hey, guys! summer vacation just started for me, and i’m super excited about it! there are so many things that you could do during summer vacation, so i figured that making a list of some ideas that i had would be fitting for the first official day of freedom hehe :-))))
after school is out:
get that sleep that you missed out on!!
treat yourself
take a nice bath, listen to your favorite songs, eat something nice… whatever it is, just relax and enjoy your day
clean and organize things from the previous school year
it’s good to throw out old handouts that you don’t need anymore. i like to file away important papers / notes that i think that i might need again in binders and folders. after that, you could neatly put it all away in a box or on a shelf or wherever you wish!
not saying that you can’t do this, but some of my friends made a bonfire from all of their old assignments and then roasted marshmallows :’)
here’s my post on organizing systems for school that might help you out
learning
here’s my post on studying over break
review old material from the past school year
preview new material for the classes that you’re taking for the following school year
learn how to do something new
edx, coursera, and khan academy are great places to start for online courses
codecademy is also good if you want to learn how to code
ask someone to teach you a new skill like sewing or crafting
learn how to cook (basic start)
not really cooking, but if you just want something easy and quick to eat, here’s my post on study snacks
try playing a new instrument or singing something new
start a bullet journal
here’s my 2015 bullet journal post +  2016 bullet journal setup
learn a new language
here’s my language tag
outdoors
remember to put sunscreen on! protect urself :’)
go to an amusement park with your friends or family
go star-gazing on a clear night
go camping
you could even camp in your own backyard! call up a bunch of friends, set up a tent + campfire, and have fun!
go for a walk where you haven’t gone before
go ice skating to escape the summer heat
plan a picnic with your friends
go rollerskating / rollerblading
play with water
go swimming, visit the beach, have a water-balloon fight, have a water-gun battle, run through the sprinklers
grow a garden
how to create a terrarium
summer gardenings tips
try out a new sport
volunteer
go to a museum
go hiking
play in the rain (if it ever does)
ride a bike
go berry picking
have a barbecue
go running
indoors
write
start that book you always said that you would write
write some poetry or prose
try writing a short story
read a new book
try reading in a new place! sometimes, the places where you read can give you a whole different feel :)
top 100 books that everyone should read
book masterpost by @areistotle
go to the library
usually, libraries have fun summer events that you can participate in
clean your room and freshen it up a little bit
take advantage of the summer weather and open up your window!
make a playlist for yourself or someone that you know or even a fanmix!
8tracks is a really good place to start
play some old-fashioned card or board games
learn how to make friendship bracelets (link 1, link 2)
make a scrapbook or journal
try out a new hobby like photography or writing
have a sleepover with your friends
write a letter to someone and send it (yes yes go snail mail!!)
contact someone that you haven’t been in touch with for a while
make a collage
play some video games
have a private dance party in your room with your favorite music on
see a movie or episode that you’ve been meaning to watch
catch up on something that you couldn’t watch during school
hope this helped and good luck! if you’d like to request a post, go here and if you’d like to see more helpful posts, go here!! thanks :)

Kipling 100 pen cases full of pens and markers in every colour and formula. Stacks of lined paper, graph paper, blank paper, and dot paper. A planner for every aspect of your life, and a notebook for every class. This all sounds like heaven to me, but despite the allure of a studyblr-inspired, overboard collection of stationery, it isn’t really feasible. If you’re an aspiring minimalist like me and you want to keep your school supplies to a minimum, or if you just want to have a simple, classic system that works without the cost and storage needed, I’m going to help you with what you need, what you don’t need, and what you can substitute.
Pens and Markers
How many pens do you really need? The answer is pretty small, depending on what you use. Because I use Muji gel pens which tend to run out fast, I will keep two of those on hand, plus an extra Uniball pen for when they run out. That’s it. Three pens, all in black. For you, you might need only two. If you’re trying to keep it minimalist, I would say anywhere between two to four pens is all you really need. If you’re someone who does a lot of editing (like you’re taking English), you may want, for example, two black pens, a red pen, and a blue pen or something like that.
As for markers, I feel your pain. I love trying different markers, especially fineliners, and I know how pretty and attractive they can be. I currently own a set of Papermate Flairs, Stabilos, and Staedtler Tripluses, which is quite a lot, but I plan on taking only a few colours with me to university. I love colour in my notes and I’m a visual learner, so I’ll probably take my set of (I think?) 10 Staedtlers because it’s only a few basic colours and they’re very easy to transport. However if you’re not actually a visual learner and just buy fineliners and markers for the sake of having them, I recommend leaving them at home altogether.
Pencils
How many pencils do I have? One. I know this sounds strange because I’m a math and science student, but if you invest in a really high quality mechanical pencil you’ll only need one. I bought this pencil from Muji from a friend’s recommendation and I paid $7 for it which seems like quite a lot for a pencil but I can tell it’s going to be worth it and last me a long time. I normally go through quite a few cheap mechanical pencils during exams but this year, even with two math exams, this pencil is the only one I need.
Highlighters
This is another one that depends on what you’re studying and whether or not you’re a visual learner. I personally carry one pink highighter from Muji just in case, but I find that highlighting doesn’t actually help me learn. To be honest I don’t think anyone on earth colour-codes enough to need like 20 Zebra Mildliners so if you’re trying to go to the minimalist route, stick to just a couple highlighters. If you edit with highlighters or really use intense colour coding for some reason then I suggest a pack of like 5 colours, pink, yellow, green, blue, and orange/purple. That way you can colour-code without going crazy.
Ruler
If you’re a math or science student, you’ll probably need a ruler. Tip: switch out a full length/30 cm ruler for a mini one. I got a short stainless steel ruler (guess where it’s from…. Muji! 10 points to Gryffindor!) that fits in my pencil case. The only time it’s not long enough is when drawing axes on a full-sized graph but you can just move it down. It saves so much space as compared to buying a 30 cm ruler.
Calculator
Calculator is another necessity for math and science students. I don’t know if this needs to be said, but you only need one calculator. If you’re in a university math program that requires a graphing calculator, get that too, but if you’re only in high school or take the occasional math course, you can do graphing online here.
Paper
How much paper does someone really need? Instead of stocking up on paper, try to buy paper on a need-to basis. Have some on hand for your printer, some loose leaf lined paper, and some graph paper if necessary. If you take most of your notes on your laptop then you won’t need much, and if you take most of your notes in a notebook then you won’t need as much loose leaf lined paper.
Binders/Notebooks
Since I won’t start uni until the fall, this is mostly geared toward high school students, but this was my system. All year, I had just one binder. A big one that fit all three of my subjects. I would empty it out and put the notes in a drawer or safe spot at home when it started to get full. First semester, I used a big notebook with three sections for my notes. Second semester, I used three different notebooks but purely because two of the three were graph paper noteboooks that I used in my math classes, and I couldn’t find any multi-subject graph notebooks. I recommend having one binder and one big mult-subject notebook over having a binder and notebook for every class because it really saves space. I would also keep a spare folder in my backpack to put in any homework or sheets that weren’t hole-punched. I would also put tests, when I got them back, into the plastic sleeves at the front and back of my binder.
Miscellaneous
This category includes staplers, hole punches, tape, scissors, White-Out, and erasers. Do you need a stapler in high school? Probably not, if each classroom has one. Same with a hole punch. I never needed tape or scissors while at school, although I do keep some at home in my desk but mostly for crafty purposes. If you use pens regularly, keep one roll of White-Out on hand. You need one eraser. Basically, the magic number here is one: if you stick to owning/carrying one of each object you need, you’ll really minimize the amount of school supplies you carry.
Technology
As for technology, I recommend only the basics: phone and laptop. I use apps like notes, reminders, Google calendar, and Cam Scanner on my iPhone to stay organized for school. As for a laptop, right now I mostly use mine for basic Microsoft Office type uses. However I will be getting a MacBook Air soon so maybe then I’ll make a post about what school apps I use on my MacBook! Also, I just want to remind everyone that you don’t need the latest iPhone or MacBook to study well and get good grades, or even to take good studyblr pictures if that’s what matters to you. My past two laptops have been Acers and they’ve worked wonderfully for me before their untimely deaths, so don’t think you need to have a shiny $2000 laptop to do well in school because that’s a myth perpetuated by the materialistic side of studyblr.
Thank you as always for reading. If you have any masterpost requests, send them my way!

ok listen… you r literally the only person i’m telling this. just.. don’t tell anybody bud, but
i couldn’t sleep, so I decided to just start flicking through some internet TV things, like Netflix, Crunchyroll, etc.
and I found
{{ VOICE QUIVERING }}
this ANIME~~~~
Tumblr media
called “SHE AND HER CAT”.
and it’s just it’s about
this girl and her cat.
but… it’s from the perspective of the cat. who LOVES HER.
SO MUCH.
Tumblr media
and… the whole show is just about how happy he is to be her cat and how he thinks she’s amazing and the best ever
Tumblr media
it’s a whole SHOW ABOUT HOW MUCH THIS CAT AND HUMAN LOVE EACH OTHER
Tumblr media
AND HOW HAPPY HE IS TO ALWAYS BE THERE FOR HER
AND, AND, AND THE SECOND EPISODE IS JUST THEM REMINISCING ABOUT THE FIRST day they met…
Tumblr media
and i SWEAR ON MY LIFE, I am a grown 30-year-old man with a successful business
reduced to literal tears
because it made me miss having a cat SO MUCH that I just cannot deal without ranting on Tumblr!!!
I mean come on…
Tumblr media
She always comes home exhausted.
She brings the smell of a faraway town I don’t know.
I live in my own time, and she lives in her own time.
So these moments when my time and hers intersect
are more precious to me than anything
it’s SO MELODRAMATIC AND SO SWEET AND IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY
Tumblr media
FULL ON TEARS.
OUGHH MY HEART…
