It was inspiring, I feel motivated; reignited. That anything; ANYTHING is possible if you listen to your heart and stay true to yourself. Mario came from such humble beginnings, much like many of us, starting as a fragrance consultant at Sephora where he discovered a passion for makeup. By 20 years old he was assisting top Makeup Artists in NYC on fashion campaigns and from there started taking on some socialite and celebrity clients. He met Kim in 2008 and she fell in love with how he did her makeup. She said she had never felt more like her “Armenian self” in his makeup and began booking him more and more. His agent told him to drop her because she was a “reality star” that her fame was fleeting and that he would become a laughing stock among the fashion community. But he chose to listen to his heart and ended up leaving his agent to continue working with Kim because it felt right. The last thing his agent said to him was “good luck Mario. You’ll never get a Vogue Cover working with her.” Fast Forward 10 years and he is one of the most legendary artists of our generation having worked with the most celebrated actors, musicians, photographers and brands of our time with at least 5 Vogue Covers under his belt 😉. HOW INCREDIBLE IS THAT?! This moment is iconic for me and I am so beyond thankful for this experience. And @kimkardashian is so incredibly sweet and funny!
