on terrax -- ;
Terrax is a dragon-like being considered extremely unusual among even its kind, as her conception was not intentional and unplanned--even for House Belaerys known for breeding them. How Terrax’s conception came to be is unknown, but what little they did know was that is was Aekar Belaerys’ dragon, Jhevel, a male in heat, that escaped from Aekar’s hold and abandoned them for weeks. Occurring when Jaenara was just a girl, this rogue dragon had disappeared for roughly a month before being spotted at the mouth of a mine located at the spurs of one of Flames. There, Jhevel was found having nested with none other than a firewyrm, made obvious by how this firewyrm was coiled protectively about this clutch of eggs. While Jhevel was eventually able to be coaxed back home by Aekar, the firewyrm was relentlessly possessive of her eggs and only one was able to be retrieved--one with a shell of fiery opalescence.
This egg was eventually conferred to little Jaena, the youngest of Aekar’s three children, as it seemed fitting when she was the only one who wasn’t of a full Valyrian blood. No one expected this hatchling to be tamed, let alone capable of flight, so the time between the hatchling’s conception and subsequent hatching were fraught with intrigue and some concern.
Yet, the hatchling did eventually hatch and a strange, new hybrid was born: seen as a firewyrm with wings, Terrax was named so on Jaena’s 8th name day and she became the only person capable of being around the rapidly growing drake, as she was fiercely hostile to anyone else. Jaena received many scars due to her dragon’s possessiveness and temperament when others were around, but eventually mellowed out enough that Jaena could have others around without Terrax becoming malcontent.
Physically and anatomically, Terrax resembles a firewyrm more than she does a dragon, possessing no extraneous limbs except an expansive pair of wings capable of being folded into flaps of flesh that prevent damage to the membranes while burrowing underground. Though capable of breathing fire, Terrax is much more snake-like than dragon. Her main form of locomotion is slithering, known for flattening her trunk in flight much in a same way serpents are capable of, and consumes her prey whole. Terrax is capable of super-heating her body to unbearably hot temperatures that allow her to burrow underground, creating floes much like those magma move through. Her hide is as rough as stone and can make extremely prolonged flight difficult, sometimes having to rely on vessels to be transported across vast distances.
As she has no limbs to claw into things, Terrax will usually coil about castle spires in cities or drape her enormous bulk across the canopy of trees, her most destructive mode of repose to her massive bulk. Her preferred means of rest are by burrowing into the earth deeply, and if the surrounding environment is cold, she will utilize her ability to heat her own body to thousands of degrees to keep warm. Usually, while not having to consume food as often as other dragons, she requires at least two heads of steer to keep her satiated and feeds once every two weeks.
It was due to Terrax’s ability to burrow beneath the earth that applied towards Jaena’s survival in Sothoryos, Terrax quite at home and able to make meals of the enormous fauna and roost in their cathedral-large trees.
On the matter of breeding, Terrax is incapable of reproducing with dragons and is only able to reproduce with other firewyrms and her yields are typically and simply firewyrms, born without wings or means of flight and too hostile to utilize as mounts for a dragonriders, though some are tame enough that they can co-exist with people without being as destructive as their ken, the only trait passed from Terrax herself.

“I suppose someone could, couldn’t they, M’lord?” The North is not a place she would have expected to venture, but with one of her particular acumen was told of a place vast and mysterious, of course she had to sojourn towards it. Tales of ice dragons and other such fauna piqued the explorer’s interest, but it was in the Stark lordling known as Bran that captured intrigue. Guards standing sentry eyed the Lysene woman carefully, mistrust of outsiders evident but unacknowledged. “I’ve heard much of your abilities by word of mouth, but as I am, my Lord, I wished to cement such a tale for posterity’s sake, if you would allow such a thing.”

I mean, technically I don’t have any ships yet, but--gimme a high-heeled plot based on Gentleman Jack (with Jaena as the wealthy peep out to sweep cute ladies off their feet).

“My Lords Lannister, you humble me with your welcome.” Two, three years it’d been? Of torrential fights across a world that hadn’t known dragons, this continent as unknown as even the scorching jungles of Sothoryos that seemed so much more familiar to her. Casterly Rock overlooked a frothing, foaming and ravenous sea that roared from the cliffs below. Terrax’s enormity had coiled about one of its many spires as she’d made a shocking and unorthodox entrance, the serpentine hybrid content to sun herself while her mistress met with those who would be allied with the king.
It was within their gilt and golden halls that even she could see the hurts of a long war waged, her visit seeming more prudent than even before.

“It’s almost needed here, isn’t it, Your Majesty?” Jaenara replied to the queen with a bit of a modest smile, for the halls of Dragonstone were old and alive with memories. She wondered how long it had been since the seat of Aegon’s blood had not one, but two Valyrians with the line of Dragonlords trekking their halls. A calloused hand ran along the dark stone encompassing the throne, the open recesses that allowed the sea breeze to pass through carried the tang of the sea, so much cooler than the perfumed Lys. Walking with the queen had been done in Daenerys’ confidence and trust, something she intended not to waste.
“It was needed on the continent of Sothoryos, else many creatures and peoples might’ve made me their dinner. It’s a force of habit, I suppose,” she finished with a small smile towards the petite queen.

She wondered if it would be arrogant to consider Westeros almost like a garden. Like those godswoods she’d heard so much about in her many visits to Oldtown and the occasional readings of Westerosi culture she’d managed to peruse through voraciously. Even the places seen as wild were so tame in comparison to her native Essos. From the stands did she have her own place of minor prestige, for a foreign noblewoman could hardly sit taller than these native lords and ladies, all pale-faced and flushed in the sun.
“Which house do you think it might be, my lady?” Jaenara replied back to the noblewoman on her right, spaced some by divisions of her house--for Dorne was as close to Essos as she’d allegedly come here. “I was hoping to see Celtigar or Valeyron, but I suppose it was not meant to be. Else, I’m hopeless. Who are you thinking will win?”

NATURAL GRACE AND DORNISH BEAUTY, there is nothing standoffish about the dornish princess.     she draws people in from the soft smile that graced her lips to the way that, like the sun itself, she radiates warmth.  her beauty was different to that of a lot of ladies that were seen in the courts of the wider kingdoms but that did not mean it was any less,   in fact … made more so by the way she smiles.
a tourney was always exciting,   always drew in crowds of nobles and smallfolk alike.  her first one, outside of dorne, had been an overwhelming experience, with the crowds and the noise and the smell.  now she was used to them,   now they were something different from the normal and she rather enjoyed them.    “ oh i am sure that the winner will not be too surprising. ”

@araethi -- ;
Tumblr media
To revive the Triarchy was considered unthinkable, even for her. For a world that tired of wars, with these petty skirmishes with Myr and Tyrosh, it seemed the most natural thing in the world. That her house’s name might be weighty enough to see it through. Palm fronds dappled the terrace of her palazzo on the bay, hung over a channel that cut through the scenic island that other stately townhouses of fellow Lyseni nobility roosted. The sun set fiery and golden as a dragon’s breath, desk scattered with myriad notes on another book of Sothoryoi anthropology she was in the nascence of writing. Yet, when her butler informed her of the guest she’d requested to see, she acceded.
“Please, send her in, Rodnick.”

@firesqueen -- ;

They hadn’t believed her, at first. Since the Dragon Queen had come into being in Meereen, many claimed to be a Targaryen bastard; some Dragon seed who was a Blackfyre, even. Filching Lyseni girls and boys from the streets and declaring them noble blood. All because they wished to be on her good graces, to glimpse dragons and the lust for power they represented. Perhaps this is why such scandal arose when Jaenara, a true-blooded daughter of the Dragonlords of old, newly come from Sothoryos in the midst of this chaos on the back of a wyvern--a beast once considered, like the fire wyrms, to have been the predecessor of dragons--all aroar and alive in those peerless azure skies.
In the upper echelons of the Great Pyramid did she dismount from Terrax as nimbly as a Westerosi maiden astride a dainty charger for show, for she’d been expected. Perhaps the last two great houses of Old Valyria, reunited in the most unexpected of ways.
“I have flown far and wide, but never have my ears heard better than dragons flying anew, Your Majesty.”

They held each other close, And turned their backs upon the end, The hills that split asunder, And the black that ate the skies, The flames that shot so high and hot, That even dragons burned, Would never be the final sights, That fell upon their eyes, A fly upon a wall, The waves the sea wind, Whipped and churned, The city of a thousand years, And all that men had learned, The Doom consumed them all alike, And neither of them turned.

The Doom fell on Valyria. Mountains cracked up open like eggs, lakes and rivers boiled, fountains of fire, ash and smoke spewed from the ground so high and so hot that even dragons burned in flight. The land splintered, and the angry sea rushed in. In hours, the greatest city in history became history.
