“well, i’m working on that.” she nodded, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth. “i just need some time to improve my skills.” tris told him softly. a sigh of relief escaped her lips after hearing his response, although his offer to her in return was a bit odd? without even thinking about it, she found herself accepting his offer. “i will, i always stick around.” the corner of her mouth turned upward. “can you keep this between us though? i don’t want anyone else finding about it, especially CHRISTINA.” although she knew that as soon as she gets back to the dorm, her friend won’t leave her alone without getting specific answers.

“Yeah, I think I can manage to keep my lips sealed.” Four tries fighting a smile that threatens to curl the corners of his mouth up. “Cristina? Is she the Candor transfer with the BIG MOUTH? It’ll get her into trouble one day. Maybe if you tell her, she’ll listen.” His job is to mold the initiates into Dauntless, so his advice shouldn’t be taken for granted. “Oh, and just because you’re busy improving doesn’t mean you should forget to show up at dinner. You’re going to want to get some food in you so your body doesn’t crash.”

“you think?” she asked, exasperated. “i mean you said so yourself the first day i’ve trained; i’m small and weak, i have no muscle. that doesn’t sound like someone who can defend herself from a guy who ALMOST had her killed the other day.” the young blonde mumbled, referring to peter. “but hey, maybe you could teach me some of your moves someday?” she suggested, her voice sounding as it was full of hope. 

“did i say that? i meant not yet. sometimes i have issues with being kind. i’m working on it. and in any case, you don’t need to defend, you need to attack.” tobias nods almost shyly in regards to her inquiry. “i will if you agree to maybe stick around?”

a smile slowly crept on her face as she glanced up to meet his gaze. “i’m  surprised that you were there when i was training, was the LEGENDARY  four spying on me?” little did she know that he actually was. she’d spotted  him watching her training a few times, but she never understood why.

he goes quiet and averts his eyes to glance around the room, a sure sign that he’s been found out. “spying? that’s a hefty ALLEGATION if I ever heard one. I prefer supervising.” four wasn’t much for talking, especially since he couldn’t be seen favoring recruits, but he could hover and give pointers. “you’re quick, but being fast isn’t enough. you’ve got to do is find determination to follow through with your punches. and, striking first helps. remember that peter steps before he attacks.”
