I’ve never seen anyone discuss this but in season 5, Mosley Lane, that episode is devastating for the after effects. (Spoiler below)
Everyone always brings up “he was alive yesterday “ and yeah that’s a gut punch but…can you imagine being Charlie’s father?
Like, your son goes missing and isn’t found in the 24 hour window. They search for his body and it’s never found. You’re devastated, obviously, but you try to move on. Your wife can’t though - and when you finally get her promise to put the horror behind you - she claims she saw your missing son as a 13 year old. That he’s still alive. Finally after 5 years of trying with and for her, it’s the final straw and you divorce her because she’s so stuck on your missing son. You remarry and then obtain full custody of your daughter to get her away from the woman you’ve now deemed as crazy for holding on to the past.
Only for her to be right. Only for her to have actually seen your son, alive and in person. Only for her to get the FBI to believe her when you never did, and her faith gives closure to 8 different families. Including your own - because your son is alive and is coming home - to her.
Imagine the conversation of having to tell your son you divorced his mother because she couldn’t move on from finding him - that he gave up on ever finding him alive. Imagine having to tell Charlie that his own father gave up on him.
I don’t know man, just thinking about the repercussions from that episode and how devastating that is.

“Noah is such a good scene partner. My relationship with him is very similar to Langdon’s relationship with Robby. [...] Once we got to that scene, I was scared of it. I knew it was coming for 10 episodes, and then we got there, and it was so much fun to dance with the master like that. [...] It’s the closest thing you are going to get to a breakup scene on The Pitt.” — Patrick Ball
