I came across this image on tumblr in a big image pile about history and archaeology (I can't find it now, unfortunately). I've always loved these re-creations of ancient people so I thought it would be a fun project this year to redraw some of them. I got a little carried away with her nose and eyes, but I loved drawing this ancient Peruvian woman so much!

Also, I figured out how to use the recordings on my drawing app! =) I'll reblog with those.

"The Wari Queen, She was found in 2012 by a Polish-Peruvian archaeology team, entombed in an underground mausoleum in El Castillo de Huarmey, Peru. She lived approximately 1200 years ago and died in her sixties. Her bones indicate she led a leisurely life, and her decayed teeth indicate a diet high in sugar (most likely she regularly drank the sugary corn-based beer, chicha). Other artifacts in her chamber she was an expert weaver-- a very highly-valued craft."

Cat post! Cat post! Cat post! The first four are my most recent drawings done of my cats! The first two pencil drawings are also my cats (the tuxedo cat and the gray tabby) but the last two I drew for my sibling for a proofreader service they were starting.

I'm a member of the 'Captain Flint did nothing wrong' club and decided to try my hand at drawing him a couple months back.

So I said I started drawing again so I could draw my D&D characters; here are some of the ones I've drawn since picking it back up.

First is Maisie, the halfling ice wizard I made for Dungeon of the Mad Mage. Then Grenn, who was actually a Pathfinder character, an elven swashbuckling magus fighter who was exiled from his home. Next is a hobgoblin barbarian I made but never played (and can't even remember the name of 😅).

After her is Kamai, a water genasi wizard NPC from my last campaign. And Kas, a rogue/fighter exiled son of a Duke and future brother-in-law to the king.

Then Taazeni, a paladin from a custom species I cobbled together which were basically an alien species with star-based powers and culture. And last is Kossus, another NPC, who was a tiefling messenger boy sometimes hired to bring messages to the party. They ended up buying him a horse and some new clothes.

I decided to make a new blog where I can post my art. 😊

I'm still learning to draw, but I feel like I'm at a place where I'd like to share more of it.

I've always liked drawing and originally went to college for an art degree (though now I work in tech). But I used to get so frustrated with my drawings that I would stop for years at a time, then pick it back up, etc, etc.

A couple years ago, though, I decided to give it a go in earnest, starting from the beginning and going forward-- and reminding myself that I would never get better unless I kept working at it. I picked up some drawing books and literally started with drawing spheres and cubes.

I was primarily motivated by the need to draw my D&D characters and so I tend to focus on portraits, but I do also just draw random objects or whatever my family suggests. Sometimes it's just doodles and sometimes I put a bit more effort into it.

I'm not currently open for commissions partly because I just don't think my skill is up to snuff yet and partly because I want art to remain a hobby for me. But I am open to suggestions if you want to send one as an ask. Life is busy, so it might take a little while to get back to you.

I started out with pencils and a sketchbook, but earlier this year I finally found an affordable (at least for me) tablet that I love to pieces and so I've been able to veer in a more digital direction. I use an app called Infinite Painter on the tablet.
