Today's take?

I was thinking about That Line in i h8 it here. About picking another decade.

I was contemplating WHY the 1830s? Why not the 20s, 40s, etc, when they all scan the same. It doesn't feel random. It feels to me like she's specifically referencing wanting to go back to a time before information could be easily and widely relayed.

The telephone was patented in the 1870s. But then i had a thought.

So Morse code and the telegraph were developed in the 1830s.

You wanna go back to a time when the way that information was relayed through letters-- direct, confessional or conversational messages to individuals --that could take weeks, months, years to be understood. With the newest technology being the delivery of coded messages? Messages that were still limited in their spread. Messages that not everyone would understand-- dots and dashes as stand ins for individual letters.

Ok. OKAYYYY.

So many posts want to direct which song is about who on these albums, as usual. And listen. I know it's fun. BUT!!! I end up finding it so banal!!

And i was so geared up to comment on one such post about but daddy i ♡him and the comments were limited!!! HISSSSSS

So I'm sharing my thoughts here

The thoughts being: it's about no man in particular

Instead it's about the feeling of knowing that every piece of your love life, real or imagined, is going to be examined and judged by the people who claim ownership of you. It's about having that feeling of excitement the first time you see someone and having it blown to smithereens before you could enjoy it.

It's also about taking the power back-- knowing that in the end she does have some control over the narrative. Talk about giving someone a child, and watch as everyone reacts, regardless of whether or not you meant it, whether or not it was happening.

For me, so many of her songs (especially the current ones) come back to the golden cage of celebrity-- being adored and loving it but also hating it; finding solace in secrets while spilling out narratives to keep people's watching you (all the while wanting them to look away? But too afraid of what that would feel like to let it happen)

Obviously I'm not on the close friends list of any top celebs, so (tamra.gif) That's My OPINION!

Yes liking whatever album tay drops is annoying if you don't like her, but at least i have the decency to tag my excitement, unlike the people whose favorite thing is hating whatever album she drops

Idk man just come up with a tag and use it so i don't have to see whiny lil takes like 'anyone who likes this has bad taste' (yes i have bad taste but you do too babe I've seen your blog) or 'why can't you people support REAL artists' (idk kid, why do you only support the cast of sprntrl and no other actors-- WAIT what do you MEAN your blog isn't a direct and literal interpretation of what you pay attention to??)

Anyway i saw a post making fun of t fans for having bad taste with multiple 'YEAH wand erection is better' tags among a million other things and I'm just. So bored.
