On July 15th at 7 pm I will be at Barrow's Intense Ginger Tasting Room in Industry City for a reading along with three other incredible authors! (I sadly missed out on the February event because of Covid.) The event is free and there will be booze; please join us if you're in town!

This is Ezra. I have started calling him Lantern Eyes when I see him in the dark.

What a cutie! It’s funny you gave a cat that nickname because Lantern-Eyes’ name was inspired by the nickname of my former roommate’s cat: Pumpkin-Eyes. I was like, change the noun a little bit, and that’s catchy.

I just finished the Kystrom Chronicles audiobooks and I love them so much. They're two of my three favorite books that I've read in the last twelve months. I ordered paper copies of both from my neighborhood bookstore so I can reread all my favorite bits. I love all of your characters, but I have a particular soft spot for Indigo. I really hope Sean is right and he is going to be okay. And I also hope we get to see more of him in a third book.
Thank you so, so much!! Rereading is the greatest of compliments. ❤️
I’ve got a big soft spot for Indigo too. His and Sean’s fraught relationship was one of my favorite things to write in The Unkillable Princess because so much of it was happening in the dark back corners of Sean’s brain where Sean doesn’t like to look, which meant that Sean kept getting ambushed by his own emotions. Which meant that Indigo kept getting ambushed by SEAN’S emotions. (Not really fun for them, but very fun for me!) I love the characters in this series and there is a lot more to explore particularly when it comes to Indigo and the other Ministers, so I hope to write more!

on chapter 67 so i feel leslie could be three people. either sister or officer miles LOL. all of them fit
im also VERY worried about indigo. he isnt sleeping at all. oughhh
one of my favorite things to write in Unkillable Princess was how every character who previously knew Sean takes a look at him (harmless) with Indigo (deadly) and Tamara (threatening) and has a moment of "Buddy are you sure? are you SURE this is ok?" and Sean's reaction is "wow, it's crazy how their mental image of me doesn't match who I truly am! almost as if we create constructs of other people in our head that do not necessarily align 100% with that person's true nature. anyway I'm sure my memories of my sister are entirely accurate and I can fully predict her behavior in any given moment"
so yes, they are ALL Leslie

several months ago, my beloved fiancee--a talented artist and trained graphic designer--sat me down and told me, lovingly, that I really needed to improve my social media game. Then she introduced me to Canva. I have dutifully used Canva to make Better Graphics…but like, come on.
anyway have some Alternate Unkillable Princess promo posts
(you can still buy Unkillable Princess https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Unkillable-Princess/Taran-Hunt/The-Kystrom-Chronicles/9781837860586)

time is a railway and we are a train careening unstoppably down the tracks, heading inevitably towards our permanent end. relatedly, it has been a whole month since The Unkillable Princess has come out!!! I'm very proud of this book and I hope you have all been enjoying it.
If you have not yet had a chance to read it, you can get The Unkillable Princess from anywhere. Like Barnes and Noble: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-unkillable-princess-taran-hunt/1145681833

"Your sister now?" Lime said. "What is it with you people?"
people ask authors all the time, is there a line that you're most proud of? a poetic turn of phrase that you want to share? and I never know what to answer, because to me the beauty of the language is largely dependent on its context. Sean is never going to speak in poetry, and when he expresses an emotion that moves me, it's usually not phrased in a particularly poetic way.
However, sometimes I do make myself laugh.
Sorry, Lime.

Oh. Heh. Okay. Now there was an idea. “I know how to get in,” I said. “Why are you smiling?” Tamara said. “Sean? Why are you—”
a healthy relationship with your best friend is one in which they are struck by cold sweat terror the moment they hear that you "have a plan"

I straightened up. I felt clammy all over, but I was fully capable of walking. “We can go now.” “We could,” Tamara said, but instead of making any move to leave, she stared into the window of the restaurant with the blue light. Then she said, "Want to get a drink?"
Honestly one of my favorite parts of The Unkillable Princess to write was when Sean and Tamara get trashed and engage unwillingly in intrigue
(buy me HERE. or anywhere else, really)

The second blurb for THE UNKILLABLE PRINCESS is from Emily Jane, who wrote the amazing ON EARTH AS IT IS ON TELEVISION. Aliens show up on Earth--then leave. How does Earth react? Emily writes such amazing and varied characters (including, and most importantly, the talking cats). Her next book, HERE BESIDE THE RISING TIDE, just came out in January!
(The Unkillable Princess is available to be purchased now!)

In my Covid haze last week, I forgot to share the Unkillable Princess's wonderful blurbs from two awesome authors! The first is from Ren Hutchings, author of UNDER FORTUNATE STARS : time travel and encounters with past heroes who aren't exactly as history recorded them. UNDER FORTUNATE STARS is a ton of fun, and definitely made me tear up, too.
THE UNKILLABLE PRINCESS is available to be purchased now!

Indigo came up alongside me, where Brigid had stood. He looked at me, but I could not meet his eyes, caught in the awful yawning realization of which two persons I had brought together. In that silence, Indigo turned to Brigid. He said, “Who are you?”
Now that The Unkillable Princess has been out for a few weeks, I can talk about some more spoilery things...
The interaction between Indigo and Brigid is fraught in a way that mirrors Sean's own complicated feelings about Indigo and his role in both Sean's past and present. Also, when I was writing this scene, I couldn't think of anything Indigo could say when he met Brigid that could be WORSE than "Who are you?" and that, honestly, delighted me.

I've got so many of these graphics and I'm going to use them all. THE UNKILLABLE PRINCESS is available to buy NOW!
Sean teams up with Tamara and Indigo to find his sister in the action-packed sequel to The Immortality Thief
Having escaped the dangers of the Nameless with the Philosopher Stone data, Sean thought his troubles were over. Until he gets a call for help from his sister Brigid—his long-dead sister.
Brigid is sparse on the details, but she needs Sean to go to the Republican city of Illin to retrieve something called a "Purifier" for her. Reeling from the desperate hope that his sister is alive, Sean aims for Illin, dragging his new companions, Tamara Gupta formerly a Republican soldier, and Indigo, the Minister responsible for the destruction of Sean's home, into the fray.
But as usual, Sean hasn't quite thought this through. The three of them are all wanted by Republican authorities, and Illin happens to be on the same planet as Sean’s old friend Senator Ketel. Y'know, the one who blackmailed and nearly murdered Sean. With every move Sean makes he discovers more intrigue, more people on his tail, and more ways that his little adventure could be the spark for war between the Republic and the Ministers. And to what end? Is it really his sister, a chance for family, and safety, on the other side?
