Face

I just wanted to spotlight some faces I really think they hit out the park with. There is a lot of reasons I love theses faces. Design, story telling, problem solving, recognizability the list goes on. I lack the words to really do them justice.

This story was hawkflame999 idea. I wrote it and stuff but you can thank them for the plot and story beats. We worked on it together. Part 2 is where it gets good. I still have to draw it so sit tight. That takes time.

Kai: I’m not embarrassed!

The First Spinjitzu Master

Yes, I am aware they made him blond (at least I think they did? IDK I don't keep up with it.)but that is post movie Ninjago which for me is a different thing. I like to think he came from lego Asia and Wu got his blond hair from his mother who came from Lego Europe. Ok I'm done.

I just realized his goatie is missing in that one. I'm always forgetting that.

Classic Kai reference

Kai hair is hard for me to draw so I made me this. Because I love Kai's hair so much.

Ah, I love this movie. It is just so fun. A true good kids movie that was actually made for kids. They use Lego to the fullest. They build; they come apart; the works. It's glorious. They pioneered so many great things. Also, something I find funny about it is the cover; it actually looks worse than the movie. The movie looks much better than shown on the cover. It's weird because it's normally the reverse. The music. 👌I work alone, is a jam. Good times, good times. I know a lot of people won't like this movie (mostly because they don't know how to have fun) and that's ok. Because I love it and that's all that matters.

I just want all you kids of today to know this is the real Clutch Powers. Modern Ninjago scammed you. I'm sorry but they did.

Demons

I got paint pens and I tested them out here with demons I designed for a ninjago comic. That comic is on hold right now as it was more complex then I thought it would be and I need a break from it. If you were wondering they are made of hot glue put in a Lego mold. The backsides are flat. Why yes they do look like traffic lights. They probably won't in the comic as I'm planning on it being in black and white.

The paint pens I used here are a Laconile set of 30 pen with two colors to a pen. It dose save on space but I wonder if it's also kinda like getting half a pen. IDK. This set hase 12 metallic colors. Which is pretty cool.

As for the paint pens they work great on hot glue as it has tooth. The paint sticks to it really well. On real lego heads it comes off pretty easy. Its just too smooth. You'd need some sort of sealant to keep it from chipping right off. Mine are water based which is both an advantage and disadvantage. The red in my set is not very bright which is a disappointment for me. None of the colors are that bright really but I really like a deep bright screaming red. At the same time it's cool they are lighter colors because it's hard to find nice light colors in art sets. Mostly in markers.

Outfit Design

What are you guys thoughs on these colors for her?

Outfit one is my favorite just because it's just so comfy looking and the digital lines. Outfit two looks like to me more like something that would existed in ninjago. The last one doesn't really work on a lego body. Not the way I've done it here anyway. I originally made these designs in a non-lego style. Her crop top just doesn't show the same layered look on a Lego body.

I used inspirobot for the posters except for the cactus one. Lego's Possessed/brainwashed characters in a support group just cuz why not.

I make art for the original ninjago. What counts as original for me is seasons before the movie. So right up to the one with the time twins. Post movie ninjago to me is not the same show. So the whole oni thing doesn't apply to any of my works. Just so you know.

Art notes

Lego people are way fun to draw but I got to keep practiceing drawing human, humans. Got to practice anatomy by drawing full bodies sometime. These are from a page from my sketch book. I used references. I scanned and finished them in ibspaint. I used backgrounds I had already made. My tablet has really good color display so when I put my art on other devices they don't look the same. The skin on the first spinjitzu master looks kinda off on my phone, almost sickly. Only Garmadon is supposed to look sick. It looked fine on the tablet. Not sure what to do about that. Don't even know what you'd look up to find stuff on getting your colors to look good acrossed devices.🤷
