How the DSMP became a devastating reality

yo, do you guys ever think about just how reflective that the events of the DreamSMP were of reality?? hear me out here:

• Wilbur sets off something innovative and quite literally revolutionary. In the end, he isn't quite as noble as he seems. the worst parts of him seep through the cracks and his image shatters, cutting himself and everyone around him.

• Tubbo eventually refuses to play the pawn, splitting off to purse the things he is truly passionate about

• Technoblade—always leagues ahead of everyone else, clearly on another level (oh gosh, i'm tearing up here)

• Dream's identity confuses everyone—is he good? is he bad? who is he? Has an alarming obsession with Tommy, and a sever case of main character syndrome

• Tommy—the main character in the end. slowly loosing the flamboyance and fire that once characterized him. always drawing the short straw. always left to pick up the broken pieces.

So as the streams wrapping up I'm reviewing my notes on what's happened and what's been said, in this stream dream has:

-Misgendered aimsey, when told their pronouns he pretended to be confused on what their pronouns are and then started calling them by their name to avoid gendering them correctly -called tubbo tommy 6 times -started yelling when tubbo wouldnt let him move on from the sexism claims and then called tubbo emotional for yelling later on -said this company uses child labor with no evidence, because its a chinese company -"I dont understand why id have to provide evidence when accusing tom of a crime" -"I cant prove anything because my sources want to be anonymous but im not gonna talk about the non anonymous people messaging you telling you im wrong" -Said that viewing tommys mom as a separate person was a mistake and thats why he dmed her -said he wants tommy to delete the vids of him hanging out w dreams family bc he doesnt want ppl to think he supports tommy anymore -Denied being gay, pretended not to know what the definition of "queer community" is so he could avoid saying hes straight -Tried to pass the queerbaiting blame onto george

The thing about c!Schlatt that you have to keep in mind is that, yes he has sympathetic qualities, but like basically every human on the planet has sympathetic qualities if you look hard enough.

But also, most of those "sympathetic" moments are entirely his own fault. "Oh he died of a heart attack surrounded by people who hated him 🥺" yeah because he was an abusive piece of shit who actively ruined every relationship he had because he couldn't handle not being at the very top in every situation. "Oh, but insert character said he was what L'manburg needed, and they were his friend." Literally, I'm begging you read The Tell-Tale Heart.

Like yeah his sympathetic qualities shouldn't be ignored, but acting like they in any way excuse pr even explain his behavior is borderline fanfiction.

just wanna say how much i appreciated the whole exile confrontation part of that lore stream. because everyone is talking about the prison, but i haven't seen enough praise for this specifically.

the fact they cleared up EXACTLY what was going on in exile (cdream destroying ctommy's things, manipulating him, AND HURTING HIM PHYSICALLY) with no room for apologists to debate it. the way it took cwilbur a bit to understand because he was so far in denial, but the moment he DID he immediately retracted his victim-blaming and assured that cdream was in the wrong. how in-character everything was (from ctommy going because cwilbur wanted to, to the attempts at humour that kept falling flat). them towering up only for ctommy to stop because he didn't want to again. THE WHOLE BEACH PARTY SCENE, where they started off wobbly and shy and emotional, and built each other up until they were singing and dancing around and LETTING CTOMMY RECLAIM HIS TRAUMA.

and to be honest, i'm glad cwilbur wasn't the one to call out cdream as "abusive" word-for-word, because that'd only be satisfying if ctommy said it. this steam's confrontations weren't between discduo, they were about cwilbur. and yet, they managed the topic sensitively, clearly, and without any room for debate.

massive respect to wilbur, tommy, and dream as writers. crimeboys stay winning.
