Do you think Billy could've been redeemed in later seasons if they didn't kill him off
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: He would have really needed to put in the work to change in order for the characters to accept him and I don’t know if he would’ve been ready for that. I’ll be honest I’m not so sure if he would’ve changed (or that the characters would’ve forgiven him) but I guess there’s always that possibility.
🌶️: I think he would’ve. The reason I say yes is because I think the Duffers would’ve seen how a lot of people (despite the things he did) liked him or resonated with him, and would’ve given him a redemption arc. I think it would have been interesting to see how he fit into the group.

do you guys think its okay to love morally grey characters? people dont like billy for example and its valid but everyone has their own nuanced reason you know? im not someone who harass people or put people down just because they dont like what i like. i despise the harassment people do in fandoms, but liking fictional characters is okay even if they are evil cus in the end they are fictional. getting generalised because of some bad apples in the fandom sucks.
actually imo its just a circle; people zoom in on bad things the bad apples of the fandom and people attack them because of that and people get angry so the fandom retaliates with unflattering behaviour and then people cherrypick the bad behaviour and people attack them again and so on. its neverending
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: I think it depends on what is considered morally grey, to be honest. Sure, these characters are fictional, but a lot of their actions happen today to real people, (racism, abuse, etc.) At the end of the day, I personally don't care about what characters other people enjoy, as long as everyone acknowledges the problematic things their favorite character has done. I think for Billy in particular, a lot of people have tried defending his actions because of his upbringing. (From what I've seen and heard, at least. I'm not in the Billy fandom but I'm also not going to be rude to the people who connect with him in whatever way they do.) His upbringing is an explanation of his behavior, not an excuse. I think a lot more people would have accepted Billy, if he had made the proper amends, but he didn't get the chance to because he died. I personally don't consider him jumping in front of the monster to be making amends. In order for him to be redeemed, and for a lot more people to like him, I think he needed to first and foremost apologize to Lucas specifically. He would need to acknowledge his own problematic actions toward Lucas and Max and then actively work on fixing it. But he didn't. And that's why people don't think he was redeemed either. Because he died the same as he was when he lived. At the end of the day people are free to like what they like and hate what they hate. (Sorry for the tangent lol my brain does that when I have so much to say)
🌶️: Some of the best characters in television are evil, complex characters. I don't think anyone should be bullied for liking a character. I know I wouldn't want to receive hate for liking a character. I also think the general mindset of the online ST fandom is younger, so a lot of people aren't really...able or willing to engage in discourse and listen to different perspectives. What I'll say is London and I aren't huge Billy fans and we’re honest about that, but we can have appropriate, adult discussions about his character and accept different perspectives even if we don't agree :)

How did you spend Stranger Things day? I rewatched season one :)
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: I worked, unfortunately 😩 However I did scroll through Twitter to see all the photos that were posted. I especially loved all the throwback pictures.
🌶️: I also worked, but I convinced my husband to rewatch season 4 with me!! (His least favorite season for some odd reason.)

You keep saying “Eddie was an asshole in the show “ when he wasn’t 😂 sure, he could be a little “😐” or be a dick every now and then but you’re using the term so heavily like he was a pure asshole like Jason. Ratio dude
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: I never said he was always an asshole. I said he could be. I’ve also said he could be a jerk. Because he could be. Never once did I imply he was as bad as Jason. Why are we getting so technical over terminology???? Me saying he could be an asshole, and could be a jerk, isn’t wrong. You’re defending him to the wrong person, Anon.

As Eddie's huge fan, I can't describe how much I LOOOVE that he is an asshole in the book LOL I LOOOVE that he is not perfect or the idealised version of what people think. I LOOOVE that his dad is the way he is.
I still respect fanons with all my heart because people using their creativity is my jam, but I wish fanon makes him more of a dick LOL
I think very flawed characters are amazing. Also he was 18, teenagers are assholes. I love it.
Still the book is only semi-canon so people should just ignore if they don't like it.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: Not only is he an ass in the book but he’s also kind of an ass in the show so like it makes sense lmao not sure why people are pissy about that but I digress. People have pretty much admitted to making him into an OC so I love watching this chaos unfold to be quite honest 😂 I’m glad you’re respecting fanon because I’m finding it very hard to do that nowadays. Canon Eddie is incredibly flawed and that’s why I like him, not this completely different person he’s been turned into by “fans”. And yeah, telling ST fans to ignore something they don’t like is an impossible task lol.

London or Pepper, when it was revealed Henry/Vecna/One were all the same people, what was your reactions? Did you expect it?
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: I had no idea. It was a huge plot twist!
🌶️: ^^^ Same. I wish I could’ve described my dad’s face as well when he realized they were all the same person 😂

I've been loving the stuff coming out with the Eddie book.
Not because I've read it, but just watching the people that are freaking out because the book has made Eddie an asshole, and the way they're claiming it's so out of character. It's just did they even watch episode 1? he was a huge asshole for the majority of that episode.
Also the confirmation that Steve was never a bully, and wasn't even a bystander to bullying. It was so well known how much he *hated* bullying that the rest of the basketball team wouldn't bully others in front of him. I love this so much because a lot of the fandom make Steve into a cartoon villain type bully, where outside of maybe 2 scenes in season 1, there's nothing in the show that points to Steve being much of an asshole.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: I don’t feel bad at all lmao. Canon Eddie was a jerk and a hypocrite at times. Did he have some growth? I guess so sure. But even then, canon Eddie is ten times more fascinating than any version of fanon Eddie fans have created. In my opinion.
🌶️: And if I may chime in I love the confirmation that Steve was never this notorious bully. He wasn’t totally innocent either. He definitely was a bit of a jerk. But people make Steve out to be worse than he is, and people make Eddie out to be more innocent than he is.

Nah he’s MUCH better person in the show then in the book
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: Still a dick in the show but he’s bearable at least. Although I am shocked they made him into a bigger jerk in the book? Oh well. Whatever. I’d much rather read a book about characters who have already been in the show though for more than one season. I don’t need a book about a character who had 22 minutes of screen time 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hello!! Are either of you going to read Eddie's book, Flight of Icarus?
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: Eh. I doubt it. The only reason I would is so I could see how pissed off people are about their headcanons that were never going to be true lmao.
🌶️: I have no interest!! I’m sure the author did a nice job though :)

For London: Favorite thing about Lucas?
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: Aside from the fact that he's incredibly underrated, I love that he walks to the beat of his own drum and has the willingness to branch out and explore his interests even if other people don't like or understand them. He's a loyal friend but also loyal to himself.

okay but can we talk about the fact that ed*ie fans don’t actually like canon ed*ie
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿: It's becoming more and more apparent, Anon. And this is why I focus on canon. Fanon means shit to me. It's unimportant. The only version of Eddie that matters to me is canon Eddie. I try to enjoy canon Eddie for who he is. I don't feel the need to make up 238 headcanons and then get mad when none of them are true. (I won't be on Tumblr when his book drops either next week lmao because I can already tell what's going to happen)
🌶️: He's unfortunately become unrecognizable. Pretty much an original character at this point!
