Random FFXIV lore rant:

I'm sure there are forums and threads where people talk about lore that I could go poke at, and certainly everything has probably been talked to death, but... Where did the rest of the ascians go? The 1/14s and x/14s of previous Source joinings? How many of each did they have? Were there multiple Loghrifs and Mitrons? More than one Nabriales? There definitely seems to have been only one Fandaniel. How did they handle more than one version of themselves? If they did that? There were so MANY in a realm reborn. In that post credits scene. I know Gaius killed his fair share, but he didn't have a fuckin cloak of masks. Where the hell are the rest of them? And I remember thinking at first that some of these people are just ones they converted, like Unukalhai and Cylva, but there has to be more shades of the Convocation around... Are they in the remaining 4 shards? Working their shenanigans not knowing the Big Three are done? (And boy do I want to go to those Shards one day soooo muuuuch) Look, I love what they're doing with Dawntrail (el camino de la madrugada lol) so far, and they're usually really good about continuity (USUALLY. Here's looking at you and your shit Gaius), pero I has questions bro. If I were an ascian I'd be pissed bro. Like wtf. Do they even know how it works? Would it even work anymore with zodiark and mama hydaelyn dead? Are we out of a job bro? How do I get back home if I'm on another shard? I guess they gotta be dead them right.

Yosheep, I has so many questions.

Seriously though, this game can't die yet. I have 4 whole planets to explore, and whole other one to finish saving. By the time this Azem shard retires I'll be well into my sixties.

I adore y’shtola now because every single plan she comes up with is nigh-guaranteed to be the most unhinged idea ever thought up by cat or man. Being pursued by cops? COLLAPSE THE TUNNEL AND TELEPORT DIRECTLY INTO HEAVEN. Need to distract the Children of Everlasting Dark? THROW BEEHIVES INTO THEIR HOUSES. Need to perform a diving save into a bottomless pit? TELEPORT DIRECTLY INTO HEAVEN. AGAIN. Need to get on Mt. Gulg but air travel isn’t feasible? GIANT ROBOT. Need a portal to hell? MAKE A DEMON. That doesn’t work? SHOOT A LASER. AT THE MOON. Banger after banger.

At one point I speculated that Fandaniel's throwaway comment about Zenos being a case where Emet-Selch "finally succeeded" was about Zenos' corporeal aether being as dense as an Ancients'. Not his soul, but his body at least being 2x as dense as the average Source inhabitant (and 14x as anyone from a Shard).

One of the big reasons for the Sundering was that extremely aether-dense people can't interact directly with Dynamis. You can hear Meteion bc your aether is so thin. People turn into monsters bc Dynamis overwhelms and consumes their Aether.

What if Zenos cannot directly interact with Dynamis. At all.

What if THAT'S why everything seems dull and boring to him? There's a whole spectrum of emotion & feeling that he straight up can't feel because his booty too fat his corporeal aether is too thick. But he's still a sundered soul, so part of him still needs Dynamis to feel connected to other people (unlike the Ancients who seem fine?). But his corporeal aether blocks it. The same way that Zodiark's shield kept us from hearing the Endsinger for all those centuries (& by extension the whole universe really), Zenos' thicc aether literally prevents him from feeling connection to others.

This explains why he so easily no-sold the WoL. In addition to supernaturally thick aether, he's also mostly immune to our Power of Friendship crap.

... Mostly.

Because obviously the Ancients still weren't immune to the Endsinger, her effect was just different. They didn't turn into monsters, but their imaginations turned on them, causing their creation magic to manifest ravenous nightmares. In the same way, some part of the WoL's Dynamis was so potent that it broke through. And that's why he became so completely addicted to us. We're literally the only person with powerful enough Dynamis that he can feel any connection at all.
