What do Flamenco Dancers Wear?
Flamenco, beyond its music and traditions, has a very recognized aesthetic. It is practically an “ambassador” of Spanish culture all over the world. The general style of flamenco clothing has remained the same (loyal to its roots), but the dress code had been changing and expanding, becoming more ornate as the tradition evolves.
let's talk a little about the general style of the female flamenco dancers. Their outfits are of an elaborated nature, with lots of red and black, polka dots and many different materials (though cotton and lace are the most common).
1. Bata de Cola is the most extravagant costume. It has an extremely long tail, full of ruffles. It is mostly used to move and accentuate the rhythm of music, but it’s also heavy and difficult to handle, so only the experienced dancers use it.
2. Traje de Flamenca, which is similar to the Bata de Cola but with a shorter length. It reaches the ankles and it usually has ruffles on the sleeves as well as the thighs. It can come in polka dots or solid colors.
3. Blouses. It has many forms. Different sleeve lengths, ruffles, and necklines. They are very comfortable for practising.
4. Skirts. They are divided into two types: practice and performances. Performance skirts are multilayered whereas the ones for practice have one single layer.

Male dancers have fewer costume options. The traditional costume consists of a white, long-sleeved shirt accompanied by a short black jacket or a vest. The trousers are black and tight-fitting. Some variations have been added through the years (polka dot shirts, for example), but the male costume maintains the same base: shirts, vests, and trousers. They can also use scarfs or Cordoba hats.

The Best Ballet Shoes for You
Everyone knows what Pointe shoes (ballet shoes in popular slang) are and how they look. They are pink, they have ribbons and elastics. But that is not all. There are different materials, brands, soles and so on. First, there are the shoe parts:
Drawstrings (to tighten the shoes).
Elastics (to secure the fit).
Ribbons (to tie around the ankle and securing the shoe).
Sole. Beginners use a complete sole and then, advance to a split one.
Box. A hard box that covers the toes.
Platform. This is the part that allows the dancers to go en pointe.
Vamp. It encases the box and the platform.
Insole or Shank. It serves as a stiff sole.
Throat (the part where the shoe opens).
Now that we know the shoe, we can compare the different fabrics. We have leather, which is the most expensive one. It is the most durable, and the best one to improve the strength of the foot in young dancers. Canvas is less expensive than leather, are easier to break in and they are not as hard to wash since they can be put in the wash. They don’t last as much as the leather ones. Satin is the most popular one. They are the more aesthetically pleasing as they flatter the line of the foot. They wear out very quickly.
Leather is mostly for full soles, to train young dancers. Canvas is commonly used on split soles to help the dancer emphasize arches and satin is mostly used for performances.
The split sole allows more flexibility and emphasizes the technique, hence why they are used by experienced dancers (especially on performances), as they have lesser arch support. The full sole is more resistant, so they build foot muscles and ankle strength. They can hide bad technique though, such as clawed toes.
This is how a split sole pointe shoe looks like:

With this information, you can choose the right shoe for you, based on your needs. There are many brands which you can choose from, the most popular being Bloch, Capezio, Grishko, Gaynor Minden, Sansha and so on.

Must Ballet Gifts For Beginners
The motor skill development is infinitely enhanced by Tchaikovsky and Bach, that young imaginations benefit immensely from exploring the enchanted worlds of swans and sugar plums, and that twirling should be a fundamental part of any childhood. If your kids are new to ballet and thinking about taking classes, please read this ballet gifting list.
1.Hair Accessories
Please put kids' hair up and off their faces with hair accessories like hair nets, pins, elastics, bun builder and headband. Perfect for keeping dancers' hair out of their eyes during dance lessons. A ponytail might be okay unless it's very long, it will flop over or whip in little ballerinas' faces during class, guaranteed.
2.Ballet Shoes
Of course, every little ballet dancer has to have a little pink pair of ballet shoes. We like these the best. They stay on well, last a long time and are comfy. The bar-tacked elastic drawstring is convenient for children.

3.The Perfect Leotards
Leotards help the ballet teacher to check kids' form and posture and correct it whenever required. Because the ballet stance and ballet posture is the foundation of learning ballet. Choose fabrics designed to absorb and wick away perspiration. At the same time, a snap crotch helps little dancers get completely undressed quickly when they need to go to the bathroom before, during, or after dance class.

4.Tutu Skirts
Kids would be ecstatic even though they wore Tutu Skirts every day, little girls love the fluffy, taffeta, ruffly stuff, so here you go girls.

5.Dance Tights
You need to buy durable and affordable dance tights to get beautiful ballerina legs. Prepare it for cute little Swans. These tights can be worn as footless or footed tights due to the heel hole in the sole.
6.Ballerina Handbags
Little girls love theirs so much that it's frayed and torn from use. They will take it everywhere and rock it over the shoulder like a messenger bag.

7.Tickets for The Nutcracker and Swan Lake
The Nutcracker and Swan Lake are honored as classic ballets. To set up a dance stage in the living room and play these gorgeous symphonies and the girls go wild.
8.Ballerina Books
Here are a few we recommend. Some of them are funny stories, while others introduce little dancers to the basics of this classic art form. Ballerina! Tallulah's Tutu, Max, Brontorina, Miss Lina's Ballerinas, Flora, and the Flamingo, Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig, Hilda Must Be Dancing, Dogs Don't Do Ballet.
