I hate that so much. It makes no sense to me. The entire time they were underestimating Rusty because he was steam, so why would steam trains start to underestimate diesel and electric immediately after they won? It just kinda makes them exactly what they were going against in the first place. Not to mention in the original light at the end of the tunnel song they started coming after energy sources that didn’t even race with them??? What did solar and nuclear power ever do to you?????

I hate the whole “converting to steam” plot line at the end of stex bc Rusty’s win had NOTHING to do with him being a steamer. he was objectively rlly slow. GB and Electra (and C.B. ig) were much faster, they lost bc they made bad decisions and ending up crashing. also in some versions Momma/Poppa only wins the race bc EVERYONE else crashes / is disqualified. being converted to steam is stupid esp because of how proud G.B. And Electra were of being diesel and electric. Just bc the tortoise won the race doesn’t mean it’s faster than a hare yk
