Male passengers in Women compartments in Metro rail

Some men forcefully enter the women's compartment on the Dhaka Metro Rail. I am not in favor of physical punishment. If I were, I would say to cut off their machine. If they’re so eager to roam around with women in compartments reserved for them, why do they even need machine?

Another thing - I support equal rights for men and women. Since the first compartment of the train is reserved exclusively for women, the very last compartment should be reserved exclusively for men. The middle compartments will be accessible to all passengers, regardless of gender. The same should apply to buses. If the five seats near the driver are reserved for women, then the five seats at the very back of the bus should be reserved only for men. The middle seats will be accessible to all passengers, regardless of gender.

আরেকটা বিষয়, আমি নারী-পুরুষের সমান অধিকারের পক্ষপাতী। যেহেতু রেলগাড়ির প্রথম বগি শুধুমাত্র নারীর জন্য নির্ধারিত, তাই সবার শেষের বগি শুধুমাত্র পুরুষের জন্য নির্ধারিত হওয়া উচিৎ। মাঝের বগিগুলো লিঙ্গ নির্বিশেষে সকল যাত্রীর জন্য উম্মুক্ত হবে। বাসেও তাই। ড্রাইভারের কাছের পাঁচটি সিট যদি নারীর জন্য সংরক্ষিত হয়, তাহলে বাসের সবার পিছনের পাঁচটি সিট শুধু পুরুষের জন্য সংরক্ষিত হওয়া উচিৎ। মাঝের সিটগুলো লিঙ্গ নির্বিশেষে সকল যাত্রীর জন্য উম্মুক্ত হবে।

এক ছাত্রীর নকল করার ভিডিও একটা চ্যানেল শেয়ার করল দেখলাম। অবাক করার মত বিষয়, আমার মত চার/পাঁচ জন বাদে সবাই নকলের পক্ষপাতী। আমার তো ধারনা ছিল, এখন মেধার জয় জয়কার চলছে। এরাই এক সময় বিভিন্ন জায়গায় সরকারি বা বেসরকারি চাকুরী করবে।

নকল সমাধানে ৩টা উপায় এদের জন্য নেয়া যেতে পারেঃ

১. আভ্যন্তরীণ পরীক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান নিক, তবে মেইন পরীক্ষা ক্যান্টনমেন্টের ভিতরে সামরিক তত্ত্বাবধানে হোক। প্রায় সবাই যেহেতু সেনাবাহিনীকে ভালবাসে, সবাই নিশ্চয়ই খুশি হবে। সেনা অডিটোরিয়ামে ফ্লোরে বসে পরীক্ষা দিবে। কোন টেবিল চেয়ার থাকবে না।

২. ফ্লোরে অ্যান্টি-গ্রাফিটি কোটিং ব্যবহার করা হবে। এতে পেন, পেন্সিল বা মার্কার দিয়ে কিছু লিখে রাখা যাবে না। কেউ গোপনে ফ্লোরে কিছু লিখলেও সেটা ধরে না বা সহজেই মুছে যায়। পরীক্ষার ঠিক পূর্ব মূহুর্তে পানিতে ভিজানো মপ দিয়ে ডলা দিলেই সব দাগ মুছে যাবে।

৩. ছেলেদেরকে আন্ডারওয়্যার ও মেয়েদের বিকিনি পরিধান করে পরীক্ষা দিতে হবে। অবশ্যই ছেলেদের এক অডিটোরিয়ামে আর মেয়েদের ভিন্ন অডিটোরিয়ামে বসতে হবে, যেহেতু পর্দার একটা বিষয় আছে।

উন্নত রাষ্ট্রে অবশ্যই অপরাধ হয়, তা ১% মানুষ করে, আর ৯৯% ভালো মানুষকে সাথে নিয়ে পুলিশ বা অন্য আইন-প্রয়োগকারী কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ তা প্রতিহত করে। কিন্তু যে সমাজব্যবস্থায় ৯৯% মানুষ অপরাধের সমর্থক, আর ১% মানুষ ভালো - সেখানে বিশেষ ব্যবস্থা দরকার।

পরীক্ষায় নকল এক ধরনের চুরি। বাংলাদেশের ৯৯% মুসলমান যে রকম ইসলামী শরিয়াহর সমর্থক, এই নকলবাজদের জন্য চুরির শাস্তি প্রয়োগ করলে প্রায় প্রত্যেকের হাত কনুই থেকে কেটে ফেলতে হবে। এত ভয়ংকর শাস্তি দিতে নাই চাইলে আমার প্রস্তাবিত ৩টি পদ্ধতি ছাড়া রাস্তা নাই।

One of my closest friends from my college life was Ashraful Islam Isha. He passed away today, on 21 March 2025, due to blood cancer. He had also lived in Rupnagar for a long time and used to visit our house regularly. However, towards the end, our contact had decreased. He passed away in the holy month of Ramadan. May Allah grant peace to his soul.

আমার ইন্টারমিডিয়েট লাইফের সবচেয়ে ঘনিষ্ঠ বন্ধুদের একজন আশরাফুল ইসলাম ঈসা। সে আজ, ২১ মার্চ ২০২৫, ব্লাড ক‌্যান্সা‌রে আক্রান্ত হ‌য়ে মৃত্যুবরন করেছে। সে রূপনগরেও ছিল দীর্ঘদিন, আর আমাদের বাসায় নিয়মিত যাতায়াত ছিল। শেষের দিকে যদিও যোগাযোগ কমে গিয়েছিল। পবিত্র রমজান মাসে তার মৃত্যু হল। আল্লাহ তার আত্মার শান্তি দিক।

Today marks a week since I got a fever. On March 8, on the third death anniversary of my father, I visited my father's grave in Azimpur and while returning by Metro, I was standing directly under the air conditioner vent. There was no way to move due to the extreme crowd. The fever started at night. For the past week, when I wake up in the morning, my temperature is 103 degrees; from afternoon to midnight, it drops to 99 degrees, and from midnight until I go to bed, it rises to 101 degrees. Of course, I am doing all my activities, and it seems normal from the outside. Others only notice it when they shake my hand.

This air conditioner-related fever is nothing new in my life. I have had this type of fever 5 times before in my life. Each time I had a fever for 15 days. Usually, if I am directly under the air conditioner vent, or even if I am far away but the AC filter has accumulated a lot of dirt, I get this problem. There is no specific treatment for it. It is a kind of cold-induced allergy. I am also allergic to food. Eating beef, cow milk, ice cream, duck meat, hilsa fish, rui fish, shrimp, eggplant, okra, pumpkin, etc., can also cause fever - but it lasts only for 5 days. And if I am exposed to dust, the fever usually lasts for 1 day.

Anyway, since this fever started on March 8, it is expected to end on March 23.

আজকে আমার জ্বরের এক সপ্তাহ হইল। মার্চের ৮ তারিখে আব্বার তৃতীয় মৃত্যুবার্ষিকীতে আজিমপুরে আব্বার কবর জিয়ারত করে, মেট্রোরেলে ফেরার সময় সরাসরি এয়ার কন্ডিশনারের নিচে দাঁড়ানো ছিলাম। অস্বাভাবিক ভিড়ের জন্য সরে যাবার উপায় ছিল না। রাতের বেলাই জ্বর আসলো। গত এক সপ্তাহ ধরে, যখন আমি সকালে ঘুম থেকে উঠি, আমার তাপমাত্রা ১০৩ ডিগ্রি থাকে; বিকেল থেকে মধ্যরাত পর্যন্ত, এটি ৯৯ ডিগ্রিতে নেমে আসে, এবং মধ্যরাত থেকে আমি ঘুমাতে যাওয়ার আগে পর্যন্ত, এটি ১০১ ডিগ্রিতে বেড়ে যায়। আমার অবশ্য সব কার্যক্রম চলছে, বাইরে থেকে দেখলে স্বাভাবিক মনে হয়। কেউ হ্যান্ডশেক করলে শুধু টের পায়।

আমার জীবনে এই এয়ার কন্ডিশনার জনিত জ্বর নতুন কিছু না। সারাজীবনে এর আগে মোট ৫ বার এই ধরনের জ্বর আসছে। প্রতিবারে ১৫ দিন জ্বর ছিল। সাধারণত এয়ার কন্ডিশনারের সরাসরি নিচে থাকলে, অথবা দূরে থাকলেও যদি এসি ফিল্টারে প্রচুর ময়লা জমা থাকে, তখন আমার এই সমস্যা হয়। এটার আলাদা কোন চিকিৎসা নাই। এটা এক ধরনের কোল্ড এলার্জি। আমার খাবারেও এলার্জি আ��ে। গরুর মাংস ও দুধ, আইসক্রিম, হাঁসের মাংস, ইলিশ মাছ, রুই মাছ, চিংড়ি, বেগুন, ঢেঁড়স, কুমড়ো ইত্যাদি খেলেও জ্বর আসে - তবে ৫ দিনের জন্য। আর ধুলাবালির মধ্য থাকলে জ্বরের মেয়াদ সাধারণত ১ দিন।

যাই হোক, এই জ্বর যেহেতু মার্চের ৮ তারিখে শুরু, শেষ হবে মার্চের ২৩ তারিখে।

The Government of Bangladesh has recently decided to involve ordinary civilians to assist the police through a new initiative called the "Auxiliary Force." Members of this Auxiliary Force will have the same authority and protection as the police. However, if they are recruited without adequate training, then the situation will be catastrophic. Let’s discuss some examples:

🔴 The police cannot enter anyone’s home without a court-issued search warrant. 🔴 The right to question someone about their source of income generally belongs to National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh Bank, and the Anti-Corruption Commission. The police do not have the authority to investigate this unless there is a specific case filed. 🔴 If a building violates RAJUK regulations (e.g., constructing seven floors instead of the permitted six), the enforcement of the law is the responsibility of RAJUK magistrates, not the police alone. 🔴 In matters of land disputes, the final authority lies with the civil court. The police can only take action if ordered by the court. 🔴 A boy growing long hair or a girl not covering herself with a scarf is a personal choice. Neither the police nor any government agency in Bangladesh has the right to interfere in such matters. 🔴 The police can arrest someone from a crime scene if caught in the act, or if the person is an accused with an arrest warrant in a case. Random arrests without legal grounds are not permitted.

The police are well aware of these legal limitations. The army also has a basic understanding since the commanding officer in the army is usually a responsible individual holding the rank of Captain or Major. The real question is: Will members of this Auxiliary Force be clearly trained about their limitations? If proper training is not provided, harder days are ahead.

বাংলাদেশ সরকার সম্প্রতি পুলিশকে সহায়তা করার জন্য "অক্সিলারি ফোর্স" নামে একটি নতুন উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে সাধারণ নাগরিকদের সম্পৃক্ত করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। এই অক্সিলারি ফোর্সের সদস্যদের ক্ষমতা ও প্রটেকশন হুবহু পুলিশের মতই হবে। যদি পর্যাপ্ত ট্রেনিং না দিয়ে তাদের নিয়োগ দেয়া হয়, তবে পরিস্থিতি হবে ভয়াবহ। কিছু উদাহরণ আলোচনা করা যাকঃ

🔴 পুলিশ কখনো কারো বাড়িতে আদালত কর্তৃক ইস্যুকৃত সার্চ ওয়ারেন্ট ছাড়া প্রবেশ করতে পারে না। 🔴 কার আয়ের উৎস কি সেটা সম্পর্কে প্রশ্ন করার অধিকার সাধারণত জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ড, বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক, দুর্নীতি দমন কমিশন ইত্যাদির। পুলিশ এই ব্যাপারে প্রশ্ন করবে না। নির্দিষ্ট মামলা দায়ের না হওয়া পর্যন্ত পুলিশের এটি তদন্ত করার ক্ষমতা নেই। 🔴 যদি কোনও ভবন রাজউকের নিয়ম লঙ্ঘন করে (যেমন, অনুমোদিত ছয় তলার পরিবর্তে সাত তলা নির্মাণ), তাহলে আইন প্রয়োগের দায়িত্ব রাজউক ম্যাজিস্ট্রেটদের, একা পুলিশের নয়। 🔴 জমি জমার বিষয়ে চূড়ান্ত ক্ষমতা দেওয়ানি আদালতের। পুলিশ শুধুমাত্র আদালতের নির্দেশ পেলে অ্যাকশনে যাবে। 🔴 কোন ছেলে মাথার চুল লম্বা করেছে, কোন মেয়ে বুকের উপর ওড়না দেয় না - এটা যার যার ব্যাক্তিগত বিষয়। এই বিষয়ে পুলিশ বা বাংলাদেশ সরকারের কোন এজেন্সির কথা বলার কোন রাইটই নাই। 🔴 তাৎক্ষনিক অপরাধের পর ঘটনাস্থল থেকে, বা মামলার পরোয়ানাভুক্ত আসামি হলে পুলিশ গ্রেফতার করতে পারে। খেয়ালখুশী মত কাউকে গ্রেফতার করা যায় না।

পুলিশ এই আইনি সীমাবদ্ধতা সম্পর্কে ভালোভাবেই অবগত। সেনাবাহিনী মোটামুটি জানে, যেহেতু সেনাবাহিনীর কমান্ডিং অফিসার সাধারণত ক্যাপ্টেন বা মেজর পদমর্যাদার দায়িত্বশীল কেউ হন। আসল প্রশ্ন হইল, এই অক্সিলারি ফোর্সের সদস্যদের তাদের সীমাবদ্ধতাগুলো পরিষ্কারভাবে জানানো হবে কি? ট্রেনিং যদি সঠিক না হয়, তবে সামনে ভয়াবহ দিন আসতেছে।

Mr. Julhas has successfully built an aircraft entirely through his own initiative and effort. While many people praise him for this achievement, but a certain group is consumed with jealousy. In Bangladesh, billions of takas are wasted in the name of research, and there is no transparency or accountability regarding how the allocated funds are spent. Mr. Julhas did not build his aircraft with their father's money, so why are they so bothered? There are many people of Mr. Julhas's age who:

🔴 Get addicted to drugs, 🔴 Join teenage gangs and create chaos, 🔴 Engage in theft and robbery, 🔴 Strap bombs to their chests and carry out suicide attacks, 🔴 Harass women and grope them in public transport, 🔴 Sell adulterated and unsafe products in markets.

He did none of these things. Yes, he might have gained some ideas from YouTube, but considering his financial struggles, limited education, and young age, the fact that he built an aircraft using a water pump and bicycle wheels, without access to a proper runway, and actually made it fly - he is undoubtedly courageous.

Many students pursue education with the mentality of "just admit into any subject, get the certificate, and that’s enough." Compared to them, individuals who pursue their interests and achieve something without institutional or governmental support should be identified and prioritized.

The administration of the 'Aviation and Aerospace University' of Lalmonirhat should offer him a scholarship, allowing him to continue his education. He should also receive a monthly stipend until he completes his studies.

তিনি তার কিছুই করেন নি। ইউটিউবে উনি ধারনা পেতেই পারেন। কিন্তু আর্থিকভাবে অসচ্ছল, অল্পশিক্ষিত, অল্পবয়সী একজন মানুষ যেভাবে কোন স্ট্যান্ডার্ড রানওয়ে ছাড়াই পানির পাম্প আর সাইকেলের চাকা দিয়ে বিমান তৈরি করে আকাশে উড়তে পেরেছেন - তিনি অবশ্যই দুঃসাহসী।

When parents marry off their underage daughters, it is not considered wrong, but when the daughter chooses her own partner and elopes, it is seen as a major issue? According to UNICEF data from 2018, between 1998 and 2007, more than 50% of girls in countries like Niger, Chad, Mali, Bangladesh, Guinea, Central African Republic, Mozambique, and Nepal were married off as children.

My friend Farhad is the organizer of the open-air concert at Mirpur 13 for Mirpur Freedom Day. He is incredibly intelligent. Among my Mirpur 13 friend circle, he is the only one I stayed in touch with. Recently, out of the two people who have managed to solve my "Result is 15" game so far, Farhad was the first.

Attending the open-air concert at Mirpur 13 for Mirpur Freedom Day, I reunited with many childhood friends - after 24 years. The last time I saw all the friends from this post was back in 2001. In these 24 years, I have aged the most. 90% of my hair has turned white.

মিরপুর ১৩ নাম্বারে মিরপুর মুক্ত দিবস উপলক্ষে ওপেন এয়ার কনসার্ট হবে মর্মে ছোটবেলার বন্ধু ফরহাদ মেসেঞ্জারে জানিয়েছিল। আসার পর দেখলাম, এটা বি.এন.পি -র পরোক্ষ সহযোগিতায় হচ্ছে। আমার বন্ধু ফরহাদ ইভেন্ট অর্গানাইজার। যাই হোক, কিছুক্ষণ দেখলাম। তবে সবচেয়ে অদ্ভুদ হল, ব্যানারে লেখা হয়েছে, "মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ও বৈষম্য বিরোধী ছাত্র জনতা আন্দোলন"। কথাটার অর্থ কি? "মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ও বৈষম্য" এই দুয়ের বিরুদ্ধে ছাত্র জনতার আন্দোলন? প্রসঙ্গ নিয়ে ফরহাদকে বলার সময় জনৈক বাবু ভাই উপস্থিত হলেন, আর আফসোস করলেন, কারন এখন তার আর সংশোধনের রাস্তা নাই।

Farhad, my childhood friend, had informed me via Messenger that an open-air concert would be held at Mirpur 13 in celebration of Mirpur Freedom Day. When I arrived, I noticed that the event was being indirectly supported by the BNP. My friend Farhad was the event organizer. Anyway, I watched for a while. But the most bizarre thing was that the banner text: "Liberation War and Anti-Discrimination Student-Public Movement." What does that even mean? A student-public movement against both the Liberation War and Discrimination? As I was about to discuss the matter with Farhad, someone named Babu Bhai appeared and expressed his regret, as there was no way to correct it anymore.
