Like/reblog if you like my art
I’m trying to prove a point, I was told by my father that “I’m not an artist” and that my art is weird etc. I’m doing a series of paintings like this and he just thinks it’s not what any “professional artist” would do. Whatever the heck that is lol. I’m 20 years old and am 2 years away from getting my Bachelors in the Fine Arts, so help me prove a point that I’m not wasting my time and I am in fact an artist, just like anyone who paints, draws, etc

I keep forgetting there is a culture of "witches" who don't actually believe In sorcery at all, and every time I run into it, it throws me for a loop. "magic only works to boost mundane effort and does nothing by itself" is exactly what I would say if I had been practicing an ineffectual system and needed to validate it.
Magic isn't that limited, you're just a longtime beginner who has become complacent because you chose to dig your heels in rather than learning from failure and putting together an efficacious system.
Spells fail. It happens. But when it happens it's a failure. Failure should not become your baseline of capability even if you've been at it for years and haven't achieved results. Years practicing doesn't necessarily linearly correlate to ability level. I've been whittling since I was a kid. Can I whittle a masterwork sculpture? No. A whittler who has lived and breathed the art for six months of fervent practice, genuine desire, and dedicated study of different tools and techniques can easily out whittle me despite the fact that his first attempt was six months ago and mine was 20 years ago, because I haven't put forth the effort and dedicated myself adequately to that particular pursuit, not because the act of whittling itself will only ever be capable of producing shitty artifacts.
Bullshit in, bullshit out.
