Being in gen alpha is like joining someone’s minecraft world when they’ve already filled it up with stuff. There’s not much more to do and explore because whoever was there before you got there first. i hate this feeling to an unhealthy extent

Gen alpha culture is being so used to lying about your age on everything that once you don’t have to lie about your age anymore you aren’t sure whether you actually want to put your real age or not

I get so confused sometimes because it feels like mentally I’m genuinely older than i think but. Will i ever actually know? Until I’m at the age i think I am? And if I DO reach that age will i even act that age??

Gen alpha culture is seeing ppl in older generations saying stuff like “kids these days can’t do x” and feeling horrible that x wasn’t taught to you and thinking you’re a terrible human being for the rest of the day

The gen alpha experience is feeling incredibly self aware compared to all these other people explaining how they were at your age and having this weird blurry mental age where you’re constantly questioning whether you’re mature for your age or just think you are.

What is it with the chromebook trend. like actually.
No one has done it yet at my school but I’ve heard about it everywhere and I’m VERY concerned for some of these people (and the chromebooks)

I was inspired to make this blog by @thatgenalpha. If you see this, hi!
You can call me V or Vesper on this blog. Here I will post about all things Gen Alpha from the perspective of someone born in 2011 (just between Generation Z and Alpha.) Since I'm so passionate on this subject, you'll probably see me posting often here.

The "kids are on their damn phones all the time" conversation has changed in an extremely significant way and I'm not sure people realize it. When kids had flip phones, and even in the early days of smartphones, kids were using their phones to text each other. It was part of an active social life. Now they're using their phones more and more to consume content from influencers or other accounts. It's more passive and it's increasingly what people are doing instead of socializing with each other. This applies to adults too, I just keep thinking about high school students.

Sometimes i wish there was a social media apps that tweens could use that wasn’t incredibly brainrotted and was actually safe for kids. Something like this is probably not possible tbh but it’s worth a thought I guess.

OH MY GOD, THERE'S GEN ALPHAS ON TUMBLR... I WAS BEGINNING TO THINK I WAS THE ONLY ONE... HI!!! What do you think of those people who're constantly on about Gen Alpha? I'm especially talking about the video essays on YouTube about how "Gen Alpha can't read" "Gen Alpha is brain-rotted" "Gen Alpha wants to be grown so bad"... so on, so forth.
FIRST ASK, CHERISHING YOU SO MUCH AHH HIHIHIHI!!!!!
I watch those videos all the time! My general opinion is that those videos are only talking about a portion of Gen Alpha. Whether that’s the majority or the minority, I’m not quite sure, but I’ve definitely seen kids my age reading at like a 3rd grade reading level. I have no idea if it’s the majority or not though since most people I know are like undiagnosed neurodivergent kids with like a college reading level (me 😭)
I do think that being annoyed about that sort of stuff is valid, but I also think that maybe people should actually try to teach kids how to read instead of getting angry at them for not knowing. I have a pretty high reading level, and I think a lot of gen alphas who supposedly can’t read are also very capable of having a high or average reading level if they learn in a way they can understand and enjoy.
The brainrot stuff… ;-; That depends honestly. Brainrot as in “watches 5 seconds of a youtube short and scrolls” as in brainrotted and “obsessing over a ‘weird’ show” as in brainrotted are two very different things. I think that the burning attention span and coping skills kind of brainrot is pretty bad but I’m not very sure of what I would do about it.
Obsessing over a weird show is fine though. I’m a gen alpha that’s currently obsessed with Animation vs Minecraft. I think it’s pretty cool and granted you aren’t just mindlessly absorbing the content and you actually think while you’re watching, it’s not brainrot.
The wanting to be older? VERY SIMPLE REASONS FOR THAT.
First of all, it’s natural that a lot of gen alpha wants to mimic people older than themselves and so they mess with makeup and buy all this expensive stuff since older people have it. (i mean im an outlier since im like incredibly scene irl but GO ON ASTER GO ON) People like to copy things they like. I used to wear cat ears since I liked cats, bad decision i got bullied like hell througout elementary school :crying
Second, I think a lot of parents push their children to just kind of “grow the heck up” or are also influencers themselves and so we feel pressured to act more mature then we actually are. Gen alpha wants to seem better then all of the silly Ipad babies and so they say “no, I’m 22” and buy a ton of expensive skincare when I wish this generation could just… be themselves! (Actually the skincare stuff seems fine granted it doesn’t hurt their skin, i use a moisterizer and that works fine but go to claires not sephora omfg)
in conclusion i think people should stop pressuring gen alpha and start actually trying to lay down the foundations for us to have a good life and not just get mad like “omg sarah get off your ipad” give us puzzles! let us go out with friends! also DONT RECORD YOUR KIDS AND POST THEIR BREAKDOWNS ON THE INTERNET LIKE HOLY HECK THATS A MAJOR PRIVACY VIOLATION. uhhh yeah thanks for coming to my ted talk :)
I didn’t mean to yap that much my bad ;v;

a theory of mine about gen alpha's future
reasoning:
people love to talk about how brainrotted they are, but they almost always dehumanise gen alpha and treat them like they're permanently stupid. for me this has so many parallels to how i constantly feel the need to prove myself to elders due to how my family has treated me like a permanent 5yr due to my autism my whole life. these kids are not stupid, they see your posts about how dumb they are, they see you joking about how they're brainrotted. they are not going to stay toddlers forever, older gen alpha (debatable what date it ends at, but i tend to use 2012) are already teens about to finish secondary school. if all they have to look up to is gen z influencers telling them that they'll be stupid and have a tech addiction their whole life, they'll either end up feeling hopeless, like they genuinely are stupid and should be dehumanised to just 'haha brainrotted child haha so stupid so dumb imagine being under 16 lmaoo' or some other nasty variant. the only thing gen alpha sees their elders viewing them as is stupid, permanent toddlers, and people who can't feel anything
theory!
my theory is that a lot of gen alpha will grow up to become spiteful people due to the way that they have been treated by people they look up to. the same way that we treat them like permanent braindead toddlers will be how they treat gen beta, but with far more spite than we did. they will grow up either feeling the constant need to prove theirselves to their elders and 'not be like the those ipad kids', and copy us and bully gen beta.
we already treat them like dogshit - again, elder gen alpha is around 12 to 15 depending on where you put the date. they are entering online spaces whether you like it or not and constantly see media portraying gen alpha as useless, brainrotted kids. the only content they see is of their fellow kids being made fun of, hated on or again, treated like permanent toddlers. how do you expect a child to develop a normal self worth if they know that everyone around them hates and dehumanises them for something out of their control?
also this is a bit of a stretch but i think it relates to how in the modern world, kids are viewed as unable to think and make decisions. even outside of the newer generation, the norm is to treat kids like annoyances, make jokes about how immature and stupid they are, etc. kids are generally not viewed as real people who can, in fact, read the messages you post about them, and are usually not given the same human rights that we give to adults (e.g, see how people view it as punishment to beat a kid, but if you beat an adult you'd go to prison?)
i think i tend to notice ageism against kids much more because of the way my autism makes me get treated. but that's just my silly opinion. feel free to add your own take in the comments or reblogs if you want

Reminder that AroAllo is not an "adult" identity.
Aromantic allosexuality is not inherently more sexual than alloromantic allosexuality. It can be, but that is for each individual AroAllo to define for themselves, not for you to assume.
If you agree that minors can know they’re homosexual, bisexual, pansexual and whatever else, and if you agree a minor can know they’re ace* or AroAce*, you should also agree that they can know that they’re aromantic and some form of allosexual. AroAllos don’t just pop into existence fully formed at eighteen, or whatever other imaginary line you want to draw in the sand. AroAllo adults also used to be AroAllo minors, and just like that there are also AroAllo minors around existing right now.
Barring minors from finding community and figuring themselves out is still fucked up even if you’re personally ~uncomfortable~ with the community they identify with (or rather the assumptions you make about that community). Get over yourselves.
[*I’m aware that plenty of people don’t agree with that either, but there are also a lot of people who support minors who are ace/AroAce, but freak out when a minor ids as AroAllo, or they act like they can’t possibly exist, and this is about those people.]
