it's a shame john has an expiry date because the sugden brothers bitching at each other is highly entertaining!

I like Joe, don't me wrong, but now I'm kind of hoping he'll end up being blamed for Nate's death.
If the writers want, they can have the pathologist determine the cause of death was due to Nate being drugged.
And Joe is known to have gone round spiking people. Plus, he turned up in the village not that long after Nate disappeared.
Shaun's reappearance seemed an interesting choice. He's already wanted by the police for what happened to Caleb and I totally thought he was a one-off character, but now he's back.
Maybe Shaun will be sticking around longer and John sees an opportunity to get the case closed once and for all.
#emmerdale#because we KNOW Cain isn't going down for it#and I doubt Tracey is either#but Joe?#well I do like him#but this story with him and Dawn has drained the life out of him#it's honestly so skippable#I'm on my phone whenever those two turn up to talk about kids or Billy or whatever

I love the Sugden chemistry between the three siblings. I haven't been that sold on John's relationship with Vic until this point but the three of them together is actually really good.
John and Robert have decent chemistry in that way that siblings who hate each other do. It's really watchable and great for Robert to have someone to play off.
I have been a John fan for a while, controversial I know, but I hope he sticks around. He and Robert have tons of potential as brothers.
#emmerdale#at this point it isn't even about what happens with Aaron#that's such a side issue#far more curious to see John and Robert do the brotherly enemies thing#and maybe become friends?#a man can dream

I saw someone say something unhinged:
"I keep forgetting John and Robert are brothers. Every time they interact I think they just need to shag and get it over with."
And honestly? I get it.
Like I know they are brothers but maybe that was a mistake?
Because they might actually have chemistry?
#emmerdale#I'm going to catch hell for this#where's that theory that John's not actually a Sugden?#because I've always maintained that was ridiculous and the show kept shutting it down#but maybe it's what this story needs?#because the other thing that this story needs might get it pulled off the air by Ofcom

People being like "they made Vinny gay?" are annoying me.
I'm no clairvoyant but I seriously doubt that. I'd put good money on him being bisexual.
I think it's clear he loved many of the women in his life, he's just also into guys.
Like why is that so inconceivable to people?

I mean sure but also... who cares?
It makes as much sense as almost anything that happens in soaps.
why is everyone so against this vinny storyline? i thought we wanted more queers.
it just doesn't make any sense imo there's been 0 hints or build up + it'd be like if the show suddenly had cain try to kiss liam out of nowhere lmao

So if and/or when Vinny and Gabby break up (which may very well not happen but let's see) I'm wondering which guy would be good to pair him with?
Not convinced that Kammy is anything other than straight but if not, probably him.
Somehow I can't see Vinny with Lewis.
Anybody else?

I think Emmerdale takes the crown of the 3 big soaps in terms of queer rep. I love it.
I know Hollyoaks is up there too, and no disrespect to it at all, I just don't watch it (and it isn't one of the "big 3").
Anyway, it's amazing how many queer characters they've got in the Dales now.
Charity, Vanessa, Mary, Aaron, Robert, John, Matty, Lewis, Arthur, now Vinny. I'm probably forgetting a few people too!
The other soaps need to pick up their game.
#emmerdale#I'm looking at you EE#give Callum and Johnny more to do#Ben needs to come back permanently#and Sukeve has been pretty quiet for a while#bring in more characters

I'm catching up on last week.
That episode on Wednesday was good. Loved Ruby realising what she'd done when the body was dredged.
The pacing and plotting was on point. Loved that we got a really grounded story in Eric, a gritty story in April, and a high octane (slightly nonsensical) story with Ruby.
Good stuff. Perhaps my one criticism is that after so long without April it was a bit weird seeing her randomly pop up but it was fine. I really liked that they were talking about how you can take a year to sort yourself out and get your GCSEs done later. It's not the end of the world to take a mental health break. Sometimes I know kids get in their heads that their entire life is ruined if they screw up and that's really unhealthy.
And I share some of the concerns people have with Joe seemingly being rehabilitated by the show but I can tolerate it for the moment. My big disappointment is that the whodunnit went out like a wet fart. It should have been Billy or someone else at Caleb or Ruby's instigation. Those two are great when they're scheming.
I also like that there are quite a lot of storylines going on that all work in parallel. We've got shady business storylines with Mack/Ross/Lewis and Kammy/Sarah, a personal health storyline with Eric, April's storyline, the Aaron/John/Robert triangle, John's manipulations, and the Miligans dealing with the fallout for Anthony. Plus Cain, Moira, Chas, and Charity being useful background characters, which I think suits them well.
It's pretty action-packed right now. Nice.
#emmerdale#I should say that I'm going to be ignoring most of the Robron content on here from now on#I would like to watch the show without the Robron commentary#so I'm staying out of that tag because I really don't need the takes

I kind of feel bad for Oliver Farnworth because I think he’s been fantastic over the last couple of months, and if he had a better and different on screen partner, I think his character would have been better received. John presents as such a contained, repressed character so he needed a more vibrant love interest to make the dynamic pop, which would’ve helped make John more likeable. There’s a lot of potential for his character, so I’m disappointed that he has such a short shelf-life.

the stupidest thing is john is usually the sort of character i’d eat up but there’s just fuck all about him
#I'll have him#Eating him up like a snack#And Oliver does seem quite sweet#One thing I actually like about how he plays his character is that he very rarely yells
