every once in a while. You really enjoy their company, and you’re disappointed when the bell chimes and signals it’s time to get back to class.
“Kendo, it was really nice to meet you. Let’s talk more, okay?”
She smiles and nods. “Absolutely. I’ll see you around, [L/N].”
You hum, walking side by side with Shouji back to the 1-A classroom. “Kendo was really pretty, don’t you think?” you ask him.
He nods.
“And I’m really glad she liked Eevee. It makes me happy, because, it’s like Pokemon are a part of me, so when people like my Pokemon, they like me, too.”
He nods.
“Oh! How did you like your sashimi? I might try it tomorrow.”
“It was good. How was the takoyaki?”
You smile fondly. “Delicious.”
You take your seat behind Shouji and continue chatting as the rest of the class sifts in.
“Do you like video games?” you ask. He nods. “You should come to my house sometime, I have so many video games I’d like to show you.”
Shouji opens his mouth to say something, but he’s interrupted almost immediately by an extravagant announcement.
“It’s me!”
Golden Freddy?
“Coming through the door, like a normal person!”
“I can’t believe it! All Might’s really gonna be teaching us!”
“That design’s so silver age!”
“Psst, Shouji, tell me later, okay? I’ll remind you!” He nods. (He does that a lot, you’ve noticed. You wonder if he gets that thing where since he doesn’t talk much, he’s scared his voice will break when he starts talking. You used to get that a lot, since you never had many people to talk to before Neito. So when you did talk, your voice would crack, and it was really embarrassing.)
“I’m here to teach you foundational hero studies! For this class, we’ll be building up your hero foundation through various trials! You’ll get tons of credit for it! Let’s jump right in with
 The trial of battle!”
Bakugou, who’s seated next to you, looks ecstatic at the announcement. You can nearly feel his energy radiating off of him.
“And to go with your first battle
We’ve prepared your hero costumes you sent requests for to match your quirks!”
This gets the class pumped, and Kirishima, Midoriya, and Tsuyu seem especially excited.
“Get changed, and we’ll be ready to go! And don’t forget! From here on out, you’re all officially heroes in training!”
You’re excited, too, and you race to be the first one changed and the first one out to the training grounds. Your hero costume is really just based off of Pokemon trainer’s outfits, so it’s a short dress with a collar and a bag at your waist to hold your figurines. There’s also a ribbon for your hair, but you can’t figure out how to put it on by yourself.
Tumblr media
As for your figurines, you had taken the same team as you had for the entrance exams.
Houndoom,
Lucario,
Ninetales,
Quagsire,
Jolteon,
and Togekiss.
You set them in your pouch on your hip and waited for the rest of your class to get there.
“All Might-sensei, is Aizawa-sensei coming, too?”
“It will just be me, for today, young [L/N].”
“Alright! Oh! Shouji! You look so cool! Your mask connected to your costume like that makes you look so heroic,” you compliment.
“Thank you, [L/N]. You look lovely as well,” he says.
In no time at all, the rest of your class lines up next to you, and All Might begins his explanation. The class will be split into 12 groups. Most of the class is split into random pairs of 2, but Shouto Todoroki and Momo Yaoyorozu were both recommended students, so they’re set to 1v1 each other. Since you were first in the entrance exam, you are also left on your own team. THat makes 9 teams of two and 3 teams of one.
The teams will fight each other with one team assigned as ‘heroes’ and the other team as ‘villains.’ The villains will try and protect a bomb, and the heroes will try and disarm the bomb. They can also win by capturing the other team in its entirety.
The teams are: Midoriya Izuku and Ochaco Uraraka on Team A, Shouji Mezou and Minoru Mineta on Team B, [Y/N] [L/N] on Team C, Tenya Iida and Bakugou Katsuki on Team D, Mina Ashido and Yuga Aoyama on Team E, Rikido Sato and Koji Koda on Team F, Denki Kaminari and Kyoka Jirou on Team G, Tokoyami Fumikage and Tsuyu Asui on Team H, Masahiro Ojiro and Toru Hagakure on Team I, and Kirishima Eijirou and Hanta Sero on Team J.
All Might pulls the first two teams, which are Teams A and D, the former being heroes and the latter being villains. This puts Midoriya and Uraraka against Bakugou and Iida. Quite frankly, you think Bakugou and Iida have a high advantage over Team A, solely because of Bakugou. His quirk alone might be able to 1v2 Team A. Along with Iida? It seems clear to you, but you’re always ready to be surprised.
____
“The Hero Team wins!”
Surprised you are: surprised how harshly Bakugou takes the loss, surprised that they couldn’t counter Midoriya and Uraraka’s strategy, surprised that Midoriya had to obliterate his arm just to win. Your arm tingles as you watch him get carried away on the screens. You feel so lucky that your physical body doesn’t have to go into battle most of the time. Suddenly, you feel very, very weak.
You have a high pain tolerance; when you broke your arm as a kid at a sleepover, no tears were shed and no screams were let out. A few years back, when you were riding your bike, you got hit by a car, and you brushed it off easily after a hospital visit, even when they said you needed to take it easy because your ribs were bruised.
But realistically, you can’t go against that. You can’t go against them. You can’t have your bones shatter and just get up. Your breath gets shallower and faster and it’s harder and harder to get a full breath and your lungs feel like they’re nowhere close to being full even when you suck in as much air as you can and---
“[L/N]-san.”
You whip your head towards the boy with the head of a bird.
“You’re okay. You’re here, in this room. You’re at UA. You’re safe, and you’re okay. Can you breathe with me?” he asks quietly. You nod and follow his breaths, slowly calming down.
“Thank you. I don’t even know your name, and you helped me so much. Thank you,” you say genuinely, smiling sadly.
“My name is Tokoyami Fumikage. Don’t think much of it, I understand how it feels.”
You grin. “You’re my hero!”
He looks away, embarrassed. “I’m glad to have helped you.”
All Might returns with Uraraka, Bakugou, and Iida behind him.
“I’d say, the best in this match was young Iida!”
“But Ochaco and Midoriya won!”
“I wonder why I could possibly think so! Who knows why?”
Yaoyorozu raises her hand immediately and explains her analysis of the fight, explaining that he had been the most focused and carried his task through.
And then it’s the next two teams’ turn. It feels strange to move on from the intense fight just like that, but it must be done, you suppose.
Teams B and I fight against each other next, with Shouji and Mineta on the hero side and Ojiro and Hagakure on the villain side. With Mineta using his quirk to deem Ojiro useless and Hagakure unable to fight against Shouji, the hero side wins.
Next is Teams H and J, putting heroes Fumikage Tokoyami and Tsuyu Asui against villains Eijirou Kirishima and Hanta Sero, a fight which resulted in the villains barely winning from time. Then it was your turn.
Heroes Denki Kaminari and Kyoka Jirou against you, the villain.
You prepare loosely, knowing Kaminari is Electric type and Jirou is Normal type.
“Quagsire, Jolteon, it’s your time to shine,” you murmur, clutching the two figurines in your hand.
Quagsire forms with a wave and a dragged out, “Quagsire.” He’s Ground-Water typing, and the ground makes him immune to any electricity based attacks Kaminari might throw at you. Plus, he gets STAB bonus from earthquake, which is a good attack for going against the two heroes.
Tumblr media
Jolteon forms, sparks ticking around his fur. He picks at the ground with his paw for a moment before licking his paw and grooming his tall ears with it. Jolteon is an Electric type and will power up from any of Kaminari’s attacks. He’ll likely OHKO Jirou if he’s powered up by Kaminari.
Tumblr media
Finally, you decide to pull out Lucario. You can hear the announcement of the round beginning as you conjure Lucario. Being a Fighting-Steel type, he’ll be strong against Jirou. With Close-Combat, he’ll be able to easily OHKO either of them if they get close enough. He’ll stay close to you while Quagsire and Jolteon go out and patrol the halls nearby.
Tumblr media
You sit with your back against a pillar and tap into the consciousness of Jolteon and Quagsire. In just a few moments, you can hear Kaminari storming up the stairs. Jirou is silent, and you tap into Lucario just in case she sneaks in.
“Awh! What’s up little sparky dude?” Kaminari calls to Jolteon upon seeing the little guy.
You want to cuddle up right to him, but you feel like that’d be mean, so you have Jolteon lean forward into a fighting stance and let electricity crackle all around his body.
“It’s gonna be that way? Alright, sparky dude, let’s go!”
He attacks Jolteon and Quagsire with a blaring ball of lightning. Quagsire isn’t affected, since it’s a ground type, and Jolteon doesn’t take much damage. You use Tackle with Jolteon---a normal physical attack---to throw him off guard, to buy enough time for Quagsire to use Earthquake. Earthquake is a ground type move, which is super effective against the electric type.
Kaminari is knocked off his feet, but shakily stands back up and wipes saliva from his chin. You decide to stay out of the consciousness of the two Pokemon and tell them to continue using Tackle and Earthquake. You then focus on Lucario.
Jirou slips in, and you pretend you don’t see her, but just as she gets close to the fake bomb, you use Close Combat. Close Combat is a Fighting type move, which is super effective against her Normal typing. Not to mention, it does 120 damage, and paired with his decently high speed and high attack stat, he OHKO’s Jirou. It doesn’t matter that the move lowers his defense and special defense. She faints and is lying on the ground, and you quickly rush over to her before she falls and prop her up so she doesn’t hit her head.
You peek outside and tiptoe to where Kaminari was fighting Quagsire and Jolteon, and just as you do, Kaminari is out of PP and is paralyzed and confused from overusing his quirk.
“Good job, Jolteon, Quagsire!”
“And the Villain team wins!”
All Might helps Jirou and Kaminari out of the building, and you let your Pokemon stay out.
“Hey, [L/N]! Your dudes are manly as hell!”
You smile. “Thanks, Kirishima! Here, this is Lucario, Quagsire, and Jolteon.”
Kirishima leans down to the 4’ tall Lucario, and Lucario looks up at the boy with a head tilt.
“Luca-rio!”
“Lucario!” Kirishima repeats, grinning.
“Hey, [L/N]-san, how do you come up with the names of these guys?” Mina asks, petting Quagsire and Jolteon, both of which are cuddled right up to the girl.
“Oh, I don’t come up with them. They’re Pokemon. You know, from the games? And shows?”
She shrugs and goes with it, and you sulk in your ‘retro’ interests. It’s only some 500 years old!
“Anyway, Quagsire! Jolteon! Lucario! Good job, you did great! Come back, now.”
With a glow, they return to you and Mina waves goodbye to them.
All Might returns after making sure Jirou and Kaminari would be okay.
“Good job, Young [L/N]. You did well in this fight.”
“Thank you, Sensei! Will Jirou and Kaminari be okay?”
“They’ll be fine, worry not! Now, for the analysis

“It's the first day, [Y/N]. It’s gonna be speeches and shit, not a battlefield,” Monoma scolds over the phone.
“Okay, but I don’t want to be unprepared! I did so well in the practicals, I don’t want to disappoint if they expect me to do something cool.”
He hums, thinking. “Well, you can still make Pokemon without the figures, they just help out. So you’ll be okay.”
You groan. “Okay, okay. If you say so. I’ll meet you there, then. Bye Neito.”
You hang up and slip your shoes on. Before you exit your room, you turn around and grab a figurine just in case. Ol’ reliable, Jolteon.
Tumblr media
Not really an ol’ reliable, but he’s just an electric puppy! You love him very much. At the very least, it’ll be a calming fidget figure if you need it.
Slinging your backpack over your shoulder, you stumble downstairs and out the door. Keys, phone, Jolteon, backpack, good! Got everything.
As usual, Neito is the first one there between you two, and you see his figure as you approach the UA gates.
“Neito!” You bounce up to him and hug him. “We’re here! At UA!”
He chuckles and wraps an arm around your shoulders before pushing you off of him.
“Yeah, we’re here. Good observation, [Y/N]. Let’s get inside before we’re late.”
“We’re not gonna be late,” you say, rolling your eyes.
He jabs you with his elbow. “Knowing your awful sense of direction, we just might be.”
“Then you lead the way, meanie!”
He laughs and does just that, grabbing your wrist and leading you to your class. The doors are huge, and it’s a little daunting, but you don’t really mind. He ruffles your hair and smiles softly.
“You got this. Today’s your day.”
“Today’s my day!” you repeat, grinning. “Good luck, Neito. I’ll see you later.” You wave and push open the heavy door into your classroom, 1-A.
The classroom is nearly empty, save a few students. The angry boy from the exams, someone with a raven? crow? head, and a shy looking boy with a rocky looking head. You sit next to the angry boy and set your bag down at your feet.
He looks endlessly bored, resting his chin on his hand and staring into nothingness.
You decide not to bother him and scroll through your phone and text Neito. More students file in, but you don’t really pay much attention until a familiar antsy boy walks in and makes a fuss.
The angry boy next to you leans back in his chair and props his foot up on the desk, and the antsy boy loses his mind.
“Don’t put your foot on the desk! Don’t you think that’s disrespectful towards your classmates?”
“No, as a matter of fact, I don’t think so. I’m not some stuck up princess like you. Speaking of stuck up, what school did you go to that shoved a stick up your ass? Or were you born with it?”
“A priv- Ahem! I’m from Soumei Junior High School. My name is Iida Tenya.”
A familiar green haired boy walks in on the scene, and you smile at him. You don’t think he sees you.
“Soumei? Well aren’t you an elite. Seems I’ve got a reason to fuckn end you after all!”
“A reason to ‘end’ me? What nerve! You want to be a hero?”
Midoriya peeks into the room, as if he’s unsure if he really wants to enter or stay out of it. Iida notices him, though.
“Hello, I’m Iida Tenya from Sou-”
“Oh, yeah, haha, I overheard. Not that I was eavesdropping, I just- uh, I’m Midoriya, nice to meet you Iida.”
Is it nice to meet him? He seems scared. You stand up and stand next to Midoriya and put a hand on his shoulder.
“Midoriya, I’m glad to see you made it!”
“Midoriya, is it?” Iida says. “I must hand it to you, you figured out the real nature of the practical skills exam, didn’t you? I was blind to it! I completely misread you. I hate to admit it, but you were better than I was.”
“Don’t be too hard on yourself, Iida,” you say gently, offering a hand to shake. He takes it and nods.
“You are too kind.”
“Ah! It’s you!” A pretty girl peeks in with a bright smile. “Curly-hair kid, I’m glad I found ya!”
You tone out their conversation and leave them be.
“I’m [Y/N] [L/N], it’s nice to meet you Iida. You can calm down around me, okay? Relax!” you insist with a tiny smile.
“A-Ah! Of course! I relax around my peers.”
His shoulders are still so stiff, though, and you worry that he’s never relaxed in his life.
“If you’re here to make friends, get outta here.”
Behind Midoriya and the pretty girl lies a tired looking man. He’s on the floor in a sleeping bag, slurping on something that you can’t quite make out.
“This is the hero department, after all.”
He crawls out of his sleeping bag, and you quickly make your way back to your seat.
“Hm. It took you lot 8 seconds to shut up. Life is short, kids.”
“So he must be a pro hero, too?” Midoriya mumbles.
“I’m your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta. Pleasure meeting you,” he says. His face is stoic, and it looks like there is not a single ounce of pleasure in meeting you.
No one has any words for what’s happened, and he moves on swiftly, pulling out gym uniforms from his sleeping bag. “Put these on and go to the P.E. grounds. I’ll explain when we get there,” he grumbles.
“I wonder if Neito is experiencing this, too,” you murmur to yourself, nervous of whatever is going to happen.
You’re the first to grab the P.E. uniforms, and you burst into the locker rooms and change as quickly as you can to be the first one out to the P.E. grounds.
“Sensei, that scarf
Are you by chance Eraserhead?” you question, waiting for the rest of the class to change.
“What of it?”
You smile brightly, and he squints at you. You radiating beams of light isn’t helping his dry eye.
“I’m a big fan! I really like underground heroes, you see. I want to be one when I grow up. How do you avoid the press so well? I want to be able to do that, too.”
His head lolls over. “We’ll talk about this another time. This isn’t the time for this discussion.”
“Yes, Sensei.”
You roll back and forth from your toes to your heels as you wait for the rest of the class to show up, and once they do, the big reveal is finally brought to light.
“We’ll be having a quirk apprehension test.”
“What about the ceremony? And the guidance counselor meeting?” the pretty girl asks, worry evident in her eyes.
“If you want to be heroes, we don’t have time for frilly niceties. You all understand the school’s freedom on campus? Well, that freedom goes for teaching, too.”
“How do you measure quirk apprehension, though?” you question.
“Softball pitch, standing long jump, 50 meter dash, endurance running, grip strength, sustained side steps, upper body exercises, seated toe-touch
These are all activities you know from middle school, naturally. But you were banned from using your quirks. No such limits will be implemented in the tests we’ll do today.”
“Do we have to do it twice? For a control variable?” you ask, frantically thinking of what Pokemon you can use for these tests.
“No. I’ll compare them to your middle school results. [L/N], how far could you pitch a softball in middle school?”
You think for a moment. “40 meters, or so,” you reply, a bit embarrassed. He motions for you to step up and into the middle of a circle, and you nervously step up.
“Try using your quirk this time around,” he instructs, tossing a softball to you. “As long as you don’t leave the circle, anything you do is fine. Don’t hold back.”
Machamp? He surely is strong. No, no. Flying type. Zapdos! Flying electric! And use the power of electricity to propel the softball! Yes, this will work.
You take a deep breath and find the file in your mind that contains Zapdos.
Tumblr media
Flying Electric, high special attack, go for a special attack and STAB? You hope you aren’t taking so long. You conjure the Zapdos, and a bright light shines in front of you as you create the creature.
The class gasps and oos and aas, but you try and ignore it.
“Zapdos, take this. Fly up!”
It grips the softball in its talons and flies high with one, big flap of his wings. A burst of air pushes the class back a little, and once the Zapdos is high in the sky, you nod.
“Zapdos, use Charge!”
Electricity bumbles around the creature as he charges, making his next electric attack twice as strong.
“Now, use Discharge! Center it into a beam against the ball!”
“Zapdos!” he replies.
It tosses up the softball and uses Discharge, a massive wave of energy and electricity sending the softball flying.
“Zapdos, good! Come back!”
In another harsh flap, the bird returns to you.
Aizawa-sensei flashes a screen towards you, then the class.
“5,782.3 meters.”
The class gasps and cheers.
“I could do better,” insists the angry boy.
“Where did that ball go? I hope it didn’t break a window or something,” you say. Sensei shrugs, and you pet Zapdos, scratching his head and giving his feathers plenty of pets.
“Good boy, Zapdos.” And with another bright glow, he returns to you as your own piece of life.
“Before anything else, one must know what they’re capable of,” Sensei says. “This is a rational metric that will form the basis of your ‘hero foundation.’”
“Almost 6,000 meters? Unreal!”
“Awesome, that looks so fun!”
“We can really use our quirks now?”
“It looks fun you say?” Sensei grumbles. “So, you were planning to spend your three years here having a good ol’ time? What happened to becoming heroes? All right then. In that case, new rule: the student who ranks last in total points will be judged ‘hopeless’ and instantly expelled.”
He runs his hand through his hair and looks at the students. “Our ‘freedom’ means we expel students as we please. Welcome to the department of heroics.”
“The kid who ranks last
 gets expelled?”
“This is our first day here! And even if it wasn’t, that’s just too unfair!”
“Do you think natural disasters and ego-mad villains are fair? Japan’s drenched in ‘unfair,’ and it’s our job as heroes to reverse it and restore reason. From now on, the next three years, all you can expect from your life at UA is one hardship after the next. This is
 ‘Plus Ultra.’”
His voice is monotone, but full of passion nonetheless. He wants to make the best possible heroes out of the class, and you have a newfound respect for that.
Trial 1: The 50-Meter Dash
The first two up are Iida and a girl named Tsuyu. You don’t pay much attention, too focused on thinking what Pokemon you should use, but you see Iida rush through the 50 meters in just over 3 seconds. The actual literal engines in his calves help him pretty well with that.
Then, your name is called, and you think on the spot that it’s best to use Jolteon. It’s the fastest one you can think of on the spot, and with the figurine in your pocket, you can easily conjure him.
The electric pup takes form in no time, and you hop on his back. He’s a short pup, but he’s really strong, and you know he can take your weight.
“Start!”
You race to the finish line in 1.28 seconds, and you offer a little puppy fist bump to your Jolteon.
The boy you were racing against gets 5.51 seconds, with his quirk shooting laser beams from his stomach to propel him. It didn’t last long, though, before he fell and had to run the rest of the way.
The next duo are Midoriya and the angry boy whose name you learn is Bakugou Katsuki. Bakugou uses his explosions to shoot him forwards. Midoriya opts for running normally, and you wonder what his quirk is.
“Bakugou, nice!” you congratulate. He scoffs at you.
Trial 2: The Grip Strength Test
“Machamp! It’s your time to shine!” You conjure up the muscular Pokemon, knowing it can use a grip strength test.
Tumblr media
“Woah, 540 kgw?” You’re amazed at the boy next to you as Machamp does his stuff. “That’s insane. I’m [Y/N] [L/N]!”
“Shouji Mezou,” he murmurs.
“[L/N], your guy got 794 kgw!”
You turn to Machamp and a black haired boy with bulky elbows, impressed by your Pokemon.
“Good job, Machamp!” You fist bump him and summon him back, and he returns to you in a glow.
Trial 3: The Standing Long Jump
Flying Pokemon, easy! You pull out Zapdos again and have him fly you over the sand pit.
Bakugou uses his explosions, Aoyama uses his laser beam, Midoriya jumps normally. Iida struggles to adapt and simply runs as fast as he can to get as much momentum, but he doesn’t pass over the sand pit like many others. Then there’s Shouji, who uses his long arms to launch himself over the sand pit.
“Let’s go, Shouji!” you cheer. He looks away, embarrassed, but gives you a thumbs up.
Trial 4: Sustained Sidesteps
“Jolteon, you’re up!”
Lightning fast, he steps from side to side. No one seems to be particularly excelling in this, except a short boy named Mineta who uses his quirk to bounce back and forth.
Test 5: The Pitch
Since you already did this one, you get to sit back and enjoy watching everyone else have a turn.
The pretty girl---her name is Uraraka Ochaco---gets infinity.
“Go Uraraka! You’re just better!” you shout.
She scratches the back of her neck and blushes. “Oh, thank you!”
Then, it’s Midoriya’s turn. You know he hasn’t shone in any of the tests thus far, so you give him as much encouragement as you can.
“Go Midoriya, you can do it!” you cheer.
And then he throws it 46 meters.
“I erased your quirk.” Sensei’s hair starts floating up and his capture weapon scarf floats around him. “It defies reason; how did somebody like you manage to enter this academy?”
“You erased it? Oh my god, those goggles! You’re
 the erasing hero, “Eraserhead!”
“Eraser who? Never heard of him,” one of your classmates mumbles.
“He’s an underground hero! He’s really cool, he erases quirks, then kicks butt with that scarf of his. I want to watch him fight,” you trail off.
“From what I observed, you can’t rein in your quirk’s full power, meaning you can’t use it efficiently at all. Do you believe someone would come save you after you crippled yourself again?”
“N-no, I didn’t---”
His capture weapon snakes around the boy.
“Whatever hopes you may have nursed of your imminent rescue, as you can see, nobody is coming to save you. You have brute courage, but all you’ll manage to do is run around like a blockhead who needs to be saved himself.”
Sensei lets the boy go and squirts eyedrops in his eyes, giving Midoriya his quirk back. “Let’s get this over with, pitch it again with your quirk.”
“He’s gonna get expelled for sure.”
You hum. “I think it’ll depend on how he handles the rest of these. If he shows potential, there’s no way he’ll be expelled, even if he does come in last,” you theorise.
“Who the fuck are you?”
“[Y/N] [L/N], nice to mee-”
“Shut up extra.”
“Okay Bakugou. Bakugou, more like Buttface.”
Uraraka’s nerves for the boy calms at your silly banter. “Pft
”
“Shut it!”
You ignore the boy and focus your attention on Midoriya, pitching the ball 705.3 meters.
“Sensei!” he manages to squeak out. “I’m still standing!”
Uraraka cheers next to you and Iida tries to analyse the situation. Sensei grins at the boy in an almost menacing way.
Bakugou, however, freaks out. With explosions crackling in his hands, he lunges towards Midoriya.
“What is this, Deku? Explain now, shitrag!”
Sensei stops him with his capture weapon and takes away his quirk, rendering Bakugou useless. “Don’t make me use my quirk so much
 I’ve got dry eye, dammit.”
Bakugou loosens up and refrains from attacking Midoriya, but you can tell he’s still raging on the inside, a million thoughts running through his head a minute.
____
“Woah! [L/N], you’re so manly!”
“Awh, thanks ya! It’s mostly my Pokemon, though. You actually kicked butt, though, all you!”
The redhead scratched the back of his neck. “Oh, I try! My name’s Kirishima Eijirou!”
“Nice to meet you, Kirishima! What’s your quirk? Do you turn your body into rocks?” you question.
“Something like that, yeah! I can harden up my body so it’s strong as rocks.” He flexes, and you chuckle and poke his bicep.
“How manly!”
You scoop up your backpack and sling it over your shoulder. “Hey, do you want to trade numbers?” you ask, pulling your phone from a pocket in your backpack.
“Absolutely!”
You swap phones and type your numbers in, then trade them back. “I look forward to becoming a hero with you,” you say. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Kirishima!”
He waves as you exit the classroom, meeting up with Neito.
“Dude
You won’t believe what happened today. Remember how you said I wouldn’t need my Pokemon? Well you were dead heckn wrong!”

hoppip 1 | BNHA x Reader
The first exams were easy. Science, maths, literature, history; you could handle that. After all, your mind was more or less a computer that could keep files in it with all the information you would ever need. You finished first, and you were proud about it. Maybe a little too proud. Because cockiness found its way onto your face in a gleaming smile as you marched to the front desk to turn in your tests each time.
Unfortunately, no one was actually allowed out of the premises until everyone was done, but you were ushered into a separate room to wait. It was nowhere as big as the auditorium was, so you assumed this was one of several post exam spaces to wait. An hour passed, filled with bored pouts and endless scrolling of your phone, and the first person came in. He looked pretty confident about the written exam, and when his blue eyes glossed over you, he smirked.
“So you’re the superstar huh?”
You blink. “I am a super star, that’s for sure. How do you think you did?”
He shrugs, tossing a tuft of his blonde hair out of his eyes. “As well as anyone else, I suppose. Got some sort of memorization quirk?”
“Hmm
Kind of? That’s part of it at least. What about you? Or are you just super smart?”
The boy chuckles, flattered. “I’m just a brainiac, what can I say? Hey, are you trying out for one of the business classes? Maybe support gear? Because I wouldn’t deny some help when I become a famous hero.”
Your eyes shine into his. “Woah, you’re gonna be a hero too? Let’s be cool heroes together! We’ll smash the heck outta villains and save the heck outta innocents!” you declare. “Although,” you say, face falling as you dip into thought. “Can anyone be declared innocent? Maybe victims is a better word. Anyway.”
He smiles and raises an eyebrow. “Gonna move on from that so quickly?” You nod. “Then I suppose let’s continue. What’s your quirk, anyway?”
“I call it
 Drumroll please
” you stall. “I guess I don’t have a name for it. I basically make little creatures based on a really specific design that I have to memorise! Since they’re living, I basically take parts of my own health to create them.”
He hums. “I see. Then, it’ll be hard for me to use you,” he laments, sighing. The eager curiosity in your eyes feeds his ego. “I can copy quirks.”
He puts a hand on your wrist and thinks for a moment before conjuring up what looks like a water bottle. Then, the image fizzles out and disappears.
“Yeah, that’s what happens when you don’t have the specific blueprints. It just shows up as an illusion in the light, then poof!”
“Then poof,” he confirms, furrowing his eyebrows. “Well, I suppose I oughta see you up in the ranks. You’ll see me there as well, of course. Look for the name Neito Monoma.” He offers a hand.
You take his hand and shake it firmly, smiling. “[Y/N] [L/N]. Maybe we’ll see each other at the practical exams,” you mention.
Monoma nods. “I’m sure. Just in case, let’s trade phone numbers.”
You turn on your phone and tap away, getting into the new contacts section. You trade phones and type in your numbers, and you’re happy to have made a friend already.
The next person to come through the doors from the written exam is far from friend material, though. He glares at the two of you before storming off to a chair and putting his attention towards his phone.
You shiver. “Anyway, where did you go to junior high?”
For the remaining few hours, you talk with Monoma and learn more about him. He’s plenty nice, and pretty optimistic. Not even for a moment does it sound like he’s uncertain of anything he says. There’s a part of you that looks up to his confidence and a part that wonders how much of it is real.
You two walk out together before parting ways, saying your goodbyes and wishing each other luck. Although, he says he doesn’t need it, and you laugh at him.
“We could all use a little bit of luck. I’ll see you at the practicals,” you wave.
“Whatever you say, [L/N]. See you then.”
____
And then you don’t. You don’t see him then. You wait outside for nearly ten minutes, hoping to catch the boy on his way in, but you never see him.
You do, however, see a boy trip and nearly fall, after encountering the same angry boy from the written exams. Instinct kicks in, and you lunge forwards to keep him upright, an arm around his chest and the other wrapping around his back. You pull him back up to his feet.
“Are you okay?” you ask, checking for any injuries or scrapes on instinct in a motherly way. You brush his dark green hair out of his eyes and rub a thumb over his cheek, inspecting his freckled skin.
“I, uh, I’m okay, yeah, uh, oh gosh.” He backs up and bows deeply. “I’m so sorry!”
“For what? Stand back up before you trip again, silly boy. C’mon, let’s get inside before we’re late.”
You assume Monoma got there before you, and you take the green haired boy’s hand and march inside.
“My name’s [Y/N] [L/N].”
“I-Izuku Midoriya! That’s my name, yeah.”
You chuckle at the boy and take a seat with him.
Your pockets are deep, and you shove your hands right into them and play with the little figurines in them.
Houndoom,
Tumblr media
Lucario,
Tumblr media
Quagsire,
Tumblr media
Ninetales,
Tumblr media
Jolteon,
Tumblr media
and Togekiss.
Tumblr media
Six Pokemon you chose for the practicals, going for a very offensive team. You found that you could split your health up into about six bits before you became utterly exhausted, so you always limited yourself to six figurines to take with you. Otherwise, you’d have a bag of figurines that you’d be sifting through the whole time.
You take the Ninetales figurine from your pocket and fidget with it. Midoriya notices the little 3D printed fox and asks about it.
“What is that?”
“It’s a Ninetales figurine. I can make a version of this guy, but a real life creature.”
His eyes light up, and any sense of anxiety that he once had is gone. “Woah, how does it work? Is the figurine necessary for it? Did you create it with your quirk? How do---”
The lights shut off dramatically, and Midoriya shuts up immediately.
Present Mic steps onto stage with a wide grin and begins the presentation.
“Welcome one and all! To the UA practical exams! Can I get a ‘Yeah!’?”
The auditorium is silent, so you cup your hands around your mouth and yell as loud as you can.
“Yeah!”
He cocks a chuckle at your single response. “Love to see that energy!”
Midoriya is fanboying next to you, murmuring about his love for the hero’s radio show. The angry boy next to him tells the fanboy to shut it, and Midoriya sucks his lips in and tries his best to not make another squeak.
“Now, pay close attention, listeners! We’ll be running a ten minute exam in our replica city district! You can take whatever you like! Everybody gather at the designated meeting area after the presentation, ya hear?”
The boy next to Midoriya glances at him. “They don’t intend on letting friends or classmates cooperate with each other, huh?” he mutters.
“They gave us serial numbers for the exam, but it seems the actual meeting areas are elsewhere,” Midoriya adds, looking at the boy’s card.
“Look at me and I’ll fucking kill you.”
You shiver at the harsh words. Present Mic continues.
“We’ll be sprinkling a large number of ‘villains’ over the battlefield. They’ll appear in three different varieties, with point values scaled according to difficulty! Using each of your individual quirks, dispatch as many ‘villains’ as you can. Your goal, dear listeners, is to rack up a high score!”
The large screen behind him portrays a small version of a city along with three outlined figures. You recognise them as
A boy in front of you starts shaking his leg up and down in an uptight anticipation, and you notice that you’re doing the same and quickly try to stop yourself.
“And don’t even think about trying to sabotage each other! That’s positively against the rules, capiche?”
The antsy boy in front of you stands up with a raised arm.
“Excuse me, may I ask a question?” He doesn’t wait for an answer. “On the handout, there are clearly four types of villains listed! Yet only three are shown! Such an error would be the height of embarrassment for a top tier national school such as UA! The reason we are seated here today is because we seek guidance on the path to becoming model heroes!”
This man needs to take a chill pill, you think.
“Moreover!”
Oh gosh there’s more.
“You, curly haired kid! Can’t you stay quiet for just a second? You’re distracting! If you think UA is some joke, leave this place at once.”
“Sorry
”
You pat the boy on the back, giving him a reassuring smile.
“Okay, okay. Thanks for the segue, much appreciated, examinee 7111! The fourth type of villain you’ll encounter is worth 0 points. Have any of you ever played Super Mario Brothers before? I guess it’s rather retro
Hundreds of years old. Oh well, you remember those bricks that would fall on you?”
You perk up. “Thwomp traps!”
“Thwomp traps! Those! These zero pointers are like thwomp traps, here to thwomp you, and if you thwomp back, it’s worth nothing.”
The boy sits down after bowing so deep, you’re worried he’ll smack his forehead on the desk. “Thank you very much! I apologise for being rude!”
“Well, that’s enough from me! I’ll leave you with this: as a certain ‘hero’ by the name of Napoleon Bonaparte once said, ‘A true hero never stops overcoming misfortunes in life!’”
Is that all it takes to be a hero? You think everyone should be able to feel like a hero in their own life, once you take a second to really think about it.
“Now, let’s move onto the main event! Plus Ultra!”
“Plus Ultra!” you repeat, standing and raising a fist.
The area you’re led to is outdoors, outside of what looks like a real city. It really is impressive, you think.
So, metal robots? Houndoom and Ninetales, fire types, strong against steel. And Jolteon, an electric type, also strong against steel. You pull the three figurines from your pocket. And then, Present Mic declares the beginning.
“And start!”
You burst forwards into the city and clutch the three figurines. The three creatures form as glowing figures next to you as they take shape. In a matter of seconds, you’re in control of three mighty creatures ready to kick ass.
“What’s the matter?”
You glance behind you, a crowd shocked still.
“There’s no such thing as a countdown in a real battle! Run! Run!”
You’re happy to have gotten a head start, a cluster of people running desperately sounding like a pain to you. You turn a corner and sit in an alley and close your eyes. In a sense, you put your own life force into your own creatures, and you can control them as you wish. It might be easier to go out with them and yell demands at them, but you prefer this method, which keeps you safe and sound while still being able to go out and fight.
Controlling three separate consciousnesses is difficult, but you manage.
You think for a moment. Ninetales, Houndoom, Jolteon. Super effective against steel. We use Flamethrower on Ninetales and Houndoom, with perfect accuracy, ninety damage, and better special attack on both, we OHKO any robot. On Jolteon, we use Thunderbolt. Perfect accuracy, plus higher special attack damage, plus STAB bonus, plus super effective. OHKO any robot.
Through the eyes of your creatures, concern seeps into your main consciousness. You pull out Togekiss and create the creature in front of you and send her off. Using Fly, you scout the area and search for people in need. In a corner of an alley, two participants are nearly being squashed by a Thwomp Trap robot, a big ol’ zero pointer. You pluck the two by the collars of their shirt and fly into the sky, letting them down in a safe area.
On Houndoom, there are two zero point Thwomp Traps and four three pointers. You pull out Quagsire, a water - ground type, and use Togekiss to carry the Quagsire towards Houndoom. You use Flamethrower against the six robots, melting and destroying them, before using Surf with Quagsire to bring in waves of water to put out the flames. Togekiss pulls the participants at risk up and away from the crumbling robots and towards the edge of the city.
Focused on the scenario, Jolteon gets caught off guard from a falling piece of rubble and is crushed. Immediately, you summon Jolteon back. In your own body, you fall to your knees and try to catch your breath. This is exhausting. Your creatures can do things you can’t do, but they’re still limited by your life force. They have power you could never achieve, but their pains are very, very shared.
You keep fighting nonetheless, estimating there are still 2 minutes left. 2 minutes is a lot of time, realistically. A lot can happen in 120 seconds, especially when you have creatures that can travel the entire fake city in 2.
With Ninetales and Houndoom using Flamethrower to demolish any robots in sight, you rack up as many points as you can, and with Togekiss and Quagsire, you try to pull as many people out of danger as you can. Some are pretty pissed at you, squirming and insisting that you’re sabotaging them.
You can only reply with, “Togekiss! Togekiss!” and “Quagsire
” but you hope they understand.
And then, just as Houndoom melts another two pointer, Present Mic announces the test is over. You look up to where he’s standing, overlooking the four sectors. You can hardly see him from the distance, but you can barely make out his figure.
Making sure everyone in the vicinity of your Pokemon was safe, you dismissed the creatures and let them dissolve away in a bright glow, returning back to you in a sparkly path in the sky.
You take a deep breath and roll your shoulders, trying to ignore the immense soreness that suddenly washes over your body. Wiping sweat off your forehead, you make your way out of the fake city.
“[L/N]!”
You whip your head around.
“Monoma!”
You wait for him to catch up to you before starting to walk again.
“How did you think you did?”
“Pretty decent, I’m definitely passing. What about you?” he asks, brushing his hair out of his face. He needs a haircut, you think.
“Pretty decent. I’m really tired, though. I can’t wait to get home and go straight to bed.”
He laughs. “It was pretty exhausting. Even I am tired from today.”
“Oh, the mighty Monoma has truly been defeated,” you dramatically say.
He puts his hand to his forehead and leans backwards slightly. “Oh, the humanity!”
The two of you laugh before parting ways, saying your goodbyes and promising to message each other.
