Also, during my cursory glance through jajanken you can really see how the ratio of series that were allowed to stick around for a year to new serializations decreased as jump focused more and more on finding that Hot New IP.

Consodering the state of the magazine and it's editorial choices, I'm beginning to doubt that it's possible for a new sports manga to really get a foothold in jump anymore. In the years I've been reading, I've seen several new sports manga debut, some with absolutely amazing concepts and artwork, yet they invariably get axed (or put on that path in Ember's case.)

The speed of jump stories combined with the editorial standards for craft mean we're just churning through mangaka for no good reason.
