life update.........................
if u follow my ffnet u have probably gotten a notif that ive posted a new chapter of renaissance... lol ..................................................
ok here is the thing theres j 1 chapter left in that fic and it's a massive timeskip and the plot is j hikari (akisako) realizing shes in love w kaede (sorina) and then kaekari being endgame ...?? idk if i wanna post it tho!!!
more importantly ive been writing this actual fleshed out story for the occasional brain stimulation and it features most of the cast of renaissance but in college exploring careers other than food. also a lot of it centers around the fact that all the kids of the shokugeki hc couples are expected to be chefs and i honestly really liked the idea of sorina daughter not even being a chef at all despite having the god tongue... i thought why not expand on that w the rest of the kids (auden is a pure math major) and have them go to university instead ... most of the names are changed and shit (totsuki becomes the dunruth lugo school... auden dunruth is the heir... etc) ... almost everything is based off my hcs for the shokugeki couples in masquerade verse...? (for example hikari hayama's dad being dean of the dunruth lugo group in the same way that in masquerade akira is dean of totsuki) and also im writing pieces of the narrative horrifically out of chronological order with no BUT if you guys would be interested in some light reading material (that will inevitably get heavier later on bc they all have severe issues) !!! i'd be happy to share (on occasion. im talking like one update every other month at most lol)

hikari’s commission
i have come back from the dead to drop the final chapter (i skipped all the middle ones lol) of renaissance, my totsuki legacies headcanon babies or whatever. feat arato-hayama daughter and nakiri-yukihira daughter mostly
“It’s about time I redesigned Legislation,” Kaede said through the pencil between her teeth, her broad draftbook propped open on her knees. “This looks absolutely horrendous.” She was sitting on the decadent rug in Hikari’s office at Administration wearing boardshorts and one of Hikari’s crop tanks with old sketches of Totsuki’s current Legislation building spread around her.
Hikari sighed resignedly. “So you’ve said.”
Dropping the pencil to her lap, Kaede closed her draftbook and said, “I’ll have blueprints for you by next week. But that’s not important right now. Hikari, what’s wrong?”
“Why would something be wrong?” asked the chef. “Other than the fact that I forgot your 18th fucking birthday two months ago.”
Kaede rolled her eyes. “Since when have you ever remembered my birthday? You’re wearing a shirt with sleeves. There is most definitely something wrong.” She set aside her drafting materials and scooted over next to Hikari. “I know you only called me here to talk. If this was an actual commission, the current fourth seat would’ve contacted me. Did you even tell Eissan that you’re diving into Totsuki’s budget? He’ll go loopy if the monthly statement doesn’t match his record books.”
“Oh, yeah. About that. I’m not really on speaking terms with him right now.”
Kaede blanched. “Eh?”
All traces of her typical badass nature lost to the winds, Hikari rested her head against Kaede’s shoulder. “I broke up with him.”
Fuck.
There wasn’t anything she could say that would give justice to the overwhelming gravity of the statement, so Kaede pulled Hikari closer and held her in silence for a long while.
“So… you mind telling me what happened?”
“Nothing, actually. I realized I don’t want to narrow my field of vision just because he seems like the right person… right now. What was it you said? Better to break his heart now rather than later when he’s too far in.”
“Yeah.”
“I don’t want Seiya to not be in my life.”
Kaede smiled gently and shifted to face her. They were both cross-legged and their knees were touching. “Of course. But it’s going to take a while for Eissan to realize he can’t call you his girlfriend anymore. You have to give him his grace period. But don’t linger.”
“Of course not,” Hikari replied, leaning back on her elbows. “I don’t change my mind.”
“I know you don’t.”
“I don’t mean to pry, but I just want to know… why did you and Tsukasa break up?”
At this the architect gave Hikari a long look, her heterochromatic eyes suddenly full of recollections. “We were incompatible,” Kaede replied finally, and her voice was clipped.
“You must’ve hurt him pretty bad,” Hikari said, knowing this girl only spoke like that when she was feeling regret.
“Yeah.”
It occurred to Kaede then that she would give up any commission to see Hikari. She’d choose this silver haired chef with a mutant nose over the New York Times, the prime minister of Finland, the governor of California, a thousand awards and infinite accolades. Every day, any day, she would come back for Arato-Hayama Hikari the second she called.
“You’re thinking aloud again,” Hikari chuckled.
“Shut up.”
“Would you really, though?”
“What?”
“Give up your work for me.”
Kaede gave her a look and remained silent for a long moment. “Of course.”
At this, Hikari sat up and leaned forward. “And what if I told you I want you around all the time?”
“Then… I guess I would stay.”
-
If Kaede had been a chef, tonight would’ve been her gradfest. Following the graduation ceremony in the morning, the legacies of Totsuki’s 90, 91, and 92nd generations were now gathered in the ballroom of Nakiri Mansion with their parents to celebrate the end of another era of jewels at the academy.
Despite their typical inclinations to network and hold court, Kaede and Hikari hovered in the periphery of the area, staying within a few meters of the bar.
There was something different between them — it was foreign but not unwelcome. Something passionate, vibrant, and utterly charged.
Hikari looked up at Kaede over her champagne flute. She was wrapping up a conversation with Erina and Hisako about designing a building for their first joint venture because seriously what the fuck had taken them so long. Her strawberry blonde hair was tied in a high ponytail, her angular face framed with loose strands. God, her eyes. The light from the chandeliers overhead glanced off those dangerous panes of glass, more electric than lightning.
“Is it weird,” Hikari asked the three of them once the flow of words had more or less stagnated, “that I find my childhood best friend ridiculously attractive? Like… hella fucking cute?”
Kaede frowned, and for a second Hikari thought she registered a flicker of disappointment in her eyes. “I mean, not really. He’s gorgeous. Isn’t he taken, though?”
“Sorry?”
Erina said, “I thought he was dating Marui Sena.”
“Aren’t you talking about Auden?” Hisako asked.
Hikari shook her head. “I’m not talking about him.”
Kaede finished off her mimosa and gave an eyebrow raise. “Who is this childhood friend? Do I need to interrogate someone to make sure they deserve you?”
“I’ll help,” Hisako put in. “Private Investigator Arato is a little rusty but back in business.”
Without another word, before she could register the fact that everyone — their parents included — was watching them, Hikari leaned in and kissed Yukihira Kaede.
It was a fucking war. Blazing, intense.
And yet it was like the ripples in a pond. Quiet, serene.
Hikari noted with moderate amusement that Kaede was one hell of a good kisser. Whether this was due to her inherited god tongue was up to debate, but she had no time to wonder because it hit her then that Kaede was kissing her back. She set down her flute and swiveled to pin the architect against the bar, threading her fingers through her hair, closing a distance between them that did not exist. It was rare for Arato-Hayama Hikari to be more in tune with her tongue than her nose, but Kaede’s lips were warm and soft, sweet and salty at the same time, rendering everything else insignificant. Spices, mint, champagne.
When they finally came up for air, Kaede’s eyes were glazed over, the flaring purple and amber lights dimmed to a glossy ambience. But then she blinked and her expression cleared, and she commented drily, “I guess no vicious interrogation session?”
Hikari smirked as Kaede placed her glass down with all the acute precision that her occupation demanded.
“Hayama, what if I break your heart?”
“You won’t, Nakiri,” she replied, and then she kissed the architect again, ignoring their mothers’ ecstatic whooping and the congratulatory racket of everyone else in the ballroom. And that was more than enough.
This was the renaissance of emotions they’d tamped down—
No, that wasn’t it. That wasn’t it at all.
This was genesis.

oh bruh i havent been on tumblr since like october so i am just now seeing this yikes
And now Juno Velke is dead, and I’m standing here in front of you assholes that never once bothered to try and understand him. Talking about him like you ever cared. Telling you things about him you don’t deserve to know. But then again, that’s what happens after you die. You become a part of everybody.
I guess that’s all I have to say. Oh. One more thing. Just in case I haven’t made myself clear, fuck you. Yeah. That’s it. I’m sure he’s off drawing another pair of wings somewhere. I’d better go find him.

sorina @ legislation help i dont remember any of my settings/context headcanons
long time no see!
It was three in the morning and the first and second seats of fine dining’s most prestigious education establishment had essentially achieved the impossible — they had burnt microwaveable rice on a portable stove. Either of them would have vehemently blamed the ensuing shitshow on excess coffee but they were both on withdrawal at that point. Nakiri Erina and Yukihira Souma were heading back up to the first seat’s office cradling their plastic bowls of burned instant rice and avoiding eye contact out of mutual embarrassment when they came across Kurokiba Ryo smashing the living daylights out of a cockroach with his size 11 oxfords in the conference room and Alice damn near dangling from the chandelier.
“Now where in the loving hell did that come from?” Erina paused in the doorway.
“No clue,” Ryo grunted as he examined his sole. “Dead now.”
Once Alice had both feet on the ground again, she asked, “What are you two up to?”
“Paperwork and event management,” Souma said through a yawn. “We’re out of coffee. This shit’s taking forever.”
“Time flies when you drink good coffee,” Ryo told him sagely.
Alice added, “You’ll be sipping an Illy Arabica straight from the French press in a train watching the German countryside flit by, and before you know it it’ll be time to get your shit together and not forget your phone and passport when you leave like I did in Berlin.”
“Is that why you were like five hours late to that convention? You held up the proceedings for literally three hours until they decided to just move on.”
Ryo put in unhelpfully, “We also had to stop by at Kadewe for an Hermes appointment.”
Waving him off, Alice insisted, “That is really not the point. More importantly, Erina, is that fucking burned instant rice!? God tongue where!?”
Erina rolled her eyes as Souma burst out laughing. “The portable stove was the only option,” he complained defensively.
After exchanging more banter, the first two seats left the Danes to their extermination business and sat on the floor in Erina’s office. It was always hers, maybe because it was bigger, maybe because there weren’t any of Souma’s atrocious concoctions waiting to be tested in the cabinets, mostly out of habit. She sat with her back to one of the legs of the desk and he sat against the wall, their knees touching in two places. They ate the burned instant rice with some stir fried kimchi and a playlist of songs neither of them really liked, grieving for the dying summer and the tofu salad Souma had made for them yesterday instead of attending one of the meetings with the board.
“This is better than Michelin,” Erina said agreeably through clenched teeth. They’d been eating in silence for a few minutes by then.
“Oh, is it really?”
“No, this is fucking disgusting. We should’ve stuck with the tofu salad.”
“Probably.”
That night both of them slept exactly where they were sitting; his back against the wall, hers against the desk, her knees to his. Somewhere along the way, somewhere between aglio e olio and their dreams about the future, Erina drifted asleep and Souma watched her breathing slow, wishing they could stay here like this in the tail end of the dying summer forever, sitting on her floor listening to music they didn’t want to hear and imagining they were drinking coffee on a train in a world neither of them belonged to.
#ive been saying goodbye to people these last couple weeks#my fucking heart#all my stuff is in manhattan now!#big apple here we come#shokugeki no soma#sorina#yukihira soma#nakiri erina

happy new year!! you are an absolute godsend, thank you <3
i will be adding these to my bucketlist from last time lmao
hi long ass story i'm moving to nyc in the fall; would you mind introducing me to the much better brunch spots in brooklyn you mentioned the last time i asked for food recs? gotta start scouting some of those places out lol
Hey! Happy New Year! Also, on behalf of the entire east coast, welcome! 💕
Sadly, one of my favorite spots—Pearl's in Williamsburg—has permanently closed because of the pandemic.
There are two others in the Park Slope area that I really like, Piquant (good food, great ambiance, bottomless mimosas) and Burrito Bar (excellent margaritas...good fish tacos and housemade guac, although you definitely have better on the west coast).
My knowledge is a little outdated at this point because I haven't lived in Brooklyn since roughly 2018, but I recommend checking out the Secret NYC site for more places!
Also, not brunch related, but I would 100% recommend a steak dinner at Peter Luger's in Williamsburg at some point!

Sorina wine tasting date is must😍 just imagining them getting drunk and become loose is super fun 😂
It was rare enough for Erina to be seen mingling among the commoners at local restaurants, but wine tasting events were on a different level of unprecedented altogether. Needless to say, there had been a lot of firsts since she got with Yukihira.
The god tongue, who had only been exposed to the finest of wines since her grandfather deemed the legal drinking age elastic enough to permit a 14-year-old to try Dom Perignon was perched atop a barstool alongside the second seat with her arms and legs crossed regally, staring impassively at the first glass of cab sauv that had been set in front of her. Souma nudged her when he saw her expression—it had taken a few elbows to get her features to rearrange themselves from homicidal to deadpan—and she attempted to not look as if she wanted to kill the unfortunate sommelier. (literally quaking lmfao anyways)
"Come on, Nakiri. I paid a fortune for this," he said out of the corner of his mouth.
Erina smiled thinly at him. "Which is the only reason why I'm still here."
Souma could tell just by looking at her that she was making a concerted effort to seem more pissed off than she actually was — their love languages were both quality time, after all. It was something neither of them had much to give, almost to the point where it was a logical fallacy to call it their love language, but they took every chance they got to spend time alone, and it was definitely working.
The facade she'd been pulling only dissolved further with every glass the sommelier brought them. Soon enough she was joking around and taking selfies at absurd angles to post on her private story. Souma did his best to hide his smile whenever the Nakiri-ism slipped for a moment.
"Yukihira," Erina said when they were at the tail end of the wine tasting. She was still sober, there was no doubt about it, but her typical, crisp mannerism had more or less thawed.
"Yes, beb," Souma replied.
"We should do this again sometime." She raised her crystal and tapped it against his before finishing the last of the grigio.
Souma looked at her for a long moment. "You sure about that?"
"Of course," Erina grinned. "When am I not?"
"You'll complain for half the night," he reminded her.
"Of course I will," she repeated. "But that's what you're here for."
Souma laughed and ran a hand through his hair before leaning over to kiss her cheek briefly. "Love you."
i j gotta say it's been almost exactly a year since i started tumblr and i'd be lying if i said this fandom didn't change my entire life, in too many ways to list. so thank you guys, for everything. i appreciate every single one of you. looking forward to carrying this poor dying fandom w you guys for the seasons to come
