Perhaps you have a lovely pair of bass-heavy headsets that you want to tone down a little. Or maybe you’re a jazz enthusiast and don’t want the bass to be too boomy. If you’re looking for a deeper sound, or more punch or bass that will shake your windowpanes, creating a custom equalizer can help you to find your optimum sound.

Boom 3D lets you adjust your music by selecting from one of several presets, or by creating a custom equalizer with just the slide of your fingers.

To customize your equalizer in Boom 3D:

·     Open Boom 3D

·     Hover the mouse pointer over or near any band in the equalizer to see the frequency represented by that band along with the markings. Click on the frequency value and put a value of your choice.

·     Or, you can drag the knob in the graph for more precise adjustments in terms of values.

·     Once you make a change in the equalizer settings by fine-tuning the frequencies, the preset selector changes to a section where you need to enter a new name for it.

·     Name your new preset. You can either replace your existing presets or create a new one.

·     Custom presets can be selected or edited from the same drop-down list that shows the array of presets available in Boom 3D.

Boom 3D Rolls Out Version 1.2 With More Features

Why is Boom Unique?

With its innovative 3D audio technology, Boom radically changes the audio experience when you listen to music, watch movies, play games, listen to plain speech, or to any other audio. Normal stereo audio has limited associated spatial intelligence which is not perceivable easily. Boom with its unique sound staging algorithm extracts the latent spatial components from the same stereo track and renders them. Re-creating the original audio experience as it was at the time of creation-recording with all the spatial distribution distinctly perceivable. This recreation, termed virtual surround, giving the original, realistic experience, is the magic that Boom has conjured to deliver, is best experienced on headphones, ordinary ones too. A fine degree of control is available to personalize the audio to suit individual tastes.

Boom works by sampling the input stereo sound wave. It senses the corrective action to be taken to ensure that the originality of the sound wave is restored. Boom then synthesis the required corrective sound wave. It mixes this corrective wave with the input sound wave in real time ( within such a small time lag that it is barely perceivable ). For best audio results, the stereo is converted to a 5.1 for a surround rendering. This leads to an audio that is both realistic and immersive.   Rather than the audio being perceived  only on the right and the left ear in a 2 dimensional mode, the surround sound audio that Boom delivers, tricks the brain to perceive that the audio is coming from all around. Leads you to feel that you’re encircled in an acoustic environment. With headphones ON, the result is more pronounced given that the transformed audio is delivered directly into the ear canal ( with no ambient acoustics to interfere) leading to a truly rich 3D surround sound experience.

How It Works:

Stereo recording does have the spatial distribution of sources of sound stored in varying degrees.  Yet most of this is lost in transmission ( compression/decompression, encoding/decoding, or during rendering of the audio ) at the user end. When sound is recreated by the left and right earphones ( or headsets), the result is nowhere near the original sound. This is because of the missing the spatial components, ambient reflections and the impressions of the room acoustics.

It is almost impossible to produce surround sound on regular headphones mainly because they fail to deliver the audio sources that are positioned at the back of the listener. Boom has been developed precisely to bridge this gap between listening to audio on headphones and listening to the same audio from multiple sources. Boom extracts the spatial sound cues, enhances them precisely to deliver the audio such that the human brain is deluded into perceiving that the audio has come from not the two headphone speakers ( which it indeed is) but from several speakers that are distributed in space which effect is termed virtual surround.
