I was surprised by hire much of mine is children’s movies 🤣
Behold.. My List!
I also would like to join in the movie poll fun please. I'm not a cinephile, or a movie snob, but I feel like my taste is fairly broad, so I'm sure there's at least one film here you've seen and loved. (And probably at least one that will leave you scratching your head.)
Ain't diversity of opinions beautiful?
Fun Fact: Animalympics was responsible for my first introduction to fan fiction. My brother used to make up stories about the adventures of the Calamari Brothers for me 💙🦑

the people hating on the Cobel solo ep r crazy bc for me one of the biggest mysteries of the show has ALWAYS been "wtf is up with that absolute freak?" She is so deeply strange and captivating. Finding out the specific kind of madness that has been motivating her methods has haunted me since she was talking about de-icing her stoop, and now we know! child soldier PhD student mourning both her mother and her stolen IP!!! THATS why she's crazy THATS why she is so incomprehensible and strange. obsessed obsessed obsessed.

imagine you are a gay man in your 60s and you've been in the military most of your life so you've never been free to be yourself or to seek out people like you and as a result you're now elderly and alone and you've spent a lifetime betraying yourself and you've never been loved and you get experimental brain surgery to cope with this and then one day you learn that the innocent child version of yourself who knows nothing of your isolation or your sins fell in love with another man and the man he loved was killed for pursuing that relationship and then your other self is also killed presumably for the same reason but you meet the other version of the man he loved and he's married but he wants to get to know you and you don't know him but you have some inextricable connection, something is pulling you towards him and you know you shouldn't trust him but you do and you just don't want to be alone and his husband is kind of a dick so you follow that feeling and it leads you right into a trap he set for you and it turns out that he was just manipulating you all along, to make you let your guard down, and you fell for it because there's a part of you that wants to put your life in his hands and so you do and he takes you to a train station and tells you to get as far away from here as you possibly can, he's saving you perhaps even at the cost of his own life and you think maybe you weren't entirely wrong about trusting him so you tell him you want him and he doesn't deny he wants you back, you tell him you're ready to be loved by him and you don't even know what that means but you keep saying it over and over because it just feels right, like you've been waiting for this your whole life, and maybe you have, all you know is your life hangs in the balance but for the first time you're not afraid, and maybe his interest in you was under false pretenses but you don't care because there's a part of this that's real and you both know it, he doesn't let you kiss him but he lets you touch his face and stroke his cheek with your thumb and then you walk away and get on the train with your dog going to god knows where and as the tracks whisk you away into the great unknown and the dying light of a cold winter day paints your face you think maybe you have been loved all along. happened my friend irving bailiff

Every week Severance is like here’s an hour of some of the most fucked up implications that have ever haunted your television screen, with some of the most gorgeous cinematography & acting you’ve ever seen, that will make you experience the entire spectrum of human emotion all at once. And then I have to go to work the next day.

and obviously you find yourself thinking oh i do wish i could get severed to do this one thing. would you actually maybe not. but you do wish you didn't have to undergo medical procedures you do wish you didn't have to do the things that give you anxiety you do wish you didn't have to do tedious tasks that barely even require you to be present for them. it's tempting. that's why the premise works. but the premise is also that somebody has to do it. somebody has to go to the dentist and somebody has to get on that plane and somebody has to write those thank you notes. just like somebody has to clean the house and somebody has to harvest the food you eat and somebody has to make the clothes you wear. you can't eliminate inconvenience you can only delegate it. you can't eliminate suffering you can only delegate it. and always the easiest way to live with this is to see that somebody as less than. less than you less than people. and if that somebody has to wear your body to do it well maybe it's not all that different. they're not a person. you are. it's capitalism all the way down baby

It really could only be Irving who figured out who Helly was.
We meet him as a devout believer in Keir and the strange religion that Lumon has built around him and all the other Eagans.
And then when he strays from their teachings the gods that he so ardently believes in they punish him by taking away the man he loves.
And now, here in front of him, is one of his gods. And his god is not only openly mocking the beliefs that he has been devoted to his entire (innie) life to but the beliefs that he was punished for transgressing. And to add insult to injury his god has assumed that he, a true believer until mere days ago, wouldn't know her when she stood in front of him?
Irving was a man of faith, his faith has betrayed him, and now he's trying to kill God. I love it.

six sentence sunday
hello honey bunnies. happy sunday. thank you @confused-bi-queer @roomwithanopenfire @meanjeansjeans @monbons @orange-peony
@artsyunderstudy @fiend-for-culture for the tags! I can't wait to go back and see you all have been up to.
This week the Carry On AU Fest starts posting! I'm so excited for a new fic (or start of a fic) every day for the next couple weeks. I also got all my valentines sent out...at long last.
Last night I got to see the symphony perform a Brahms/Radiohead mashup and I can't overstate how gorgeous it was. It made me think about how important art and music are to keeping us human. It mostly featured OK Computer but I found a youtube clip of Creep, which was actually my favorite piece; it's below the cut along with a bit of When That Light Hits the Sky. I managed to find six sentences exactly! I'm not sure I've ever done that before.
"What's your address?" "That's easy." He tapped his phone and flashed the stranger his lock screen; big block letters read, "IF FOUND PLEASE RETURN TO PENNY [ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER]. REWARD OFFERED." "I thought your name was Simon. That's a weird way to keep track of your phone." "Oh, Penny's my flatmate, and the reward's for finding me, not for the phone."
And here's the gorgeous version of Creep I mentioned:

This is more of a WIP Wednesday, type thing, but *shrug*. I mean, there's definitely six sentences in there XD. I wanted to have the two pages filled up today, but I ran out of time.

Here's the manual I used for the drawings.

If you're reading @hushed-chorus's amazing Those Glowing, Magickal Years, then you probably know that Year Three just finished posting on Friday. (If you're not, YOU SHOULD BE. It's such a juicy canon divergence retelling of every year at Watford, full of amazing lore, the funnest action sequences, and really neat takes on the politics and side characters. AND it's written beautifully).
In honour of the final chapter of Year Three, I made yet another choral arrangement of The Mage's Heir song (I guess it's kind of my thing 😂). The song features in the coolest, moodiest scene and Demi wrote some great lyrics for it (building on the ones from that Fangirl special edition where the song appears). I tried to capture the mood in the style of Gregorian(-ish) chant (very much -ish).
There are no fic spoilers in the song, so even if you haven't read you can listen to me trying to sound like a choir of monks. If you have read, you can listen to this while you re-read the scene and imagine Simon hearing it too.
