i get that people think the gay jesus storyline was stupid and i agree on that, it’s not my favourite, but i saw a reddit post and some people think it was unnecessary and doesn’t further ian’s character development.

i’m very much of a different mind on that.

because ian leaving mickey behind to carry on to mexico while he returned to chicago, hit ian maybe harder than he thought it would. obviously it was hard, but he was just expected to carry on, like he hadn’t left the man he loves for a second time, this time to potentially never ever get the chance to see him again. i think the more time went on, the more it weighed on ian.

ian had one conversation with lip about it, and then it was like: okay, moving on! i feel like ian tried to bury his feelings, like he always does, and it backfired spectacularly, like it always does.

he does this consistently throughout the show. mickey broke his heart in s3? better run away and join the army. it’s what he does, the perpetually ignored middle child. he runs from his problems and tries to ignore his feelings. so the gay jesus storyline might not have made a whole lot of sense but thinking about it more, he’s bipolar, he’s experienced a significant loss, and he’s tried to ignore his feelings and go back to his life like nothing happened. it was only a matter of time before shit caught up to him and the result was gay jesus. he ignored his feelings, went off his meds and what happened, happened.

i don’t believe the writers did that storyline with that intention, but it makes sense for his character and they could have made it 100x better if they showed us that ian was deeply missing mickey.

i’m so glad for all the fics out there that have done justice by gallavich. seriously, get fic writers in the writing room 😭 y’all know what we want!

One thing the shameless fandom does not seem to understand is that EVERY character is some kind of morally grey, bcus they're shameless!!!

It honestly pisses me off when people shit on others bcus of their fave character, when their fave character should rlly be in jail like cmon either admit u hate women or stfu

Do you think Debbie is still with Heidi? How did that end? Do you think Heidi bit off the rest of Debbie's toes in breakup revenge?

*cracks knuckles* i have opinions. In 11x12 Heidi tells Debbie that she's "splitting tomorrow" off to Texas to join her friends in some scam or whatever. She very casually tells Debbie that she's welcome to come and bring Franny too if she wants. I really dont think Heidi cares one way or the other. A thing I think that should be acknowledged here, is that even if we think Debbie was considering it that day, by later that night when the hospital got ahold of the Gallagher's and told them Frank had died of covid, Debbie wouldn't be going anywhere, and Heidi would definitely be outta there ASAP. (Not so much because she's uncomfortable or whatever, but because she has her own plans and she does not care enough to change them.) So even if we assume the Gallaghers don't really bother to isolate for covid exposure (which like i dunno, maybe they would be good about it but its besides the point), I think that Frank's death would bring all 5 of his kids (yes Ian is one of Frank's kids) together in a stronger way than what we were seeing in most of season 11. Okay bear with me, because I know they didn't like him, often hated him, (though Liam was young enough to still be pretty fond of him just like we saw with Debbie and Carl), but they would still feel his loss. They had feelings about it when Monica died, and she was the parent who was gone for huge chunks of their lives. Frank was actually around most of the time. And they all had their moments with Frank (except for Ian i suppose though i maintain they both still considered each other father & son) which would make their feelings about his death even more complicated than Monica's (I guess like how Ian had more complicated feelings about Monica's death because he had been closer to her as apposed to the others who were closer to Frank). So all of that is to say that I think there would have been some emotions and they probably held a memorial party for him at the Alibi much like they shared some memories and partied together after Monica's funeral. Frank had just told Debbie that the only way she was going to find someone to be with was to find someone who was a bigger loser than her. And I think we're supposed to assume that she's taken that to heart and that it contributes to her bringing Heidi home with her. But like I said, Heidi definitely woke up the next morning and skipped town. And I really dont think that she nor Debbie really cared about it. I think within the following days that Debbie would have ended up in a heart to heart talk with Lip. I dunno if yall remember, but Debbie and Lip are actually pretty close before season 11? Their butting heads over the house situation wasn't going to last forever. She would have told him what Frank said to her and he would have done the big brother/pseudo-father thing that he normally does and tell her about how it's bullshit, maybe he'd even have a little advice for her. I think whatever is said between them would have helped her understand that Frank really was just full of shit. And going forward she would not be looking for someone "more of a loser" than she is. 😑 Maybe she would even look for someone who really has their shit together? Debbie is a catch tbh, and I think she can very much achieve a good relationship with someone stable. She's young, she has lots of time to learn and develop better relationship habits. And yeah idk, I just think they'd all be making a slightly bigger effort to connect after Frank's death. Especially for Liams sake, you know? Uuhhhmmm okay I hope I answered all your questions in there somewhere. Oh... No, Debbie did not lose any more toes. 🙏

lets talk about this scene cause?????? i live for it, i love it 10000% ian is confused, worried wondering why mickey stopped him from throwing his parole just like mickey wanted?? so of course ian is angry telling him 'mickey this is what you wanted, we can be together longer, i want to be with you!!!' so when mickey tells him ''well, sucks to be you but you don't get to be.'' ian's confusion and anger switches to panic, wondering why mickey doesn't want him anymore? he's probably extra worried after mickey's comment on them waiting for one another (ian!!! he was traumatised!! you did leave him last time!!!!) ian tries one more time 'i wanna be where you are, mickey.' but mickey doesn't given in, he says ian doesn't belong there and ian is so ready to argue cause who fucking cares if mickey is a thug who can handle prison better? and ian is not? he loves him and wants to be with him !!!!

but he stops when mickey tells him he has to get out, be an uncle, get a job. the things he knows ian wants in life but?? ian shakes his head he's so done with leaving mickey behind he wants him he doesn't care about anything else

he's angry, trying to calm down, ready to argue back until mickey reassures him that he's going to get out soon!!! they're going to be together!!! he's not going to leave!!!!! mickey he's sorry for asking ian to stay with him which probably worried him more, cause of course you would want your lover to stay with you, right?? right?? why is he regretting that now?? and ian says he loves him. he says them shyly, insecurely? as if he doesn't know if mickey believes that he loves him, trying to say that he loves mickey and that's why he wanted to do what he asked him to.

thinking about how soo many of the hated female characters on shameless were just little girls who went through the worst

svetlana - was sold in sexual slavery at 10, bought into a new country through sex, and was violated at the same time mickey was.

debbie - was constantly abandoned by her parents and older sister. groomed by a 20 smth year old and was forgotten until someone needed something of her

fiona- imo she isn't as hated on, but still she was 9 and had to raise herself, her siblings while simukatnouely taking care of frank. she wasn't even in the double digits when she had to take on the role of a caretaker

mandy- was raped by her own dad on multiple occasions and therefore started seeing her body as a tool she could use to get validation . not to mention she wasn't even 20 when Kenyatta started abusing her and she left Chicago

karen- had to take care of her own mother instead of it being the other way around. her own dad humiliated her and had married a guy much older than her which I think could also ground for statutory rape and grooming in her case

tami - we don't know much about her but her mom died when she was really young and then was groomed by her teacher that she thought was giving her the attention she didn't get at home
