Problems for International Student
Travelling Problems in Canada
It is also a big Problem as students are not familiar with the public transport in the beginning. In Canada, Buses have their numbers like 4, 4A, 5, 3A. Firstly, Transportation is also expensive in Canada for an International Student who belongs to a country whose currency is Cheaper than Canadian Dollars. For example. Countries like India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have cheaper currency as compared to Canadian Dollars. Apart from this, many students live very far away from their Colleges because some live with their families while other may live because of the cheaper rent. They have to change 2 or 3 buses to reach their college because mostly colleges are in the centre of the city. Moreover, many students don’t know about the transportation system which includes to buy a bus card to pay the fares while boarding the bus. All the students can’t afford personal vehicles such as cars, therefore they have no other way to travel instead of the public transit. There is the availability of rides such as UBER and LIFT, but that too are expensive for the students. So, the students have the only way to travel that is Public Transit.

Job Related Problems
This is the biggest problem for an International student to find a Job. Firstly, SIN (Social Insurance Number) is required to legally work in Canada. Many students are not familiar with it in the beginning. They don’t even know from where they can get their SIN. Secondly, most of the employers want their workers to work more then 20 hours and some don’t even give work for 20 hours because they want a person who can work full time. Work also depends on the seasons as it is very difficult to find work in the winter season because at that time the work gets really slow because the transportation gets slow because of heavy snow which is common in Canada in the winter season. Apart from this, there are many jobs which required certain types of licenses to work and the issue of these licenses is expensive for an international students.

Homesickness
It is also a big problem faced by every International Student. Students have to live alone. Their Parents are not with them to take care of them and to feed them. I feel that this makes us stronger. I want to give my example, I landed in Canada on 16 August and my cousin received me on the Airport. For the first 15 days, I lived in Waterloo. Even my cousin was there, those were the toughest days for me because I was missing my parents, Grandparents and all my friends. Some of the students also feel depressed. There is a video which will tell how to overcome homesickness. They remember the time spent with their schoolmates and other fellows. The relatives who took care, the neighbours, and many other known persons are missed at this moment, until there is no one to share one’s thoughts and feelings.

Problems of International Students
Location and Accommodation
Every person in this world need a place called Home where they can live. International Students also need a place to live but they face a lot of problem in finding a house. Firstly, in the beginning they do not have connections with the people and they also don’t know how to find a house in Canada. Secondly, the cost of houses are very high nowadays. Property rates in Toronto increased by 24.3 % last year (Press, 2019). As per my experience, the houses near to the colleges have very high rent as compared to the houses which are far away from the colleges. Students also have to pay first and last month rent which has become very common nowadays. To decrease the Accommodation cost, students live in sharing. This helps them a lot as they can save their money which could be incurred on food and transportation. Apart from this, Residence provided by the colleges are very costly which is unaffordable for the students.

Financial Problems
International students’ life is like a bed of roses but with thorns. International students have to face a lot of financial Problems. There are many reasons. Finding a job is like finding a needle in a haystack. International students need to pay their tuition fees which is pretty high. As Canada is a very developed country, the cost of living and daily expenses is very high. Many of the International students are from the countries which are developing or are underdeveloped. So, they need huge amount of their home currency to incur the expenses. Moreover, there is also working restrictions on International Students (Government of Canada, 2019). Students are very confused in the beginning like they don’t know the rules and regulation of the country. The major problem is that they must buy all new electronic Products as the products of their native country do not properly work in Canada. Apart from this, they have to pay additional fees to their college like Gym, Recreational fees which is mandatory and way too expensive for an International student as all these services provided off campus are way cheaper as compared to on Campus.

Work and Life Balance
It is very difficult for an International student to manage both work and studies. Mostly, International student live either with their friends or live alone. They have to cook their food. Apart from this, most of the international student also do part time jobs to support themselves. Assignments are a part of Canadian education system and there are lot of assignments in a semester. As with the passage of time, due dates of the assignments come close and at that time a student have to face a lot of load and stress because of the studies, job and their life respectively. It is not necessary that a student will get a job near his/her house. Some students go to the nearby cities to do their job. Thus, a lot of time is consumed in travelling, which means that they get very less time to rest. Many International students come on Student Loan from their home country. They do not want to create burden on their families that’s why it becomes necessity for them to do a job along with their studies.
