I think it's interesting, so let's dive into it ! I feel like the reason why an original character was created will impact greatly how people feel about said-character being drawn by other people. Of course, I'm only talking about general tendencies, there are many exceptions to every statement. And I'm basing this on my own assumptions, without any research : I might be very wrong. 1) Is that OC a representation of the artist themselves ? Like a fursona or a persona ? If yes, being drawn by a someone might be a bit awkward; even more so if it's by a complete stranger ! 2) Is that OC one of many characters in a project ? Then, having fan-arts of them is a sign that this character is well-liked by the project's current audience, which is good ! Plus, it means having art of these characters without having to draw them/pay someone for it ! ;) I am personally always thrilled ! 3) Is that Oc one that was created to showcase designing skills ? A fan-art could be proof that this design is pleasing enough to inspire other people : it's a compliment on your skills ! At the same time, I'm not very attached to these kind of OCs, so I would not care as much. 4) Is that OC a character for which a project is being created ? Sometimes, artists have this one OC they keep working on for years, designing projects around the OC. I can't really figure this one out, because for some, this character is deeply personal(1), but others are simply making a project, starting with the character(2), or showing their skills (3). 5) Is the OC a mascot/a brand's face ? This one is tricky too because it might feel like you are impersonating a brand with unofficial art. It can also be part of the artist's identity (1). Yet, at the same time, it can be just a proof that the brand is well-liked by its target audience...? 6) Is that OC for sale ? Sometimes, people design OCs to sell them : in that case, a fanart might be seen like an attempt to use that design without paying for it. Or it can be seen as free advertisement, which is tricky, because that's good in theory, but they don't know if the buyer would like that ! 7) Characters created for roleplay/DND/tiny personal projects are also hard to figure out : were they created just to have something to play, are they a self-insert of their creator, are they a character that they keep playing with for years, ...? Once again, it is only my speculations. But I think it is an interesting subject !

For this poll, assume that the character is correctly attributed to you, and the art in and of itself is not objectionable– i.e. it's tame/clean (or no more sexualized, gory, political, etc. than your own work involving that OC). This is just about the act of someone making art of your OC without your express permission.

Outfit prompts!

For Helios - 🌓 Alignment shift OR 🛏️Sleepwear (I somehow have a feeling that he either a) sleeps completely naked or b) sleeps in full armour and clutching his sword)

Your are absolutely right for the sleepwear 🛌 !

He will sleep in full armor when he think an attack might be coming, and completely naked when he is relaxed enough for it -especially after sex. He'll keep his sword nearby in both cases. He has too many enemies to let down his guard completely.

He also have a fondness for pricey, luxurious clothing items, and for anything with a touch of exoticism, so he does have a few istiks pieces of clothing, including sleepwears, but he rarely wear them - too aware that his standing among kin is already fragile. ( As for the alignment shift 🌓, it would very, very much depend on what provoked this change of alignment ! :p A thrall tunic, for example, would not be out of the question... But then, is it really a change of alignment if his mind is at the mercy of someone else...?)

You are right : silver lines on your skin is about an illithid's scars, in a way ! The Prince of the Comet, Orpheus is freed earlier. Voss and his honor guards at his side, the Emperor captured. They do not kill him yet because he know much about the Elder Brain they will need to stop.

Orpheus, bored and curious about this ghaik who is acting against his own people, play and explore Emperor's body, inviting Voss to cut patterns on the Emperor's skin, to decorate him with his own blood. "I though you liked silver. The color of your sword, kith'rak."

The monsters they made of us are two stories where Blurg and Omeluum met in very different circumstances due to one of them not leaving the colony/tribe they were born into. In the tribe version of the story, it is Omeluum who get captured by Blurg's tribe. After another successful raid, Blurg is offered, without a chance to refuse, a slave to reward his efforts. The hobgoblin is too gentle and compassionate for his peers, and thus, this gift is punishment - and a test. He will have to prove his cruelty and ruthlessness by taking this illithid in front of the whole tribe. Neither of them want to be here, but Blurg knows he can not afford to fail to prove himself.

This can also be such a fun writing prompt ; I love it ! Here are a few of my villains : AITA for using nontraditional but efficient methods to get rid of my competitors in a highly competitive work environment ? Helios

AITA for not disclosing an information that was irrelevant at the time, but became the cause of a massive break of security because of someone else failure to follow protocol ? Abster'noth

AITA for prioritizing solving a time-sensible task I previously failed, when resources might be best spent on other, less time-sensitive but more important, tasks ? Afkira The funniest thing about this writing exercise is that : all of these villains torture and kill on the regular, allies like enemies, but this is not something that they would ever question. (Or it is phrased in a mundane way ; like Helios' "nontraditional" methods.) I really like this writing prompt because I like to write villains who believe they are right !

if you're trying to get into the head of your story's antagonist, try writing an "Am I the Asshole" reddit post from their perspective, explaining their problems and their plans for solving them. Let the voice and logic come through.

Name: Helios

Age: More than fifty in the material plane ; centuries on the astral plane

Gender: Male

Sexual orientation: Gender is not a problem for him (and saying more would be spoilery for... reasons.)

Description: Tall, lean and dry as githyanki usually are, Helios has a rusty-colored skin, covered in black spots, wrinkled and scarred after many years and many fights ; similarly, his long black hair are strayed with grey. His good-eye is of a gorgeous shade of red ; the other has been cut through by an illithid, the scar an impressive sight. He is often wearing a finely crafted githyanki armor, the rubies complimenting perfectly his eye.

Pros:

Creative : especially when it come to torturing your enemies

Rich : can cover you in gold and jewells ; said riches might be covered in blood

Enthusiastic : in bed or in torture chambers! Whatever you prefer!

Flexible : like a very diverse range of sex positions and situations. Whether you are into bondage, toys, temperature play, getting dominated or dominating him, he will be willing ! And he has a vast collection of toys and tools that can be repurposed...

Cons:

Heavy past : might have killed and/or tortured people you know

Fickle mind : might loose interest in you and kill you

Controlling : might cut your legs to stop you from running away

Possessive : might be under the impression that you are his and that you are certainly not allowed to wander outside your cell room without his permission

Sexually ? Convincing him to indulge once won't be so hard if you happen to be his type. Convincing him to let you live afterward might be more difficult. Romantically ? You will need a very solid strategy to seduce him without dying, but once it is done, you will be able to enjoy a very devoted, very possessive, very controlling, and very, very abusive githyanki boyfriend. Congratulation...?

The hardest part is to choose a favorite OC ! :,D I love them all so much ! (So I didn't choose ! :p) Try'st and Liir would smash a 🍉 if they heard of it from istiks ! They both can't believe it's not an activity done in githyanki creche, it's so much fun and a show of strength ! Maris would collect pretty 🐚🦪 and 🌺🌷🌻🌼🌹 ! He loves pretty things, and used to collect flowers in secret from his varsh. But he's never been to the beach, so, he would find seashells amazing ! Any of my illithid would desperately seek shadows and cold. They were not made for the ☀ nor the 🏖! You might find them all cuddled together under the same patch of shadow, looking absolutely miserable. Ptaris would try to convince the Professor Aristide to come see the 🦀🦐🐟🐠🐡🦈 he found ! And Ökyü would probably make sure everyone has everything they need, providing 🥗🥛 and 🧴⛱🕶, to make sure no one is burning under the sun ! --- Helios, hopefully not with them all, would order people around to bring him 🍸🍹 and fan him.

One of my characters drawn by the wonderful @corvitine ! Helios is a dangerous, sadistic, cruel kith'rak with a fascination for ghaiks... Instead of killing them on sight, which he is supposed to do, he enjoy capturing them, torturing them and utterly breaking them. Of course, he has no qualms doing that against fellow githyankis either, if they stand on his way or if they dare to anger his Queen ! Some of his known past victims are Xatrov (one of my characters) and Dahlia (@tunes-and-tentacles's character), though they both survived their encounter with him, contrarily to many others. Who knows who might be his next victim ? Maybe your character...?
