I can’t stop thinking about this book. tw: war crimes, Nazis, desecration of human remains

This is an apparently normal antique book. It’s a photo album filled with pictures of lush countryside. It is also covered in the skin of Jewish prisoner murdered at Buchenwald concentration camp.

To me it represents the pinnacle of Nazi Ideology. They have succeeded in completely destroying the humanity of this person. Every single attribute that would make this person identifiable has been stolen from them. The process of tanning skin destroys even the DNA.

You could touch this book, read it, even hold it in your hands and never know your fingers were touching what might be the final remains of a fellow human.

It is not possible even now that you know the truth to stare deeply or examine well enough to find someone in the binding.
