YIPPEE!
Big update! I was able to get my laptop working so I can finally start actually making games! I’m gonna start with a couple point and click adventures because I’m still learning. But once those are done I’ll probably start on Cradles Rest! I’ll give updates on those as I get them done.

This is completely unrelated to games but I just found out that my dad (who I don’t speak to) has found a 5 day old baby raccoon and is now in the process of getting a permit to keep it. He’s bottle feeding it and its name is Petey Pablo. That is all.

Cradle’s Rest Update
Due to the fact that I don’t have any sort of program to work with, I have to (temporarily) stop working on Cradle’s Rest for a while. Up to this point I’ve been working on paper and unfortunately I don’t think there’s much left I can work on like that. So until I can get my hands on a program to plug what I have into, I won’t be able to do much. The Fairy Game is in the same boat, so I’m going to refrain from making any updates on it as well.
While this roadblock is definitely a bummer, I don’t want it to stop me from making games. So I’ve been looking into what programs are available to me and thinking about what I can do with them. And at the moment I think I’m gonna try making stuff with Twine. It seems fairly straightforward to use and I really only have to worry about the story. And given my experience with making games (which is none) it seems like a good place to start.
I really want to do something with Cradle’s Rest just so I can get it out of my head. So I’ve been playing around with the idea of a prequel that’s set in the same cave. I’ll try to do updates as I go along but given that it’s a text based game I don’t think I can say much without spoiling it.

Small Update- Cave Game Progress
Admittedly I haven’t done much, but I figured what I have done is better than nothing. Also, it’s been going more smoothly than I anticipated, so that’s good. Since Christmas I’ve worked on two things- the monsters and the music.
I had already started on the designs and mechanics for the monsters, but never really fleshed them out because honestly I did not really like what I came up with. I loved the concepts I came up with, but hated the way they were being executed. (I guess) So when I went back after Christmas to keep working on them, I expected to hit the same brick wall I had already been hitting. Thankfully I did not. Apparently I needed the break because most of the problems I was having are now solved. :)
I say ‘most’ because out of the 4 monsters, I still have 1 that’s giving me a lot of trouble. But this one has been giving me nothing but trouble since I started on him, so I’m not too tore up about it. Also, I want each monster to ‘change’ throughout the game, which means that each monster has 4 designs. I’ve got 3 of the ‘final’ and 2 of the ‘beginning’ designs done. I’ve probably got about 10 different sketches for the 4th monster (the troublemaker). I just can’t decide on what direction I want to go with him, so I’m going to (sorta) put him to the side for now. Hopefully finishing the other monsters will make him easier.
I’ve also figured out some more Lore about the monsters. They’ve got backstories now. Which they kinda already had but they have more now. So very good. Literally all they’re missing are names.
As for the music, I haven’t actually got anything of note done with it yet. I just started about a week ago. I’ve made tracks before, but only a couple and I was in middle school. So it’s definitely been a while. I’ve mostly been listening to tracks from other horror games to try and figure out what I want. The plan is to make a demo or two that gives off the ‘feel’ I want. And then use that to make background tracks for each area.
So that’s what I’ve got done. I want actually, ya know, show the designs for the monsters but I also want to wait until I’m completely done with them. Which I’m very close to doing for like 2 of them. So watch out for that I guess. See ya in 3 years or whenever I hop back on here. ;P

I’m Alive!
Got busy with my nephews birthday and then Christmas. So I wasn’t really able to post or work on anything other than presents. I didn’t get everything done unfortunately so I am STILL working on presents. But since I now have time I am doing work on the Cave Game too. As an apology for falling off the face of the Earth again, here’s the stuff I made for Christmas.

Been thinking about the fairy game again. Might make a post about it soon idk yet. I want to at least get the core mechanic ironed out first.

Devlog#3- Making the PCs
Figured I should talk some more about the PCs. There’s 4 of them, each suited for a different play style. They are the Survivalist, Spelunker, Rookie, and Geologist. (They don’t have actual names yet) I really want them to feel unique from each other, so I came up with some stuff to do just that. This is a list/explanation of some of that stuff.
The Size System
The size system determines where each character can go, their inventory size, and possibly their combat stats. (still playing around with that last one) There’s 3 sizes, small, large, and medium. Sizes are specific to each character and can’t be changed.
Large characters can’t fit through most small spaces/tunnels, which limits their maneuverability and forces the player to find alternate routes in order to progress through the caverns. They also can’t fit into most hiding places, forcing them to face the monsters head on. However, large characters have the biggest inventory, and are strong enough to carry heavy items indefinitely. As for (possible) combat stats…obviously high strength, probably low agility, maybe higher health?I’ve also thought about maybe making large characters’ hunger bar go down faster, but I’m really on the fence about that.
Medium characters can fit through most tunnels and hiding places, making them well suited for exploration. While their stats make them less suited for combat than a large character, it’s still a viable option. Their inventory is a good size, and they can carry heavy items for a while before dropping them. All in all, they’re more adaptable. They’ve got a lot of options available. Would probably make good starter characters.
Small characters can go anywhere. Period. There is not a single tunnel they can’t fit through. They’re great at stealth, but not so great at combat, forcing players to either hide or risk a sneak attack. They have the smallest inventory, and can’t carry heavy items for very long. But if I end up incorporating the hunger mechanic into the size system, their bar will run down the slowest.
Starting Skills/Items
These are just the skills and items each character has at the start of the game. The skills can be learned by every character. I’ve thought about making this a little customizable. Like how in Fear and Hunger you start out with different stuff based on what you did in the introduction. Speaking of skills and FAH, I’ve been playing with the idea of making certain ‘areas’ of the skill tree inaccessible depending on the PC. Still not sure about it though.
Exclusive Skills/Items/Knowledge
These are things that only one character has access to. Some examples I’ve come up with are a partial map, cave diving ability, and knowledge of weather forecast for the next week. I don’t know if I want each PC to have access to just one or if each PC has their own set and the player picks one during the introduction.

Character Portraits!!
Had the character portraits (sorta) done for a while now so I figured I might as well share them. They turned out better than I figured they would so I’m really happy with them. Might add some more detail in the future but that would be it. I’ve got some of the sprites done too but they’re definitely more placeholder than final product so I won’t be sharing them just yet. Anyways here’s what the playable characters look like.

Whoops
I know I said I was gonna make a more in depth post a few weeks ago but. I got distracted. Also decided to make my Halloween costume this year so that’s taking up some of my time now.

Update #2!!
I’ve got the playable characters designed and I’ve got some of sprites for them done. I also got one of the monsters designed and another one is in progress.
Sorry I haven’t been updating recently, I got sick (twice) and was otherwise pretty busy. But I have been working on the game. I’m gonna make an in-depth post about it later. I don’t know if I’ll have time today because it’s my moms birthday.

Not an update but I just thought of an idea for a different game so I’m putting it here so I don’t forget about it.
Classic rpg about a hero and his fairy sidekick, but you play as the fairy and have to guide the hero. Which is difficult cuz he’s kinda stupid.

Update!!
Just wanted to say I got some work done on the crafting/cooking systems. They both could still use some more fleshing-out, but I’m happy with just having the basics down for now.
As for the enemies, there’s predators like bears or wildcats, and there’s monsters. I’ve got a list of different animals you can encounter in the caverns, might need to add a few more but that’s the extent of what I have to do for them. As for the monsters, I’ve got a few designs and ideas, but I’ve been waiting until I’ve got more of the story down before I finalize any of them.
I ended up recycling some worldbuilding from a old project since it fit really well with what I already had established. So we’ve got lore! Ive also started work on some characters that you can run across. And I’ve got a bunch of the endings wrote down.
I’ve still got a lot I need to do with the story, but I’ve got enough done to start working on designs. So that’s what I’ll be focusing on next.

Devlog 1
Just started working on a new game since the previous one was giving me so much trouble. This one has a MUCH smaller scope and I’ve already got more done on it than I did the last one. So yay ☺️❤️.
Its a survival horror game about being trapped in a cave. With the Goal being to escape said cave. It’s still in the idea phase but I feel like I’m making a lot of progress. Mainly I’ve been researching and coming up with ‘first drafts’ of stuff. Like the map, the mechanics, the characters, etc.
Right now, there’s 4 playable characters. Each of them suited for a different playstyle and with different strengths/weaknesses. I’ve thought about including a 5th PC but I’m undecided on that.
I’ve done quite a bit with mechanics, mostly coming up with them but also fleshing them out. I want the player to feel uneasy so I’ve been coming up with stuff that’ll help do that. I’m still nowhere near done though.
I also have a first draft of the map, which I’m very proud of. Obviously some stuff will probably have to be rearranged in the future but right now it’s a great start.
My next order of business is figuring out what resources/key items are in each part of the map, iron out the crafting/cooking mechanic, and then start on the combat system.
