 ❝  he  would  definitely  find  out  if  i  weren't  going.  one  of  my  bone-headed  brothers  would  accidentally  let  it  slip  and  then  i'd  be  in  trouble.  ❞  she  sighs,  shaking  her  head.  it  wasn't  that  she  had  anything  against  dragon  hall.  it  was  that  she  was  nineteen  and  wanted  to  keep  working  at  her  job.  she  was  happy  where  she  was,  and  she  didn't  like  that  her  father  didn't  think  she  was  good  enough.  she  always  got  that  feeling  from  him,  though.  ❝  i  just  think  that  it's  stupid  to  go  back  to  school  now  that  i've  graduated  just  because  my  father  is  unhappy  with  the  way  i  turned  out.  ❞  she  knew  it  was  common  on  the  isle  for  parents  to  be  unhappy  with  the  way  their  kids  turned  out.  and  vice  versa,  the  kids  weren't  always  happy  with  the  parents  they  got.  but  gemma  had  a  loving  mother,  and  she'd  always  hoped  that  her  father  would  finally,  one  day,  show  her  the  same  type  of  affection.

if you’re in gemma’s circle, you’ve probably been kissed on the head by her. a lot. it’s her favorite form of showing affection. gil and the gastons are the ones that get it the most, but harry, and by extension, cj and harriet, are not immune to the forehead smooches.

i totally disappeared here. ive had family in town and then i went to knoxville and now im going to be visiting my best friend and staying socially distanced and covid-conscious while flying is fucking exhausting so i’ll probs just be back when i get home from my trip.
