when I was a little kid at some point I got upset with my parents because I didn't have a crucifix in my bedroom and they did- I was like why do YOU get to be safe from vampires??? you're okay with me getting my blood sucked???? so we took a little trip to the catholic store but the one closest to us was run by a group of nuns that had been moved here from romania. I got a little baby pink cross and this sweet old nun was like 'aww, is this a baptism gift?' and I was like no. I need to be protected from vampires. and she immediately got SO serious and was like 'this is the best one we've got, you'll definitely be safe' and since she was literally from vampire land I was convinced she was like, van helsing. like the whole time my parents had been laughing about how cute my fear was but she literally Knew dracula and was taking my concerns seriously I held this over my parents for so long lmfao

A study was done on people who play video games and it showed that women's top 2 motivations are "completion" and "fantasy", but men's top 2 motivations are "competition" and "destruction".

To the surprise of no one.

What's interesting is that when they looked at the top 2 motivations by age, young people picked "competition" and "destruction" the most, just like men. However, people over 36 years old picked "completion" and "fantasy" just like women. Which seems to indicate that women's way of thinking is more mature while men think like kids and lag behind till they reach 36+ years old. I'm reaching but, not that far.

And it's evident that the games women play the least are the ones men play the most and the ones notorious for having the most hateful and toxic communities. Which is no surprise since men's primary motivations are "competition" and "destruction". Women avoid those sexist and toxic communities which means those communities remain the garbage they are, and it's a full circle.

Women mostly play mobile games as well as simulation and fantasy. And men make fun of that. But given how stressful women's lives can be and how horribly they are treated by society, it's understandable that when they play they'd want to escape and chill and create their own world. While men seem to be on a power trip through and through.

Not to say all women and men play like that of course, it's a general study.

i fucking hate how western countries say “sex work is work” and then legalise prostitution. but what happens when, for example, in germany there are not enough german women who want to become prostitutes? are they advertising prostitution to women? do they start marketing campaigns to show how cool it is to be a sex worker? do they introduce more different people (men, old, kids) to prostitution? do they open SCHOOLS to teach more people how to be a sex worker? you know, just like they do with other jobs?

really is bizarre the way fandoms largely do not like women at ALL. it’s been happening for ages but when you see people straight up just hating on women characters more often now (+ the general rise in misogyny) and then you come on here and everyone’s just pretending women don’t even EXIST in any media ever. it’s like that’s not much better. fandom isn’t activism but it does reveal people’s internal biases. like women being excluded, sidelined and erased in everythingggg. people will take characteristics that are compelling in a female character and give it to a man in fan content just so they don’t have to engage with a woman ever. fics, fan art, ships, etc. a hollywood produced movie/tv show won’t even sideline a woman as much as the average fandom blogger will
