Kirby: Meta Knight and the Monster of the Magic Stone - Chapter ☆9: Let’s Go!

Kirby and King Dedede have become good friends with Pietro.

"This is the first time I’ve had so many visitors to this island. Please enjoy my proud pirate cuisine without hesitation!"

Pietro used his skills to prepare a variety of pirate dishes.

Pirate steak, pirate hamburger, pirate fried chicken, pirate yakisoba…

King Dedede and Kirby feel like they’re dreaming.

"Awesome! Pietro, I want another pirate hamburger, another please!"

"Yes, Kirby. Eat as much as you like."

"I like the pirate steaks! Bring me more and more!"

"Look, King Dedede. You’re eating well."

The Waddle Dees were also having a great time. It was a fun mealtime.

King Dedede is munching on a steak when he asked Pietro.

"By the way, have you ever tried the Marino crab? It’s apparently a local specialty on this planet..."

"Of course I have. It was a long time ago."

Pietro nodded.

Kirby and the others yelled out loud.

"You did?! That’s great!"

"What does it taste like? Is it really that good?"

Pietro’s face lit up.

"Of course! Once you try it, you’ll never forget it. I used to make cream croquettes with a lot of Marino crab on the side. They were delicious!"

Kirby was entranced.

"Wow, that’s great! I want to try some Marino crab croquettes too!"

"If King Flotzo were gone, would we be able to catch Marino crabs again? I need to get rid of that octopus quickly with my hands!"

King Dedede said and Kirby nodded in agreement.

"Yes! The ship has been repaired, so let’s leave tomorrow morning!"

"I won’t let Meta Knight steal it from me! The octopus is mine!"

"If the octopus disappeared, we would catch Marino crabs!"

Kirby said, and Bandana Waddle Dee nodded with a smile.

"That’s right. Once crabs can be caught, everyone will follow suit. The people in the port town would be happy."

Pietro said, pondering deeply about something.

"I haven't been to the port town for a while, so I wouldn’t know. But are the town's residents having trouble catching Marino crabs?"

Bandana Waddle Dee answered.

"Yes. A food stall owner said that the town used to be much more lively. If it carries on like this, tourists will gradually stop coming."

King Dedede spoke arrogantly when Pietro had become quiet.

"Don't worry. I'll defeat King Flotzo and take back the Marino crab. I'll make it possible for everyone to eat Marino crab like before!"

Kirby clapped his hands.

Pietro nodded and chuckled, but his eyes weren't smiling at all.

After Kirby and his friends were completely full and had fallen asleep.

Pietro came to the weapons room alone.

He picked up a photo frame on the shelf and stared at it.

The photo shows Pietro when he was young, and his companion, a small octopus.

Pietro looked at the photo with gentle eyes and muttered in a low voice.

"I’ve dragged this out so far, but maybe it’s time to move on."

Pietro stroked the octopus in the photo sadly.

"Because of us, the young people are in trouble. I want to make Marinoa the lively port town it once was again. Hey… I’m sure you feel the same way, don’t you?"

Pietro turned the photo frame over and opened the safe in the corner of the room.

What he took out was a powerful sword with a purple jewel set into the hilt.

He gripped the sword tightly and muttered.

"Let's do our final big job. Pirate Pietro, let's go...!"

The next morning, Kirby and his friends woke up early and thanked Pietro.

"Thanks for fixing the ship! See you then. Come to the takoyaki party!"

"I'll defeat King Flotzo and get plenty of Marino crabs so I can eat crab cream croquettes."

Kirby and King Dedede tried to say goodbye.

But Pietro said.

"Wait. Let me come on board your ship."

"What?"

Kirby and the others were shocked.

King Dedede said.

"But you have a bad leg. A sea voyage is tough."

Pietro laughed.

"I’m a former pirate. I know more about sea voyages than you do!"

"That may be true, but…"

"I may not be good at heavy lifting, but I do have knowledge on sailing. I’ll be of help to you."

Kirby was so happy that he jumped up and down.

"Wow, thank you! Then let’s go together!"

"Oh, thank you very much."

Pietro, carrying his beloved sword, boarded the 'Morning Melody.'

Captain Vul roared, shaking his head and splashing.

"Uuuh… what a pity! Let’s hurry and chase after her, Lord Meta Knight!"

Meta Knight didn’t reply, instead turning his attention to Adventure Waddle Dee.

Adventure Waddle Dee hunches over himself and refuses to make eye contact with anyone.

"On purpose, I see."

"…Eh…"

Adventure Waddle Dee looked up in shock.

"You fell into the sea on purpose, to allow Lady Lucia to escape."

"Um… well…"

Adventure Waddle Dee nodded tremblingly.

Captain Vul cried out in anger.

"On purpose?!?! You idiot! What a foolish thing to do! Because of you, I almost drowned too!"

Adventure Waddle Dee flinched, but managed to speak up.

"I’m sorry! I really wanted to grant Lucia’s wish."

"Wish?"

"Lucia, she intended on defeating King Flotzo with her own hands and get revenge for her grandfather. Because I love and respect Pietro, I wanted to cheer her on…!"

Adventure Waddle Dee was shaking, but his eyes were sparkling.

Meta Knight stared into his eyes.

Innocent eyes. Innocent eyes that yearn for adventure and chase storybook dreams.

Meta Knight turned away and ordered Axe Knight.

"Please contact King Dedede. Let them know that Waddle Dee has been safely rescued."

"Yes!"

Axe Knight took out his communication device and flicked the switch.

But he sounded troubled.

"Hm… I can’t get through. There should be a communication device on that ship, but…"

"Don’t you know how to use it?"

Javelin Knight said.

"Come to think of it, their ship was in bad shape. Their communication device must be broken."

"Ah, I see. In that case…"

Trident Knight said.

"They’re heading for Pietro’s island. There’s a communication device over there."

"Oh, that's right. That should connect."

Axe Knight operated the communicator and began to speak.

"Hello, this is Meta Knight's 'Sunset Harmony.' Lord Pietro, can you hear me? Lord Pietro?"

He pressed the radio, and Pietro's voice came amid the buzzing static.

"Lord Meta Knight?!?! What's the matter, have you found Lucia?!?!"

Meta Knight took the communicator from Axe Knight and answered.

"Well, we did find her once, but she got away."

"I see."

Pietro sighed heavily.

Meta Knight said.

"By the way, are those guys in a dilapidated boat over there?"

"Yes, they are. We're using my tools and materials to repair the boat."

"I'm sorry for forcing such troublesome people onto you."

Then, Pietro’s voice brightened just a little.

"There’s no trouble at all. The little pink boy and the king in the red gown, they are a pleasant bunch!"

"…I see."

Apparently, Kirby, King Dedede, and Pietro get along well.

Meta Knight said.

"Please tell them that King Dedede’s subordinate has been safely rescued. I will continue to pursue Lucia and head to defeat King Flotzo. I will send his subordinate back when I have dealt with both of them."

"Okay, I’ll tell them… please take good care of Lucia."

Meta Knight ended the call and looked back at Adventure Waddle Dee.

"It is as you have heard. You will remain on this ship until King Flotzo is defeated."

"…Yes."

Adventure Waddle Dee bowed his head.

Meta Knight said.

"By the way, are you good at making tea?"

Adventure Waddle Dee was taken aback by the sudden question.

"I don’t know if I’m good at it, but I learned how to make tea from Bandana. King Dedede has praised me about it."

Adventurer uses 'senpai' to refer to Bandana WD, meaning he is his senior.

"I see. Then please, let’s put the ship on autopilot and have tea together."

Meta Knight headed towards the large cabin that served as the lobby.

Axe Knight said to Adventure Waddle Dee.

"On the battleship Halberd, the automatic cooking machine makes delicious tea, but on this ship, we take turns making tea. But none of us are very good at it."

Mace Knight nodded.

"It tastes worse than water!"

"You’re probably a little better than us. Please."

"Yes."

Adventure Waddle Dee headed to the kitchen and carefully made some tea.

He carries it into the lobby and places the cups in front of everyone.

Meta Knight was the first to lift his cup and said with satisfaction.

"It smells good. As expected from Waddle Dee."

"Thank you!"

Adventure Waddle Dee turned red.

Captain Vul and the Meta-Knights also drank the tea and praised Adventure Waddle Dee.

"Yeah, that’s good! We’re friends."

"It’s been a while since I’ve had tea that tastes like tea."

Adventure Waddle Dee smiled at the praise.

However, this was the end of the peaceful atmosphere.

Meta Knight said in a cool tone.

"Well then, let me hear from you. What did you say Lady Lucia was talking about King Flotzo?"

"…Oh…"

Adventure Waddle Dee's expression stiffened. He realized that Meta Knight had called him here not to make tea, but to get information from him.

The Meta-Knights were also looking at him with serious eyes.

Adventure Waddle Dee said stammeringly.

"She said… that he was her grandfather’s enemy. She wanted to defeat him with her own hands."

"Did she say something about the magic stone King Flotzo has? Is there a way to break the magic stone’s spell?"

"Magic stone…?"

Adventure Waddle Dee shook his head.

"No. We didn’t talk about that."

The Meta-Knights looked at each other.

Captain Vul said.

"Since he’s just a Waddle Dee, I guess they just didn’t talk much about the battle. There doesn’t seem to be any clues about what information Pietro might be hiding."

"Hmm…"

Meta Knight looked at Adventure Waddle Dee.

"So, what did you two talk about? Anything is fine, just tell me what you and Lucia talked about."

"Y-Yes…"

Adventure Waddle Dee answered while thinking hard.

"Lucia made me some hot cocoa. She also made pirate sandwiches, pirate spaghetti, and pirate pizza. She apparently learned all these from Pietro. Lucia is a really good cook!"

Captain Vul glared at Adventure Waddle Dee.

"We’re not telling you to talk about that! We’re telling you to talk about something related to King Flotzo!"

"S-Sorry!"

Adventure Waddle Dee flinched, but Meta Knight stopped him.

"I don't mind. What else did you talk about?"

"Well, well... we talked about adventure stories. Lucia knows a lot more stories than I do. She told me stories about pirate raids, exploring ruins, and treasure hunting! The most interesting one was the one about searching for treasure hidden by pirates..."

Adventure Waddle Dee's eyes began to sparkle.

Captain Vul rapped impatiently on the table.

Adventure Waddle Dee realized that he had gone off on a tangent and started blushing.

Meta Knight said.

"You—You like adventure?"

"Eh?"

Adventure Waddle Dee blinked.

However, since it was Meta Knight’s question, he straightened up and answered seriously.

"Yes, I love it!"

"That’s strange. I thought all Waddle Dees were timid."

"He's not a coward. Bandana is very courageous."

"Yes, he's the leader. But the other Waddle Dees don't like to take risks."

"Yes… yes. Dangerous things… are scary."

Adventure Waddle Dee’s voice became quieter.

He remembered that when Lucia’s pirate ship attacked, he got so excited and fell into the water.

"I’m weak, so I can’t go on real adventures. I can only read stories."

Meta Knight continued his questioning.

"What did you think of Lady Lucia?"

"Lucia is so cool. She’s brave, kind, and strong."

"Do you think she could defeat King Flotzo?"

"Of course I do!"

Adventure Waddle Dee nodded enthusiastically.

Then he leaned forward and continued.

"Meta Knight, please help Lucia’s dream come true. If Meta Knight defeats King Flotzo, everyone in the city will be saved, but Lucia will be sad. Lucia wants to avenge her grandfather with her own hands!"

Meta Knight said.

"So, you’re telling me to back off?"

Suddenly, tension rang high.

The Meta-Knights glared fiercely at Adventure Waddle Dee.

Adventure Waddle Dee said timidly.

"I-I… I never said that…"

"But that’s what you mean when you say to help make Lady Lucia’s dream come true."

"How rude!"

It was Captain Vul who raised his voice.

He yelled, banging on the table.

"This is not a child’s game! I don’t care if Lucia’s a pirate or whatever, it’s not enough!"

Adventure Waddle Dee retorted, though he flinched.

"B-But Lucia said that she was doing a lot of running and swimming to keep herself in shape in order to fight King Flotzo…"

"Don’t make me laugh! That’s like playing house compared to our training!"

"But… so…"

Tears welled up in Adventure Waddle Dee’s eyes.

The sparkle in his eyes was gone. He became small and shrunken.

Meta Knight’s voice rang out in the dead silence.

"Leave monster slaying to experienced, true heroes. It’s not for you guys to do."

"……Yes."

Adventure Waddle Dee nodded dejectedly.

Meta Knight continued.

"—I’m sure everyone has had the memory of hearing that and feeling their heart sink."

"Yes… huh… huh?"

Adventure Waddle Dee looked up in surprise.

Captain Vul and the Meta-Knights both looked at Meta Knight in confusion.

Meta Knight said.

"The adventurer who had his love of adventure trampled on, was yelled at to stay put, and cried tears of frustration. Is there anyone who doesn’t remember doing that? If so, then they’re not an adventurer."

Captain Vul said, confused.

"L-Lord Meta Knight?"

"What about you, Captain Vul? And all you Meta-Knights?"

Everyone held their breath.

Captain Vul closed his eyes and grimaced. He was probably recalling a distant memory.

Axe Knight, Javelin Knight, Trident Knight, and Mace Knight.

Everyone was facing distant memories of when they were much less mature than they are now.

Meta Knight said.

"Waddle Dee, after hearing your story, I understand very well. Lady Lucia is a great adventurer and pirate. Therefore—"

Meta Knight said, looking around at everyone.

"I have no intention of giving in. I’ll give it my all."

After leaving the lobby, Adventure Waddle Dee carried the tea set he had finished using to the kitchen.

He stood the sponge upright and thought about it while doing the dishes.

"I wonder if there was a time when you were a novice knight, Meta Knight? Was there a time when you were told to stay back and felt frustrated? I can’t believe it."

Just as he was thinking about that, Captain Vul arrived.

"Ah… ah… Waddle Dee."

Captain Vul called out awkwardly.

Adventure Waddle Dee turned around and said with a smile.

"Yes, what is it? Are you cleaning or doing the laundry? After I finish washing this, I’ll do it."

"No, that’s not it. I’m sorry about earlier."

Captain Vul bowed his head.

Adventure Waddle Dee was surprised.

"Huh...? You mean earlier...?"

"I was being awful and said something rude. Meta Knight scolded me and woke me up. I'm sorry!"

He seemed to be very embarrassed. His face was slightly red.

Adventure Waddle Dee said hastily.

"Don't apologize like that! I..."

"There is no hierarchy in the hearts of those who love adventure. I forgot such an obvious thing and acted arrogant. It's embarrassing."

"Captain Vul..."

Adventure Waddle Dee looked up at Captain Vul.

Captain Vul said.

Captain Vul shouted excitedly.

"Finally, finally, we’ve caught up! There it is, Lucia’s pirate ship! What on earth is going on? Why is she relaxing here instead of going to defeat King Flotzo? Is she scared?"

Axe Knight said.

"Is something wrong with the ship? Has it broken down and is being repaired?"

Trident Knight said.

"There doesn’t appear to be any problems…"

"There’s no one on deck. Is she resting in the cabin?"

Axe Knight said.

"Anyway, let’s try to talk to them. I’ll try to call them carefully so they don’t escape."

"…Hmmm."

Axe Knight brought out a small communication device and switched it on.

After a moment, a girl’s voice was heard amidst the buzzing noise.

"Who’s there? Do you want something from me?"

"Um, hello, is this Captain Lucia?"

Axe Knight called out, and a voice that didn’t sound like a girl’s came out with a gasp.

"Is that voice, perhaps, Mr. Axe Knight!?"

The Meta-Knights were relieved and whispered to each other.

"It’s the voice of Waddle Dee."

"Oh. So Lucia rescued him after all."

"Good for you!"

Meta Knight said, taking the communicator from Axe Knight.

"This is Meta Knight. We are sailing close to your ship."

"What!? Meta Knight!? Damn, I was wrong! I can’t believe he caught up with me!"

"Captain Lucia, there’s something I would like to ask you."

"There’s nothing to talk to you about! See you later!"

Meta Knight said quickly before the communicator was cut off.

"There must be a Waddle Dee on your ship."

"What…?"

"Waddle Dee’s master, King Dedede, is worried about his subordinates whereabouts. Please release him and return Waddle Dee to safety immediately."

"Great King, you were thinking about me…!?"

Adventure Waddle Dee choked up, as if he was moved.

Meta Knight continued.

"So you were rescued by Captain Lucia, Waddle Dee. Please come aboard our ship. We will take you to King Dedede."

"Um... well..."

Adventure Waddle Dee hesitated, looking confused.

Meta Knight wondered. The other Meta-Knights listened in surprise as well.

He must have been anxious about being held captive by a pirate. It's strange that Waddle Dee would hesitate to return to the King.

Lucia said.

"Okay. Take this guy on your ship, take him to him."

"Lucia…"

Adventure Waddle Dee seemed a little lonely.

Meta Knight said.

"Thank you, Captain Lucia. There is one more thing I would like to ask of you."

"What is it?"

Adventure Waddle Dee was desperately trying to calm Lucia down.

However, Lucia continued, in even higher spirits.

"Just so you know, we have a super high performance deluxe cannon and ultra dangerous fire weapon! Ha ha ha, we could take down your ship in no time."

Meta Knight raised one hand.

Cannonballs were fired, and pillars of smoke erupted al around Lucia’s pirate ship.

The ship was about to tip over, and Lucia and Adventure Waddle Dee screamed.

"Aaaaahh!"

"Aaaaahh!"

Meta Knight said calmly.

"That was just a warning shot, but if you don’t listen, I’ll hit you next time. I’m sorry, but your ship will be blown to pieces."

"Wha-wha-what…!"

Lucia is at a loss for words.

Meta Knight continued.

"Of course, you and Waddle Dee will be thrown into the sea, but I promise I will rescue you. However, if you become violent, I will have to deprive you of food for a while."

I don’t get this part, either.

"Wh-what did you say, you...!"

"It's to defeat King Flotzo. I hope you understand."

"How dare you even understand that, you idiot!"

Lucia's voice began to tear up.

"You won’t listen? In that case, I have no choice…"

Meta Knight was about to say.

The desperate voice of Adventure Waddle Dee came.

"Wait, Meta Knight! Don’t shoot! Lucia and I will board your ship!"

"What the?! Adventurer, you bastard!"

"Let's do as we're told, Lucia! If Meta Knight says he's going to do it, he'll definitely do it! Your pirate ship will be subdued!"

"No! Absolutely not! I won't give in to Meta Knight's threats!"

"Lucia!"

There was a thumping sound, as if Lucia was acting violently.

In between, Adventure Waddle Dee could be heard whispering something to Lucia, but he couldn't make out what they were saying.

After a short while, Lucia said in a dejected voice.

"I get it. I give up, Meta Knight. I'll obediently move to your ship."

"Thank you for your understanding, Captain Lucia. I’ll prepare the gangplank, so please come on deck."

"…Yes."

Communication was cut off.

Trident Knight said worriedly.

"They’ve quietly retreated. Maybe they’re up to something."

Captain Vul laughed.

"What could Lucia and Waddle Dee possibly be planning? They’re just newbies."

"That’s true. Anyways, let’s prepare the gangplank."

The Meta-Knights brought out long boards.

Meanwhile, two people appeared on the deck of Lucia’s ship.

Lucia is dejected and has her head down. She looks completely defeated.

Adventure Waddle Dee looked nervous.

Captain Vul yelled into the megaphone.

"Lucia’s pirate ship will be deserted, but we will retrieve it later and deliver it to Lord Pietro’s island. Don’t worry."

Lucia nodded as if she understood.

A long plank was placed between the two boats.

Adventure Waddle Dee stepped forward first.

Captain Vul said.

"Looking down makes you dizzy. Look forward and walk slowly."

"Yes."

Adventure Waddle Dee jumped onto the plank, stretched his arms out to balance himself, and walked towards the 'Sunset Harmony.'

The water was calm and there was no wind. The board was wide, so if he could just calmly cross, there would be no problem… or so it should’ve been.

But.

When he reached the middle of the plank, Adventure Waddle Dee suddenly lost his balance.

"Waaah! I suddenly feel dizzy!"

He shook his arms and wobbled his legs.

Captain Vul and the Meta-Knights yelled.

"Waddle Dee!?"

"Stand strong! Calm down!"

"Ahhh! I’m falling!"

Adventure Waddle Dee fell headfirst into the sea.

Meta Knight spreads his cape, jumps up, and dives toward Adventure Waddle Dee.

At the same time, he shouted at his subordinates.

"I’ll rescue Waddle Dee. You guys, Lady Lucia…!"

However, it was too late.

The moment Captain Vul saw Meta Knight unfold his cape, he quickly threw off his jacket and jumped into the sea.

"Lord Meta Knight! I’ll accompany you wherever you go!"

Enticed by Captain Vul’s bravery, the Meta-Knights all rushed into the sea!

"I’ll join you too!"

"I’m good at swimming!"

Everyone jumped in, shouting together.

Meta Knight quickly picked up Adventure Waddle Dee and jumped into the air.

He looked down at his subordinates while floating above them and shouted in frustration.

"What are you all doing?! Stay at your posts!"

Captain Vul answered with a splash.

"I'm so sorry... Argh! My leg cramped up! I'm going to drown!"

"Whoa, don't hang on, Captain Vul!"

"Don't pull me, dude!"

Everyone is gathered together and struggling.

Meta Knight lowered Waddle Dee to the deck and threw life rings to his subordinates.

After all the chaos, by the time everyone finally returned to the ship, Lucia and her ship had already escaped.

Meanwhile, Adventure Waddle Dee had finally regained consciousness.

At first, his head was fuzzy and he had no idea where he was.

Wrapped in a warm blanket, his whole body was warm and cozy. He could hear the crackling sound of firewood burning.

A sweet, sweet scent like cocoa wafted through the air.

"Hmmm... where am I...?"

He muttered to himself in a dream-like state.

A gruff voice asked.

"Have you noticed?"

Adventure Waddle Dee rubbed his eyes and got up.

A girl with blue hair was sitting next to him.

"I’ve seen that face somewhere before… who was it?"

Adventure Waddle Dee thought, who was in awe of the sight.

Suddenly, his memory returned and he was startled.

"P-p-p-pirates!"

The girl’s face was unmistakably that of the pirate he saw through the binoculars.

"Meta Knight’s…? No… Ah!"

Adventure Waddle Dee realized that Lucia had misunderstood.

"The ship I was on wasn’t Meta Knight’s. It was a different ship of the same model."

"The same model?"

"Yes. We rented it from the port management center. Our ship is the 'Morning Melody' and Meta Knight’s is the 'Sunset Harmony.' They are the exact same model."

Lucia was dazed and pushed her blue hair back.

Adventure Waddle Dee was about to shout out in excitement, but he realized the person he was talking to was a pirate.

Lucia continued in good spirits.

"My grandfather was a famous pirate. His name was Pietro…"

"What?! That Captain Pietro?!"

He couldn’t help but shout out loud.

Lucia nodded happily several times.

"Yeah! You know him?"

"Yes! I heard he was the hero who cut off one of King Flotzo’s legs."

"That’s him! Captain Pietro is my grandfather. I followed in his footsteps and became a pirate."

"That’s… cool!"

Said Adventure Waddle Dee, who was deeply moved.

Lucia leaned back.

"Hey, you’ve got a really good hobby. You understand the good things about being a pirate."

"Captain Pietro helped everyone in Marino. I heard he’s a hero. I respect him!"

"Yeah, me too! My grandpa is the best hero! But… he was injured in the fight with King Flotzo, lost his sense of purpose, and retired from being a pirate."

Lucia’s expression darkened.

"So I’m going to take revenge. I’m going to defeat King Flotzo in place of my grandfather. I’m determined to!"

Lucia slapped the floor in frustration.

"That guy called Meta Knight had the nerve to cut in line!"

"Lord Meta Knight…?"

"Hey, you know Meta Knight, right? If you’re not his subordinate, then what? What kind of relationship is it?"

Lucia and Adventure Waddle Dee became completely at ease and laughed together.

Lucia’s pirate ship decided to slow down.

Lucia was still worried about Adventure Waddle Dee’s health, so she was taking care of him.

Lucia and Adventure Waddle Dee became best friends. They had tea together and talked. They drank, cooked, and ate pirate dishes taught by Pietro, and told adventure stories. It was so much fun that they ended up putting off defeating King Flotzo.

Meta Knight and his crew are on board the 'Sunset Harmony' and continue their voyage in search of Lucia’s pirate ship.

The 'Sunset Harmony' is prided on being the fastest ship in the harbor, but it is no match for Lucia’s even faster ship.

In the blink of an eye, the ship was gone.

Captain Vul muttered to himself as he stood on the deck of the ship.

"That’s an incredible speed, Lucia! I’m amazed not only by the ship’s performance, but also by Lucia’s piloting skills. Don’t you agree, Lord Meta Knight?"

However, there was no reply from Meta Knight, who was standing beside him, gazing out at the horizon.

Captain Vul asked, puzzled.

"Lord Meta Knight, is there something wrong?"

"Ah… yeah. Sorry. I was thinking about something."

Meta Knight finally realized and looked at Captain Vul.

"Lord Pietro’s story is a bit suspicious. He once fought a life-or-death battle with King Flotzo and cut off his leg. The others were unable to fight. Can we really believe the story that he just missed the light of the magic stone?"

"Well, there are many ships like this. No need to report them one by one. What we’re looking for is Lucia’s ship, a pirate ship with black sails.

"But it’s the exact same type of ship… only it’s in ruins. The mast and sail are almost completely burned off… Wow!? It’s King Dedede on board! Kirby and Waddle Dee are on board too!"

Captain Vul turned pale and ran to the bow, holding the telescope to his eye.

He checks it himself and groans.

"Hmmm… that’s right! Those guys have been chasing us relentlessly! This is not the time for this! Let’s get going quickly, Lord Meta Knight!"

"Wait."

Meta Knight also took a look out the telescope and looked at Kirby and King Dedede.

"Something’s wrong. They look like they’ve been through a violent attack. They’re in bad shape and don’t seem to notice us. They’re taking turns jumping into the sea one after the other."

"What are they doing? Swimming in the sea?"

"No, that’s not it. They seem to be in a hurry… Are they looking for something that fell into the sea? Judging by the way they’re rushing, it might not just be something. Maybe someone fell in…"

"Yeah!?"

Captain Vul and the Meta-Knights were both surprised.

"If so, it must be one of the Waddle Dee Squad members!"

"Can those kids swim?"

"It’s a disaster! Let’s help rescue them!"

"That’s it. Full speed ahead!"

The 'Sunset Harmony' picked up speed and headed towards the 'Morning Melody.'

As they got closer, the tension began to build.

The Waddle Dees on board the ship are in chaos. Bandana Waddle Dee is taking command.

However, panic is spreading, with some crying and others running.

Kirby noticed Meta Knight and the others and jumped into the air.

"Ah! Meta Knight!"

"What happened, Kirby?"

Kirby flew through the air and approached the Sunset Harmony and shouted loudly.

"Something's wrong! Adventurer is lost!"

"Hey, Adventurer? Are they from the Waddle Dee Squad?"

"That's right. We were attacked by a pirate ship, and during the battle, Adventure Waddle Dee disappeared."

"What? A pirate ship?"

Meta Knight asked in surprise.

"Maybe a ship with a black sail? One with a skull pattern…"

"Yeah. Do you know, Meta Knight?"

"We are actually chasing that very pirate ship."

Then King Dedede came flying through the sky.

He looked exhausted. He had been searching for Adventure Waddle Dee for a long time.

King Dedede said in a weak voice.

"…Meta Knight, I have a favor to ask of you. One of my subordinates seems to have fallen into the ocean. I’ve been looking for him for ages, but I can’t find him. Could you please help me…"

"About that. Is it possible that your subordinate is not lost at sea, but captured by pirates?"

Meta Knight said to King Dedede who was approaching him.

"What about your ship? Are you going to leave it to Kirby?"

"Are you planning on leaving your subordinates behind on that dilapidated ship? Everyone’s anxiety is growing."

King Dedede looked back at the 'Morning Melody' once again.

A large number of Waddle Dees were pacing back and forth anxiously.

Seeing this, King Dedede nodded.

"Mm… I get it. I’ll go and repair my ship in the port town, then I’ll go after you."

Meta Knight said to King Dedede as he was about to return to the ship.

"Lord Pietro's island is closer than the port city. Why don't you go there? Lord Pietro will help repair the ship."

Kirby: Meta Knight and the Monster of the Magic Stone - Chapter ☆4: A Sudden Ship Battle!?

Lucia stood on the deck of the sailing ship, gazing at the horizon, her blue hair fluttering in the wind.

"I will definitely defeat King Flotzo with my own hands. I won't let outsiders get in my way!"

She clenched her fists and reaffirmed her resolve.

Lucia was surprised to see a white sailing ship sailing nearby.

"Isnt that the ship that Meta Knight and the others came on?! How could I, Lucia, have been caught up with…!"

Lucia muttered, her eyes glaring.

"I won't let you get in my way! Get ready, Meta Knight!"

……In fact, that was not Meta Knight and his mens' 'Sunset Harmony.'

The ship was the identical 'Morning Melody.' In other words, it is the ship that Kirby, King Dedede, and the Waddle Dee squadron were on.

Kirby and his friends are having a blast going on a full-scale boat trip.

They ate the desserts that were prepared in the refrigerator on the ship, drank the drinks, and really felt like they were at a resort.

King Dedede is lying on a deck chair on the deck, holding a tropical drink and feeling completely at ease.

"Is it the legendary pirate, Captain Pietro? He's a pirate, but he's a good guy."

King Dedede said, rising from his deck chair.

"So you’re the pirate who cut off the legs of a giant octopus. I’ll say hello to you, then. I declare that the remaining seven legs are mine."

Kirby said excitedly as well.

"Pietro, let's invite you to our takoyaki party! I want to hear all your stories. Yo!"

Adventure Waddle Dee squinted through his binoculars and cried out in a tense voice.

"I heard that Captain Pietro has retired! The person on that ship is... Ah, it's a girl! A girl with blue hair!"

King Dedede said in confusion.

"A girl? Is she a different pirate than Pietro...?"

Suddenly, at that moment.

A thunderous roar echoed, and a large column of water rose up from the surface of the sea.

Kirby, King Dedede, Waddle Dee and the others all screamed and rolled around on the deck.

Adventure Waddle Dee clung to the mast and bit into it to keep from falling.

"Cannon fire! The pirate ship is firing its cannon!"

Adventure Waddle Dee continued his report, peering through his binoculars.

"The enemy is fired up! They're firing again! Oh no! We have to fight!"

Adventure Waddle Dee jumped off the mast.

A second and a third shot came storming in quick succession.

Although it wasn’t a direct hit, the bullets went up in the air with a bang.

The 'Morning Melody' was buffeted by the rough seas and swayed like a leaf.

King Dedede roared.

"Oh come on, you disgusting pirates! I won’t forgive you! I’ll show you what happens when you pick a fight with King Dedede! Waddle Dees, we’ll fight back with our cannons!"

The 'Morning Melody' is not just a sailing ship for tourists. It is a ship that can withstand the adventure of heroes. It is loaded with serious weaponry so that it can be used for a variety of purposes.

However, the Waddle Dees are not used to handling weapons.

"Um, well, how do you fire a cannon…?”

"What if it explodes!?"

Everyone was so panicked that no one even dared to approach the cannon.

Yelled King Dedede, throwing a tantrum.

"Oh come on, that’s enough about the cannon! Warrior, bring me my hammer!"

"Y-yes!"

Warrior Waddle Dee hurriedly came over with his hammer on his shoulders.

Tool Shop Waddle Dee said to Kirby.

"I've prepared some Copy Abilities for you to use, Kirby! Fire, ice, sword, I've got it all!"

"Alright then! We will approach the enemy ship!"

The 'Morning Melody' headed toward the black pirate ship, ignoring the fierce bombardment.

King Dedede shouted as he prepared to board the enemy ship.

"Let’s go! Everyone, follow me!"

"Oh!"

The Waddle Dees roared in excitement.

The one who is most enthusiastic is Adventure Waddle Dee.

Filled with enthusiasm for his first adventure, he yelled loudly.

"You pirates! I’ll take you down! I won’t let you have your way!"

Of course, Kirby isn’t far behind.

"I’m the first one to board! Save yourselves, you pirates!"

Kirby, King Dedede, and a bunch of Waddle Dees all jump onto the pirate ship at once.

The secret weapon of Lucia’s pirate ship is the Ultra Dangerous Fire Weapon!

Kirby and his friends are shocked by the unexpected attack.

"Whoaaaah! Fire!"

"Oh no! It’s going to catch fire!"

Fire was threatening to spread to the cargo on the deck, to the masts, and to the sails.

The Waddle Dees frantically rushed to put out the fire.

"Get some sea water! Quickly!"

"Bring me more buckets!"

Neither Kirby nor King Dedede are in a position to fight.

"Hey Tool Shop, give me a water Copy Ability! I’ll put out the fire with water!"

"Give me a bucket! Come on, Waddle Dees, you’re going to get burned! Hide behind me!"

Everyone on the chaotic 'Morning Melody' was completely unaware of it.
