Well would you look at that, not only am I back and kicking, but I've made actual progress!
I'm gonna rebrand this blog at some point, I've been playing around with designs in my free time, but for now, I'm excited to say that I've been counting calories for just over a week and I've already lost 5 pounds because of the change in calorie intake!
I also started going to the small gym at the leasing office of my apartment complex and walking a solid mile after work for a few days now, and it's really making me feel pretty darn good again.
I'm also working on a custom calendar to keep track of my exercising and calorie counts etc, so I'll be posting about that at some point too. For now though, I'm about to fall asleep on the couch with my cat, so I think I'm gonna head off to bed.

I've been putting more focus on taking care of my living space this wk than on exercising, but tonight I had an itch to do a workout. I found this video on the GrowWithJo app for a 15min evening wind down and stretch, and it ended up being perfect! The first 10ish minutes are a super low impact chill workout, and the rest of the video is an extended cool down. I gotta say, I'm feeling amazing right now. I might have to make this a regular addition to my day.

Also, Jo's little doggo was helping out with the stretches for a bit, which was just a cuteness overload๐

I just realized I've goofed. Thursday was a rest day because my foot hurt like crap after the previous dance workout, but then I straight up forgot to workout yesterday. My excuse is that I took the day off work to celebrate being at my current job for 3 years, lol. To be honest, depending on how I'm feeling for the rest of the weekend, I might keep using that excuse till Monday, unless I get an inkling to workout anyway, of course.

I just got home from work, and I've already decided that today is going to be a rest day, courtesy of the fact that I'm ALREADY STARVING. Plus, my haircut was rescheduled from right after work to next week because my hair stylist is sick, so my evening is about an hr longer than I thought it'd be, AND I got permission to take this Friday off of work, so why not celebrate, lol

This is your friendly reminder to listen to your body, it's ok onto bail on a workout if your body is telling you something is wrong!
My initial plan was to do a 10 minute workout while the oven preheated, put my food in the oven afterwards, and then do a 15ish minute workout while my food cooked. I did the 10 minute workout and felt great, got the food in the oven, and found a dance workout that fit just within the time it'd take for the food to cook. Just 2 minutes into the dance workout, however, my stomach started to act up and I realized I was actually really hungry, but I decided to see if I could push on a bit longer. The answer was no, because 2 minutes later, I started getting lightheaded. At that point I told myself I needed to stop, grab a granola bar, and sit down, and that's exactly what I did.
So now I'm still hungry but sitting on the couch waiting for my food to finish cooking so I can eat it, lol.


That's 2 days in a row that I've exercised, and today I was literally squeezing it in since I got home from work late, so I'm feeling pretty proud of myself, and I'm excited to see how long I can keep this streak up!

A lot has happened in my personal life that I'm not gonna get into, but let's just say it hasn't been a great start to the new year. Having said that, I actually felt like exercising again today!

I'm completely drenched in sweat, so I'm off to take a nice long shower while I figure out what the heck to have for dinner.

I just realized I haven't posted on here in a good while, so I wanted to pop on and let anyone that sees this know that I am in fact still alive. The 2nd half of December was full of holiday busy-ness, and then I started out the new year with having to put my childhood dog down, which has, understandably, put me in a full blown depression. I scheduled an appointment to start seeing a therapist the 2nd week of February, so working on my mental health should help me get back into the groove again. I've gone on a couple walks in the freezing cold, and I've recently rediscovered my love of bowling, so I haven't been a complete couch potato at least๐

Day 5 of 30 is done! I've finally gotten back to the point where if I go to take a shower and haven't worked out yet, it physically feels wrong, which I'm so happy for because that's going to help me stay more consistent with working out!

I'm gonna keep this post pretty short since I'm starving but need to shower first, but I just wanna say that I'm so glad I found GrowWithJo's channel and community, it's literally been a life changer for me๐ฅณ

Day 4 of my 30 day challenge is done!

It was mostly dumbbell work, and I have to admit I slowed down most if not all of the exercises. Jo was going to the beat of the music, which is fine, but it was too fast for me to get any kind benefit from the moves, so I slowed down and focused on the strength building instead of the speed. All in all it was a good strength workout though, so it worked out in the end (no pun intended)

It's been a minute, traveling across the country to be in my best friends wedding took priority for a bit there, but I'm back with day three of my 30 day challenge!

I got back home a few days ago and it wasn't until today that I felt like I'm finally almost over the jet lag, so I wanted to get back on track and continue my journey where I left off. I'm pretty proud of myself for taking the time I needed to recover from traveling without letting it drag on too much.
If anyone reading this is struggling to get back into a routine, try telling yourself to just do it for 5 minutes. If after those 5 minutes you genuinely aren't up to it, that's ok. But a lot of times once you get to that 5 minute mark you have the momentum you need to keep going.

Day 2 was thankfully a bit shorter since I got home from work late, but it was still a great workout!

Later this week might be a little tricky to get a good workout in as I'll be traveling, but my best friend is getting married, so I think I can give myself a pass as needed for that๐คช

Meant to post this yesterday, whoops!
How many times have I changed plans? I've lost count at this point, lol, but that whole "workout at least twice a week" obviously didn't work.
Here's my new plan: I got GrowWithJo's app and plan to do a 30 day challenge I found in the list of programs, which I'll start tomorrow.
For today though, I did my go-to 30 minute mood boosting workout, and I gotta say I feel so much better mentally (go figure).

Oops, I started making this post yesterday but then my dinner was ready and I ended up forgetting to post it๐
so here's yesterday's post!
Did I say I'd try to get 3 workouts in a wk? I meant 2-3, lol. Anyway, just got a 2nd workout in for the week! I didn't make it all the way through tho, only about 2/3 of the way, but I'm still proud of myself for doing it anyway!
