I really want to learn more about different cultures so I’m going to be doing some research about different places and then I will draw my persona in that place + a little blurb about what I learned about that place (including sources)

Suggestions for places are appreciated! It could be anything from a whole country to a very specific building in some random back end alleyway during the 16th century

I also encourage you people reading this to also join in however you deem fit! Draw your persona in place, throw your blorbos in there too while you’re at it!

Anyway I will be starting in comfortable territory which I’ve already researched a fair amount just to get the ball rolling: Victorian England

Most interesting thing about the Sweeney Todd movie in your opinion?

Dude! The twist at the end straight up had my jaw dropped and my pearls clutched! Spoilers below the cut:

When his daughter came out of the chest and he didn’t recognise her I really thought ‘oh he’s going to kill her and be remorseful and regretful about it because that makes sense thematically’ only for him to not kill her. I was like ‘oh well maybe not’ and then to have the woman from the streets who he killed turn out to be the wife he had though was dead, and have it be revealed that Ms. Luckett lied about it‽ aughhh that managed to hurt so much worse and AAAAAAAA.

I Like to think that when the boy came up behind Sweeney and slit his throat, it isn’t that Sweeney didn’t hear him, but rather that he didn’t want to stop him. What reason did he have to live after he killed his own wife with his blade? The very person he treasured most and started his bloody trade to avenge was swallowed whole due to the red on his hands, so what is there left to do but let her killer die?

I did in fact! I will admit I am someone who absolutely loves some good violence in fiction! Give me murder give me bloodshed! This is contrasted with the fact I absolutely hate true crime. There’s a big difference between watching Sweeney Todd kill 5 extras during a musical number and someone killing 5 real people with real families and real lives.

Anyway I have an especially strong fondness towards the comedic method of juxtaposing violent acts with extremely casual or unfitting behaviour or environments. Team Fortress 2 definitely strengthened this fondness. But yea, safe to say that one song where Sweeney was singing melancholically into the window while casually slitting multiple people’s throats made me laugh a few times I’ll admit.

Happy 4th of July!

Today is the day we honor the brave men who made this country happen! People like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln! You’re damn lucky for their work because it’s thanks to them that you’re speaking AMERICAN ENGLISH instead of that communist British english. If they didn’t beat King George to a bloody pulp in the boxing ring on that fateful day our country would surely be in ruins!
