I always love visiting the rug showroom. I appreciate the quality of natural fibers in a rug. Good wool does not shed, it is soft under foot, ethically sourced and will last a lifetime. Some mainstream rugs are made from wool but are over processed, feel scratchy and will shed for months. Timeless farmhouse kitchen from our #skichaletsugarbushvt project a few years ago. We opened it up. Created a family sized island that seats 4. Large pathways to encourage many cooks. This ski chalet sleeps 15 and the kitchen opens up to the dining room. Big breakfasts and family dinners are made before and after a day on the mountain. Swipe to see the before. Hello. It's been awhile. Pandemic and continued racial injustice. I've taken a long pause to read, listen and take steps to become a better ally. It is messy and I know I don't say the right thing all the time but what I do know is Black Lives Matter 🖤 This is from our #sugarbushshakerskicondo project. This console table design is by Ben Cheney at @flywheelindustrialarts . He had a smaller version in his shop, see 2nd photo. I loved the design, how the beam was recessed in the steel. I asked him if we could make it into a larger console table and use a reclaimed beam. The search was on. After several weeks we found a beam the right size. It was sourced from an older building that was taken apart, see 3rd photo. Ben cleaned it up and finished it with a natural oil to enhance the history. Local art, custom ottomans and hickory floors add to this sweet vignette. This is what I love. Sugarbush Resort and all Vermont mountains sadly had to close on March 15th in order to keep this virus from spreading. Many of my clients' condos are now sitting empty when normally they would be enjoying the 10 inches of snow we got yesterday. I was able to make some deliveries last week while the resort is vacant. Excited to see this rug in it's place. As the dude would say "this rug, it really ties the room together." Be safe. Stay home. A refresh in this living room. Sometimes you don't have to knock it all down to make it beautiful. New furniture, lighting, window coverings and finishes. We wrapped the beams in hemlock and added a custom stain because the clients loved their new reclaimed beam on the fireplace. The beam was the piece that inspired the rest of the room . . .
