I love you robots and artificial intelligence with mental illness. I love you repression being depicted as literally deleting archived data to preserve functionality. I love you anxiety attacks being depicted as a system crashing virus. I love you ptsd being depicted as an annoying pop-up. I love you anxiety disorder being depicted as running thousands of simulations and projected outcomes. I love you artificial beings being shown to be human via their own artificiality.

Had the unique privilege of being able to visit one of upstate NY's old TB hospitals - in 1909, the state mandated each county open one to handle the growing number of patients.

fun fact: Boston Museum of Science calls their evening lecture series “SubSpace”, which would be a totally innocuous math term except for the fact that, to make sure you know these lectures are higher-level and not aimed at their usual audience (kids), they chose to subtitle it “SubSpace: Adult Experiences”

oh we had SO much fun. It was very much a city-wide escape room type situation with some scavenger hunt elements. (The scavenger hunt elements did us in - at hour eight we were wiped out and tired of being on high alert for clues and missed literally the very last thing we needed to win after an hour and a half of searching.) No running was necessary, but I did have to give a lot of code words.
At one point, we were looking for someone named Matt. I talked to two random men who were Wrong Matt before we found Right Matt. One of the big ....set pieces, I guess? involved going to this tarot reading that you had to find the location of just by paying attention to the posters around town. We spent a lot of time in the library.
attending this immersive, city-wide, all-day spy-themed event tomorrow and I only have a hazy grasp as to what it will entail. should I bring glasses, and a busy jacket, for Disguise Purposes? blacklight? notebook? I'm assuming we leave the lockpicks at home but is wearing shoes I can run in overkill?

Inverted belief-based magic system. Magic is objectively real, but if you disbelieve in it hard enough it can't affect you.

A guy at the gym complimented me on how I bailed a squat and told me he'd re-rack it for me next time if I needed it.

Thank god they brought back An Amount Of Daylight That Makes You Want To Live. It was getting a bit scary for a minute there.

Hell Gate, as usual, has the best coverage, + now it’s basically the only fair coverage of campus protests. im a couple days late to this one but I was backreading news today and it stood out to me.

my partner and I have been choosing what TV shows to watch by PowerPoint pitching a selection of shows and letting the other person choose from that menu.
