“ excuse me ? ” confusion laces emilia’s tone as she looks at mia, brows furrowing in question at the girl’s harsh words. “ you literally invited me over, mia. after last night, you told me to come back today so we could hang out again. what changed in a few hours ? ” having done nothing to deserve what’s being said to her, emilia can’t help but grow even more upset as the seconds tick by, arms crossing over her chest defensively. “ why does it matter if people see me ? that makes no sense.. this makes no sense. why is bryson even coming over ? i thought you two were finished.. ” given the fact that the two girls have been hooking up recently, she just assumed mia had broken up with bryson. the realization that she hasn’t makes emilia’s heart ache, especially on top of the way mia’s speaking to her – like she’s nothing. “ seriously, what’s going on with you ? ”

“ last night was a mistake. you’re a mistake, ” & she’d never said something so confidently that was so untrue. this was becoming a routine of theirs – mia would get drunk & beg emilia to come over, they would have sex & the very next day mia would condemn emilia for so much as trying to speak to her. it was exhausting for the both of them, but she couldn’t stop. “ i don’t want anyone getting the wrong idea – but it seems like someone already has, ” & she narrows her eyes with all the hatred she longs to feel for the other girl. “ did you really think i’d break up with my boyfriend for you ? don’t be stupid, ” mia can tell she’s hurting emilia’s feelings, but she doesn’t allow that to stop her, twisting the knife in deeper with each remark. “ nothing is going on with me, you psycho. are you deaf ? go. away. ”

“ you’re pathetic, you know that? ” mia spat, her words much more certain than her heart was. seeing the crestfallen look on emilia’s face was enough to make mia regret her harsh sentiments, but she couldn’t take them back. she wouldn’t. she’d promised herself she would stop whatever it was she had with the other girl & this time she intended on following through with it. she wasn’t gay, wasn’t bi, wasn’t anything other than straight & messing around with emilia was nothing but a harmless experiment - one that needed to end. “ showing up to my room where people can see you after i told you to leave me the fuck alone. bryson’s going to be on his way over in a little & unless you want to watch, i suggest you leave, ” she bluffed. she brought bryson around for appearances & invited him over just enough to keep him satisfied - anything more was too much for mia.
