i have such a love for characters who descend into madness or villainy out of deep, deep empathy. characters who fundamentally cannot cope with the cruel realities they find themselves in and blow up about it in spectacular fashion. fallen angel type characters with tears of outrage in their eyes. characters who break before they bend, and break so badly they splatter blood all over their noble ideals. every variation on it gets me so good

Have sparkeater lore bc I like sparkeaters and think there should be more to them than just “Evil Fairytale Monster” :]
Sparkeaters are most commonly found in the (majorly unexplored) mountainous jungles of Cybertron’s equator
Sparkeaters are almost indistinguishable from your average cybertronian aside from a few differences which are: Usually taller with thicker/stronger armor, data cables/tentacles that can be retracted into ports along their back and sides, claws and teeth meant to punch through thin joint armor, the ability to unhinge their jaw (which usually results in there being transformation seams on the face), an elusive EM field, and naturally cold armor
Sparkeaters are thought to be myths due to their elusive and skittish nature. They’re just as afraid of you as you are of them, if not more so
The original sparkeater myth originated from dumb explorers encountering one that attacked when they got cornered by said explorers
Sparkeaters typically live in packs, which usually consist of a conjunxed pair and their sparklings along with the occasional unrelated loner, like wolves
Family is very important to sparkeaters, as most sparkeaters will spend their life primarily around those they consider family
They natively speak Primal Vernacular
Sparkeaters need to consume energon that contains the energy of a spark in order to properly refuel, hence their predator nature
Sparkeaters don’t hunt other cybertronians unless they are starving. You won’t find sparkeaters in the wild hunting cybertronians if they have a choice between other cybertronians and mechimals
#transformers warbound#transformers fan continuity#tf fan continuity#worldbuilding#sparkeaters#Soundwave is a sparkeater :]#also Brainstorm's sparkeater gun is less so a 'Sparkeater Gun' and more so a 'Zombie-that-looks-like-a-sparkeater Gun'

where my moonracer fans at
moonracer girlies rise up
not "rise up" like decepticons tho. i think that would be antithetical to the goal.

queen (she has not shown up in a meaningful capacity for like. decades. but i like her design so much.)

Cybertronian Colloquialisms - Primes Edition
So we've all heard "By the AllSpark!" or "What in the Pit?" or "Oh Primus" in our TF media. However, I feel like TF writers are missing out on the goldmine that is colloquialisms invoking the different Primes. So, here is a small collection of such colloquialisms, and please, feel free to add more if you have any of your own you use.
"Primus below!" - Exclamation similar to "God above!", invoking the fact that Primus is the core of Cybertron.
"Vector give me patience" - Often paired with "because if Prima gives me strength, I'm going to need bail money." The go-to for when somebot if getting on your last nerves.
"To Alchemist!" - A popular drinking toast, to thank Alchemist Prime for inventing high grade.
"The Three Below" - Refers to Solus, Onyx, and Micronus, the three Primes who formed the Well of AllSparks
"Maximum Blessings on you" - a stealth insult/curse from some dialects, where "Maximum" and "Maximo's" are nearly indistinguishable. As Liege Maximo was the Prime of Lies and Trickery, it's a fitting way to wish someone ill.
“Solus’s slag pit” - Used for something incredible, awful, and incredibly awful. Often used to refer to the latest high society fashion mess.
"Find peace or take it up with the Fallen." - In other words, calm down or screw off.
“As you say, my Liege” - A condescending remark towards a person who’s attempting to lie, cheat or mislead.
Again, if you have any primal colloquialisms you use for your fics, reblog and share them with the rest of us.

Hi! I've been playing with an idea and was wondering how you go about making a transformers continuity?
It sounds like you've got the first part, which is some kind of idea to start from. You can build one however you want to be honest, depending on what you want to focus on or start with. But I'll walk through the process I've used by going through how I made some of mine.
1.) An idea/character focus/question.
For TF: Iconoclast my starting concept Roomie and I built from was him basically asking me:
What if the Quintessons were never overthrown?
For TF: Legendarium it was my own idea of:
What if magic/myths were a main focus of it and Prima was evil?
2.) I asked how that would change things and followed along in a "yes and..." manner. Or picked the main cast and then slowly connected them together. Brainstorm a list of ideas or moments or worldbuilding elements without censoring.
TF: Iconoclast was something that I built in my living room going back and forth with roomie. We popped ideas off of each other back and forth and figured out how it would fit in, by asking questions like: How would society be if the Cybertronians were never free? And going through "Darkest World" kind of scenarios and through characters we liked.
I keep a brainstorming document jotting down ideas, all of them, to start from later.
TF: Legendarium I didn't focus on the larger world so much as go back and forth between building the mythical groundwork for the universe by writing fairy tales and myths and focus on individual characters and how they exist. By building them I built the world.
Again started brainstorming ideas and just jotting anything down pretty freely.
3.) Start fine tuning ideas or making them firmer.
I firm them up to be a central idea/plot theme.
TF: Iconoclast was that the Transformers are rebelling against the Quintessons and freeing themselves.
TF: Legendarium was much more scattered and eventually focused on the themes of nature v. nature, choosing to be a compassionate person, free will, and identity. Every narrative part draws back to this.
4.) Build Characters OR Worldbuilding
Sometimes building the characters comes before the themes or you work on them at the same time. Developing the characters and how you want to handle them can help you figure out the themes you want to focus on.
As a recommendation you don’t have to do every character, just choose the ones that you like and want to talk about.
Worldbuilding is one of the funner elements for me, so it was funner. I do recommend building your world thoroughly. Quick tips are building historical events that still affect things and the three layer rule.
TF: Iconoclast for example the ancient past is the Quintessons taking over Cybertron during Rung’s time/Quintessa taking over, the modern past is Galvatron’s Rebellion, and the recent one is the Lithone People bringing the Quintessons to court for breaking laws protecting sapient life and starting the case for Transformers to be recognized as an independent species.
TF: Legendarium as an example: the ancient past is war of the thirteen, the modern past was Sentinel’s overthrowing of his father, and the recent past was Pickup’s Rebellion.
Start with three: one that happened in the distant past that changed society, one that happened in the modern times (think grandparents/parents time generation wise), and one that happened recently.
If you want to add an element to worldbuilding give it three layers. You set the world up so whatever you establish is the rules just maintain them throughout. Start with the main element then add one deeper reason behind it and then one more so it is built in.
Other Recommendations
It can also be helpful to talk to people to bounce ideas off of.
For TF:Legendarium, I had a few Tumblr users who would ask about specific characters they really liked or scenarios that helped me develop them.
For TF: Iconoclast, I and Roomie were building it together and would talk about it and I would bounce ideas off him.
Don’t be afraid to complete change things or do something new with characters. Throw your wild ideas out and have fun.
I’ve made Ratchet female in one story and married to Pharma. I’ve made Tarn a small toy model who is JazzProwl’s “child”. I’ve made Mirage the First Conjunx of Cybertron married to Sentinel Prime and the parent of Knock Out. I made the Alpha Trion evil and manipulating civilization to start a holy war.
Now, please tell me about your idea.

I am peak interested, have you started writing things about your continuity yet? Like a masterlist? If so I have some questions to ask:
How is the main cast going to look like?
What about the relationships of each characters?
So far the main cast consists of:
The Autobots, with Optimus, Prowl, Jazz, Ratchet, First Aid and the Protectobots, Red Alert, Ironhide, Wheeljack, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Arcee, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Smokescreen, Bulkhead, Hot Rod, the Dinobots, Jetfire, Perceptor, Blaster, and Ultra Magnus
and the Decepticons, with Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and his cassettes, Shockwave, Knockout, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Thrust, Dirge, Ramjet, the Rainmakers, the Constructicons, the Combaticons, the Stunticons, and the Vehicons.
There are a few neutral mechs, made up of former Decepticons. The insecticons, Predaking, Darksteel, Skylynx, Ripclaw, and the HWD + Lightwave are all considered neutral/unaligned
Gonna put the relationship talk under the cut bc there is a lot going on with these guys :]
MegOp is canon. They once cared about each other, but not as much while the war is going on. Optimus is sad, and doesn’t have a whole lot of hope that he’ll ever see the mech that he knew again, and has been focusing on his adoptive sons, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper to try and take his mind off of the relationship he and Megatron once had. Megatron is consumed by rage and paranoia. He’s not in a very good headspace, and has been prolonging the war just to try and be petty and prove to Optimus that he’s the better mech. Meg’s arc is majorly tied to getting him to retire.
Soundwave and Starscream’s relationship with Megatron is complex to say the least. Starscream does not like Megatron. He does not think Megatron is fit to lead at all, and that he’s a bloodthirsty maniac who deserves to be put down. Soundwave, on the other hand, is a hypocrite. He’s loyal to Megatron. He wouldn’t be a very good Amica otherwise. He defends Megatron’s actions with tooth and nail, always excusing them with “it’s for the cause” while calling out Autobots on shitty things they did. Starscream thinks that Soundwave is a suck up.
Soundwave and Shockwave are conjunxes, but their relationship has become a bit strained. Shockwave is not the biggest fan of Megatron, and sees that, logically, there should be someone else in charge of the Decepticons. Maybe not Starscream, but anyone other than Megatron who isn’t outright stupid would be better. The cassettes (and Lightwave) are their delinquent kids.
Starscream and Skyfire were lovers once. Not fully conjunxes, but they almost were. Their relationship started falling apart as the war went on, with Skyfire really not enjoying being part of the ‘cons. Sadly, the Decepticons landing on Earth was Sky’s breaking point. He didn’t want to participate in the destruction of Earth, so he left the ‘cons and became an Autobot. He misses Starscream a lot, and has yet to encounter the seeker on any patrols or missions.
Thundercracker and Skywarp are just trying to be good brothers to Starscream while he processes the divorce.
Knockout and Breakdown are absolutely conjunxes no one can tell me otherwise.
I view the relationship between the Constructicons and the Combaticons differently. The Constructicons are siblings. They treat each other like annoying younger siblings even though they’re all the same age. The Combaticons, however, are like a group of besties. They didn’t really know each other that well before the war, but once the war started and they were put into the Gestalt program together, they hit it off. Blast Off is absolutely trying (and failing) to court Onslaught, while Vortex has some freaky shit going on with First Aid.
Bumblebee, Arcee, and Hot Rod are besties and no one can change my mind
Prowl and Jazz are two smart mechs who become absolute dumbasses around each other. Add Smokescreen into the mix as Prowl’s little brother and you’ve got absolute chaos. Things are on fire and Ratchet and Ironhide are having an aneurism over how crazy they are when working together.
Edit: Astrotrain and Blitzwing are part of the main Decepticon cast too
#I’ve got all the bots and cons down but not any of the humans#I’m sorry I never really found the humans as interesting as the silly alien robots#This is the main cast on earth#I’ve got post war stuff thought of so this is the cast of characters while the war is going on on earth#HDW stands for the Hazardous Warfare Division#They’re my personal blorbos who don’t physically show up in the war-on-earth storyline but their leader Hazard is mentioned-#-offhandedly by Thundercracker when he eventually leaves the Decepticons#The group is basically the Decepticon equivalent of spec. ops without actually being spec. ops#Lightwave is the eldest of Soundwave and Shockwave’s kids and is sadly the disappointment child#She’s traveling around with the HWD#transformers warbound#transformers fan continuity#Do note that I mainly just included the most important relationships and not all of them#I have not actually started writing anything#So far it’s still kinda in the plot planning stage#Let’s pretend answering this ask at school didn’t make me forget that I made AstroBlitz canon to Warbound
