My 30th

Dear Self,

Remember this day. Hours ago you turned 30. On this very day you spent 7 hours making a business review presentation. While making this letter you are thinking on how to finish the 71 case digests for Property Law due tomorrow. You are battling yourself to either go to bed and rest or spend the whole night wide awake. Why? Because, first thing in the morning you are heading to a meeting with 80 people waiting.

Self, what happened to us? What about us? Ten years ago you wondered what is it like to be this age. 10 years later you are still wondering. Is it time yet? Is this it? You can eat what you want to eat but you can’t. Either you don’t have the time or your clothes won’t fit if you take another bite. You can go wherever you want to go but you can’t. Either your calendar is screaming red or you have scheduled a date with your bed which you have not met 2 days now. Your friends? Thank God they are all alive to date. Some are out sober while others are held captive by their crying little ones. Whatever. They are just a tip of a finger away. Yes, they are on your phone or on your ipad, behind that touch screen. Life is like that for years now.

Since you had so much fun for a decade exhausting your 20’s, enough is enough. Get your ducks in a row. You have another 10 years to write a better letter on your 40th. This is no turning back. Unfortunately life is a one way ticket honey. Persevere. It is not you to give up. Remember, eagles fly alone because they are designed for greater heights. Whenever lonely, look up. There is an endless sky–so much for a reason to soar higher.

If you tend to forget how to live once in a while, at least stay alive. Until then self… Happy birthday.

My heart is full.

2020. The world will never forget this year. Mother earth went down with a tantrum because she is tired. She needs rest. Only halfway through this year when forests around the world burned like hell, volcanoes gone berserk and a tiny little virus hunted human race like predators.

Amidst the chaos, my heart is full. My and my family's good health is the yearning of many ill patients. Earning a keep despite stoppage of work is the prayer of the unemployed. In this difficult times while I am grateful for the life's blessings, I pray for those who are in great need of His divine intervention. May God give mother earth the strength to be back on her feet again.
