Wonwoo can’t figure you out.
It’s been a few months since he’s joined the pack, quite late for a werewolf his age, but he was an omega for good reasons and he wouldn’t even be here if he didn’t owe Seungcheol, his alpha now, his life.
The process was quite bizarre, as Wonwoo never intended to join any pack to begin with–has never considered to be a part of one since he’s learned the concept of it. He didn’t even know it was possible for a werewolf to join a pack this late (he’s 26, for God’s sake), but it was one fateful evening where he almost got killed by a ghoul that Seungcheol came to his rescue.
What was even a ghoul doing out in a town?
But, then again, it was stupid of him to go out during dusk in a town he doesn’t know well enough.
Seungcheol himself almost lost his life too, and Wonwoo still remembered thinking why on earth would this man throw himself for some omega in danger that he saw by chance. But it was the way his whole pack suddenly came through and pried the ghoul off their alpha’s body that Wonwoo ever witnessed a pack move as one. And when he saw Seungcheol staggering forward, it was reflex that fueled him to catch him even though he’s a good two meters away.
And then he found out that these creatures have been lurking in this particular town when dusk comes around. Seungcheol’s pack was patrolling–had been for the past few weeks–because they kept on detecting something crossing the borders and because…who else would patrol if not them? Those humans know nothing of them and the danger that looms above their heads.
Next thing he knew, he’s visiting Seungcheol everyday because he felt like he owed the older man at least that much. Wonwoo might be indifferent and ignorant towards a lot of things, but he knows how to be grateful and he was waiting for the older guy to get back to his health before offering his gratitude and saying his goodbye.
At least that was the plan, until Seungcheol talked to him thoroughly and said there’s always an open spot for Wonwoo in his pack. Wonwoo isn’t sure what made Seungcheol say that, nor what really compelled him to say yes–but he did.
And now he’s here, three months later, trying his best to hold back hisses as you tend to his wound.
“It’s getting very concerning.” You frown, and Wonwoo wonders if you’re too close or if it’s just the wolf in him being too aware of his surroundings. He can feel your soft breath against the back of his neck, and he winces a little at the warmth against the wound and your proximity.
He’s never liked getting into fights with spirits; the aftermath is always nasty because they’re not exactly physical unless they take another being’s form–which means the werewolf's ability to heal faster doesn’t exactly work when it comes to their attacks.
“The attacks this month alone are already more than the last three months combined.”
Seungcheol passes by and pats your head before plopping down next to you on the sofa.
“I know. But that’s why we need to patrol more, Moon.”
Wonwoo tunes out the conversation, already knowing the content of it before it even finishes. The humans in this area are lucky Seungcheol’s–his also, Wonwoo guesses–pack is here to protect the territory. As much as it concerns them, the weirdness that has been happening the last few months are just urban legends or stories getting out of hand.
Why would they believe a hellhound made its way to the town, almost killing an innocent civilian being at the wrong place at the wrong time if not for Jeonghan pouncing on top of it with Minghao following close behind?
As far as they–and the victim himself–know, there was a stray dog who attacked him in the middle of the night but thankfully you were there to help him and your brothers had fended the dog off before anything could happen.
That was your work.
Wonwoo’s pretty sure the victim wasn’t that out of it when it happened; he’s definitely sober enough to register the huge monster was anything but a stray dog. But you had done your magic, summoned magic circles and used your runes, making the guy unconscious and a little disoriented when he woke up again.
Wonwoo still remembers the kind smile you offered the victim when you relayed the fabricated story of a stray dog pouncing on him and how he went unconscious for quite a bit after that. The guy didn’t question anything, whether he accepted your words because of your magic or because of the gentle glint adorning your eyes, Wonwoo would never know.
Just like how he never knows how to perceive you.
There’s something about you that pulls him in for reasons that he can’t comprehend. But he never does anything about it, doesn’t see why he should, too.
You’re a part of the pack, that much he knows. Everyone calls you Moon, and Wonwoo never finds out your actual name and now, months later, it feels a little too late to ask anyone of it or how your nickname comes to be.
Not that he’s had any business calling you so far.
At first glance, he thought you were but a mage that was a part of the pack. But he just needed a few more seconds to figure out you do have wolf blood within you even though it’s very faint; untrained wolves wouldn’t know if they don’t try to see it.
He has never seen you transform though, and while he’s seen quite a few magic users himself, he has never seen one with wolf blood. One has wolf blood for a reason: to be wolves. Not… something else. Like a mage.
Your magic mainly uses runes, and he’d see you practice from time to time even though he never lingers long enough to be bothersome. Just a glance here and there whenever he passes by.
Jisoo, Jeonghan’s mate, would sometimes join you even though she’s just there to accompany you or help you gather whatever you need for practice because Jisoo is very much human (he also doesn’t know how she ended up as Jeonghan’s mate but he’s not really curious), and she’s your only female companion within the pack.
The wolf blood within you is so–so faint that if it’s not because he already knew you are a wolf by blood, he wouldn’t suspect you’re one even a bit. Sometimes he finds himself wondering if you never transform because you can’t, but he stops the thought from going too far because it’s none of his business.
“It’s okay to come closer, you know.” Your voice is soft and your eyes are focused on the ruby stones in front of you. If not for the fact that the house is empty except for you both and Minghao sleeping upstairs, Wonwoo wouldn’t know you’re even speaking to him. “I know we don’t talk a lot, but we’re in the same pack so we should at least get along, right?”
Wonwoo doesn’t say anything, not that you expect him to, but you can hear his steps getting closer and he stands right beside you in front of your working table.
He’s a good one meter away from you, his eyes busy scanning everything that lays on top of it because it’s actually the first time he’s been this close. He doesn’t want to cross a line and he’s not that curious (nor is he nosy), so he has never tried to see even if you’re not home. There’s just something personal about this place and Wonwoo feels like he’s intruding.
“You can ask.” Your voice is so steady, so sure that Wonwoo’s wandering gaze means curiosity instead of ignorance. But Wonwoo takes the bait. He is kind of curious, has always been when it comes to runes and magic.
“Why ruby?” Wonwoo picks up the red stone, his fingers easily enclosing the cut oval before he asks. “Do you only use stones for your runes?”
He can hear the soft amusement in your grin, though unsure why you find his question amusing. It doesn’t feel like you’re mocking him though. Far from it, in fact–you’re excited that you get the chance to talk someone’s ears off about something you love most and it’s clear that Wonwoo’s asking because he’s curious, interested, and genuinely wants to know.
After that, he spends his time next to you in your practice room every time he’s able to; not enough to be called often, but definitely enough for you to register the pattern of his heartbeat everytime he makes his way there.
He doesn’t really talk, but Wonwoo can’t deny the warmth spreading through his chest everytime you light up when a particular rune shines brighter than the other, or when your practice goes better than expected.
He wonders if it’s possible for someone’s eyes to glow brighter than the moon like yours do. Is that way they call you Moon?
Wonwoo jumps when the jade runes on the table burst the exact second something crosses the border you’ve set up on the corner of the room. There’s a grin on your face and your eyes are twinkling in excitement.
They’re probably warmer than the sun, too.

Jisoo is taking you out on a date, telling you there’s a cafe she’s been wanting to try but Jeonghan doesn’t like sweets nor coffee.
“So I’m the second choice.” You mock offense, nudging her off you as she clings to your arm like a koala.
She gasps dramatically, a pout on her face as she denies the accusation. “I haven’t had you all for myself these days and I’m thinking about how I miss spending time with you, but this is what I got?”
You laugh at her antics. For all its worth, you’re glad you have Jisoo as your close (and only female) friend; she’s the sunshine your little pack needs, and while everyone was skeptical of Jeonghan’s choice in a mate at first, you know they’d all die for her if it comes to it now.
Of course no one hopes they’d encounter any situation that would call for that.
“So.” Jisoo sits down with her arms crossed, looking at you expectantly.
“So?” You quirk an eyebrow, confused as to what she’s possibly talking about.
“You and Wonwoo, huh?”
You blink once. And then twice.
What?
But Jisoo doesn’t say anything else, simply stares at you with a demanding posture. Between her tendency to be a little bizarre and to be vocal about everything that passes her mind no matter how questionable they are, you’ve always known she’ll lose her mind one of these days. But you never thought it'd happen this early.
Her stare turns into something else, almost like something clicks in her head and her mouth drops slightly before she shakes her head without words. It always annoys you when people do this (granted, you don’t know a lot of people), blatantly acting like they know something that you don’t and proceed to not tell you anything.
“What.” You finally relent; cheeks puffed out of annoyance.
“Nothing.” She shrugs, sipping her orange juice.
“Soo!”
At your whine, she laughs and leans forward on the table, elbows propped and her chin on her palms, her knowing eyes glinting with amusement like a kid given a new toy to play with.
“Just that you both have spent a lot of time together these days.”
Huh, is that what she’s referring to?
“So?”
Jisoo rolls her eyes, and you pout at the way she’s shaking her head like you don’t know what you’re talking about. Maybe you don’t.
“So.”
You look at her, unimpressed, and your friend cracks into a laugh before she reaches out to squeeze your cheeks.
“There’s nothing going on between us.” You finally relent and address it head on, Jisoo would never back down either way and you’d rather talk about it than risk a headache.
And it’s not like you’re hiding or even lying about it, there really is nothing between the two of you. Yes, he’s easy on the eyes and you may or may not be a little attracted to him, but that doesn’t mean there’s something going on between you two.
It’s just been some time since you meet someone new and the way you’d tense when he comes a little closer, or the way your heart would embarrassingly skip a beat when he steps into your practice room is nothing but a fleeting interest.
It’ll go away after a bit.
A wolf like Wonwoo wouldn’t want someone like you, anyway.
“We just talk about magic,” you offer the truth. It’s not like you and Wonwoo ever talk about anything else but your magic or the whereabouts of the pack and their patrolling schedules. None of you try to cross the line, never asking anything personal about each other even though it’s true that Wonwoo has spent more time by your side now compared to the other members of the pack. “He’s just interested in it, Soo, and I’m happy to talk about my runes.”
“He’s interested in your magic,” Jisoo insists, a teasing grin on her face.
You shake your head, and thankfully Jisoo drops the topic, not wanting to annoy you when you clearly don’t want to talk about it. She talks instead about the concerning number of attacks these days, how Jeonghan has been more antsy everytime she tells him she’s going out because he’s worried something would happen to her.
“What do you reckon is happening?”
Her tone is light, but you don’t need to be a genius to be able to detect the fear in her eyes.
The girl is fidgeting a little, and it’s at times like this that you feel like you have to be the older sister for Jisoo even though you’re younger than her. You’ve always admired her for going against everything and leaving her family behind to be with Jeonghan.
You’ve never really been a fan of romance, but you know it takes everything to be able to decide something as big as that. It’s not easy to be aware of the danger lurking in the dark, even more so when she’s just… human.
And you’ve offered to erase her memories if she chooses to leave your world and go back to her normal one, so she can live in ignorant bliss. But when she firmly rejects and says that she wants to be with Jeonghan and the pack, everyone swears they’d protect her with all their lives.
Yet, for her parents, Jisoo is nothing but a disgrace for choosing a man over her own blood.
It hurts you to know someone as sweet as Kim Jisoo is labeled a disgrace, but you also know her family has never really been a family to her–they do nothing but compare her to her older siblings who, according to human standards, are the perfect children.
And as much as it pains her to be constantly compared to the achievements of her siblings, Jisoo loves her family with all her heart. That’s just the kind of person she is. Which is why you know it took her an infinite amount of courage to tell them she’s never coming back, not offering them any explanations except that she’s going to move far away with Jeonghan who they simply know to be her human boyfriend.
Jeonghan marked her as his mate that night; a promise to take care of her for the rest of his life.
At least her siblings know deep down why she chooses to leave, and they would still update her from time to time to let her know they still want her in their lives.
“Don’t worry,” you try to sound as calm as possible, reaching for her hand as your finger grazes the bracelet on her wrist. It’s your gift for her, a protective talisman with your runes carved on the beads and magic flowing through it. The magic is connected to the rune in your necklace, and you’ll be notified once the bracelet detects danger upon Jisoo.
When the pack found out about this, they demanded to get one also and you ended up designing it for everyone; if any of you is in danger, everyone will know where to find the other. You’ve threatened them all to never take it off because you’ve even accustomed the talisman to their preferred form of jewelry.
Which reminds you, you should probably make one for Wonwoo too.
“We’ll protect you.” You grasp her hand firmly, trying to ease her worry.
She nods, and if the fear in her eyes isn’t enough, the way her heartbeat picks up tells you just how afraid Jisoo actually is.
You can’t blame her. How can you when you’re worried? The protective charms you’ve set on the town’s borders have been triggering the alarm nonstop every few days, detecting something that doesn't belong crossing to town. It has never been this distressing–has never detected so many hostile energies this often, too.
It used to be pretty peaceful even though your pack is always alert and ready–maybe only two or three creatures detected crossing the border in a month, and, most of the time, they aren’t hostile; just some faeries lost in the forest, or some nature spirits roaming the territory. The few common creatures that have to be fended off are usually wraiths, poltergeists, or maybe even other werewolves looking for troubles. (What are they thinking about, crossing another pack’s territory?)
Anyhow, since a few months ago, just two weeks before your pack’s encounter with Wonwoo, there have been more hostile creatures crossing the border, which is why you have been mostly anxious than you are alert. You know something strong crossed the border near then, but there was no attack whatsoever and the trace was so faint that you’re not able to track whatever crossed the border.
Whatever that thing is, it’s powerful. Powerful enough that you can’t detect its whereabouts despite its supposedly enormous power. Something that you probably haven’t faced yet–that you might not be strong enough to face yet.
You have a suspicion that it was the cause of all those attacks. But it doesn’t make sense, what could be strong enough to command those creatures and arrange their attacks? For what reason, too?
Nevertheless, you turn to Jisoo with what you hope to be a comforting smile and a squeeze of her hand.
“I promise Soo, we’ll protect you no matter what. And you know how to activate some of the rune stones that I’ve made for you, right? We’ve been practicing and you’re good. You’ll be fine.”
Tumblr media
Wonwoo’s munching on his cereal in the dining room when you sit down next to him. He quirks an eyebrow, asking you a silent question because you never really approach him unless you’re together in your practice room, in which you’d often ask him to get this and that as you focus on your runes.
“Do you want a ring, bracelet, or a necklace?” you blurt out without context. “Or earrings, I guess.”
His questioning gaze burns the side of your face, and you hope he’s too sleepy to realize your heartbeat runs a little faster at that. It is only 8 on a Saturday anyway.
“For what?”
You point the moon pendant on your necklace. “A protective talisman to alert us if any of the pack is in danger. Everyone has one, I’ve just realized I haven’t made yours.”
Ah.
Wonwoo has been wondering if he’s just making things up when he notices the same pattern on everyone’s jewelry, so to know that it’s you who designed them for protection… Wonwoo can’t say he’s surprised. Something within him melts at your question, whilst everyone’s been accepting and no one seems to be skeptical of his presence in the pack, he truthfully still feels like he’s an outsider at times.
It’s the product of his own wall though, he admits. Wonwoo’s used to being alone, to be independent and to care for himself. He’s not selfish, but he never really goes out of his way to help people in need unless they ask for his help–so to be in a pack that apparently goes as far as protecting an entire territory because they feel responsible for the ignorant… it’s not an easy environment to adapt to.
So far, Wonwoo really only does it out of respect for Seungcheol and the rest of his pack. He never really feels like he has to help. He’s just doing his duty as a pack member. And while it does make him feel a certain type of things to know he’s helping people who are helpless and know no better, it’s not… out of the goodness of his heart.
Which brings him here, a weird tug in his heartstring at your question which basically embeds his place in the pack. He… really is Seungcheol’s beta, huh? He’s surprised to recognize the realization isn’t unpleasant. It’s quite the contrary, if he’s honest, like a warm blanket enveloping his chest even though he still tends to be alone most of the time.
Little steps. He’s only been there for three or so months anyway.
“Something that won’t get in the way.” He nods to himself and continues eating. When you simply stare at him without saying anything, he continues. “I don’t mind an earring or a ring.”
“Your ear is pierced?”
“No.”
You look at him weirdly.
“Getting pierced wouldn’t take long.” Your eyes wandered to his ear, the tip of his hair grazing it and you have to hold yourself back from reaching out and combing your fingers through his hair. “Do you have magic to do it for me?”
“My magic is rune magic,” you deadpan. “Do you want me to pierce your ear with the edge of my stone?”
The sound of his chuckle travels through your ears, and for a second, you wonder if you’ve heard his husky laugh like this. You don’t think you have, because if you do, you’re sure you wouldn’t stare at him as if gauging that you hear right.
“But I can probably do it.” You clear your throat before he notices you staring, averting your eyes elsewhere. “I did Minghao’s too. Just don’t complain if it hurts.”
“Did he complain?”
You glare at him, and Wonwoo hides his smile by taking another spoonful of the cereal.
“Any stones you prefer?” You ask again for some reason, even though you could’ve cared less when Jihoon whined he wanted a ruby instead of an emerald. You force yourself to believe that you just don’t want to make him something you’re not sure he’d like, but you know–you know you just want to be here longer and listen to him talk more.
Wonwoo hums, thinking to himself. You let him be, content with being able to look at him without having to be conscious of it. His eyes find yours then, and you hold his gaze because you can’t look away. You see a glint of gold glow through his eyes for a second, and you cough before you avert your gaze elsewhere before he realizes your ears are getting red out of embarrassment.
You can still feel his eyes on the side of your face for what feels like hours until he eventually says again.
“Moonstone.”
Your eyes find his again, unsure why the sound of his answer makes your face feels warm.
“I think they’re pretty.”
There’s no way he doesn’t catch the jump in your heartbeat. At least you get a glimpse of his grin before he looks the other way, his amusement isn’t lost on you.
Jeon fucking Wonwoo.
Tumblr media
“An incubus?” Jeonghan’s voice rings through the silent room, the chills throughout his body obviously not due to the air conditioner in the room. Wonwoo sees you flinch a little, and then notices Minghao’s thumb softly caressing the skin near your knee. “Why would an incubus be in this town?”
Jisoo has to grip his hand to remind him to calm down, and if it’s not the warmth of her palm against his, you’re sure it’s the fear painting her eyes that makes Jeonghan exhale a deep breath and sit back down next to her.
“We saw a hellhound last month, Han,” Seungcheol reminds him grimly. “Not even in the forest, it’s literally on the main road. Pouncing on a human.”
You stare at the television, tuning out the rest of the pack’s conversation because you know they’re all antsy and it’ll be seconds away from another debate. Five young female adults have been reported missing since two weeks ago, one of them was found today–barely even sane.
“It’s the convenient store two blocks away from the public library.” Someone enters the living room with a resigned tone, making everyone turn to him at once. He’s still in his uniform, and you can feel how agitated he is from the way his shoulders tensed and the irregular pattern of his heartbeat. “That’s always the last place these girls were seen.”
“Do you have more details you can share with us?” Seungcheol asks, worried.
Chan sighs and closes his eyes in contempt. He feels utterly useless as a police officer; he knows everyone in the station believes this is a kidnapping episode, which is partly true, but they wouldn’t know what they’re going up against, that they can’t go against whatever’s kidnapping these girls either.
Since the beginning, he’s had a hunch that this must be another supernatural case and he’d have to yet again depend on the pack for this. He doesn’t want to be unsure, so he’s been keeping it to himself, but after the victim turned up and started spewing things that the other officers deem to be insane, Chan knows this can’t be normal.
“Where did you find the girl?” you ask him, bringing him out of his thoughts.
Chan is fairly new to the supernatural scene, and you know he’s being careful because he doesn’t yet understand the clear rule of this thing even though he’s already working with you for at least seven months. Before him, your pack used to work together with another guy called Kim Junmyeon, but Junmyeon has moved to another city with his family and has kindly introduced Chan to your pack as his successor last year.
It’s impossible to work on a case like this if you don’t get details (sometimes even backups) from authority. It took a while for your pack to eventually work together with Junmyeon; building the trust that he won’t tell a soul about the nature of your pack took months even though you’ve bound him with a blood pact that would never let him spill the secret the moment he found out about your kind, and then finding the dynamic and the best way to go around things without making the rest of the authority suspicious–that took you almost a year.
“Someone called 911 because they found someone unconscious on the side of the road,” he relays the info calmly. “But the hospital contacted us after identifying the girl as one of the missing persons on the news. Seungkwan was allowed to question her for a bit, but she seemed to be out of it and when he asked if the kidnapper did anything to her, she shook her head quickly and said she’s had enough–said how his eyes were glowing red and her body was tied with invincible ropes.”
You move to sit next to him, your hand rubbing his back comfortingly as you tell him to breathe because he seems so distraught it’s making you feel bad. Chan must’ve not expected this when he joined the force, and while you believe Junmyeon’s judgement and your judgement, you know he’s still easily shaken when things like this happen. His heart and sense of justice are in the right place, but it’s never easy to accept that he can’t really do anything but supply your pack support.
Wonwoo notices the slight glow on your palm, going up and down the younger guy’s back, and he can only guess you’re using your charm to make Chan relax; the guy does need it. He can see his tense shoulders easing a little, and the younger guy automatically leans to you as if to seek more comfort.
You seem tense too, have been since Jihoon brought up that it might be an incubus you’re going against. It’s a pretty obvious suggestion, if he’s being honest, though he knows that an incubus wouldn’t be that obvious unless it’s some sick power display.
As far as he knows, incubus prefers busy, metropolitan cities because there are many more unsuspecting females looking for fun. It takes longer for people to notice when someone goes missing, and they can leave the body just about anywhere when they’re done and no one would find it weird.
This town is fairly small, let alone five–having two people missing with so little time in between would quickly raise suspicions.
So why this town?
“Any more info Seungkwan got from the interview?” you coax softly, and by the way the rest of the pack simply stays silent and watches, Wonwoo guesses this has always been your role: to make people talk.
He doesn’t realize his eyes won’t leave the way your fingers are enclosed against Chan’s bicep in comfort.
“Not yet,” he sighs. “Seungkwan will get another chance to question her again tomorrow. I will inform you if we get something.”
So the pack concludes the meeting after talking a little more with Chan.
Because what else can you do?
But it’s midnight when Wonwoo finds you on the porch by yourself, your eyes a little lost and your fingers drawing patterns into your arm. By the looks of it, you either don’t notice he’s there or you’re just not acknowledging his presence (do you have werewolves hearing?). But when he clears his throat to let himself known, Wonwoo hears your heartbeat jumping for a second before it calms again at the sight of him.
It’s even calmer than the erratic heartbeat you had before.
He wonders why there’s something warm in his chest knowing his presence calms you down.
“Can’t sleep?” you ask, your arms securing the blanket around yourself further to ward off the cold.
He actually went down for water, and it’s pretty chilly outside and his pajamas aren’t doing much to warm him, yet Wonwoo finds himself saying yes and sitting down next to you on the small couch barely enough for two adults.
He’s undeniably conscious of the way your thigh presses against his.
“Can I tell you something?” you ask out of nowhere.
Despite the fact that you’ve only known him for a bit and you really only talk to him from time to time, there’s something about Wonwoo that has always comforted you.
You think it’s his solace.
Maybe it’s because you know Wonwoo knows how it feels to be alone, something that you’ve always had a problem with. Wonwoo is not lonely, that much you can tell, he’s simply content in being by himself. But you… as much as you know the pack loves you and they’d do anything for you, there’s always a part of you that feels like you don’t belong.
You’ve always envied Jisoo for being able to find her place in the pack despite being human, and you know, for her, this is the place that she belongs to. After going through a family that doesn’t value her worth, this pack is everything she could ever ask for.
But your blood makes you even more of an alien at times.
Wonwoo hums, and you take a deep breath before you let it out to him. You’re not even sure why you feel like talking about this to him; maybe he’s just in the right place when you need someone to be, maybe you’ve been bothered for far too long and he happens to be there.
Maybe you just want to talk to him.
“I’m… an outlier,” you admit with a heavy heart, and it’s the first time Wonwoo has ever felt the urge to reach for someone’s hand to comfort them. “I never found out why. But I have wolf blood without any power a werewolf is supposed to have except for the hearing. And mine isn’t even that sensitive.”
His eyes drop to your fingers, they’re gripping the material of your blanket so hard he’s sure they’d leave a mark. “My parents… their pack wouldn’t accept me. My dad kept on stalling, told them my power had just not awakened yet. They could only wait so much, eight years was already pushing it, but I was old enough to understand I wasn’t wanted–so I told my parents I’d like to live with my aunt. She’s a druid, so they’d know I’d be in good hands even though they’re reluctant to let me leave.”
Wonwoo stays silent, not because he doesn’t know what to ask but because he knows you have more to say.
“So I did. My aunt welcomed me with open arms, I helped her practice magic and I’d learned runes and everything she did for as long as she let me. She taught me about them just for fun because she knew they fascinated me. But when I turned 14, my magic awakened so she started teaching me properly.”
There’s a wistful smile on your face, and Wonwoo’s suddenly aware that you’re in a house full of werewolves. Are they awake? Can they all hear you? What will they think of you telling him this? He distinctly remembers you saying something about soundproof charms in each bedroom and a few other rooms, because constantly hearing each other really can’t be good for any of your sanity.
“I was happy, knowing that I have magic and I can do something about it. It’s not easy to be surrounded by werewolves for years and treated like you don’t belong, you know? I heard what they said, but my parents could only do so much. I longed so much for my wolf power, and even though what I got wasn’t that, I was more than happy to accept whatever I was given. I found happiness in my magic–that’s more than enough.”
You exhale a deep breath, the look in your face almost makes Wonwoo reach out and ask if you’re okay. But he feels like you’re in a trance, and he’s afraid he’d break the spell if he calls your name.
It pains him though, to know someone as gentle as you had to go through all that. Yes, he did wonder about your wolf blood, but he never thought you’re less than him even if what he assumed was true.
He’s been here for about three months, and he can’t count the amount of time he’s seen you comfort just about anyone who needs it. From Seungcheol who wouldn’t lean on anyone unless he’s about to burst, Jisoo who basically only confides you other than Jeonghan, or Minghao who would just lay his head on your lap if it’s been a long day… it’s clear to him that you’re the one that glues them together on top of their loyalty to Seungcheol and the pack.
You’re their emotional support.
And from what he gathers of your words, there’s a part of you that still feels like you don’t have a place here and he can’t even begin to think how that’s possible.
He looks up when he hears you sniffle, your eyes glossy with tears though you try your best to blink them back. “I was 19 when my aunt passed. Got taken away by an incubus and laid her life down trying to save me.”
Wonwoo actually reaches out now, his fingers finding your shoulder in hope it’ll comfort you somehow. You can feel his warmth even against the material of your blanket, and you take in a deep breath before you continue as you bask in the small form of comfort.
“I… Jeonghan found me when I was trying to run away. I was barely even conscious, having witnessed my aunt who practically raised me accepting her death,” you choke as you reach this part, and Wonwoo can’t help but scoot closer and pull you into his hold. He’s never really been one to comfort others, but what was he supposed to do when it’s just you and him and you’re being like that? Stay still?
“I fainted almost immediately,” you look down on your lap, trying your best to stay calm. You have no idea if the rapid heartbeat that’s beating against your ears is yours or his, but you really couldn’t care less because the only thing you can focus on is the feeling of his arm around you. “When I came to, I was in the pack’s house and Minghao was tending me. They said they already took care of the incubus and… yeah, that’s how I ended up here.”
Silence envelopes you both for a few moments, and it’s when you feel his fingers grip your arm a little tighter that you ready yourself for whatever he’s about to say.
You’d never expect what he says next though, and you’re already crying into his chest before you even realize.
“I’m glad you’re you.”
Tumblr media
Wonwoo hisses harshly as you tend yet another wound, another attack of some lost, angry spirit that’s thankfully not too out of control.
You hold back a chuckle with twinkles in your eyes as he glares at you, telling you with his eyes that he knows you’re purposefully putting more pressure into the wound.
Seungcheol smiles softly at the exchange, and he looks up to meet Jeonghan’s knowing eyes.
Tumblr media
It’s hard to define your relationship with Wonwoo after that. Evidently, you spend even more time together, and it almost feels like his presence alone is enough to calm you down when you’re not in your best state even though it’s only been a week or so since then.
Wonwoo would linger longer as you practice, as if trying to make sure you won’t break down crying again. And he’ll hover closer now, less reluctant about being near you to the point where it’s often for you to bump into him when you move even a little.
It’s a weird dynamic; as you both mostly talk when everyone else is not there. You’re not complaining though, and you’re thankful that despite the knowing looks the pack is giving you both, no one is saying anything about it.
You’re sure Wonwoo also notices them, but he, too, stays silent and continues his way of being around you.
Which brings you here, almost a month after that night, with Chan once again bringing bad news because, apparently, another female has gone missing since almost a week ago but is only reported to the office this morning.
“But,” he exhales deeply. “We got the missing hour because there’s a truck nearby when it happened and we got access to its dash cam.”
Everyone perks up at the news, but Wonwoo feels you tense beside him, most likely finding the thought of seeing an incubus repulsing even if you know it needs to be done. Your heartbeat jumps a little, and Wonwoo doesn’t miss a second to plant his palm on your back. You shoot him a grateful look, your heartbeat still erratic though you’ve relaxed a little, your body melting into his touch in the subtlest way possible.
Wonwoo can’t explain the tingles across his skin as you do so.
You shiver as the video plays, and you see what appears to be a man walking out of the convenience store with a woman in his arm. The woman is walking, perhaps even voluntarily if you judge from the video, but it’s easy to say her consciousness has probably been put to sleep.
He only appears for about a minute before eventually getting out of the camera’s angle. The guys watch a few times more, trying to see anything more, but you move away after the third time, sure that you’re not finding anything but an old scar opening the more you watch.
The concerned look Wonwoo throws your way makes you feel a bit better, but you can only offer him a weak smile before you settle back on your seat and get lost in your thoughts. Jisoo sits on your other side, her fingers linked with yours because everyone knows your stand on incubuses.
There have been a couple other encounters since that traumatic episode that led to you joining the pack, and while you managed to defeat the monster, you’re also incredibly shaken both times it happened. It was quite the trial to get you back to normal, the pain you’re feeling was so overwhelming that the pack could feel the torment off you.
“Is there a pattern?” Jihoon asks the million dollar question.
Unexpectedly, Chan nods his head yes.
“I don’t understand why a… uh, mythical creature would go by a code, but this guy seems to only strike a woman in her 20s, and they’re always last seen with a jacket. And, well, now we’re assuming the taken time is somewhere at 2 in the morning. We tried asking the cashiers who were on shift for the last two months, even showed them the video and asked to see their CCTV but, apparently, his face.. Uhh.. everyone describes him differently. The cashiers and the cleaners who were on shifts say the few regulars who come at those hours were usually university students, a woman in her late thirties, and two guys who usually come together. We’ve identified and talked to everyone but a few university students and some of them say they did notice a weird guy looming around sometimes but he’s always had his face covered by a shawl or mask. And, well, they say they never see him twice.”
“Some of them… can appear differently to everyone,” you say softly, fingers squeezing Jisoo’s without realizing. “This incubus must be a strong one–one that knows what he’s doing and he’s not just looking for fun. Presumably, he’s strong enough to infatuate people and make them see an image of what they consider… desirable.”
Everyone’s silent, their minds running on a thousand scenarios of what to do with the newfound information.
“And if I may remind you, these… things are demons, we can’t understand them. Maybe they do this just for fun, simply to make us confused. This is different with the incubuses we’ve encountered,” you continue, almost like a robot as the words come out of your mouth and your face remains blank. “We need to prepare more and think through this carefully before we do anything. There’s a chance he’s the one that’s been calling for the creatures the past few months.”
Seungcheol looks at you, the alpha in him almost angry at how small you seem to be right now. It’s in his nature to be protective, but he’s always been more protective of you because he knows how important your existence means to his pack, how the pack instinctively chooses to depend on you when he’s not available.
“It’s late,” he announces, even though everyone knows it’s only somewhere between 8 and 9 in the evening. It’s nowhere near late, but they have enough sense–even Chan–to know why Seungcheol deems the meeting enough. “We’ll discuss more later. Thanks, Chan.”
Everyone goes despite their worry, knowing you prefer to be alone with your thoughts and it’s not yet time for them to voice their concern. It’s Seungcheol, Jisoo and Wonwoo who stay, the alpha and the two people who are sitting beside you to begin with. Seungcheol eventually leaves too after his wolf calms down, sure that it’s okay to leave you alone. He drops a kiss on top of your head before squeezing Wonwoo’s shoulder as if to tell him to take care of you in his place and returns to his room.
“Moon?” Jisoo whispers gently, her thumb caressing the back of your hand. “Do you want to talk about it?”
You don’t say anything, but you shake your head and that’s enough for her because at least you’re answering. She’s witnessed how you had to deal with this before and it’s really not something Jisoo wants to relive again. And if she’s feeling that way, she can only imagine what goes inside your mind.
“Do you want me to leave?” she offers, sharing a concerned look with Wonwoo when you stay silent. Pressing her lips together, Jisoo translates your silence as a ‘yes’ and she whispers comfort to your ears before letting go and taking her leave.
Wonwoo moves to stand up too, figuring you wouldn’t want his presence if you don’t want Jisoo’s. But your fingers move to grasp the end of his shirt, your eyes asking him to stay. So he does–eyes meeting Jisoo’s for a split second as she sends him a gentle smile.
He sits back down next to you, your fingers now gathered on your lap as you look down on them. You’re not sure why you did that. Why did you even reach for him? Did you expect him to comfort you?
“Hey,” he nudges you a little. “You don’t need to bear it by yourself, you know?”
Your tears well up at his words, and Wonwoo quickly takes your hand in his and pulls you to his room before anyone hears you’re crying. They’re worried enough already.
“I’m sorry, I–”
“Ssh,” he cuts you off and pulls you into his embrace. “You don’t need to explain anything to me.”
You take a sharp breath at that, burying yourself further into his collarbone as you steady your breathing because you don’t want to cry over this anymore. Wonwoo’s scent engulfs you and, after so long that you don’t even remember when was the last time it happened, your wolf feels content and you almost purr at the way his arms cage you in like he’s always known that calms you down.
“Don’t feel like crying?” he asks after a while, his finger caressing your arm as you stay in his embrace. You shake your head, and he can feel your hold getting tighter around his waist. “You want to talk?”
Your fingers grip his shirt a little before you eventually nod. A thought passed by your head for a moment; wondering if you didn’t want to talk earlier because you were out in the open, or if you simply wanted to talk to Wonwoo and no one else.
Whatever it is, Wonwoo pulls you to his bed; thigh to thigh, shoulder to shoulder. You’re pressed against each other for no reason at all. You’re not complaining though, and you can even feel your wolf whine when Wonwoo steps away for a bit to rearrange something on his bedside table for three seconds.
“I’m tired…” you start, fingers digging into your palm. “I’m tired of being afraid everytime we encounter this thing.”
Wonwoo lets you speak, figuring that you’d been wanting to say this for quite some time but unsure where to unload.
“I know no one’s asking me to be okay. They’d probably ask me to stay in if that’s what’s best for me. And even though it’s not often that we see an incubus, I’m tired of freezing up at the mention of it, Won. And this one is most likely more dangerous than the ones we’ve fought before and I can’t freak out because Jisoo will be terrified and we need to protect her. But it’s not something that I can control and I’ve been telling myself that–”
You freeze when another pair of lips slots against yours, closing your eyes after a second and you melt when Wonwoo softly grasps your cheeks with his palms to deepen the kiss. Nothing else is happening though; it’s not rushed and it’s just your lips against his over and over again, your hands lay on top of his as he cups your face.
He pulls away when he feels you relax, hazy eyes finding each other before his eyes drop to your lips and he presses his lips once again for a short, chaste kiss.
“Sorry… my wolf…”
You chuckle and shake your head a little, cheeks a little warm at the way he’s still grasping your face and the way his eyes are piercing you. “Mine too. It’s fine.”
Wonwoo smiles; this is something you both would need to address, but now is not the time and he really kissed you because you seemed to panic and he wanted to stop you for a bit.
And, well, his wolf has been craving for you, which brings you both to the current situation.
“Take a breath, okay?” he whispers, squaring up his shoulders and pulling away a little even though his palms stay firm where they’re at. He asks you to breathe with him, and when he’s sure you’ve calmed down enough, he asks if you still want to talk about it.
You bite your lip at the question and, in the end, you can only repeat what you’ve told him. “I just… I’m afraid, Won. What if I’m not strong enough to fight him? To protect Jisoo? To help you guys?”
“You’re not doing this alone, Moon,” he reminds you; his deep voice is everything you need to calm your heartbeat. “I know I haven’t been here for long and you probably know this better, but… we’re a pack for a reason. We’ll find a way together and we’ll think this through together. I’ll protect you, okay?”
Tumblr media
The next two weeks, the pack is busy training and discussing strategies. You’re mostly in your room, preparing all sorts of runes that might be necessary. But, most importantly, you’re making as many protective runes as you can to make sure Jisoo would stay safe. She’d be staying at the house pack, like she always does when you’re all going out for an attack.
You’re usually okay with leaving her alone, confident that your protection is strong enough. But knowing an incubus is behind all this, you can’t help but feel like you need to put an extra layer of protection in any kind of form.
“The wards are set on all perimeters,” Wonwoo informs you as he steps into the room. He was just out with Jihoon to check on the wards around the town, making sure they’re all still intact. You’ve made sure to strengthen them too, because even though the incubus is presumably already in town, you need to make sure he’s not summoning other creatures again. “You put on wards every 3 meters around the house until it reaches the main road?”
You hum, murmuring a short thanks when he places an iced coffee on your table. “Gotta make sure Jisoo is safe. I’ve prepared preactivated runes too for her defense just in case.”
“Oh, the ones that blow up when they’re destroyed?”
“Yup.” You pop the ‘p’, and then stop what you’re doing when you remember something. “Oh, right. I meant to give this to you.”
Wonwoo looks up as you rummage through your small wooden box, pulling out a single ring with small stones adorning one side.
“It took me quite some time to find a moonstone, which is why I only managed to finish this now, but here’s your ring.”
He cocks his eyebrow when you put it on his palm, and you tilt your head to the side, not getting what he’s on about.
“Proposing to me already?”
“Wonwoo!”
He laughs when you try to pinch his side, wincing a little at the sting though he’s just glad you seem to finally relax even if only for a few seconds.
“Thanks,” he grins, putting it on his middle finger. “I was kidding about the moonstone, you know? You can just use anything and I would’ve taken it anyway.”
You shrug, telling him you need to keep it in stock anyway. You crack your neck to the side, and Wonwoo frowns at how stiff your body seems to be. He tells you to sit down on the sofa and take a short break, taking your iced coffee with him before you can protest. Just in time, Jisoo walks in with Minghao, bringing tartlets with her.
“Oh, you managed to sit her down.” Jisoo nods appreciatively, setting down the tartlets on the coffee table as she sits next to you and Minghao settles on the floor instead, his figure near your legs. “She’s been standing for too long and she wouldn’t answer when I call for her.”
“She probably tunes you out,” Minghao happily supplies, taking one of the treats and offering you a bite after he does. You happily munch on the dessert, almost choking when Minghao flips another topic. “Anyway, what was that earlier about proposal?”
Wonwoo bursts out laughing as Jisoo tries to grasp the conversation, already used to this kinda situation though it still frustrates her at times. She catches the new accessory on his finger though, and Jisoo immediately grasps his hand and shows Minghao the ring as they all continue to tease you about it.
It’s been like this since a few days ago. The pack has been teasing you both when they figure you’re comfortable enough for that. They’ve caught you with Wonwoo a lot since that day, and they kept quiet because you still looked stressed, simply grateful that Wonwoo seems to be able to comfort you more than any of them could ever do.
They know.
They know.
And they didn’t say anything, still.
But it’s a few days ago when everyone was huddled together in the living room for a movie night. Seungcheol said everyone deserves a break after the amount of training and decided that the pack should just chill together for the night.
You’re particularly tired that day, because you spent the day sparring with Jihoon to make sure you’re not rusty. It went well, but it had been quite some time since you physically trained yourself so it felt like your energy was just drained the moment you stepped into the house.
Everyone was already in the living room when the two of you arrived (minus Jisoo and Wonwoo who were preparing food in the kitchen), and after Minghao informed you it’s movie night, you quickly washed up so you could join them immediately because you’ve missed chilling and being surrounded by these puppies without talking about attacks.
Your body was moving on autopilot once you finished washing up and returned to the living room, because you’re just so drained and your body naturally seek for comfort. Before you even realized, you’re already plopping yourself into Wonwoo’s lap and your head was nestled on his neck.
Wonwoo was so startled that his arms stayed frozen, hovering over your waist and didn’t curl around your figure like they usually would when it’s just the two of you. It took you a full 5 seconds to realize why the room was strangely quiet out of nowhere, and it was already too late for you to deny anything so you just shyly hid yourself deeper into his neck and succumbed to his warmth when he finally wrapped his arms around you.
“Anyway, it will shine when any of us is in danger. My magic will tell you who’s in danger as long as you have it on.” you tell him as he inspects his ring. “And it’ll get warmer the closer you are to them so it’ll help even if it’s not much. Jisoo’s is more sensitive than ours, so what’s considered dangerous for her and for us might be different.”
“So it’s not a proposal?” Minghao asks just to be annoying.
“Okay, let’s stop about the proposal,” Seungcheol announces his presence as he leans on the doorframe, arms crossed over his chest. “My Moon is still a child and I will not allow it.”
Jisoo snickers while you laugh at that, knowing full well that Seungcheol will probably let you marry Wonwoo this instant if that’s what you want. He’s your alpha, you’re sure he knows what’s happening between you and Wonwoo before you two even realize yourself.
Which is a weird thought, because you haven’t talked about whatever it is between the two of you. You both decide to focus on the problem at hand, figuring out your relationship could wait.
But it’s clear. And it’s so obvious that your wolf craves for him. Its existence has never been this prominent until Wonwoo.
Anyway, you’re pretty sure Wonwoo can feel the pull too, and you two are just doing a very good job not entertaining the thought because, else, you would’ve jumped at him every single time you’re left alone with the guy.
“Chan’s coming in a bit. Come to the living room after you’re done with your desserts, alright?” He steps in to ruffle your hair and leaves just like that, not waiting for an answer.
You nod at that, taking a deep breath at the thought of discussing it yet again. Wonwoo catches your eyes, giving you an encouraging smile as Jisoo feeds you some more and Minghao hugs your legs before he leans his head on your knee.
You almost cry at how loved you feel right now.
Tumblr media
“I’ll be bait,” you say as calmly as you can despite the erratic way your heart is beating.
“No!” you’re not even sure who says it, probably everyone–bewildered that you would volunteer to do that.
“There’s no other choice and you guys know it.” Your tone is determined even though they know you’re scared, and they know there’s little they can do when your mind is made. You’re probably more stubborn than their alpha at that point. “He only goes for a woman. We can’t afford to use Jisoo. Do you have any other alternatives than to bait him?”
Everyone shuts up at that, knowing that you’re right. They want to believe there’s another choice, but if the incubus is as strong as you assume it to be, as you paint it to be…
“Anyway, that’s not the important bit,” you pretend to brush it off to change the topic, not wanting the guys to worry too much even though their concern isn’t groundless. “What’s important is what we are going to do after that.”
Everyone’s still wary, and you can feel Wonwoo’s burning gaze on the side of your face though you refuse to acknowledge it. You know he most likely doesn’t agree with your decision–what with the… uhh… relationship between the two of you, he does have the right to be skeptical of your decision. After all, you would be too if this was the other way around.
You’ll talk to him after this.
It’s not that hard to distract everyone with the new topic, because you do need a proper strategy and this one is like never before. After an hour or so, you’re not really listening to them, because you’re busy reading through the old book of your aunt’s to find out more about incubi.
You can’t quite describe the rush that goes through your body as you do so, and while your fear is still there, there’s a new kind of determination that flows through you at the thought of defeating an incubus that’s been wreaking havoc in your little town. Perhaps, the thought crosses your mind, this could be your chance of finally making peace with your past.
The few incubi that you’ve encountered were weak enough to be defeated without you having to use any exceptional magic–some defensive and fire runes and they’re done for. But this one? You’ve been practicing your magic, exerting yourself to summon fire and control your surroundings even though that’s not your expertise.
Wonwoo, Seungcheol, and Jisoo have been taking turns in scolding you, because they can tell you’re getting more and more drained the more you practice. On one hand, they understand where you’re coming from, why you’ve been doing it–but on another, it’s obvious that you’re getting paler by the day and they don’t see what good it would do if you’re not even going to be in your prime condition later on.
It’s midnight when Wonwoo finds you perched on the balcony, and the scene looks awfully familiar to him as he remembers that time he found you alone–the night when it all began.
“Moon?”
You hum to acknowledge him, though you don’t turn and you hear him closing the door before you ask, “Can’t sleep?”
Wonwoo chuckles at the question, the exact same one you asked him those nights ago.
“Was looking for you.” He’s glad he can say it out loud now, no longer having to be careful with his affections towards you.
“Miss me already?” you joke, reminding him it was just an hour ago you were together in the living room before everyone left for bed. Unexpectedly, Wonwoo hums an affirmation, his deep voice whispers a low ‘yes’ before his arms cage you from behind, his chest meeting your back.
Wonwoo’s more affectionate since that day, not that you’re complaining, and even though he still lays low with the PDA, it is true that he’s been more touchy for some reason. You think it’s his wolf, because, like right now, it’s become his favorite thing to just bury his nose to the crook of your neck like a puppy. It tickles, but you welcome the sensation of his warm breath against your skin so you don’t intend to say anything about it.
“Want to share your mind?” he asks after placing a soft kiss on your neck, his chin on your shoulder. The position must’ve been uncomfortable–what, with his height and all–but he doesn’t seem to mind and you don’t have any reason to refuse his touch.
“You know.”
And he does. He actually does. And it stirs something within him to know there’s little to nothing he can do to help you feel better. His arms move to hold you by the waist instead, and it’s crazy how serene he’s feeling despite the rowdy rhythm his heart is beating into when you snuggle further into his embrace, your thumb caressing his arm.
He knows you don’t need words right now, knows that nothing that comes out of his mouth would comfort you in any way–he’s said all that he could say too, and if he were to say those again, it would just be repetitions and he imagines he wouldn’t like those if it was him in your position.
So he doesn’t say anything and you don’t either. But you slightly pull from him just so you can turn around and take your turn to bury your nose against his neck. You’re not sure how long the two of you spend just standing like that–simply reveling in the way that you’re against each other under the moonlight, his arms around you and his (now) steady heartbeat beating against your ear.
And for the first time in two weeks, you can finally relax and stop thinking about whatever kind of doom that awaits your pack.
[𓇬𓇬𓇬]
The attack will take place in three days. The pack (and Chan) has agreed that would be the perfect time because it’s going to be a full moon and their wolves are always stronger during a full moon–even yours. You always feel the most like a werewolf during those times, something that your parents know, also the reason why they’ve taken to calling you ‘Moon’.
That said, it’d be the safest time for you to be bait because your wolf would be stronger on top of your magic. They’re still unhappy with this part of the plain, but have long accepted that they’d never win against your made mind.
Jeonghan, Seungcheol, and Wonwoo are currently out on patrol while everyone else is at the pack house. Jihoon is probably sleeping while you, Jisoo, and Minghao are in the living room talking about magic. Minghao has a little magic within him, not strong enough to use it for fights though it helps to make them trip or get confused from time to time. And Jisoo, well, she finds it fascinating, still.
You’re telling Minghao about runes when Jeonghan barges into the living room, breath heavy and chest heaving hardly like he’s run a marathon, his hurried voice calling your real name and you know it couldn’t be good. Did something happen during the patrol?
Seungcheol is right behind him, and he’s looking at you with something akin to guilt that he immediately drops to his knees and buries his face into your middle. His arms are holding you a little too tight that it slightly hurts, but it’s the look in Jeonghan’s face that gets your heart rate spiking beyond control and goosebumps on your skin.
“They got Wonwoo.” The room immediately goes silent at that, and what he says next barely even registers to you as you look at him wide-eyed, your heart immediately dropping to your stomach and you stay frozen where you’re at. “We–we got ambushed and… and they took him. I’m sorry, Moon.”
Jisoo is quick to take your hand, and you’re so shaken that your mouth keeps on opening and closing without anything coming out of it.
Seungcheol whimpers as his arms tighten even more around you, and you can’t tell if he’s upset or agitated. Probably both; he’s an alpha whose beta has just been taken, presumably right under his nose too. He keeps on whispering something that sounds like apologies.
“We tried to go for him but they masked their smell and we got tricked and–”
“Did they leave anything?”
The older man flinches at your curt tone, though he’s still more worried than he is scared. He nods nevertheless, and he hands you a black feather that you inspect with blank eyes though your minds are already running with a thousand scenarios of how to get Wonwoo back safe and sound.
“This…” you close your eyes in contempt as you finally recognize the feather. “Were you… was there a harpy when you were attacked?”
You release a frustrated sigh when Jeonghan nods. “They’re baiting us. They want us to find them. Harpies’ feathers don’t fall off. They don’t shed, they leave it on purpose so we can track them.”
It’s almost like something switched within Seungcheol at the revelation, and his emotion is so prominent that everyone except Jisoo slightly cowers at his alpha mode, your wolves submitting to him. Jihoon even turns up, his wolf recognizing the distress of his alpha and the whole pack that he woke up not long after Jeonghan and Seungcheol arrived.
“So they want us to attack?” Seungcheol practically growls as he stands up tall, his fingers balled into fists. “Call Chan and tell him there’s a change of plan. If he doesn’t answer in five minutes, we’re doing this without him.”
Chan picks up on the first ring and arrives ten minutes later.
The strategy, to put it simply, doesn’t really exist. The whole bait thing is obviously off the table and now that you know for sure where they’re at, you just need to pick the right time to go and how you’re going to infiltrate them.
If what you assume is true, they must’ve been waiting for you to arrive, too. Are they expecting an attack? Do they want to taunt you? This doesn’t make sense to you.
But, then again, your mind is all over the place because the only thing you can focus on is that they’ve got your Wonwoo and who knows what they’re doing to him now, what they will be doing to him if you don’t come as soon as they wish you to be. They wouldn’t be kind enough to wait for the full moon, knowing you guys are a pack of werewolves.
“As far as I know, there’s an abandoned lab there,” Chan supplies helpfully after you’ve successfully pinpointed their location. “It belonged to an old hospital that’s acquired by a new management, and the new owner couldn’t be bothered to take care of the lab because that building actually belonged to another owner and not the one they bought the hospital from? Anyway, that’s why that building is abandoned and, uh, no one really bothered to do anything about it.”
“Do you have the layout?”
“No,” Chan shakes his head. “But I know it’s just a two-level building with a lot of rooms. Storages, you know? I reckon the layout itself shouldn’t be too complicated. What might be a problem is that… it’s long and big. Imagine a small hospital. Or maybe school? It’s of that size.”
“Okay,” you exhale a deep breath. “So we split. Seungcheol with Jihoon, and Jeonghan with Minghao.”
“And you?” Seungcheol’s so repulsed by the thought of you going in alone that his eyes glowed golden for a bit. You plant your palm on his arm in hope it will calm him down, and it does, at least enough for his eyes to turn back into its hazel shade and you tell him you don’t mind going in with either group.
“Chan, you stay at the pack house with Jisoo. Protect her and be mindful of our signal just in case we’d need police backup, Jisoo would know and she will tell you.” You instruct him carefully, and then proceed to run over the preactivated runes with Jisoo once again. You’ve even given Chan some too just in case, and you have him practice with you while the others get ready. You don’t want to risk anything happening to Wonwoo, so you’ve all unanimously decided that you must go tonight.
You zone out helplessly as you play with your necklace, a glimpse of hope running past you because it hasn’t reacted at all–which means Wonwoo is safe. He’s not put in any immediate danger for your charms to react.
A strong hand finds your shoulder, making you jump a little and taking you out of your trace. “We’ll save him. Wonwoo will be fine.”
Seungcheol sees a speck of gold glistening through your eyes for a millisecond, something that he has never seen in you.
“He has to be.” Your voice is barely a whisper, but it’s firm and it sounds like a promise. He almost flinches at your next words, and he knows if it comes to it, there’s nothing he can do to stop you. “I’ll destroy them if he’s not.”
[𓇬𓇬𓇬]
Unfortunately, Chan is wrong.
The house is way more complicated than he makes it to be and you’re pretty sure Jeonghan and Minghao are fighting against something by the faint sound of growls and things falling to the ground from the other side of the building.
At least the place isn’t as guarded as you prepared yourselves for. Either the incubus is too arrogant for his own good, or you haven’t encountered his subordinates yet. You’ve expected each room to be guarded, but safe for the hellhounds that were guarding the front gate and whatever creatures Minghao and Jeonghan are fighting against; there’s nothing else yet.
But, then again, you shouldn’t be jinxing yourself because, next thing you know, a harpy and what you assume to be a ghoul are attacking the three of you. The ghoul throws you to the wall hard enough that there’s a little crack when you slide down the wall, Seungcheol turns to where you’re at and growl. You groan from the sudden pain, but you attack back immediately after you stand back on your feet, whispering spells as you throw your runes at them.
That’s enough seconds for Seungcheol and Jihoon to take control of the situation.
You activate your other runes while you’re at it, making sure the two monsters wouldn’t be able to leave the room. You’re about to draw a magic circle when you feel your pendant warming up, and by the bewildered look Seungcheol and Jihoon send your way, you know they’re both aware why it’s warming up.
Wonwoo.
“Go!” Seungcheol screams, pouncing on the ghoul as Jihoon takes care of the harpy. “Find him! We’ll catch up with you.”
You nod with determination and then set up a few other runes before you run out of the room. Wonwoo’s near enough for your bracelet to react, and you run to wherever your feet are taking you, only to freeze on the spot when you see Wonwoo being chained down like he’s some kind of criminal deserving such confinement.
He looks up at you, and you almost cry at how weak he looks despite the clean state of his face–no blood whatsoever. If you’re not too blinded by your worry and the overwhelming feelings of seeing Wonwoo again even if it has only been hours, you’d realize how easy things seem to be. Spending hours thinking about what these things might be doing to Wonwoo feels like years, you admit no matter how dramatic that sounds.
Your worry mixed with fear does not make a good recipe even for only a few hours.
You kneel in front of him, gentle hands cradling his cheeks as you examine his worn out face. There’s not a single scratch on his face, but he might as well look like his soul is sucked out of his body little by little and his eyes are a little empty that tears prick your eyes.
“What did they do to you?” you whisper weakly. Wonwoo doesn’t even have the energy to answer you, though his eyes find yours and he sends you a defeated smile. He coughs at the effort to do that, and that’s when you snap out of it and immediately try to rid him of the chains on his wrists.
“Uh, don’t think it’s a good idea,” an eerie voice greets you, which makes you take a protective stance in front of Wonwoo. You gulp as you take the man in front of you, and if the aura he’s emitting alone isn’t already telling you that he’s the incubus, the horns protruding between his hair certainly did the job. “You see, if you try to force open that chain, that… uh, necklace he has on will thrust silver into his neck and, well, we don’t want that, right?”
The creature has it in him to grin at the pure rage in your eyes when you glare at him, only then realizing they’ve put on a collar on Wonwoo that’s apparently lethal for his being.
“What do you want?”
“In a hurry, are we?” he whistles as he glances at Wonwoo staggering behind you. “I think your furry mate isn't in any condition to go anywhere though?”
You try your best to calm down, because he’d want you unfocused and all over the place. Whatever it is that he wants from your pack, it must have something to do with you if it’s Wonwoo he’s taken.
“What do you want.” You press, not wanting to spend any more second in his presence if you can help it. If not for you then definitely for Wonwoo. If the collar is actually infused with silver as he claims it to be, it’s no wonder Wonwoo is rendered this way. The matter is lethal to werewolves and your neck is tightening at the thought of it; you can only imagine how Wonwoo is feeling.
You’ve never liked dealing with creatures with human natures; they’re too cocky for their own good and it’s getting under your skin. Monsters, you can easily deal with–defeat them and that’s it. But creatures like incubuses, shapeshifters, demons, and so on have human natures and they enjoy instilling fear–enjoy that they’re making the other party scared shitless. They taunt and taunt and taunt until you’re no longer sure which one’s a bluff and which one’s an actual threat.
It’s not enough that you’re scared. They want you confused and they want to play with your minds.
“Okay, because you’ve so politely asked.”
You truly don’t know how he managed to hold you against him within seconds, his scent engulfing you and you almost whimper in fear at the way he noses your hair. And for the first time since you’ve arrived, you see Wonwoo snap his neck up and he practically growls with every strength he still has in him.
“Sol.” He calls for someone, and a wraith appears immediately, bowing his head so low in front of the incubus he almost folds himself in half. “Release the dog.”
Sol treats him so roughly that you step forward to intervene, enraged by the way they address him, but the incubus holds you in place from behind, the hands on your shoulders bringing shivers down your spine, and whispers closely against your ear, his voice firm and brings chills throughout your body.
“Behave, doll. You know what we can do to him,” he reminds you, his teeth grazing your ear that you shiver at the touch. You’d probably be crumbling with fear if not for Wonwoo–your worry for him overrides your traumatic experience with incubi. You want Wonwoo safe, whether you are also safe or not is not important.
What’s important is you don’t want Wonwoo anywhere near this thing and you’re going to make it happen no matter what.
Wonwoo slumps forward the moment he’s released from the chain and the collar, and he coughs so violently like he’s drawing out blood. It doesn’t take him long to get back on his feet though, and even though he’s still weak, there’s an enormous amount of rage within him at the way you’re held against the demon which fuels his body even if his strength was basically nonexistent.
It’s then that he realizes Sol is still holding him, a silver knife against his throat so you both immediately freeze as if breathing would even hurt him.
“Tsk,” the incubus clicks his tongue in annoyance, his fingers descending to your arm and running down your skin. “Ungrateful kids. I released you from your chain and that’s the attitude you’re giving me?”
He grins at the way you go stiff on his hold; a maniac grin so wide that it brings shivers even to Wonwoo who’s a good two meters away.
“Can you guys smell this?” he mocks, his nose nuzzling your neck and Wonwoo tightens his jaw at the sight–agitated and boiling with fury because no one should do that to you; no one should make your eyes sting with fear and your body turn into stone.
He’s worried. But, above all, he’s angry and he feels so fucking useless because he can’t do anything but watch you hopelessly from where he’s at–with a silver knife against his throat that he can feel himself weakening yet again.
What did he say? That he’ll protect you?
What a fucking joke.
“You can’t?” His mocking voice resonates once again, and you can feel his smirk even if you can’t see it yourself. You’re trying your best to focus on Wonwoo instead, and even though your body is still frozen in fear because this incubus is basically pressed against you and you can feel your throat closing up–either from your fear of the proximity or because you can’t stand to see Wonwoo like this, so weak that he’s probably using everything he has to stand on his feet.
Probably both.
“I thought you dogs have such a great sense of smell,” he continues his monologue, still holding you against himself. “But since I’m so kind, I will generously let you know. It’s the smell of dread. Of horror, and, oh, it’s the second most beautiful thing I’d ever encounter. Almost as beautiful as your sexual energy.”
You don’t think it’s possible, but you stiffen even more at his words. These creatures are sexual beings, and you forgot about it because you’re too busy worrying over Wonwoo and your initial fear towards those things have more to do with the death of your aunt than anything. But now that he mentions it–
“And you’re so powerful too,” he hums against your neck, lips grazing your skin and you genuinely feel like throwing up at the contact. You can’t do anything; not when he has his subordinate pressing a silver knife against Wonwoo’s throat, the smallest cut and Wonwoo would probably be paralyzed for God knows how long and the after effect once he wakes up wouldn’t be pretty, too. “You probably knew I took him to bait you, didn’t you? Smart little thing.”
“Get away from her.” Wonwoo growls, his eyes shining bright golden as he does so. Sol presses the blade’s spine deeper to Wonwoo’s neck, unamused with his move.
“Oh, mutt has something to say?” His voice is so sickening, and you hate yourself so much for being immobile under his grasp, unable to do anything but close your eyes when his fingers brush your cheek, his forefinger and thumb stopping on your chin to tilt it up. “Open your eyes, doll. You don’t want to disobey me.”
Your sight is blurry when you do, glassy with tears though it’s still clear to you that Wonwoo is whimpering on the ground, the silver pressed tightly against his neck can easily cut through his skin if Sol tilts the blade even slightly.
They’re doing this to play with you and Wonwoo, and you ask once again what it is that he wants just so Sol would put the knife away from him. What even is Wonwoo suffering for?
“Oh, it’s not obvious?” he slurs his voice, his palm now fully grasping your cheek so you’d turn to him.
Wonwoo tightens his jaw at the scene in front of him, wondering if the guys are still busy outside and if it’s still going to take them long to come here.
He doesn’t want to be rash–can’t be either because the silver pressed against his skin is draining his strength away. He can’t even stand up at this point, and his consciousness is slowly slipping away because the blade keeps on touching his skin. But you look so pale and pretty much petrified that he just wants to do something–anything that would make the aghast look on your face go away.
Wonwoo’s trying his best to stay still as the incubus nuzzles his nose further into your neck, and something is burning in his chest at the way you flinch and hold your breath as he sees the fingers on your arms clutching your tighter.
“Why do you think I’ve been taking those girls? Summoning those creatures?” he drags on. “I’m not interested in humans. Their energy runs out fast and they’re not fun to play with. You… on the other hand.”
You detest the way he's scenting your cheek, his lips grazing the skin there as he grins wider at the way you’re almost shaking from his touch. “Powerful little thing, aren’t you? These mutts wouldn’t last a day without your help fighting those things. I know you already put two and two together; smart girl wants to wait for the full moon to attack, hm?”
You’re thinking of ways to get away from this thing, but anything sort of reckless wouldn’t do good as much as you wish to just use your rune and make a run for it. There’s too much at stake, but most importantly, you can’t risk the wraith actually gashing Wonwoo. What are the members doing outside? How much longer would you have to wait for them? You need at least two of them here, serving as a distraction to buy time so you can use your magic.
“I can’t wait to taste you, doll,” he bares his teeth, and Wonwoo’s fuming even more than he already was, which you didn’t think was possible.
And it’s then that the door bursts open, Seungcheol panting along with Jihoon, Jeonghan, and Minghao right behind him. There’s no time for a grand entrance though, and that split second is enough opening for Seungcheol and Jeonghan to pounce on the incubus behind you, making you fall on your knees from the sudden force.
You can hear the incubus growls from behind, but you look up to see Sol grinning despite Jihoon handling him down, and your eyes widen in horror when you realize why he’s grinning. Minghao’s holding Wonwoo in panic, and you don’t even have it in you to scream, your feet moving on their own because there’s blood slipping down his neck.
You take him away from Minghao, and you hear Wonwoo moans weakly when you quickly use your magic to at least stop the bleeding. Your eyes are red with angry tears; angry that Wonwoo’s hurt for no reason at all, that he has to endure this because the incubus wants you, that humans in this area turn into victims for nothing but entertainment.
It’s Wonwoo’s weak grasp on your wrist that snaps you out of it, and he’s saying something stupid like he’s fine and that you should focus on defeating that thing instead of healing him. You’d argue with him if not for the severity of the situation, and you’re honestly just trying your best to stop his wound from opening up before you get back to attack; Seungcheol and Jeonghan has got the situation for now, you can tell from the way the incubus is struggling against them.
Sol is slumped on the floor, because Jihoon is smart enough to take the silver knife from him and stabs the monster with it because the matter is just as lethal to wraith as it is to werewolf. A group of wraiths enter the room not long after, having been summoned by the incubus and unhappy to see their kin knocked out on the ground.
The incubus grins maniacally when the three werewolves upon him loosen their grip at the commotion. But Seungcheol is stronger than that, and even if he orders the other two to leave the incubus to him as they help Minghao take care of the wraiths, it’s easy to tell Seungcheol is starting to get tired.
They roll on the floor, fighting each other physically, trying to assert dominance over the other and your hands get frantic with Wonwoo on your lap.
“Moon–stop,” Wonwoo whispers weakly. “Seungcheol needs help. I’m good enough for now.”
The wound won’t close and his consciousness is escaping yet again, and you’re about to refuse but a hoard of hellhounds come in and you’ve got no choice but to stop trying to stop his bleeding. It has slowed down at least, and you take comfort in that until Wonwoo actually goes slack on your lap, his neck gushing with blood that you’re sure would leave a scar. His healing ability can’t catch up with the silver and this is already the most you can do in such a tight time.
Despite the rowdy situation in the room, your sob sounds way too clear in everyone’s ears, alerting them all in panic. It’s not sad though; and when they turn to see you, you’re already standing up with tears running down your face. But you don’t try to wipe them, simply let them be as your eyes glow the most golden with a speck of red, the first time Seungcheol has ever feltyour wolf and magic this strong.
Momentarily, everything stops and they’re all staring at you; overwhelmed by the sheer power you’re emitting. Even the hellhounds whimper at this, some of them retreating through the shadows.
Your eyes are locked on the incubus beneath Seungcheol, and it’s pure rage that he registers in your eyes–your aura. He’s sure he’s not imagining the way you seem to almost glow with power, the feeling so immense that his wolf almost wants to submit to you.
For whatever reason, the devil has it in him to smirk, whispering something about how good you’d taste once he has you under him. Seungcheol’s about to attack him for the comment, but he’s suddenly twisting in pain that Seungcheol lets go of him, skin burning hot like he’s boiling inside out.
He’s looking at the scene in front of him in horror, and it’s when he looks at the way you’re snapping your wrist that it’s you doing this. He doesn’t know how you learn to do this, because, as far as he knows, you never did. It’s your rage running over your magic, he concludes, and he sees Wonwoo fainted on the ground and he can’t blame you for reacting this way even if it worries him.
He knows the both of you haven’t addressed it, but it’s clear that your wolves are calling for each other and you’re practically mates even if Wonwoo hasn’t marked you yet. He’d probably go ballistic too if his mate was put on the brink of death for whatever reason.
The incubus is screaming in pain, body twisting in a weird way and it’s seconds after that Seungcheol is one hundred percent positive you’re actually glowing that the whole group of monsters within the room–maybe even building–are starting to run away even though they all failed because you’ve warded the whole building so none of them could get out unscathed.
It gets easier to fight them at this point, but your pack doesn’t need to fight them because, the next thing they know, the wraiths have all dissolved into a puddle of black goos, the hellhounds have all retreated, and the incubus is fighting for his life while you watch him suffer on your feet.
Minghao is the first person to snap out of it, immediately going to Wonwoo and trying to somehow check the older guy. He knows he’s not dead, but he’s getting paler by the seconds and he needs to be treated as soon as possible.
The rest look at each other uneasily, unsure how to handle you going berserk. The incubus deserves this, but with the way you’re going, Seungcheol is mainly afraid you’d lose yourself somehow.
“Moon?” he whispers softly, trying to see if you’ll react.
You don’t, which doesn’t surprise any of them, because you’re probably in a trance and the only thing they can hear is the incubus’ painful scream that’s getting louder by the seconds.
You stare blankly at the devil under you, nothing of remorse within you even though you know you’d never do this to any other being. You don’t even know how you’re doing this, but it doesn’t matter because what matters is what he’s done to Wonwoo and you’re going to make him feel the suffering a hundred times over.
It’s then that the scream suddenly stops, because Wonwoo’s weak voice calling your name echoes through the room, his consciousness slipping back in somehow and you turn to him, your magic calming down at the sound of his voice.
And then there’s a surge of magic resonating throughout the building, strong enough that there’s a gush of wind accompanying it as it goes past all of you.
Next thing you know, your body sways to the side and Jeonghan catches you in his arms.
And then it’s all black.
[𓇬𓇬𓇬]
Your whole body is sore when you come to, and the first thing you notice is that there’s hair near your hand and someone else is caressing your other arm.
It takes quite the effort to even open your eyes, and through your blurry eyes, you register that it’s Jisoo laying on the side of your bed and the girl jumps awake at your soft whimper. The other person in the room is Minghao, and you can’t help but chuckle at how awfully familiar this scenario plays out.
Jisoo cries and hugs you before you can say anything, and you see Minghao sighs in relief before he leaves the room to call for the others. Wonwoo steps in right after Minghao leaves, and you try to sit up with Jisoo in your arms, wincing slightly at how tense your body feels. How long were you out for?
“Good sleep?” Wonwoo muses with a small smile, going to your other side to drop a kiss on top of your head because Jisoo refuses to stop hogging you.
“Like I came back from the dead.” You wince at your strained voice, and Wonwoo tells Jisoo to let you go to give you space before he helps you with a glass of water, the girl simply moving to hug your middle instead, her face buried in your lap. You laugh at her antics, stroking her hair and assuring her you’re fine now.
The whole pack bursts into the room at that moment, and they all engulf you in a hug except for Jihoon who goes to stand beside Wonwoo and watches the scene unfold. Everyone’s been worried though they all know you’ll wake up; and to know that you seem relaxed and even have it in you to smile after the whole ordeal is good enough.
“How are you feeling?” Seungcheol asks, sitting next to you on the bed once everyone except Jisoo lets you go, the girl still stubbornly hugging you even though it must’ve been uncomfortable.
“My whole body’s sore and I’m a little disoriented,” you shrug, honest with your explanation. “How long was I out for?”
“Three days,” your alpha informs you, his hand stroking your hair. “We planned on calling Lisa tomorrow if you still didn’t wake up today.”
“Good call. Lisa would know what to do,” you chuckle hoarsely, making a mental note to hang out with the witch one of these days. “Sorry to make you worried. Did anything… happen?”
The room falls silent at that, even Jisoo’s arms that are holding you tighten at your question. But it’s Wonwoo who speaks up, telling you it’s a long story and that you should eat and wash up before going into that.
“That’s a good idea.” Jihoon nods, and then offers to get the bath ready before telling Minghao and Jisoo to prepare food now that you’re awake. The rest seems to get the message and eventually steps out of the room, leaving you and Wonwoo behind.
“Hi.” You say when he doesn’t say anything. Wonwoo shakes his head and envelopes you in a hug which you accept with all your heart, your fingers grasping the front of his shirt while you bury yourself in his neck. His hug is a little too tight, but you don’t care and you actually welcome it because if there’s anything you need at this second, it’s his arms around you and your bodies against each other.
He whispers something in your ear that you don’t quite register, but you’re crying for some reason and Wonwoo pulls you even closer like it’s possible.
It didn’t register to you at first–what had happened and how you ended up like this. But now that everyone’s left and you don’t have to worry about their wellbeing, the memory of that night returns though there are blank spaces in between.
Still, it is enough to remind you of the way the demon touches you–the way his lips graze your skin and his fingers on your body. You choke at the memory, and Wonwoo seems to get it even though you don’t elaborate; seems to understand why you’re crying and why you’re holding on to him for dear life.
The guys have told him about it; about how you coped before and how it took you quite some time to get over it. And as much as he thought he’s prepared to help you through it, it’s still a blow to his heart to see you like this, his wolf wailing in pain in tandem with yours.
You don’t notice Jihoon by the door, about to tell you the bath is ready but has enough sense to step back when he catches Wonwoo’s eyes.
Wonwoo lets you cry more, and then kisses your forehead once you’ve calmed down, his thumb wiping the tears on your face as his forehead meets yours; his lips centimeters away from your own.
“I know, love. I know,” he whispers as your sobs turn into whimpers. “Let’s get you cleaned up? I’ll come with you.”
In any other scenario, you’d tease him about wanting to see you naked. Maybe flirt a little and then curse at him for making you flustered somehow. But this isn’t your ideal world, and you can do nothing but nod as he takes your hand and leads you to the bathroom.
Wonwoo stays true to his words, and you want to cry at the delicate way he’s treating you. He helps you out of your clothes, and it’s weird that you don’t feel anything as he does so–not the least bit of embarrassment even though he has never seen you naked at all.
He did ask if you want him to move away though, but when you shake your head and say that you don’t mind, he helps you wash up like you’re a kid who doesn’t know how to do it yourself. It’s very intimate in ways that you can’t quite describe, and you let him do everything for you as you simply stay seated in the bathtub.
You hug your knees as Wonwoo moves to wash your back, and it’s quite obvious that his clothes are all wet though he doesn’t say anything about it. He doesn’t say anything at all, actually, because he knows that you need solace and you want his company though you don’t wish to talk.
“Let’s get out of the tub?” he tells you softly after he’s done with your body. He grasps your hand and wraps you in a big towel, then tells you to sit down on the edge of the tub.
“Look at me?” He stares into your eyes for a few seconds before telling you to close them again so he can wash your face. His touch is gentle–safe, and you can feel your magic hum in content at the way he’s touching you.
It’s probably asking for more.
You slowly open your eyes when you feel Wonwoo stills but doesn’t move away, finding his face right in front of yours though you don’t flinch at the proximity. You look into his eyes, wondering what goes inside his mind as he looks at you. Was he thinking about that night, too?
Your eyes wander to scar on the side of his neck, and the picture that your picture conjures of Wonwoo unconscious on the floor is way too real that your eyes water almost immediately. He seems to get what you’re thinking about, and before you can remember it further, Wonwoo cups your face and forces your eyes to meet his instead.
“Hey, I’m fine,” his voice echoes in the bathroom. “I’m here and I’m safe. All thanks to you.”
That doesn’t work like it’s supposed to, because you cry even more at his words for some reason and Wonwoo tries not to panic when your cry gets louder.
“I’m sorry,” you break into a sob, hugging the towel further into yourself. Wonwoo gently grabs your arms to help you stand up then brings you into his arms. You’re shaking your head, murmuring further about how you’re sorry for making him go through it though you don’t make any move to get away from him. “It’s–it’s all because of me and you–”
Your words die down when his mouth finds yours, because Wonwoo doesn’t want to hear it and, most importantly, he doesn’t want you to blame yourself for whatever the demon did. He pulls away when he feels you relax, and your eyes are a little hazy like you’re in a trance (which he’s sure he must be sprouting the same look, too), making him chuckle before he drops another chaste kiss on the side of your mouth.
“Don’t apologize,” his stern voice whispers against your ear. “You did nothing wrong, get it?”
It pains him that you don’t seem to believe his words, but he’ll remind you over and over again if that’s what he needs to do.
“Moon, you’re my mate.” Your eyes snap to him in surprise at his statement; feeling the bound is one thing, but hearing Wonwoo vocalizing it out loud is another and you’re pretty sure the whole house can hear your heart beating wildly against your chest. But Wonwoo doesn’t seem to care, and he keeps on talking as he cups your face. “They probably took me because of that, they knew you'd come if it was me in danger. I’d do it too if it was the other way around. All of that? None of it is your fault. We were caught in a situation and things happened. It’s out of our control.”
“But, still…”
“No,” he shakes his head, his smile patient and understanding. “I’m not the only one who got hurt. You did too. Do you want me to apologize for not being able to protect you?”
“No!” you raise your voice before you even realize, getting his point immediately. “But it’s different. He–they…”
He places his finger on your lips, stopping you from talking further. He doesn’t want to hear this–not when you’ve just woken up, not ever. That seems to do it for now, and he silently helps you with your clothes so you’d get out of the bathroom and eat something.
The meal is finished in the blink of an eye, and after more coddling from the pack, you find yourself back in your room by yourself, staring into nothing and thinking about what they’ve just told you about that night prior to you blacking out.
You don’t actually remember much after Wonwoo passed out, and even though it isn’t a story best fitting to be told while you’re having dinner, you insist because you can’t help but feel like there’s something missing in the back of your mind. And, true enough, they said you went berserk.
Not that you’re surprised.
You’ve called Lisa earlier to have a talk with her mom, one of the most knowledgeable mages you’ve known after your aunt. She’s said something about your wolves already bonding with each other even though you’re not marked yet, and it’s not impossible that your wolf was just running on instinct the moment it felt its mate in grave danger.
The combined power of the wolf within you and the magic running through your blood intensified because Wonwoo was basically dying.
“Moon, may I come in?” Wonwoo asks from the other side of the door, and you answer by opening the door slightly with a flick of your wrist. “Am I disturbing you?”
“Nope,” you shake your head, signalling Wonwoo to lay down next to you. “Was just thinking over some stuff.”
Wonwoo doesn’t even need to ask to know what you’re thinking about, settling under your blanket and laying on his side to face you, his eyes scouting your face.
He was pretty shocked too when he found out you went berserk after he lost his consciousness; he’s always known you’re powerful–but to the point where you’re somehow able to turn a hoard of wraiths without doing anything? To return hellhounds to their shadows? To boil the incubus’ blood from the inside without straining any extra effort?
Seungcheol has told him he was worried you’d lose yourself for a moment there. But you passed out after that sudden wave of magic and Wonwoo figures that means your magic took control of your body if only for a brief period of time.
“How are you feeling?”
“Weird,” you shrug, and then hesitate for a bit before you relay to him the information you got from Lisa’s mom. He doesn’t reply immediately, mind still busy taking in what you’ve just told him as his fingers absentmindedly play with yours. It’s both flattering and frightening to know your bond is already that strong even if he hasn’t marked you yet. But knowing what presumably is your full power got unleashed because he was hurt…
He sees your eyes drop to the side of his neck again, and he lets your finger trace the scar in the most delicate way possible–as if afraid he’ll bleed again if you press too hard. Despite the severity of its wound when it happened, his scar has actually healed though the mark is still there.
“Moon… It’s fine. I’m here with you now and that’s what matters,” he reminds you with a whisper, his hand grasping your wrist to place a kiss there. “It’s just a scar.”
“I… can still feel him if I close my eyes, you know?” you bite your lip as you admit this, not wanting to see Wonwoo’s angry eyes. “It’s always like that after an encounter with an incubus. Usually I’d even flinch when people tried to touch me, but I suppose it’s better now because you’re here? But if I close my eyes it’s like…”
You shiver at the thought, and it feels like something is crawling under your skin as you remember how the incubus held you that night. Wonwoo places his palms on your neck, compelling you to look at him.
“You’re here with me, okay? Remember that. You’re with me and he can’t touch you now.” Wonwoo’s voice is gentle but firm, you decide, and you find yourself nodding even though the fear is still there in the back of your mind. That’s the least you can do, you think to yourself. Pretend like it doesn’t affect you until it really doesn’t.
You don’t have it in you to cry anymore, but you’re being real when you said you can still feel his touch against your skin, and when Wonwoo’s thumb forces your lip down from the confinement of your teeth because you don’t realize you’ve been biting it, it’s then that you taste the blood on your tongue.
“Don’t do that.” He brushes his thumb against your bottom lip, his eyes can’t seem to look away from it. “You want to talk about it?”
Exhaling a deep breath, you shake your head and bury yourself into his neck instead, your lips grazing the scar there and Wonwoo has to hold back a sigh from the sensation. He wraps his arm around you instead, pulling your body closer to his so you’re pressed against each other.
He can feel you stiffen when his fingers come in contact with the skin under your shirt, though you relax immediately and cuddle yourself further into his hold. The both of you stay that way for a moment, basking in the other’s presence without saying anything as moonlight faintly shines through your window.
Wonwoo traces a circle on your skin, and your magic once again hums in content at the feeling of it. And while his finger is making circles there, yours once again finds the fading mark of his scar that you know would forever be etched on his skin.
Your eyes find his lips, and it seems that the world stops for a moment because Wonwoo does the same, then your eyes meet his in the exact same second.
“Kiss me?” you breathe in a soft whisper, which only amplifies the effect it has on him–like your words alone don’t make his head go haywire enough. “Make me forget and–”
His kiss is soft despite the rush he’s feeling in his body. And he kisses you like it’s the only thing he wants to do–and maybe it is–and you actually have to gasp for air when it gets too much because you’re starting to get light headed from the whole thing.
You stiffen when his lips find your neck, but he reminds you again and again that it’s him, whispers over your skin to tell him to stop if it gets too much. But you find yourself making ways for his lips to wander further, your fingers already combing through his hair and pushing him deeper into you.
And it seems like your body understands that this man is worshipping you, reacting to Wonwoo in ways that you’ve never experienced before. He doesn’t forget to ask if you’re okay from time to time, doesn’t think at all about his own pleasure even though his wolf is already screaming to mark you already.
His lips find yours again, and, before you know it, Wonwoo’s hovering over you, his fingers intertwined with yours. The kiss is slower this time, and you’re pretty sure a little more and you’d be able to map the shape of his lips.
Wonwoo pulls away to take a breath, but you can’t get enough of him so your lips chase his and he grunts from the sudden force when you pull him down right on top of you. It’s safe for him to assume your wolf is dying to be marked as much as his is begging for the same thing.
“You sure you want to do this?” Wonwoo pants, his eyes piercing into yours from above.
The smile you give him is enough to make all the stars in the sky seem faint, and there’s a sudden wave of fulfillment that rushes through him at the sight of it; like he’s found his other half.
Like a puzzle with the last missing piece.
“As long as it’s with you.”
He wonders why the moon seems brighter tonight.

The rain fell hard on the city of Pairs. The sidewalks darkened as the sky cried over it, washing away all the pain of yesterday or letting the tears of heart broken girl camouflage with the drops.
She knew she should be sitting inside, warm and toasty in her bed while her parents were in a neighboring city on a job for a big wedding. Yet she sat on her balcony, sitting under the awning just enough so the water wouldn’t dampen her clothes. Her mind screamed at her, telling her to get inside before she caught a cold, but her skin grew used to cold, silencing her inner thoughts. Like an act of self punishment.
The only warmth was the cup of green tea resting between her palms, the steam airing her face as the sniffles came out in intervals. Her eyes pleaded to the sky, the sun barely peeking out from the indigo sky, dawn was about to greet her, but she didn’t notice. The dark clouds covered the sky as the rain grew with strength.
“Marinette” The kwamii pleaded from the open door. “Please come in, you’ll get sick.” A hum was the response Tikki was given, her heart bled for the holder, knowing that time would heal her wounded heart and she needed to accept her feat on her own.
Minutes passed and the tea turned cold and left a dissatisfied taste on her tongue. Her tears had seized and the puddle below was mixed with her own sorrow.
“M’Lady?” The familiar voice broke her out of her daze and she looked up, meeting with the green opals that were Chat’s eyes. He noticed the stain of red on her face, the rain triggering a cough from her and he came closer, his leather suit soaking up the leftover drops from the sky’s shower. “What are you doing out here?” He knew the answer, of course he did. The limp in his right leg didn’t go unnoticed by her, like a turtle, she retreated.
Her eyes fell back to the tea, it seemed fuller than before, her tears had returned and begun to fill it. “Forgive me please.” Her voice was just above a whisper, the wind around them was louder and his heart ached at her tone.
“M’Lady-” But she cut him off. Her hands shook and the tea splashed over the rim. Her body trembled from the nightmare that had played over and over for the past days.
“I couldn’t help you. I-I tried my best Chat, you have to believe me…but you got hurt..because of me.” Her voice wasn’t to be trusted, it began to crumble with each passing word. “I haven’t been able to sleep..my fault…my fault.”
“Marinette.” His tone was firm and he sat himself in front of her. Her eyes refused to meet his as he took the cup out of her hands and placed his in her palms. Gently he tilted her chin up, the blue sapphires he loved held so much pain and were corrupted my tears. He rested his forehead against her, and he could see the raindrops dancing on her eyelashes.
“It wasn’t your fault. I won’t forgive you for something you didn’t do. Sure my leg took a hit, but if you didn’t get there when you did, it would have been much worse. Come on, the sky has seen you cry for too long.” He kissed her forehead and pick her up, holding her shivering body close as he went inside.
She was silent as she got into bed after changing from her slightly damp clothes. He had made her new tea and Tikki brought some medicine for her cough.
He de-transformed as he sat on her bed, running his finger through her dark hair, telling her everything was fine. He could feel her holding back so he took her hand once again.
“You know you could never hurt me.” He said.
“But-”
“No. Marinette, I trust you with my life. Now I don’t want to see anymore tears fall okay?” He kissed her hand and she sat up and hugged him.
“I trust you too Kitty.” She whispered into his chest.
The sun rose in the distance, its golden rays peeking through her window as they sat holding each other as dawn came upon them.

I hope you enjoyed!!

Of course it’s raining.
You grit your teeth, your grip on your coat desperate as you hold it over your head like a makeshift umbrella, hurrying across the street. It’s useless, however, since the raindrops still manage to permeate the thick cloth and drip onto your face, roll off your eyelashes, slip into the corners of your mouth like cold tears. The puddles of water pooling in the street splash whenever you accidentally step into them, wetting your exposed ankles and sending shivers up your curved spine, with no regard for your wellbeing whatsoever.

Tumblr media
pairing ➳ businessman!mingyu x female!reader
genre ➳ strangers to lovers, romance, slice of life, angst, fluff, gets spicy at the end
word count ➳ 5.6k (apx)
warnings ➳ cursing, reader is really indecisive, heavy makeout, implications of sexual activity.
synopsis ➳ an attractive stranger visits your cabin for a week with whom you quickly bond, developing some strong feelings in the process; leaving you to wonder if he's worth leaving everything behind.
A/N: henlooo~ I finally posted! This has been sitting in my drafts for a while but I didn't really feel like writing for a while, hence the delay. I hope y'all enjoy this piece and please don't forget to leave some feedback! It really motivates me :)
Tumblr media
A cool gust of wind blew by as you finished typing your last column, leaving a soothing feeling behind as you exhaled loudly. It was hard to finish this piece of writing for some reason, maybe because you lacked inspiration or maybe because your life had been monotonous for a while or simply, a mix of both. Closing your laptop you stretch your hands and legs, feeling somewhat productive. Humming a tune, you looked out the window to see a Lamborghini come to a halt at the entrance.
It piqued your interest because it's not often that people riding Lamborghini come in this cabin so genuinely you're interested in the visitor. You shifted in your chair, waiting for the man to come upstairs to the reception and sure enough a tall- really tall man dressed in a neatly pressed suit appears into your view, briskly walking towards the reception where Chan stood to greet him. You could not get a good look at his face as he moved around quickly, grabbing his small carry on and heading towards his cabin after the formalities.
You watched his tall frame walking away as you got up from your seat and moved towards Chan.
"Who is he?"
"Kim Mingyu," Chan explained, resting his arms on the reception table." A millionaire, owns a lot of companies. No wonder he looked familiar."
"Oh, really? How long is he staying?"
"He has booked for five days. Said he might extend his stay."
"I see."
"Why are you so curious though?" Chan raised a brow at you, tilting his head to a side.
"Nothing." You shrugged. "He just has different vibes than the other people that come here you know?"
Chan hummed in agreement.
-
There was never much visitors during the rainy season which was both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because that meant the cabin was less hectic and curse because sometimes you are bound to get a bit too bored. You were helping yourself with a cup of tea to somewhat feel re-energised when your newest and the only guest for the week appeared from his cabin, padding through the corridor and stepping into the common kitchen area. You were taken aback for a moment before you composed yourself and smiled at your guest, "Good morning, Mr. Kim. May I help you with anything?"
"Mingyu, please," the tall male replied while scanning the kitchen area. "You're the owner right? What's the food arrangement here?"
"Well, our guests generally cook for themselves or order takeout. When there are many guests I sometimes do the cooking."
Nodding, he hummed before putting in a capsule in the cappuccino machine. You took a seat by the window, tea in your hand as you watched the male move around like he knew this place. Dressed in his pajamas and judging by the fluffy mess that his hair was you assumed he had a good night's sleep.
"I hope you had a pleasant night, Mr- Mingyu." You said to your guest who had whipped out a pan from the cupboard and was making omelette. "Yes, surprisingly so. Normally I have trouble falling asleep but I slept like a baby last night," he casually conversed as he prepared his breakfast.
You smiled, "Well, I'm glad to know that. If you need anything let my staffs or me know."
"Sure. Oh- I didn't get your name though." Mingyu turned to meet your eyes.
"___," you smiled.
"___, okay."
-
"This is gonna be a rainy week," Hoshi said from behind you as he stood holding a tub of fresh soil for the plants in the backyard of the cabin. You sat on your knees, eyeing the plants which needed their soil changed.
"Yeah? Well, good thing there isn't much guests now."
"I think there should be, I mean it's so pretty here during the rain too. People need to look at it themselves." Hoshi complained.
"Well, most people don't like going out in the rain. Pass me the soil, Hoshi. Let's get this finished before the shower starts."
Hoshi handed you the tub of soil as the sky above started growling, full of thick black clouds. It was gonna start raining soon.
Hoshi spoke, "Oh, Mr.Kim, Mingyu you know, asked me about the beach by the marketplace. Apparently he wants to visit so he asked me if I was free to show him around."
"And let me guess, you aren't?" You rolled your eyes.
Soonyoung pouted, "No! Well I would have given him a tour today if the weather wasn't so bad. And my friends are coming tomorrow, so I'll be busy then."
"Wait- you're friends are coming?" You turned, glaring at the boy who smiles sheepishly, "Oh! Um- I didn't tell you? Well they're only staying for a couple of days and it's not like they're staying for free."
"Well, make sure they clean after themselves okay? If I see them trashing all over the place like last time, I'm kicking you out with them." You gave him a pointed look.
"Okay okay," Hoshi rolled his eyes, puffing his cheeks. "Just- take the CEO out on a tour tomorrow for me okay? I haven't seen my friends in a long time."
"Alright, I will...if the weather is good which probably won't be." You sighed, gently removing the old soil.
Hoshi mused about Mingyu, "Bummer for him, he came in a wrong time. It's weird, no? We don't have such guests like him."
"Yeah," you hummed, focused on handling your roses.
-
Hoshi's friend, Seokmin and Seungkwan appeared early in the morning next day as you watched Hoshi vibrate from happiness when he hugged them. You smiled to yourself, laughing at at the antics of your staff as you saw him guide his friends into their cabin. The day was once again filled with dark clouds and raining which occurred every other hour. You and Chan cleaned up and completed some chores as the noon fell.
"Should I cook something up for them?" You wondered as Chan finished cleaning the common space of the first cabin.
"Nah, Seokmin hyung is cooking for them. He's a pretty good cook actually."
"Really? That's nice." You said pulling up a chair to sit down. "Are you gonna join them? Hoshi has been with his friends since they came."
"Yeah, probably. You should join us too."
"No, I think I'm gonna take a nap. I feel so tired."
"Alright."
You watched as Chan climbed down the stairs and stepped towards the second cabin where everyone else was. You were about to head to your room when the CEO, Mingyu appeared in the kitchen.
"Oh, hello."
"Hi."
"I haven't seen you since morning," you said watching as Mingyu poured himself a glass of water.
"Yeah, I woke up early today, went for a jog."
"Ah, I see."
"Couldn't go far though, the weather sucks you know." He said leaning against the kitchen top.
"Yeah. But I heard that it should get better from tomorrow. I could show you around if you want to. Hoshi, my staff, is going to busy for a while so I can guide you around."
"Really? That would be cool." Mingyu smiled. There was a small stretch of silence as you both listened to the rainfall before he spoke, "Have you had lunch?"
"Uh-no."
"Would you like to join me?" He asked "This is the longest time I've been alone and it feels a bit weird," he murmured more to himself than you.
"I mean- I don't mind," you shrugged. "Though I should be the one doing it."
"It's okay. People say I am a good cook," Mingyu smiled, his eyes crinkling.
"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see."
-
It was weird how comfortable you felt watching Mingyu being clumsy and bump into things as he prepared your meal. It felt like you've been doing this forever- like you've known him forever and you thought to yourself what was suddenly wrong with you. He made small talk as he cooked and it felt easy talking with him- almost impossible to believe that he was stranger. He was friendly and easy to get along with, definitely not a cold and grumpy businessman like you imagined him to be.
Mingyu grinned as he set down the food in front of you- chicken soup, rice and cheese omelette. His eyes twinkled excitedly as he watched you take a bite, waiting for you to say something.
"What are you? A part time chef or something?" You tried not to moan as you chewed because it was that good. Mingyu laughed- a sweet, shy laugh that had his canines showing and his eyes forming crescents. "Thank you. I learned from my mom. I like cooking for myself when I get the time which is not often," he smiled- almost sadly.
"Well, you can cook for me all you want as long as you're here because this is amazing!" You grinned at him, cheeks puffed with food.
Mingyu chuckled softly as he dug in and you both started eating. It felt nice, to talk to someone new and spend time with them, someone other than Chan or Hoshi. It was a nice change- a change you probably needed for a while.
"So...What brings you here?" You asked as you finished your food, setting down the spoon and leaning back into the chair. Mingyu who was still eating, looked at you with a perplexed expression so you spoke, "I mean...we don't generally have guests like you. And it's not even a good time to visit...so I was wondering what brought you here?"
"Guests like me? What does that mean?"
"I mean...rich, okay?" You fumbled, feeling awkward. Maybe you shouldn't have asked. "Like...there are fancier places to visit, you know..."
Mingyu smiled at your words for a moment before he deadpanned, "I'm running away."
"Running away?" You gasped, almost jumping from your seat, "From who? The cops?"
"It would have been better but no, my family," he said, his voice as serious as ever.
"Oh...I see," you fell quiet. It definitely wasn't the answer you expected. You both remained silent for a while as he started out the window, lost in thoughts. "It must have been really bad if you're hiding out here." You spoke softly.
"It has always been," he mumbled. "I just couldn't take it anymore, you know? I desperately needed a break," he spoke more to himself than you. Instead of prodding further, you sat quietly, watching him and listening to his words. Seeing him now, he definitely looks troubled and you didn't exactly have the words to console him.
So you whispered, "Well, I hope it gets better."
-
Later that night, you find Hoshi and his friends and Chan preparing for a bonfire in the front yard of the cabin.
"Wow, you all are really having fun, no?" You said as you fisted your hands in your pockets from the chilly weather. The air was colder than other nights and everyone including you had put on some warm clothes.
"You wanna join us?" Seokmin asked as he stacked logs on top of each other.
"Nah, it's fine. You four carry on," you patted his back as you started walking back towards the cabin and saw Chan and Hoshi coming out with some boxes in their hands.
"Hey! There are marshmallows in the kitchen cabinet if you want.... nevermind," you finished as you saw beer cans and soju bottles in their hands.
"We're gonna get drunk baby!" Soonyoung yelled, grinning like a fool.
"Hyung, you look drunk already," Chan gave him a side look as they trudged towards the bonfire.
Laughing at their antics you climbed the stairs to the kitchen, preparing some hot chocolate for yourself. Holding the mug on one hand you knocked on the door to Mingyu's room, checking up on him since you haven't seen him since lunch.
The door opened revealing Mingyu in a baggy shirt and pajamas, his hair fluffy and messy.
"Hey," you chriped. "Wanted to check up on you. You wanna join the others in the bonfire?"
"Nah, I'm good. I've been watching them from the balcony." He smiled, his pointy canines showing.
"Oh, I see."
"You wanna come in? I've been getting lonely." He offered, moving away from the door to make space for you.
"Uh- I don't mind," you murmured, surprised that he asked you to come in. You tentatively stepped in and it was fair to say that you were surprised to see the room neat and pristine as most guests kept their room messy.
He ushered you into the balcony, which had a great view of your yard and the forest behind. You saw others laughing loudly as Soonyoung acted something out. Mingyu's voice pulled you out of your thoughts.
"You didn't join them?"
"Nah, they can get too loud sometimes," you chuckled, taking a seat on the bench. You eyed an empty mug lying by, guessing that Mingyu already had his fill of hot chocolate.
Mingyu took a seat beside you, stretching his legs and sighing as he mused, "The view is great."
You hummed your agreement. It was indeed. Not only did you have the full view of your yard and the forest, but you could see a vast horizon of the night sky, some stars twinkling through the clouds.
"It's even more beautiful during summer. You can see so many stars that it feels unreal." You told him.
"Then I will try to visit again during summer," he smiled and you were not sure if he was serious or joking. However you replied with a smile, "You're always welcome."
A silence falls among you two after that but it's not uncomfortable, as you both watched the night grow and Soonyoung and his friends got louder.
"Things got really hard for me, you know," Mingyu started speaking, his voice soft as he stared at the mesh of trees ahead. You were somewhat surprised at his words, but you didn't interrupt, opting for him to continue.
"Running a million dollar company was never easy but...it suddenly was unbearable. My parents always interfered in my work and how I run the company but I managed through all of that, really...until..." Mingyu heaved a long sigh, abruptly stopping.
"Until?" You tentatively asked, peeking at him.
"They want me to get married. With the daughter of their business partner. A marriage of convenience, really."
Oh.
You fell silent, watching him as the moonlight dimly lit the side of his face. There wasn't enough light to see his face completely, but enough to see the curve of his face, his sharp jawline and the sad, lost look in his eyes. Your heart suddenly ached for him. Silently you patted his shoulder, conjuring up some words to console him.
"That's ...awful, really. I'm sorry."
"I've never been so mad in my whole life. Can't they just leave me alone? They treat me like a puppet, like my only job is to live for them. I'm so done. " He said, his hands forming fists.
There's a beat of silence as you quietly patted his back and watched your friends get wasted by the bonfire before he chuckled softly, "I'm sorry for dumping all these on you. I just couldn't hold them in you know-"
"It's really fine, Mingyu. I don't mind. It would be nice if I could actually help you," you sighed, retracting your hand.
"Trust me, you are," he said and you caught a smile on his face.
"I suppose you don't have a significant other? Someone you could talk to freely?"
He shook his head. "That is why I came here. Needed to get my thoughts together, away from them. Not to mention I don't remember the last time I went on a vacation."
"And have you got your thoughts together?"
"I think so, yeah." He shrugged.
"What are you gonna do?" You asked tilting your head.
"Stand strong in my ground, I guess. There's no way I'm marrying their business partner, I'd rather die. And if all else fails, I'm staying here. I'm sure you have some type of job for me, right?"
You laughed at his words, "Maybe. But I'm not sure about your skills, Mr. Kim."
"Oh I'm a fast learner, Miss ___."
You both grinned at each other.
That night when you went back to your room, your thoughts were plagued by Mingyu and you could swear you saw him in your dreams too.
-
The next morning is brighter and shinier; the sky relatively clear other than some light clouds. After getting dressed and checking up on Hoshi and Chan who were still sleeping, you trudged through the cabin and towards Mingyu's room, before knocking on it. A fully dressed Mingyu appeared, clad in a white polo and jeans, his hair styled messily. He looked effortlessly attractive, making your heart skipp a few beats.
Damn it, what was wrong with you?
"Hi," you almost missed a breath, your face flushed with warmth.
"Oh, hey. I was about to come to you. I believe you were to show me around." Mingyu grinned, his pointy canines showing.
"And that is what I'm here for, Mr. Kim."
"Great! Let's get going. We'll take my car."

After showing Mingyu around for a couple of hours, you both ended up at the beach by the marketplace, sitting on the sand next to each other. The weather was nice; not too hot, not too cold as a light breeze flew by occasionally. Though you could see some black clouds gathering above, it wasn't to rain until evening if the forecast was correct.
"This place is so pretty," Mingyu mused, making you smile.
"I know right. The weather is great too."
You both watched the waves crash to the shore, occasionally wetting your feet as you both relaxed on the sand. There was a silence, a comfortable one as you finished eating the corndog you bought from the market earlier with some groceries. As you finished the last bite, Mingyu turned to face you and asked, "Tell me about yourself."
"What?" A squeak of surprise escaped from you.
"I shared a lot about myself last night. It's only fair I get to know about you too."
"Well..." You pondered. "There isn't much to tell. I've a pretty dull life, unlike you."
Mingyu chuckled, shaking his head, "Does the cabin belong to your parents? Is it like a family business type of thing?"
"No, not really," you smiled softly. "My parents are dead. The cabin belonged to my grandfather."
"Oh- I'm sorry."
"No it's okay. They passed away in an accident when I was a kid so I don't remember them much." You spoke, watching the sea, "My grandparents raised me. Growing up I've spent a lot of time in the cabin and when my grandfather retired he handed the job to me."
"Are they alive? Your grandparents?" He asked tentatively.
You shook your head, "Grandpa passed away a couple years ago and it's been a few months since grandma did too."
"I'm sorry, you must've been lonely," Mingyu offered, his voice soft.
You shrugged, "Yeah, like I said, nothing interesting going on in my life."
Mingyu hummed noncommittally and there was a few moments of silence before he spoke again, "Was managing the cabin something you have always wanted to do?"
You were quiet for a while as you thought over the question, "No...not really. I've just kept doing the job I was handed to. I haven't really thought about what I want to do."
"Well...I think you should hire a manager in your place and maybe...I don't come to the city and make friends, see what calls for you."
"Yeah, I've thought about it. But I don't know really." You murmured.
"Well, give it some thought. I could help you find a manager. In fact, I could help promote and upgrade your cabin if you'd let me. It'll be a good investment."
You laughed softly, not taking his words too seriously. He was just a guest. He was probably just being nice.
A gust of strong wind flew by, ruining your hair as it poked into your eyes and you laughed when your eyes landed on Mingyu.
"What?"
His hair was sticking in different directions because of the wind and you shook your head with a smile as you reached to pat the hairs back into place. It happened naturally, before you could stop yourself. For a moment your eyes meet as you quickly retract your hand, face heated.
Something was definitely wrong with you.
Mingyu's gaze stayed at you for a while; you could feel his intense eyes on you and you thought maybe he didn't like you touching him. Before your thoughts ran more rampant, he spoke.
"___?"
"Y-yes?"
"Do you...Do you have a home?"
"Home?" You were confused.
"Yes, home. Not like a real house but like a... person. Someone who makes you feel at ease, someone with whom you can be yourself without judgements, someone who keeps you cozy and safe and loved...like a home."
Somewhat taken aback by his words, you fell silent but their depth hit you and you found yourself thinking about it. Do you have a home?
No. No, you don't.
You shook your head, murmuring, "No."
Mingyu nodded taking his eyes off you.
"What about you?" You asked.
"Me neither."
You smiled, "Figures. Because if you had someone you wouldn't have run here but went to them."
Mingyu smiled, a sad smile gracing his lips. It was a somewhat bitter truth, he hadn't found his home no matter how much he looked for it. Maybe that's what he was doing wrong, looking desperately.
"Let's get going. It has started to rain," Your voice dragged him out of his thoughts as he felt small drops of water fall on his face. You reached your hand out to him and he took it, standing up. As you both jogged towards Mingyu's car, your hands remained connected, no one bothering to let go.
-
That night you had dinner with Mingyu again but this time it was you who did the cooking. After enjoying dinner over small talk, Mingyu like the gentleman he is did the dishes as you poured some wine for the two of you.
Sitting on the small table in common space by the window, you both watched the clear sky that had appeared after the shower. You sipped your wine, watching the vast expanse of stars that blinked in the dark sky.
"I think I've to go back tomorrow," Mingyu suddenly whispered, his tone so low you almost thought you misheard him. A bolt out the blue, you looked at him.
"Tomorrow?"
"Mmhmm," he fiddled with the hem of his cardigan as he stared at the table. "I've got so many calls and messages from work. My company won't run on its on, I can be gone for only so long." He sighed.
You didn't offer any words, too shocked to know that he'd be gone tomorrow. What is this attachment you've developed towards him? Why did the thought of someone, almost a stranger going back to where he came from, where he belonged hurt you so much? You didn't know what to label your feelings but realizing that you'd probably never see him again was tugging at your heartstrings.
Should you ask him for his number and stay connected with him? Is there even a point in that? You both live miles away from each other. Or should just take his advice and follow him to the city? Would that even be a good idea? Are you just reading all this wrong?
You were so invested in your thoughts that you didn't realize Mingyu was calling you until he shook your shoulder.
"You okay, ___?"
"Huh? Yeah...it's just, the news is really sudden. I didn't... expect you'd return so soon." You mumbled.
Mingyu sighed, his shoulder dropping a little bit. "Trust me, if I could I'd stay here forever. But...I can't keep running. I need to face my parents, the sooner the better."
At a loss of what to say, you just nodded. Reaching for your drink you took a big gulp, trying to calm your nerves. It's okay, you can do this. He's just another one of your guests.
You stood up, taking the empty glass in your hand, "Well, I better leave you alone now. I'm sure you've got packing to do."
You almost turned away; until a strong hand gripped your wrist and pulled you back, making you stumble towards Mingyu's body.
"Don't. Stay for a while. I don't want you to leave." His voice was soft yet deep and it immediately broke your resolve as you set the glass down and looked into his eyes.
He didn't let go of your wrist; instead only wrapped his other hand around your waist, pulling you closer, leaving just a few inches between your faces. You didn't tell him to move neither did you make any effort to get away from him- you didn't want to. It felt good, comforting as he held you and looked at you almost like you were his whole world. His eyes had so much emotion swirling in them and you were sure yours looked the same too.
"___?" His voice was breathy and it set your heart aflame.
"Y-yes?"
"Can I...kiss you?"
You inhaled sharply as his hold on you got tighter. You couldn't process a reply, overwhelmed with emotion. So you just nodded and Mingyu leaned in, pressing his lips to yours.
It was soft at first, his lips just resting against yours, as if he was testing the waters. When you didn't resist but only pulled him closer, he started devouring you, his tongue prodding in your wet cavern. Moans espaced from you as you kept pulling at his hair almost grinding on him, desperate for more. He was the same, kissing you with so much passion and vigour like you were the last female standing.
You somehow managed to tug off his cardigan between the kiss and when you pulled apart for air, Mingyu panted, "Can we take this to the bedroom?"
His deep raspy voice spread liquid heat throughout your body and you had to stop yourself from pouncing on him.
"Yes please," you breathed. Mingyu stood up straight, his tall and built body intimidating you in the best ways possible, "Oh baby, you don't have to beg. I'll give you anything you want."
Once again your breath was trapped as he picked you up, his hand under your ass to support you. When he dropped you on his bed and took off his tee you realized you were in for a long night. In the back of your mind, you also realized that this would make it even harder to let him go.
-
Next morning you were the first one to wake up as the sun barely seeped through the blinds. If you had to guess it wasn't any more than six am. Mingyu's hand rested on your waist as he remained snuggled against your back. It was so comforting that you almost forgot your reality and went back to sleep, until you remembered what had happened last night. Before you could start overthinking and possibly had a breakdown right there, you ever so carefully removed his hand from your body and scrawled out of the bed, grabbing your shirt and quickly throwing it on. Then you tiptoped out of his room despite the ache between your legs and rushed straight towards yours.
Slamming the door shut, your sat down, head in your hands. You've to now prepare for saying goodbye. Right, you just need to act casual and not let him know that you might have developed feelings for him in the past week.
His words came back to you.
"Do you have a home?"
You didn't have one until now but the realization that you may have found it brought tears to your eyes.
-
You spent the next hours wallowing in your self pity, curled up in your bed too afraid to get out and face Mingyu. Soonyoung dropped by once, knocking at your door and asking if you want breakfast, which you declined. Time slowly ticked away and you watched as the clock struck eleven. You couldn't stay inside forever. You needed to bid Mingyu a goodbye- that is if he hadn't left already. But you were sure he didn't; he wouldn't just leave without any words.
Sighing, you gathered every last bit of your courage and stepped out of your room. Immediately you saw Mingyu coming out from the opposite end of the corridor, the carry-on he brought with him in his hand.
"Hey, where have you been?" He asked, his steps getting quicker to come and stand in front of you.
"Oh- um, I took and shower and then dozed off, sorry," you lied easily, not meeting his eyes.
There was a beat of silence as you both stood in front of each other and when your eyes finally met his, a blush spread across his face like wildfire. The air was heavy with unsaid words and you coughed, trying to get rid of the terrible awkwardness.
"So, you're leaving now?"
What a nice question.
Mingyu seemed to be lost in thoughts as he snapped back to reality and scratched the back of his head, "Oh yeah, right. It'll be a couple hours drive so the earlier I leave the better."
Nodding you motioned your hand towards the exit, "I'll see you out."
Mingyu seemed to have something to say but he pressed his lips in a thin line and started to climb down the stairs, you behind him. Soonyoung, who was standing at the entrance gave you a conspirational wiggle of his brows but said nothing as he watched you follow Mingyu out.
You observed as Mingyu loaded his bag in the trunk, peeking glances at you every other second. When he finished, you spoke, "Well...good luck. I hope you can overcome your problems."
"Thanks. It won't be easy and my dad will probably take away my shares of the company but...I'm done living like this."
You nodded, smiling softly as you crossed your arms against your chest. It suddenly felt cold.
You both gazed at each other, saying nothing even though you've so much to say, as if the silence would carry your unsaid words to him. You were torn- wanting to talk about last night but chickening out knowing it was probably just a fling, a one night stand for him.
"___..." Mingyu spoke but the words died on his tongue. Not trusting yourself to speak, you swallwed the ball of emotions and looked at him with a curious tilt of head.
"...I hope you find what you really want to do. And I hope you find your home too," he said, his words so soft and gentle. For some reason you had a feeling that those were not the words he wanted to say yet you forced a smile and nodded, "You too, Mingyu."
His eyes swirled with so my emotions but you didn't know what he was thinking. He looked pained, just like you but you were too afraid to speak your feelings, scared that you misread him.
When you spoke no more, Mingyu sighed and backstopped slowly, "Well... goodbye, then."
You managed to choke out the words, "Goodbye."
Your emotions overwhelmed you, tears stinging your eyes as you watched him enter his car. Why did it hurt so much? Why did it feel like your heart was being ripped right out of your chest?
His engine roared to life and your stomach sunk. Was this really the right thing to do? Should you just let him go like this?
You made a split second decision that moment, just as his car moved forward a little.
"Mingyu!" You called after him, immediately making him stop the car. He came out, almost in a hurry, an expectant look on his face as you ran towards him. Then you made another split second decision as you wrapped your arms around his tall frame and held tight.
"I like you, Mingyu. I really like you." You mumbled in his chest.
He didn't say anything back but you felt his arms wrapping around you tightly and you stood there in each others embrace for a while. It felt like time has stopped, the warmth and safety of his arms comforting you and making you realize how you would have regretted if you had let him go.
Mingyu pulled back to take a look at your face, his hand cupping your cheeks, his warm but intense eyes on you, shining with love and adoration.
"Say something," you whispered, still unsure.
He chuckled, a light-hearted, carefree sound that made your heart swoon. "I like you too, if it wasn't obvious after last night."
Elated, you pulled his face down and kissed his lips as you felt him grin and wrap his arms around you once again.
"I want to go with you...to the city," you murmured into his chest as he rested his chin on the top of your head.
You couldn't see it but you felt him smirk, "Good. Because I think I found my home."
Your heart couldn't become fuller as you grinned like a happy child.
"Me too."

PART 4: THE END
You still feel jetlagged from the return flight from your honeymoon in Paris. Though it was a pure luxury, travelling in Seungcheol's private jet and staying at the fanciest hotels, you still feel sore and tired. Seungcheol however seems as usual, if not more tensed as he furiously types away on his laptop. He's been busy as hell; a week away putting a huge workload on him.
You insisted that a honeymoon wasn't necessary but he brushed you away, saying a getaway is necessary for the both of you and the others would be suspicious if you two didn't have a honeymoon. The trip was dreamlike and you still have a hard time believing you actually experienced that. You visited the prettiest places and are the most amazing food with Seungcheol the past week, no to mention the countless orgasms he gave you each night. You could get used to that, which is alarming.
Your fingers trace over the necklace Seungcheol gave you on your honeymoon; a beautiful, thin gold chain with a small heart pendant, as you stare at the man sitting next to you on the breakfast stool.
"The food is getting cold," you speak. He looks at you frowning, before replying, "I've to get going. I've a meeting in an hour." He stands up, shutting his laptop and reaching for his jacket.
"At least eat something," you insist. He shakes his head before dropping a kiss on your forehead, "I might return late, I've so much things to sort. Don't wait up for me."
You watch him march out of the room, a sigh leaving you. You're left alone in his huge penthouse expect for the housekeeper who clears away your plates.
-
Time seems to move slower at Seungcheol's penthouse. You chat with Jane over the phone for hours, attend the online culinary course you signed up for and even have a phone call with your mother who, surprisingly says she'll visit sometime soon but nothing makes the day come to an end.
In the evening, you prepare dinner before sitting down with your culinary book and a glass of wine. You then opt to watch TV and almost fall asleep on the sofa until you here the front door open.
It's almost 12 and true to his words, he's late. His tired frame appears on the living room, frowning at you as you sit up.
"I told you not to wait up," his voice is gruff.
You shrug, "I couldn't really sleep."
He sighs. His face is dull and his hair is disheveled and he holds his suit jacket in one hand and his tie in the other.
"Would you like some dinner?" You offer, unsure what to do.
He shakes his head, "I'm gonna take a shower and sleep."
"Okay."
Despite is rough day, Seungcheol is kind enough to ask you how your day went as you both get in bed.
"It was okay..." Your voice is breathy. His arm is draped over your waist as he lies behind you, holding you tight. "I...signed up for the culinary course I told you about."
"Oh, how is it?" His voice is soft as he snuggles you, his nose in your hair.
"Good," you whisper, your heart beating fast. Seungcheol being so gentle and intimate with you makes your brain short-circuit and you almost think that this is real.
A silence follows and you think he has fallen asleep but he speaks, "There's a party this weekend at my parents house. My mom says we need a little party for you to get to know everyone."
"Oh."
"Don't worry, my father won't be there. He'll be away on a business trip. That's why my mom decided to host a party."
A soft laugh escapes you, "I'm not worried, Seungcheol. I'm actually glad for you. You'd probably start a fight if he was there."
Seungcheol presses a kiss on your neck before murmuring, "I love it when you call my name."
Your body tenses as your cheeks heat up. Seungcheol doesn't say anything but wraps his arm tighter around you, throwing his leg over yours.
"Sweet dreams, sweetheart."
-
You've start putting on your earrings when Seungcheol appears from the bathroom, dressed in a gorgeous maroon shirt- that matches your dress and black pants. His shirt's top buttons are undone and you watch him button them up through the mirror, until, you remember something.
You reach into the drawer below the dresser before turning to face him. "Um... Seungcheol?"
You're shy for no reason, holding the small box behind you and swaying back and forth.
"Yeah?"
"Um," you take a few steps to stand in front of him before pushing the small box into his hands. "This is a gift... for you. You know, you've been so nice to me and brought me so many things...it's just- a small token of my appreciation." You look anywhere but his eyes, hands fiddling behind you. Seungcheol raises an amused brow at you. "You know you really didn't need to do this," he says, opening the box.
Inside, rests a pair of silver cufflinks in the shape of 'S', his initial. He's quiet for a bit and you start worrying, "It's okay if you don't like them...they aren't really that expens-"
You're cut off as he pulls you by the waist and kisses your lips, slow and gentle.
"I love them." He states once he pulls back and you watch him put the cufflinks on. Once he's done he presses yet another kiss on your forehead, holding you in his arms. "Thank you, sweetheart. I'll make sure to treasure them," he murmurs and you sigh dreamily, you're heart feeling full.
"You're welcome, Seungcheol."
-
Seungcheol's mother's face is glum when you find her in the dining area. A small smile appears on her face as she sees you both and comes in for a hug before announcing, "Your father returned early."
Oh shit.
Seungcheol is quiet for a bit before letting out an exasperated sigh.
"I'm so sorry, I had no idea," his mother apologizes. "It's not your fault mom," Seungcheol grumbles, rubbing his temples. He turns around abruptly murmuring something about saying hi to others and walks away.
You give a stiff smile at his mother, "Don't worry, Mrs. Choi. I'll try to keep him out of trouble."
She gives you a sad smile as you catch up to Seungcheol.
-
Seungcheol's relatives are really nice and kind to you- leaving you in great surprise. You imagined them to be somewhat like his father but they turned out to be quite the opposite and you genuinely enjoy their company and conversations.
By dinnertime you've finished two glasses of wine and made friends with Soonyoung's wife; who turns out to be a funny and charismatic person to be around. You and Seungcheol sit with them during dinner and while Soonyoung's wife tells you about how she and her husband met, the boys chat about business and such.
You almost forget about Seungcheol's father until bump into him infront of the restroom after dinner.
You almost stumble and land on your ass as he stands in front of you, sharp eyes trained on you as if you're a prey.
"Good evening, Mr. Choi," you struggle to get your wits together.
"You're really shameless," he scoffs as if he can't believe it.
Errr...what?
You inhale deeply. "I really don't know what I've done to disappoint you but please give us a chance." You play the polite card.
He laughs a humourless laugh before shaking his head, "My shameless son got himself a shameless wife. I just don't get it...why is he such an idiot? How can my son be like this?" He rants on as if you're not there.
Your blood spikes at words and the wine you had before makes you speak before you can think, "With all due respect, sir, Seungcheol is an incredibly talented person and if anything, you should be proud of him, not badmouth him every chance you get."
His father raises a brow, amused, "Oh, this girl has some teeth, no? The only reason you're praising him is so that I hand over my company to him."
"I feel sorry for Seungcheol, he doesn't deserve a father as awful as you." You spit.
Shit...did you really say that to his face?
"What did you say?" His father steps closer to you, "So you're done playing the good wife and now you're running that disgusting mouth you filthy-"
"Father!"
It's Seungcheol.
Oh. Shit.
This is gonna turn into a war zone.
You quickly rush to Seungcheol, trying to stop him from getting close to his father but he's furious, brushing you away he hisses, "I tolerate everything you say to me but I won't tolerate when you insult my wife like that."
He grabs his father by the collars. "How could you stoop so low? Have you ever thought about how much of an asshole you are?" Seungcheol is seething, looking like he could tear his father into two.
A gasp is heard from behind you and you turn around to see Mrs. Choi, horrified.
Shit. You had one job.
"Seungcheol!" She calls as if to stop her son who pays no heed to her.
Seungcheol's father is equally stubborn, he doesn't move an inch but glares at Seungcheol with flame in his eyes, "And do you know how much of a disappointment you have been? Do you realize how pathetic you are? You are nothing but a shame to the Chois."
You know Seungcheol is about punch his father right in the face so you pull him back with all your might, desperate to not let this get any worse.
You manage to pull Seungcheol off of his father and with the help of Mrs. Choi you both hold back a mad Seungcheol.
"I had enough! I don't your fucking company!" Seungcheol screams.
What?
"Don't ever show me that face again," Seungcheol spits and frees himself from your grip before storming out of the place.
You stand there stunned as you watch Mr. Choi fix his suit while Mrs. Choi sobs. "Why are such an animal!" She bellows.
Mr. Choi completely ignores her and announces, "You shall never invite him in my house. If you wish to be with him, you're welcome to leave anytime."
Mrs. Choi stares dumbfounded at her husband's retreating figure.
You reach for her, "I'm sorry-"
She holds up her hand, "I need a moment." You watch her take her leave. The remaining silence becomes overwhelming for you to bear.
So this is how it'll end.
-
After what felt like an eon of silence and tension and anger in the car, you and Seungcheol reach home. He is quiet as you both enter the penthouse and take off your shoes.
You watch him warily. Knowing very well he won't speak, you break the awful silence, "Are you... really gonna give up the company?"
Seungcheol turns to meet your eyes. His voice is awfully calm, "Yes."
You swallow. If he's going to give up the company...that means he won't need you anymore. That means he's gonna divorce you and this is the end of you and him. It's over.
It's over before it started.
Still you dare to ask.
"What about us?" Your voice sounds strained and small.
He his expressionless, "I'll prepare the divorce papers as soon as I can."
The words you hear are exactly what you expected but still it manages to rip your heart out and shatter it into a million pieces. You suddenly feel too tired, too emotional. You feel like you'll drop onto your knees and start crying right here.
"I'll prepare for bed," you croak out and quietly step into the bedroom.
-
The dreadful morning comes in the blink of an eye and when you step into the dining, Seungcheol is seated in the breakfast stool, typing away on his computer.
"Hey." You murmur.
"Hi," he replies, not bothering to look up at you. You sit there, fiddling with your hands for a while and just as you're about to open your mouth, his eyes meet yours.
"The divorce papers will be ready in a couple of days. You're finally free from all these drama," he waves his hand chuckling.
You just watch him with a heavy heart. You're feeling so much right now but you can't put them into words.
"I've got you a nice place for your shop. Also...take this," he reaches into his pocket and pushes an envelope towards you. "I've written a check for you. Use this to decorate your shop. And if you need more don't hesitate to call me." He smiles at you.
"No!" You blurt out. He frowns.
"I-I... don't want your money or anything. I'll manage it myself so please don't bother." You meet him in the eye.
"___, a deal is a deal. Did you forget?" He snaps.
"Yes but...but I failed you. You won't be having the company so I can't accept all this," you're adamant.
"I chose to give up. It was my decision and it has nothing to do with you. You deserve what you signed up for." His voice is strict as he scowls at you.
"I can't!" Your voice breaks. "I... can't accept your money Seungcheol, please."
No, you can't, not after falling in love with him. It feels like you've used him. No- you won't accept his money. It feels so wrong. You'll start all over again, no matter how hard it is but you can't get all these privileges from him.
"Why are you being so difficult!" He yells, standing up. "Are you trying to play hard? You don't have to! This was our deal!"
"It's because I'm in love with you!" you're yelling.
Oh shit. You just-
Oh dear fucking lord.
Seungcheol looks confused for a bit before his eyes go wide as he stares at you, bewildered. You're equally dumbfounded, not believing that you actually said those words out loud.
What have you done? Fuck.
Seungcheol opens his mouth but you spare him, holding your hand up, "Just... don't. Leave me alone." You choke out before making a beeline for the front door. You can't face him after this, no, so you can only escape.
Where do you go now?
Jane, yes.
-
You're staring at the wine glass in your hand in complete silence. Jane is surprisingly mute, probably still shook after listening to what you did.
Outside night has fallen and you wonder if Seungcheol is looking for you. You've turned off your phone, unwilling to pick his calls.
"What are you gonna do now?" Jane asks quietly.
"I've no idea," you whine, putting your face in your hands. "I've my clothes and stuffs at his place. I've to go get them sometime. Or maybe I can just message him to send those over."
"___, you're still married okay? You've to meet him sooner or later. Also what about his mom?"
Shit.
"No, no no. What am I gonna say to her?" You howl. "I'm fucked!"
"Undoubtedly," Jane mutters dryly, finishing her glass. You follow in suit, chugging down the drink.
Lord help me.
The doorbell rings and your first thought is Seungcheol is here. Jane gets up to answer it and appears a moment later, frowning, "Someone is asking for you."
Who?
You go to see Seungcheol's chauffeur standing at the door.
"How did Seungcheol even find- never mind," you hold up your hands. "I'm not going," you say to the man.
"Ma'am, Mr. Choi has strictly ordered me to bring you home. If you resist, he himself will be here to pick you up."
"One second," Jane interrupts and closes the door before turning to face you, "I think you should go. What's done is done, you can't change it. You can only end it smoothly now. Be confident, there's no place to hide now, girl. The more you run the worse it'll get."
Fuck. She's right. This isn't about only about you. You've a ton of people to apologize to and say goodbye. First you've to go through him, Choi Seungcheol.
The man you love.
-
Seungcheol is still in his office outfit you quietly step into the penthouse, embarrassed to your core.
He turns around and gives you a soft smile- unexpectedly. His eyes are oddly compassionate and you don't know what to make of it. So you just stand there, in the middle of his huge living room, feeling more intimated than ever, unable to lock eyes with him.
"Come here," his voice is soft as he takes a seat on the couch. You pad over to him and sit down, holding your breath.
He surprises you when he reaches for your hand and kisses your knuckles softly. "Why did you run?" He asks, his voice so gentle as if he's talking to a scared child.
You've trouble finding your voice, "I...I was embarrassed."
"You shouldn't be," he rubs your hands.
"W-what do you m-mean?" You choke. You're feeling so emotional; maybe because of the alcohol or maybe because of him being so sweet and gentle with you.
Seungcheol sighs, looking down at the ground, "You know...I've always wanted to be alone and I... thought I was happy until you came along. The deal we made was purely for selfish reasons, yes, but as I started being around you, I felt- feel...full. I feel like I'm complete, like I'm not alone. I feel happy whenever I think of you. I feel happy when I see your face, when I fall asleep next to you. And... thinking of a time without you...makes me unbearably sad. So when you say you're in love, you're not the only one."
You're at a loss of words. Does he mean-
"You- you're in love with me?" You squeak out, breathless.
He smiles before nodding, "Yes, I am."
"Wha- I...why- why didn't you-"
"I thought you were not interested in me. I thought you'd feel uncomfortable if I told you that," he chuckles softly, his eyes shining.
You stare at him mutely. You're overwhelmed. You don't know what to say, what to do. You don't even know if this is real. He really loves you? Choi Seungcheol?
"Hey," he calls, tilting your chin up. "Don't cry. I've hurt you so much already-"
"No!" You yell, wrapping your arms tightly around him. "No...I've never been happier. You make me happy, always." Seungcheol holds you tight, wrapping his arms around your waist.
"You make me happy too. So much," he whispers.
You pull slightly and ask, "Does this mean...you won't be divorcing me?"
"Heck no, woman. You're stuck with me for the rest of your life," He growls kissing you hard once more. "But you're accepting the place I bought for you. And the money, I'm gonna transfer it to your-"
"No- Seungcheol, not the-" you're cut off as he pushes your back on the sofa and starts unbuttoning you top. "You say another word and I'll gag you," his eyes are dark as he makes a quick work of your top before discarding it somewhere on the floor.
"Seungcheol! Stop!" You squeal.
He gently nips your earlobe, "Just keep quiet, sweetheart. I'm gonna fuck you into tomorrow," he promises, sending a delicious shiver down your spine before carrying you to the bedroom.
A LONG TIME AFTER THAT
Seungcheol nuzzles your neck, pressing soft kisses as he stirrs awake. "Don't go," he tries to stop you from getting up, his voice hoarse.
"Mmm but I've to open the shop," you mumble, trying to free yourself from his hold. "You have work too, Cheol."
"Mmm, no, stay. Call Chan and tell him to open the shop today."
"But-" he pulls you tight under the covers, wrapping his arms and legs around you.
You're so not getting out of bed.
"Cheol~" you whine as he presses soft kisses on your neck and shoulders. He leans on his elbows slightly and then says out of the blue, "I saw your test in the bathroom."
Fuck.
"Oh my God!" You sit up horrified. "I swear I found out yesterday! I was gonna surprise you!"
"Hush, it's okay," he chuckles, kissing you chastely on the lips. "Fuck, we're gonna be parents. I can't believe it."
Your cheeks flame, "Yeah, it's... amazing." Seungcheol grins at you flashing his dimples, "You're perfect you know?" He strokes your cheek.
"Stop being all sappy," you huff, crossing your arms. "You ruined my surprise."
Seungcheol pulls you closer by the waist murmuring, "Next time hide the test well and you can surprise me."
"Hmm...how many kids do you want?" You peer up at him.
"Five at least."
"Five! Are you crazy?"
"Mmm...3 then."
"Okay, daddy, one step at a time." You roll your eyes. Seungcheol laughs loudly before pulling you to lie with him. "Why don't we start practicing now?"
"Cheol-" he shushes you with a kiss. "I love you, sweetheart."
"I love you too, Seungcheol."

-----------------
“I want to kiss you, because I love you”
Tumblr media
synopsis: After your shared kiss with Jeonghan a week ago, you have been avoiding him. You two are then sat next to each other after Jeonghan loses a drinking game. He takes this opportunity to try and give you a hint about his true feelings that he had been considering all week.
parts: 1 - “I want to kiss you” | 2 - “I want to kiss you, because I love you.”
genre: romance
characters: friend!jeonghan x friend!reader, ft. friend!seungcheol
a/n: I didn't get to upload/write yesterday because of crazy stuff but I managed to write today! Thank you for the two ideas! I combined them and was able to write this :3
-----------------
Sitting in the restaurant next to Jeonghan, you couldn't help but feel suffocatingly awkward.
Everyone was having fun, eating, drinking, playing drinking games, but you were stuck suffering again. It had been a week since you and Jeonghan contacted each other. It was so hard to call him, reply to his texts, or do anything with him. Even in group chats, you couldn't find your fingers typing anything in reply to any of his messages.
In group gatherings like this, you usually sat as far away from his as possible. All you wanted to do was forget the incident because you were sure that Jeonghan found it extremely uncomfortable to be around you, but doing exactly that was nearly impossible.
No one else knew of the secret and you weren't sure that you could tell anyone. How could you tell a friend, who was also a friend of Jeonghan, that you wanted to kiss him because you loved him and actually did kiss him after three years of knowing each other?
Jeonghan didn't start out sitting next to you; you had been trying your best to avoid him, but you two ended up seated next to each other when Jeonghan lost a drinking game. Instead of the penalty of drinking, he had to spin 10 times and then close his eyes and pick a friend to switch seats with, which had to be the friend sitting next to you.
Today, he seemed weirdly attentive but you couldn't help but back away from him. You didn't have any hope and you were sure that the friendship you two had would be broken with time.
In the past week, you were stuck reminiscing the memories you made with Jeonghan, who was a good friend. He was funny but calm, mischievous but mature, he was a great guy who was kind and caring; from the time where you two and a few friends went into an arcade to the time that you, him, and two other friends played around in a sauna... There were so many happy memories, how could you just ruin it all?
You kept thinking and thinking, wondering why you wanted such a thing. It was such an obvious answer that you didn't want to accept.
You glanced at Jeonghan, who had one of his arms down on the round table. He was holding a drink and conversing with his friends, discussing the next game. He was still strikingly handsome.
You drank some of the alcohol in your shot glass, staring down at the table.
‘I like you,’ you confessed inside your head. ‘I'm sorry.’
-
For the past few days, Jeonghan had been watching you closely; not in a stalker-like manner.
Jeonghan couldn't stop thinking about the heart-fluttering kiss that you two shared in his car. The atmosphere was just perfect and thinking back on it, he could feel his heart race. Even just glancing at you was enough to bring the memories of that moment flooding back into him.
So, he observed you because he was curious about how you were feeling after the kiss but as he continued observing, Jeonghan began to realize what a great person you were. You two met through a mutual friend, Seungcheol, three years ago, and began to hang out, though it was usually with some other friends. You two would also message each other often, but not really call.
You were a caring, bright friend that he took for granted. You were sweet and selfless and sometimes you were funny and dorky, but then you were also serious and mature when you had to be. Jeonghan recalled the many times he saw you being a great listener and handing out great advice. He also remembered the times that you showed warming acts of kindness to not only your friends but to strangers as well.
You were stuck in his mind.
Now, you two were sitting around a table with a group of friends. He could tell that over the past few days, you had been avoiding him. Every time that Jeonghan came to you to try and talk alone, you made up an excuse to leave.
Since you haven't left yet and instead stayed sitting next to him, Jeonghan was a bit surprised but thought of this as his only opportunity.
Everyone was talking and shouting. After making a few bets with his friends, Jeonghan grew quiet. The group began to talk rather than just playing games. They brought up trending and controversial topics, talked about work, complained about life, and talked about their romantic relationships, all that stuff.
Jeonghan tried to blend in with the group by talking here and there but even now, you were avoiding his touch, which caught his attention. You wouldn't even let your shoulders touch him.
You went quiet immediately when Jeonghan moved to sit next to you and he noticed that sometimes, you would glance at him. In the corner of his eye, he could see you stealing glances only to look away sadly.
Jeonghan couldn't take it anymore.
The conversation began to blur out.
He took one last soju shot before setting the glass cup down onto the wooden table. He glanced down and saw your hands resting on your knees.
Jeonghan turned to look at you but you were facing the opposite direction, looking over at your friend who was complaining about her boyfriend who had started avoiding her after their first kiss.
He reached his hand to yours, under the table but just as he was about to touch yours, his hand froze as he hesitated to grab yours. He stared at your hand that was still resting on your knee.
Jeonghan looked away and nervously, he picked up the courage to grab the back of your hand.
The action was sudden, causing you to jump, but you didn't turn to look at him. You just felt the warmth of his palm on yours. You didn't know what to do, your heart was racing.
Jeonghan was trying to play it cool by engaging in conversations again but the heat was slowly rising inside of him.
“Ugh, but seriously! How could my boyfriend ghost me after our first kiss? Isn't that so weird?” Your friend continued.
“What a jerk,” Jeonghan commented.
Your heart was nearly beating out of your chest. Slowly, you could feel his warm fingers intertwine with yours. You didn't even want to stop it because you knew how much you liked him. Was this a sign of hope?
“Oh! You know, there's this girl in the finance department in my college, she's a total player!” One of Jeonghan's friends began, drawing everyone in with his enthusiastic storytelling voice. Jeonghan leaned in to hear the story too, acting way too natural while you were frozen. “I was one of her victims. She drew me in with her calm voice and made me give her gifts... gosh, I can't believe I fell for her! After that, she ghosted me too. Are you sure your boyfriend isn't a player?”
“Are you serious? My boyfriend has been my friend since I was in diapers!”
Jeonghan chuckled, tightening his hand around yours.
“You're just a fool,” Seungcheol and Jeonghan said.
You finally turned your head to him, seeing his other arm resting on the table as he listened intently to the other conversations.
Your palms began to grow sweaty, being glued to each other under the table. Your heartbeat began to calm down. Jeonghan was feeling his burning body temperature cool down.
“Thanks for meeting again today, I had so much fun,” Seungcheol said, shaking hands with the friends around the table. “Sorry we're so busy to hang out all the time.”
Everyone was standing up, getting ready to leave, and saying their goodbyes.
Jeonghan finally let go of your hand and reached to shake hands with one of his friends that were in college.
The college friend was a bit surprised and tilted his head slightly with suspicion.
“How come your palm is so sweaty and warm?”
Jeonghan chuckled softly, looking at you briefly. “I had it in my pocket.”
-
You had your hands clasped together, waiting impatiently at the side of the road, looking for signs of a cab. Your heels tapped the sidewalk as you waited while biting your lip.
You were sure everyone had left and according to the internet, it was supposed to rain soon. Currently, it was 5 pm, and the way from the restaurant back to your house would take at least two hours on foot.
Jeonghan walked up behind you quietly, not saying a word. He just sent off Seungcheol, who was at first a bit stubborn about going alone. Jeonghan wanted to finally be alone with you and explain himself a little.
He watched as you looked from side to side, waving your hand in hopes of getting a taxi, only to get cars zooming by.
“Y/N,” Jeonghan said, walking up to stand beside you. He had his hands secured in his pockets and he stared ahead. “You trying to get a taxi?”
“Yeah,” you replied awkwardly. “You didn't leave yet?”
“No, Seungcheol threw a fit and demanded to go alone so I got abandoned.”
You smiled awkwardly, wondering if you should bring up what happened inside the restaurant.
Jeonghan turned to you. Upon seeing your face, he just couldn't see you the same way. You were someone beautiful, caring, sweet, and selfless. You were someone so amazing as a friend, as a person, and possibly as a lover. His eyes couldn't help but fall onto your lips as the kiss replayed in his head.
He stared at you as the two of you waited, wondering if you had gotten his message in the restaurant.
“Are you also waiting for a cab...?” You asked, turning your head to Jeonghan. His intense gaze was making your heart race.
His expression was strange. You had been avoiding him so much that you never got a good, clear look at him again. His face was hard to read and you couldn't tell at all what he was thinking.
Turning away, you asked quietly, “What's wrong?”
Jeonghan's expression softened.
“I want to kiss you,” He turned his entire body to you, taking out his hands from his jacket pockets. “because I love you.”
You turned to face him.
“What?”
You knew that the hand-holding under the table meant hope but you couldn't believe it.
“I want to kiss you.”
You blinked your eyes, feeling your heartbeat accelerate.
“I want to give my love to you.”
His expression as he said those words was completely serious. He wasn't joking.
A strong wind blew his hair back, sending chills through your skin. The rain was coming and the clouds were growing dark and grey.
You let out a soft smile and took a final, decision-making step toward Jeonghan. You placed your hand onto his shoulder, tippy-toeing to reach his soft, thin lips. With your face slightly tilted, you kissed him, feeling the gentle rain tap your head.
Jeonghan stayed still, feeling the cool wind blow past him. He wondered how your lips could be so sweet and warm.
Slowly, he closed his eyes, bringing his arm to your back, bringing you closer. He deepened the kiss with his passionate lips, enwrapping his arms around your waist. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders as the rain began falling harder.
Even after getting wet, you two pulled away with smiles. With your chests touching, your foreheads kissed each other. Your eyes met after the kiss and the two of you couldn't help but burst into soft, cute giggles, with your foreheads still pressed together.
“I love you,” You said. “I think I've always loved you, I just mistook it as friendship, having a good relationship, and making good memories.”
Jeonghan smiled, kissing your nose with his. “What? Can you say that again?”
“Quit it, don't act like you've always known your feelings for me.”
Jeonghan chuckled, clasping his hands that were around your waist.
“Thanks for allowing me to realize my feelings,” Jeonghan said, giving you a quick peck. “If not for you, I would have continued my life as a fool.”
You smiled. It didn't feel real. “What did I even do?”
“You made me suffer by leaving me like that. I was able to do it before, not contacting you for a week, but this time, it was different. I had you on my mind all the time and I kept worrying that you'd leave me because of the way we left off.”
You both chuckled before he spoke again.
“You aren't going to be my friend anymore.”
You looked at Jeonghan, feeling his gaze overwhelm with love.
“Instead of always meeting you through Seungcheol, I'm going to call, video chat, and message you freely. I'm going to take you out with just the two of us.”
Jeonghan pulled you into a hug, warm and tight amid the rain. You tightened your arms around his waist, pressing your ear against his chest, hearing his heartbeat. He placed his hand on your wet hair, stroking it gently.
“Because you're mine now.”

“Kkeke”
Tumblr media
synopsis: You and Seungcheol like each other, you both know that and so do your best friends, the 1997 liners. While practicing for a collaboration stage for an award show, the 1997 liners continue their teasing; when they leave, Seungcheol finally asks you out.
genre: romance, fluff, comedy/humor(?)
characters: idol!seungcheol x idol!reader, kim mingyu, lee seokmin, xu minghao (svt's 1997 line)
a/n: I had no idea what to name this imagine so since Seungcheol laughs cutely I named it while thinking of cute giggles + I feel like I had more requests in my inbox... Am I done?? It feels like (after my factory data reset) that some requests went missing in my inbox or maybe I just remembered wrong...? + the day after tomorrow, requests are reopening (after two-ish months)!
-----------------
The three 1997 liners placed their heads on top of each other, peeking into the practice room through the entrance.
“I knew it,” Seokmin said, squinting his eyes as he stared at the two of you, dancing and minding your own business. “It was so obvious that something was going on... Aren't I a genius?”
The other two who had their heads placed on top of his, Minghao and Mingyu, giggled at Seokmin's remark.
You and Seungcheol were preparing for a collab stage; it would be the opening performance to an award show. Being paired up together, you visited SEVENTEEN's practice room often to practice. The choreo was beautiful and represented a dark love since the award show was going to take place around Halloween.
Mingyu then added in a sneaky whisper, “Honestly, I knew it from the start, I just didn't say anything about  it.”
Minghao continued to giggle, finding the words of his two 1997 mates rather silly. “You guys are jumping to conclusions. They are just practicing!”
Seokmin faced his head up to face Minghao. Then quietly, with his face dead serious, he asked, “Then why are you also whispering?”
The three couldn't help but giggle again.
You and Seungcheol were extremely concentrated on practicing because neither of you noticed the three, creepy but cute, stalking heads at the door. All you two could focus on was each other and the moves being executed by your bodies. Your eyes were glued to the mirror, monitoring yourself and your dance moves; but you were also using it as an excuse to avoid eye contact with Seungcheol.
As the 1997 liners predicted on a whim, they were right, you did like Seungcheol. The 1997 liners were your bestest of best friends so it wouldn't be surprising to you if they figured out your feelings before you could even tell them.
Ever since you met Seungcheol, you liked him. He just had this masculine and charming aura floating around him. Every time that you met his eyes, it appeared that he had gotten more attractive than the last time you locked eyes with him. Seungcheol was caring, cute, and filled with leadership skills that were to praise for. You wanted to get to know him better but you were afraid that since you two were idols, he wouldn't be interested in a serious relationship, and instead focused on his career.
And to avoid the consequences of rejection, such as awkwardness between the two of you and the 1997 liners, you decided to stay a coward, even though you knew that Seungcheol felt the same way.
Seungcheol, on the other hand, had completely different plans. The more that you two hung out, whether it was through practice or mutual friends, the more he became attracted to your unique and dreamy charms. You tripped him and caused him to fall head over heels for you so being a coward was not on his list.
He had a plan, and today, was the day he was going to execute it.
“Seungcheol...?”
You said quietly, turning to him, trying to pull your wrist away from him. He seemed to be caught in a daze and the way he was staring at you wasn't helping your burning condition.
You two were in one of the dancing positions, where he held your waist and wrist with your body leaning against his. With your chests pressed against each other, you could sense his heartbeat quicken, just like yours.
Seungcheol didn't want to let you go. The romantic atmosphere, the position, everything was perfect for his confession. Seungcheol subconsciously squeezed your wrist gently, making your heart race even more. He was about to speak with his eyes locked with yours, but you looked away and pulled yourself away from his grasp.
“Sorry,” Seungcheol said, feeling his ears flush with red.
“It's okay, is something wrong though? You seemed distracted,” You said, walking over to the bottle of water that was sitting on the floor, against the mirror. You also grabbed the sweatband next to it and wiped away the sweat from your forehead.
Seungcheol followed and both of you sat down against the mirror of the practice room. That's when Seungcheol spotted the three heads, and this creepy sight caused him to jump, cross his arms over his chest, and shout, “HEY! ARE YOU GUYS FREAKING OUT OF YOUR MIND!?”
They had on mischievous grins, their heads in the room just enough to have seen everything.
You were drinking water when you noticed the three 1997 liners, around the same time as Seungcheol did. You jumped and nearly choked on the water that was flowing down your throat.
“What are- WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING!?”
The three of them didn't even bother coming inside, their childish grins explained everything they saw and everything they heard.
Minghao was the first to leave, his last statement was, “Well, I'll leave you two lovebirds be.”
Mingyu chuckled and gave his leader a small double thumbs up before quickly leaving as well.
Seokmin, being the only one left, smiled awkwardly. “Well, you see, I was just on my way.”
He left only to come back a millisecond later, raising his eyebrows.
“I know everything~ I can see the hearts shooting out of your eyes~”
You almost choked again, but this time, on your saliva.
Even after they left, you could hear them annoyingly and loudly chanting outside of the practice room.
“Y/N AND CHEOL HYUNG SITTING IN A TREE-”
“They- they are so freaking childish,” Seungcheol said, covering his face from embarrassment.
“Gosh, I'm just as embarrassed.”
You covered your face as well as your ears.
“I am way more embarrassed... I practically raised those guys...” Seungcheol couldn't help but shake his head in shame.
-
After the trio left, you and Seungcheol were sitting in silence. From time to time, you two would get flustered when your hands brushed against each other while reading for the water bottles that created a distance from where the two of you were sitting.
After sitting around for around 3 minutes, you turned your head to Seungcheol, only to find him already staring at you. His beautiful eyes and long eyelashes fluttered as they blinked, making your heart pound rapidly.
“...How about we return to practice a bit more? The award show is only three days away and I'm busy tomorrow so we might not be able to...” You found your words getting tangled up on your tongue the more you gazed into Seungcheol's starry eyes. You gulped after catching a glimpse of his masculine neck, then finished your sentence quietly, “practice tomorrow.”
Seungcheol's head was turned to you and his body was facing the opposite side of the mirror. He tilted his head toward the opposite side of the mirror, his hair falling gracefully, his hands clasped in between his spread-out legs.
“Y/N, I have something to ask you.”
His voice was deep, sending chills down the back of your spine, in a good way.
“Sure, what is it?”
“If I like you and ask you out, what would you say?” Seungcheol asked bravely. However, based on his expression, you could tell that he was suppressing his shy giggles.
You could see his ears grow red.
This may have been your only chance in confessing, even if he was asking it for advice.
You smiled slightly and looked away shyly.
“I would say ‘of course’ because I like you too.”
Seungcheol's eyes widened and he bit his lip, his eyes sparkling with blooming love.
“So, do you want to date me?” Seungcheol asked, a hearty smile appearing on his face, making him look all cute and fluffy; which overloaded your heart with cuteness.
He grabbed your arm and pulled you a bit closer to him, not minding that the water bottles that separated you two were now rolling away.
Just one answer and he could start hugging you like a bear.
You smiled shyly, feeling the blush rise onto your cheeks. “Of course, because I like you-”
You couldn't even properly finish that last word, Seungcheol had already given you a tight, sweet, and warm bear hug of joy. He was giggling, smiling, and his heart was jumping all over the place.
-
“I told you that we shouldn't stick around!” Seokmin said, leading the two other 1997 liners back to the practice room.
Mingyu and Minghao snickered, their arms folded. At the same time, they replied, “Aren't you the ones who suggested that we come back?”
Seokmin began to chuckle nervously upon getting exposed for being nosy. “No- it's not that! I'm just worried because they've been practicing for so long and haven't come out yet.”
“It's been like five minutes!” Minghao replied, unable to contain his smile. The situation was so utterly ridiculous that it was amusing to him.
Mingyu unfolded his arms. The three of them were now walking together, side by side. Then, Mingyu commented, “I can't believe we're being dragged into your idea, Seokmin.”
Minghao snickered again, knowing that it was not only Seokmin who was curious but also the first person to agree to his idea, Mingyu.
Minghao shook his head as the three of them arrived at the door to the practice room. “God, you two are no different from each other, huh?”
Seokmin was the first to open the door and before Mingyu and Minghao could even take a look, Seokmin smiled awkwardly and began backing away from the door.
“I actually have to go to the bathroom, I'll be back.”
Mingyu, with his arms around Minghao, suspected nothing of it since Seokmin was always crazy like that sometimes.
They both shrugged and proceeded to open the door as quietly as possible, only to be greeted with some family doe eyes and long eyelashes.
“Trying to see something juicy?” Seungcheol asked.
You peeked out from under Seungcheol's head and raised your eyebrows to tease them. All this time, they had been teasing you two for liking each other, whether it was in practice or off-camera
“Sure, come in, we don't have batons.”
“Um, we'll think about it,” They both said as if echoing each other.
When they left with tiny waves and nervous smiles, you straightened your posture, turning to Seungcheol, your new boyfriend.
Innocently, you said, “But we really don't have batons...”
Seungcheol giggled and with your overwhelming cuteness, he couldn't help but hug you again.

🥺🥺
sleepy x y. jh.
pairing: idol!jeonghan x female oc genre: fluff, 18+ word count: 1.7k+ WARNINGS: not proofread! will edit some other time. stressed oc. a little makeout session in the end. oc is a little shy with intimacy and affection here. pls tell me if i missed anything!
💌: work has been…. idk what to say anymore. please enjoy this pure indulgence.
It’s Jeonghan who usually arrives home late because of his group’s practice, recording, and other commitments. Sometimes you get to greet him awake but oftentimes, you’re already deep in slumber when he gets the chance to plant a soft and lingering kiss on your cheek. He removes his clothes in the dark carefully and showers in the bathroom quietly so that he won’t disturb your sleep. Once he’s all done, he lays beside you and wraps his arm around your body, finding rest in your scent and warmth as he lets go of the day and gets ready for the next one.
However, tonight, your boyfriend’s shoes are the first ones at the small entrance of your apartment. A rare sight that only happens once in a while, considering it’s almost the end of the year. Likewise, you have been working late and staying in the office past 10:00 pm to meet the deadlines your work requires of you.
Quietly, you remove your shoes and tuck them beside your boyfriend’s. You have a shoe cabinet by the entrance and you have been scolding Jeonghan for not putting his inside whenever he stays over, but you can’t be bothered anymore so you just let it be. Your footsteps are light as you drag your feet across the living room to the kitchen. You wash your hands and dry them with a clean towel before grabbing a glass from one of the cabinets to drink some water.

Stay safe lovelies~

If you ever have a stroke and die at an early age, it'll be because of Joshua. You glare at the man across the room, who smiles sweetly at Alison as he hands her some reports.
"Stop burning holes into him," Edith pipes up from beside you, making you roll your eyes.
"Ugh, if I could I would've burned his annoying ass a long time ago," you grumble taking eyes off the man.
"Oh please he's not annoying, far from it actually," Edith sighs making you scoff. "Sure, go ahead and suck his dick then."
"Isn't that what you wanna do?" Edith smiles cheekily making you get up from your chair to smack her. She runs away giggling as others in the office frowns at you. Ignoring them you plop back down on your seat and rub your forehead.
Why did he have to be working in the same office as you out of all goddamn places? Not only that but he made a name for himself and got the best corner office on the floor. At this rate you're afraid you won't get the promotion since all your boss talks about these days is how good Joshua is at his work.
You crumple the documents on your hand, gritting your teeth. At this rate, you won't be surprised if he becomes the CEO. You'll officially go crazy if that ever happens as only thinking about it makes you want to choke that man to death. He has been awarded the best attorney many times and he has almost become a celebrity in the area. Your biggest fear is that Greta, your dear boss, just might start snatching your cases and handing them over to him. Just the thought of that makes you shake your head furiously- if you think about that you won't get anything done for the day.
Just then the face of the devil pops up in your cubicle, all sweet smile and cresent eyes and you roll your eyes. Joshua's dressed in a black turtleneck layered under a neatly pressed black blazer, looking like he came straight out of a runway. His ebony hair is neatly styled, a few strands messily resting on his forehead and if you didn't find him so annoying you'd have probably asked him for a lunch date-
"Can you copy these for me, honey?" His voice is sickly sweet. You glare at him, zoning out of your thoughts, "Copy your goddamn reports yourself, honey."
"Please, you know how busy I am. I really would if I had the time, trust me," he says dropping the stack of papers on your desk and turning on his heel.
You jump from your chair, "Hong! Come back! Do you think I'm your fucking assistant?"
The man pays no attention to you, marching back into his private office, leaving you to fume. A while later you end up copying the reports for him and as you're doing so, Greta appears from Joshua's office making you stop her in her tracks.
"Greta! Hey, how are you?" You grin at your boss.
"Not bad. Just came to office. I've been in bed the last few days, had a horrible cold." She sighs. You nod. "Um, so...are you busy? I need to talk to you."
"Sure, let's talk in my office," Greta says heading down the lobby, her red pumps clinking rhythmically against the marble floor, to her office with you right behind her
"So...I was thinking that Joshua is getting all the good cases, no? Can't you hand some of them to me? You know I'm good at my job." You state to your boss, closing the door behind you as she stakes a seat behind her desk.
Greta laughs, "Oh, ___. Of course I know that. It's just that Joshua finishes the cases quicker, you know? He's practically a celebrity so all the clients personally request him to be their attorney so there isn't much for me to do. And I think it is a benefit for us, we get good publicity because of him and in the end I think we are all happy, no?" She smiles.
"But Greta!" You whine, "This isn't fair. He's- ugh, he isn't that good okay?"
Completely ignoring you, Greta rambles on, "I've an idea! Why don't you two work together?"
"What!"
"Together, like a team. You'd make great partners- even a couple-"
"Oh my god, are you insane?" You howl internally slapping your head.
"Why, I think it's a great idea! You two paired up would be the ace of our firm. You could be the cool attorney couple you know-"
Oh my god-
"You know what, I have a shit load of papers to copy so talk to you later," you force a smile at her, turning on your heel and running out of her office.
There's really no point in talking to her.
Sometimes you're left wondering if murdering Joshua would be such a bad thing.
-
"We're going camping this weekend, just to remind you," Edith says arranging her desk as work hours come to an end.
"Shoot, I really forgot. Thanks for reminding me," you rub your forehead. It has always been a tradition of this firm to go camping yearly with all the staffs.
"It's okay. Greta rented a couple mini-coaches for our department."
"Is she coming?"
"Maybe not. She was telling me that her sister's daughter is getting married that day."
"Oh no. She was so excited for this year's camp." You sigh, slinging your bag over your shoulder. "I know right," Edith smiles, coming up to stand next to you, "Let's go get dinner together."
"Alright."
You both step into the elevator and as you're about to press the close button but a foot appears between the doors, making it halt.
The devil is here again.
You roll your eyes. Joshua smiles looking at the two of you as he steps in, "Good evening, ladies." "Evening, Josh," Edith smiles at him as you scoff.
Can the universe just not keep him away from you for a single day?
-
Weekend comes sooner than anticipated and you head to the office early in the morning to finish reading some of the leftover reports. You and Edith have planned to go to the camping spot together on her father's sedan instead of joining others in the coach. As you get on the elevator, you take your phone out to ring her up and tell her to pick you up in a couple hours, until her name flashes across your mobile screen.
"Hey Edith! I was about to call you!"
"___," her voice is groggy. "Forgive me, girl, I can't pick you up- in fact I ain't coming."
"What!" The elevator comes to a stop on your office floor but you stay rooted to the spot, "What do mean? What happened?"
"I'm sick. I'm so sick I could die," she whines from the other side as you rub your forehead frustratedly, stepping into your department.
"You were fine yesterday evening."
"I know, I know. I was until a god awful headache started last night. I thought I'd be fine in the morning but apparently I've a fever now."
"Oh no. Are you okay? Should I come over?"
"No no. It's okay. I'm sorry I can't pick you up. Just join the others in the coach."
"Yeah... About that. They left a while ago." You sigh, plopping down in your seat.
"What!"
"Yeah, I called Wonwoo to check up on them. They left."
"Oh no girl- I'm sorry, I should have informed you last night-"
"It's alright, Edith. I'll just take an Uber or something."
"Alright...call me when you get there."
"Kayy, rest well."
You stare at your desk for a while tapping your fingers, thinking about what to do. While you want to go camping with others the ride to the spot is a good two hours and you don't have the energy to sit through it alone in an Uber.
Damn it. Why did this have to happen to you?
You pinch the bridge of your nose, looking at the unread reports in front of you. You're about to open one and start going through it until you hear a sound- specifically the sound of a door opening.
You jolt up from your seat. Who's here so early in the morning on a weekend?
Cautiously, you step out of your cubicle and towards the source of the sound, your heart thumping loudly.
Did someone break in? Should you call Greta?
You're about to take the turn towards Joshua's corner office until suddenly somebody appears in your way. You scream on the top of your lungs, falling back while the other person does same.
"What the fuck-!"
You open your eyes to see Joshua, a horrified look on his face as he regards you with wide eyes.
"Oh my god, you asshole! You scared me to death!" You hiss, standing up straight and fixing your dress.
"You're the one who scared me shitless!" He snaps, clutching his chest, "What are you doing snooping around here?"
"I'm here to work, asshole. And I thought someone broke in." You cross your arms over your chest.
"Good lord," Joshua rubs his face. "I was so scared," he says, wearily walking past you to get to the printer.
You huff, fixing your dress. "What are you doing here? You aren't going to the camp?" You ask him, walking towards your cubicle.
"Yeah. I've some works to finish up." Joshua murmurs busy copying his papers. "What about you?"
"Yeah, me too. I've to go through some reports."
"Cool."
You stand against your cubicle, watching the man and wondering wether to ask him for a ride. Your ego doesn't sit right with the idea but much to your disappointment it's not like you've a better option. He's about to walk back into his office when call for him.
"Joshua!"
He turns around, a brow raised. "Um...Can you give me a ride? You see I was supposed to go to with Edith but she's sick and the others-"
"Sure," he says, nonchalant, not even letting you finish.
"Wait, really?"
"Yeah," he shrugs. "It's not a big deal. We're going to the same place anyway. But you'll have to wait for a while. I'm not done yet."
"Sure! That's no problem. I've some work too." You smile, feeling awkward suddenly. You really didn't expect him to say yes.
"Cool."
-
When you and Joshua leave the office it's almost twelve in the noon. After loading your overnight bags in the trunk of his Audi, you get in the passenger's side, waiting for Joshua to start the car.
"Would like some music?" He asks as the engine purrs to life.
"I... don't mind," you mutter. This is something you never thought you'd be doing- going on a long drive with your archenemy, Joshua Hong. Even though it's because of forced circumstances, being in such proximity with Joshua gives you a weird feeling and a small part of you imagines how it'd be to be friends with him.
You glance at Joshua who has been quiet since starting the car, humming to the tune playing. You are struck by how good he looks, though this isn't the first time as one of the reason he manages to get on your nerves is because how effortlessly beautiful he is. Dressed in a blue cardigan over a white shirt and his hair sitting messily on his forehead- a look far different from his usual business attire- you can't help but swoon a little bit. Just a little bit, you say to yourself.
"You know, I never expected this," Joshua suddenly speaks, breaking your train of thoughts as you look away from his face, slightly embarrassed.
"What do you mean?" You question.
"This. Us, together, you know in a situation like this," he says, eyes on the road.
"What do you mean together?"
"Stop overthinking ____. I just meant that you hate me so much yet fate got you in my car going to the camp with me." He says.
"Fate my ass." You grumble crossing your arms. "This wouldn't have happened if Edith didn't get sick."
"Yeah. So it's fate." You can hear the smile in his voice.
"Will you stop!" You hiss. "There is nothing fateful about this!" You motion your hand between the two of you. Joshua chuckles softly making you roll your eyes. "You really like getting on my nerves," You murmur, looking out the window. The sky looks a bit darker than earlier in the morning, overshadowed with black clouds now.
Damn, is it gonna rain?
"Why do you hate me so much?" Joshua asks out of the blue. The question catches you off guard as you blink at the man, processing it.
"I just...do."
"That's not an answer," He says, not sparing any glance at you.
"Well, it's not like you like me very much either," you huff.
"What makes you think I don't like you?" He looks at you this time. You're once again caught off guard, a strange feeling spreading through your heart. You don't have any real answer to that so you let out a sound of defeat and irritation, "Just focus on the road, Hong."
Joshua doesn't prod any further, going back to humming to the tune of the speaker. You look at your fidgeting hands.
Why do you hate Joshua?
Maybe because of the fact that he's so nice and gentle and he's easily everyone's favourite. Maybe because he became a celebrity in the firm overnight, overshadowing you. Maybe because he's so smart and handsome he makes your brain short-circuit. Or maybe because he shamelessly flirts with Alison and that makes you a little, just a little bit jealous. And maybe since you harbor these negative feelings towards him, you have assumed he did the same towards you.
"I don't hate you, for your information," Joshua breaks the silence, his voice soft, almost too quiet. "I don't know what gave you that impression."
You look at him but he doesn't meet your eyes, choosing to stare ahead instead. Silently you admire his face. While doing so, the words easily slip from your mouth, "Since I hate you I just assumed you hated me too."
Your voice sounds timid and you don't like it, why- you don't know. Joshua looks at you for a good moment before looking back at the road. "I see," is all he says.
The moments followed by is quiet until the clouds above starts roaring. You peer up through the window and sure enough, droplets of water have start falling down from the thick cast of clouds.
"It's raining," you whisper, more to yourself. "We checked the weather last week, it said it would be sunny."
"This doesn't look good," Joshua says squinting at the dark sky. "I think a storm is coming."
"Oh God, no." You sigh, a hand flying to your head. The drive to the camp is still a good hour and if there's a storm you have to stop on the way. Moments pass by and the rumbling of the sky grows louder, occasional thunder flashing across the sky. The droplets of water start getting bigger and faster and louder and soon enough you realize it's a hail storm.
"We're fucked," you whisper. "Undoubtedly," Joshua says, concentration fully on the road as it's hard to see clearly even though the windshield wipers continue swinging back and forth. "I think there should be a resting area somewhere nearby. Search it up."
You do so and your result shows that there's a motel a couple miles ahead. "There's a motel on the right a couple miles from here," you speak and Joshua nods, "Let's stop there for a while. I don't think the storm is stopping anytime soon."
By the looks of it, it really won't. The forecast reads that the storm is only gonna grow stronger and is not halting anytime soon, making you heave a sigh.
It takes you more time to reach the motel than it should because of the rain and there's hardly any space in the parking lot as it is packed with cars.
"Damn, I wonder if there's any room available," you say, looking at the view as Joshua finds a place to park.
"Would you like to stay in the car then?" Joshua asks as the Audi comes to a halt.
Your legs ache and the sound of hail crashing on the roof is only growing louder. No way you can sit here for the next few hours. "No, let's try and see if they have any room."
Joshua nods, starting to take off his cardigan. "Here, put this over your head and run. I'll grab our bags."
"Your sure?" Hesitantly you take the piece of cloth from him. He only nods.
The entrance to the motel is quite far as you've parked at the far end of the lot. You've to make a run for it.
"Alright I'm going then," you say, swinging the cardigan over your head as you open the door and run like your life depends on it.
When you're finally under the shade you take off the cardigan and realise that you aren't completely drenched, if that made things any better. However, Joshua won't be as you watch him quickly grab your bags and run towards you, already fully wet.
"Oh my God, you're drenched," you say pulling him under the shade and reaching for your overnight bag. "Well, they better have a room," Joshua smiles at you as you quickly usher him into the motel.
An old lady sits at the reception, stroking a black cat on her lap. Luck seems to be on your side as she informs you that there is one last room left at the fifth floor and gladly you both take it.
The place isn't dingy and dark like you expected it to be but it's still far from fancy carpets and smooth wallpapers. You both take the elevator and then step through the lobby and into your room- a fairly decent one considering the price.
A queen sized bed sits in the middle of the room with a bedside table and a small closet, and a decent looking television, accompanied by a shower.
"It's pretty good actually," you muse, dropping your bags and searching for your towel to dry yourself. "Yeah, they even have room service," Joshua says taking off his soaked shoes and socks.
"You should take a shower first, you're gonna catch a cold." Joshua nods, "I'll be quick," before disappearing into the bathroom while you lie down on the bed sighing deeply.
What a day.
-
After your shower you call Wonwoo, letting him know that you won't be there anytime soon.
"That's actually good," Wonwoo huffs. "The situation here was shit, we almost got blown away. Camping my ass." He throws a string of curses.
"Where are you all staying?"
"Luckily we found a resort nearby so we'll be staying the night there, the owner is really nice. Took pity on us and let us stay even though we didn't pre-book."
"Oh that's good. I'll talk to you later then."
"Kay. Stay safe, don't get blown away."
You laugh, "You too."
You hang up and set down your phone on the bedside table, watching Joshua who stands by the window, stroking a hand through his damp hair. He has put on a black tee that makes his chest and upper arms look impossibly muscular and it leaves little to your imagination. Was he always this bulky? His shoulders look so broad and your wonder how it would feel to dig your nails into-
Focus, ____.
"Others are staying at a resort for the night," you announce making Joshua turn to you. "That's good. There's another heavy shower coming. I think we've to spend the night here."
"Looks like it," you murmur, your mind wandering about the sleeping arrangement. Should you make him sleep on the couch? No, that would be plainly unnecessary. The bed is big enough for the two of you, you just need to stop yourself from making it awkward.
"It's okay, I'll sleep on the couch," Joshua seems to be able to read your mind, making you baffled. "There's no need for that," you frown. "The bed is big enough for both of us."
He shrugs, "Well, if it makes you uncomfortable I can always-"
"I'm fine with it," you declare, making him stop as he accepts with a nod.
You watch as Joshua settles down on the bed with his laptop, saying he'll get some work done- ever the workaholic Mr. Hong. That makes you regret not bringing your own laptop as you are left feeling bored as ever. You send a message to Edith letting her know that you've crashed on to a motel for the night with Joshua.
Bang him and bag him, she texts making you roll your eyes.
You then decide to settle down on the other side of the bed with a book to keep yourself busy. You flicker through the pages, your eyes skimming over to words printed on the beige paper, unable to concentrate. For some reason your mind feels wild and there's a weird feeling in your chest probably because of the proximity between you and Joshua. Every once in a while you sneak glances at him, to see him completely absorbed in his work. No wonder he's so good.
Sighing you rest the book on your chest and watch the rain hit the window. The environment is really serene expect for your heart which seems to be on a marathon, making you feel restless. And you can't help questioning yourself- since when did Joshua's presence affect you so much? Sure you've always found him annoying and he has an expertise in riling you up but the feelings you feel right now are completely different. Is it because it's just you two here? Or is it because you have suppressed some feelings about him and now they're threatening to come out?
"You read?" His voice pulls you out of your thoughts. You turn to find him looking at you with an inquisitive face.
"Not much," comes your reply. He nods. "What about you?" You ask.
"I try to, when I have time."
A silence falls after that, the only sounds being the rain and thunder outside and your own breath. You stare at the ceiling, watching how a reflection falls on it. The clock on the wall reads 3 in the noon but the lack of natural light outside makes it look like it's evening. You've had a couple snacks after shower so you aren't really hungry for lunch, making you contemplate taking a nap.
You should just try to sleep, sleep through all of this and maybe when you wake up you won't feel so weird. But instead of doing that, you find yourself asking, "Do you have a girlfriend?" You peer up at him.
Joshua looks visibly surprised, if not a bit confused. "No..."
Oh.
You nod your head. There's a small silence before Joshua says, "What about you?"
"Me? I don't have a girlfriend either," you joke making him roll his eyes. You chuckle, "I'm single too."
Joshua says nothing more leaving you to your thoughts.
"Do you like Alison?" You blurt out and you don't know what posseses you to say that. The question makes Joshua sit up straight, frowning at you, "No! What makes you say that?"
You shrug, "Nothing. You two are all smiley and flirty with each other so I thought..."
"Well, she may have a thing for me but no way do I like Alison. Besides I think I'm smiley with everyone."
"Not me," you murmur. Joshua picks it up, "Are you complaining?"
"Nope."
There's another moment of silence before Joshua closes his laptop and looks at you, "Are you okay? You're being weird."
"What do you mean?" Frowning, you sit up.
"You know, this-" he motions between you two. "I think this is the first conversation we're having without cursing or being sarcastic and it's...weird."
"Do you want me to curse at you?"
"No- I didn't mean that-" He lets out a frustrated sigh making you smirk. You trace the invisible patterns on the bedsheets as you weigh wether to speak the words that rests on the tip of your tongue. You wonder if you will regret them later and that makes you stop yourself- until you change your mind again.
Taking a deep breath, you speak. "I don't hate you, Joshua."
This is probably the first time you've called him Joshua out loud and the name leaves a soothing feeling in your tongue which makes you want to call his name again. Seriously, what is wrong with you?
Joshua looks at you like you've grown an extra head, those beautiful big eyes of his going wider. "What?" He says.
"I don't hate you, not really," you repeat, sighing."It's just- I've always been competitive and seeing how you became so popular...I always saw you as a competition, I felt like I had to be better than you all the time. I didn't want to lose to you...I guess I was insecure for some reason."
He's quiet, staring at your face as he listens to you intently. It feels like the world has stopped moving. You ramble on, "And you're so nice! You're always gentle and kind with everyone and you're so goddamn handsome- you're literally perfect and it gets on my nerves!"
"You think I'm handsome?" Is all he says. You growl, "Is that all you heard?"
"Answer me," his tone is serious.
You huff, "I swear to God Joshua- of course you're handsome! You're the hottest guy I've ever met!"
You are seriously going to regret this later on. You're subconscious slaps her head at your loose mouth.
Joshua's eyes widen and they flash darkly leaving a trail of goosebumps on your skin. There's a beat of silence in which you pray that the ground would open and swallow you up before he speaks, "Well, since we seem to be confessing, let you tell you something. I really admire you, ___. I know at times I poke fun at you but it's just because you're really cute when you're all flustered. But other than that, you're one of the most talented and headstrong woman I've ever seen. And you're fucking pretty too."
Your mouth hangs open as you blink, trying to figure out if you're hearing things. On one hand you can't believe he said all those things on the other you can't help but squeal internally at what he thinks about you.
"Wow- I don't- I didn't knew that..." You whisper dumbly. Joshua releases a loud sigh, "It's true. And this will probably be good news for you- I'm thinking of taking a break. When I'm gone, my office will be yours so-"
"Wait what? Don't tell me you're quitting!" You frown, scooting closer to him. He can't be leaving for good, can he?
"I won't necessarily quit...it's just that the past couple months has been hectic and I've grown tired of the pressure. I think I need a break."
You open your mouth to speak yet no words come out. Instead you opt to drink him up as you've never been this close to him. He somehow looks even more beautiful, setting your heart aflame, your hands itching to trace the curve of his lips.
Swallowing you whisper. "I guess you deserve it. You're really talented Joshua. I may not have expressed it but I've always respected you too. You're great at what you do so no wonder everyone likes you. It was me who was immature. I'm sorry," the words slip through your tongue easily, surprising yourself. But once you've spoken them, you realize how true they are and how much you mean them. You've given everything up, bared your truest form to him and offered it in a silver platter. Now it's up to him to do whatever he wants with your honesty.
"Don't be sorry," Joshua smiles at you, his signature sweet smile, a hand reaching up to squeeze your arm. "I'm to be blamed too. I'm sorry."
You smile back at him, your heart fluttering and a tsunami of emotions going through you. "I guess we're good then, right?" You whisper, your voice sounding too emotional for your liking.
Joshua nods, "We are." There's a moment where you two simply stare at each other, drinking up one another as you engrave the details of his features in your mind. However, Joshua breaks the moment, "If I asked you to date me, what would you say?"
It's sudden and catches you completely off guard as you let out a noise of surprise and shock. Joshua doesn't say anything, mutely studying your face as you search for coherent words. "I'd...say yes," you whisper, awfully flustered.
"Really?" He seems shocked.
"Yes, really."
"Can I kiss you then?" He's blunt and shameless as he pulls you closer by the waist, his eyes shining dangerously, lips hovering over yours.
"Y-yes."
Immediately his lips crash against yours and you moan unashamedly. The kiss is raw- all teeth and tongue, the feelings and lust you had for each other all surfacing up. You move onto his lap, pulling his raven locks as you throw your legs over his both sides, your lips never leaving his. Breathless, Joshua pulls back and looks at you intently, "You've no idea how long I've wanted to do that."
"Me too," you pant. Joshua grins and pushes you down on the bed, caging his large body over yours. He smiles devilishly as he peppers kisses all over your neck and shoulders, fondling your breasts over your tee shirt. He reaches for the hem of your shirt, ready to take it off before saying, "Tell me now if you don't want this. Once I start I won't be able to stop."
You grab his collar and pull him closer, "No- I want this. I want you Joshua."
The smile on his face is predatory, victorious, making your core clench and you think he's never looked hotter. And you know very well that he won't be done with you anytime soon.
-
The morning next day is all sunshine and chirping birds- making it almost unbelievable that there was a huge storm yesterday. You open your eyes, blinking furiously to adjust with all the light flooding in. Your eyes land on Joshua who folds his clothes into his bag and he must have sensed you because he looks up and throws a dashing smile towards you.
"Rise and shine, baby," he stalks towards you to drop a kiss on your forehead. "Get up. We need to get moving. Wonwoo called earlier, they're back at the camping spot."
You groan, stretching your limbs. There's a dull ache all over your body after last night's activities and you can't help but crack a smile at the memories, feeling giddy. You don't remember the last time you've felt like this. Sitting up, you ask, "What do they have for breakfast here?"
-
After getting dressed you both have breakfast- some toasts and omelette with coffee while chatting over the most random things. You easily understand that you both click perfectly and a small part of you regrets not giving in to your feelings earlier.
"You know, Greta wants us to work together, like... in a team." You wipe your mouth, finishing breakfast. Joshua raises an amused brow, "Really?"
"Yes, really," you smile. "She was talking about how together we'd be the ace of our firm and shit."
"Well, I mean she's not wrong though." Joshua shrugs noncommittally.
"What do you mean?"
"We'd make a great team, don't you think so? Besides, if we work together we'll be able to finish cases quicker. And my office is big enough for two people so..."
"You really wanna work with me?" You're surprised as you take a seat in front of him, inspecting his face.
"Of course, ___. Isn't it obvious? I mean I'm totally smitten by you so yeah." Joshua says, a pink tint in his cheek. You grin goofily, your insides melting at his words.
Wrapping your arms around his neck you move into his lap and say, "Well, I'll say yes only because I love your office."
"Really?" He grins before pecking your lips. "I also have have a personal microwave. And a Nespresso machine." He says with a cheeky smirk."
"You're so cheesy," you look away, trying to hide the heat that has spread all over your face.
"Of course you do!" You roll your eyes. "I'm taking them all," you feign anger, lips forming into a pout. Joshua laughs, a hearty beautiful laugh before murmuring, "I've no problem as long you also take my heart too."
"Only for you."
"Whatever. Let's get going, we're gonna be late," you say getting off his lap and start putting on your shoes.
"Everyone's gonna be surprised," you hear Joshua muse.
"Why?"
"We're the last two people on earth they imagined would become a couple," he says making you laugh. You gather all your bags, smiling, "Indeed, they're in for a huge surprise."
Joshua comes up next to you holding his bags in one hand and offering you the other, "Let's go give them their suprise then." You gladly take it, intertwining your fingers as you both step out of your room and towards the elevator.
And sure enough, when you two reach the camping spot, a serious of gasps from your coworkers welcome you, their eyes trained on your interlocked hands as they watch you both open mouthed. Well, they better get used to it.

Ughhh my heart can't take it. It's so sweeeeeet 🥺💞. This reminds me, I should go bring my blanket I'm cold 😃🥶
Joshua (홍지수):
------------------
“A Sweet Winter Night”
Tumblr media
synopsis: Joshua's flight gets canceled due to a raging blizzard, so he decides to spend the rest of the cold night with you, his lover that is tiny, cute, and gets cold easily. (ft. Warm cuddles and a first kiss)
genre: FLUFF, established relationship
characters: boyfriend!joshua x tiny!reader
word count: < 1k
a/n: I think I'm in love with all my winter fics... Especially “Warmth Amidst The Snowy Night” and now this one... Gosh, why must it be so adorable!??!? + I have a new idea for a book and I might start with it soon??
-----------------
You were sitting on the soft, comfy couch in the living room of your boyfriend's dorm.
Most of the members had left for the holiday, spending time with their parents already back in their sweet homes. Joshua's flight to the US was delayed due to the winter storm. Jun and Minghao were lucky since their flights to China were before the blizzard started burning.
Since the dorm was now empty, he invited you over to have some snacks and watch a movie. Since it was a holiday, he didn't want to spend his time alone, in an empty house. Joshua didn't mind that he had to meet his parents a few days later than the rest of the members; he was glad that he could spend some sweet time with you.
Despite the heater on, the cold, icy breeze from the winter storm stirring outside was sending you shivers. You had your legs brought to your chest, huddling them together closely to try and bring warmth to yourself. Even though all of the members were gone, it was disrespectful to touch something that didn't belong to you.
Your teeth began to chatter. You glanced at the living room window and saw the night sky being filled with white flakes, falling from the dark sky. It looked so beautiful but it was so cold.
‘I wonder if Joshua is okay...’ You wondered, turning back to the TV that was playing one of Joshua's interviews during the ‘YOUR CHOICE’ promotions.
Your boyfriend had stepped out to buy some snacks at the convenience store since “the members stole them for their trip”, he said. You glanced over at the hallway leading to the door, feeling the chills creep down your arms, giving you goosebumps.
Nope, not home yet.
-
Joshua, with his hands carrying bags filled with different types of delicious snacks, entered the pin to the dorm. When he stepped into the dorm, he didn't say anything and just took his shoes off with a warm smile.
“You're back?” He heard you say, your voice echoing from the living room.
Joshua smiled even more warmly, walking down the entrance hallway to the living room.
“What have you been doing?” Joshua asked, setting down the bags of snacks and taking off his black winter jacket, hanging it on the coat rack. He was now wearing a plain white t-shirt with some black sweats.
“Well, I just watched some of your interviews, it was really fun,” You said, giggling softly, your teeth chattering slightly from the cold.
Joshua turned to you upon hearing your chittering teeth and he felt his heart ache slightly. The tiny you was shivering all over from the cold, snowy night while rubbing your upper arms to try and keep yourself warm. You were curled up on the couch cutely, your petite body folded, your toes tapping the edge of the couch.
Joshua shook his head. “Come over, actually-”
Joshua walked over to you and with his strong arms, he picked you up and carried you bridal style to his bedroom. He didn't even need his hands, just one kick, and the door opened widely.
“What??” You asked, confused. Your arms were wrapped around his shoulders.
Gently, Joshua placed you onto his bed before walking to his wardrobe, taking out some large sweaters that fit him but were way too large for you. He took out a fluffy tan sweater and handed it to you.
“This will look good on you, put it on.”
You smiled softly and put it on over your clothes. You could feel the warmth slip in as you put it on while sitting on his navy bedspread.
Joshua had taken out some matching socks that were also the perfect size for his feet, but way too large to fit yours properly. He kneeled before you and slipped the socks onto your freezing feet.
“Gosh, you're so cold... why didn't you grab yourself a blanket?” He asked, his voice in a gentle scolding tone.
“I didn't want to touch anything,” You replied, kicking your feet slightly after Joshua had finished putting on the socks for you.
“You can always come into my room if you need something,” Joshua said softly.
He grabbed his navy blanket that was on his bed and wrapped it around you, ensuring that you were in the warmest state possible. Then, opening some of his drawers and rummaging through them, as if looking for something.
You smiled, looking at him.
Just then, you recalled something you saw in one of his interviews. The thought of it caused you to giggle as you cleared your throat.
“I'm Joshua, Gentle sexy, the real cutie of SEVENTEEN,” You said cutely. You didn't even try to imitate his voice, it was just that his new nickname ‘gentle sexy’ was causing you to giggle. It was a cute nickname and you wanted to tease him a little.
Joshua lets out a laugh as he closed the drawing, a plaid scarf in his hand. “What are you saying?”
“I saw it in an interview! Next time you introduce yourself, you should say this, ‘I'm Joshua, gentle sexy, the real cutie of SEVENTEEN!’” You giggled, holding the navy blanket close around your arms.
Joshua laughed a bit more, wrapping the scarf around the back of your neck. His eyes were glistening and the warmth of his brown eyes made you smile.
You wanted to say something more but Joshua couldn't help himself. He just had to shut you up somehow but also warm you up at the same time. Plus, he just wanted, now, to get a taste of your lips.
With his hands gripping the ends of the scarf, he used that to his advantage, and with the scarf around your neck, he pulled you closer with the help of it. Before you knew it, Joshua leaned in and planted a warm kiss on your lips.
It was your first kiss with him so you felt your heart burn and race. His lips were so warm and soft that you almost forgot you were kidding Joshua, a man and not a plushie. You could feel his warm breath against yours as he kissed you softly.
As he pulled away, you let out a soft giggle. Joshua couldn't help but giggle too as he continued putting on the scarf, making sure that it covered your sweet lips. His eyes were twinkling and it seems as if his eyes held the stars within them. You could never help but stare into his eyes that were always sparkling with love.
Joshua fastened the blanket around your body and with you now fully covered with warmth and ready to battle the cold living room, Joshua picked you up and carried you out.
While in his arms, you decided to give him a quick peck on his cheek.
When he felt your warm lips against his cheek, Joshua couldn't help but laugh cutely. His ears began burning with a red tint, his heart shy with your sudden and cute affection.
“Stop being so cute and tiny like this or I'll really go crazy,” Joshua said, placing you down on the couch.
-
Joshua made two warm cups of hot chocolate and handed you one of the cups. He reached for one of the plastic bags opened a bag of snacks, placing it on the short table in front of both of you as you two watched a drama. The drama was a sweet melodrama with bits of comedy.
Joshua was huddled next to you and you two were sharing the blanket. You had both of your hands holding the cup of hot chocolate meanwhile Joshua's one hand was as big as the cup. You smiled softly seeing the drastic difference in size, and before you knew it, you couldn't help but peck his cheek softly before placing a sweet snack inside your mouth.
You turned back to the TV as if nothing happened, leaving your boyfriend flustered, giggling, and shy. He had his arm around your shoulder and because you were being so cute and affectionate, Joshua couldn't help but squeeze your shoulder gently.
You giggled and turned to face your boyfriend only to be met with a surprising kiss on the lips.
“Oh- sorry, I meant to get your cheek-” Joshua stuttered. You just giggled and kissed him back.
“You don't have to be sorry,” You said, snuggling up to his chest a bit more, feeling his warmth spread throughout your entire body.
Joshua smiled and rested his head on top of your head, softly kissing your forehead and the top of your head. He began munching on the snack and turned his attention back to the drama with the cute and tiny you in his arms, cuddling with him, sharing warmth with him.
You gave Joshua another surprise kiss on his chin but this time, he didn't seem that surprised. He just smiled heart-warmingly and giggled softly, bringing you closer to his chest.
You took a sip of the hot chocolate only to find the warmth of it to be useless since you were already covered by a thick blanket and embraced by the warmest man, Joshua Hong.

you couldn't fall asleep that night. while seungkwan was already dozing off, head laying on your chest with your fingers running through his hair, you stayed awake, staring at the ceiling and through the curtain to the night starry sky.
his soft snore from time to time made you smile. you sighed contently, rubbing his scalp momentarily before murmuring. "i love you so, so much."
"thank you for being with me, for being who you are, for all the things you've done; for me, for yourself, and for others. i'm really, really grateful to know and to have you, you know?" your voice were just below whisper, tone slightly shaky as you expressed every thought inside your mind. not that he was listening - or so you thought. "there were some times where i thought about us, about you choosing me. i kept doubting myself but mostly i just feel really grateful for you to pick me, that you see something in me i can't see. thank you, boo."
with a gentle movement so you wouldn't wake him up, you crouch your head down to kiss the top of his head. "i'll try my best to be a good partner for you. to bring you comfort and happiness, to make you feel better about yourself if you ever didn't, to be your home; because you deserve them all. all the happiness, the joy, good things of everything. you're really nice and warm at times, i honestly believe you're like an angel trapped on earth." a soft giggle slipped out of your mouth.
then you sighed again, gnawing on your lips for a few seconds as your fingers turn to rub his back. "i love you. thank you, seungkwan. i love you a lot." crouching to kiss his head again, you began closing your eyes to try and get some sleep when you felt his arm tightening on your waist and a kiss pressed to the middle of your chest.
"i love you too." seungkwan mumbled with a raspy voice, slowly sliding himself up to line his face with you. when it did, the two of you stare into each other's eyes. "you... this may sounds really cheesy - don't laugh - but you're my sanity, you know that?"
his tone was gentle and stern, you couldn't even pull a smile into your face as you just continue to stare at him.
"if you wanna know what i see in you; i see my whole future in you. i don't see myself with anyone other than you. you know me like the back of my hand, better than anyone. you could see everything past me; every emotion, every side of me, everything. from the most visible, pleasing ones to the deepest, most hurtful side; every single thing in me, you took them out and just.. you kiss them one by one. you appreciate them, you love them wholeheartedly. how can i not fall in love with you?"
seungkwan sighed, bringing his hand to the surface on your cheek and wiping a stream of tear that unconsciously ran down your face. you brought your own to hold his, feeling the warmth and how familiar it is to you. then he fetched a deep breath as he scoot closer to kiss your lips, his arms sneaking back around your waist and below your neck to hug you tight.
"come here." he whispered, pulling you to his chest. "i love you so much too, pretty. i love you more, even. more than i could express, more than i ever showed you. i hope you won't doubt yourself anymore, mm? i'll tell you the reasons every single day if you want me to, i'll show it everyday for you to believe in me."
"i love you too." you pat on his back, silently feeling relief at his words. "thank you for loving me."
"thank you for loving me too."
it was silent for a while and you almost doze off, until you feel his chest vibrating from a soft giggle.
"why are you giggling? you told me not to laugh earlier."
"i'm amazed of my own words, it sounded poetic as hell. days of being forced to read with minghao and wonwoo hyung are finally paying off."
you let out a soft giggle too, playfully patting his back a little bit harder before snuggling deeper into his embrace. then you felt a kiss dropped on top of your head with a murmur.
"let's have a good rest now. night, love."
