Miroku grinned and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. It had worked before but he had separated from his group for personal business. Miroku thought about her question. What did she need to do? Hm... No, he needed to think clearly. “Ah, just follow my lead...” Miroku bowed slightly, allowing her to walk forward first. “Oh, my name is Miroku” He introduced himself. “Just pretend it’s a lot worse than it is. You’ll do just fine!”

”A warm bed would be nice…” Half muttering to herself. She knew lying wasn’t exactly the best way to get by, especially since it usually caught up with the person in the end. The flutter maiden looking back at him as he continued. Still….perhaps for just one night… “Alright. What do you need me to do?” Giving him her full attention, “What is your name monk?”

Miroku bowed back, hardly visible but one in acknowledgement of his friends motions. “It’s alright. Hopefully this will all be over soon enough...” Miroku decided to stop being a downer for the time and enjoy the small amount of peace they would very rarely get to enjoy since the universe seemed to enjoy spitting darkness towards their particular group. 

“Ah, well I meant you don’t have to keep me company if you would prefer to do something else.” Miroku assured his friend with a small smile. “I really don’t sense anything coming this way...” He sighed deciding to stand up and stretch from his spot that he felt as if he was sitting in for hours. 

The monk rubbed his neck tiredly and yawned then glanced over his shoulder at their sleeping friends and sighed. They looked peaceful and they honestly deserved it. He was going to have to make sure they got to stay in a nice place as soon as possible.

Miroku sat in silence. The sun had gone down hours ago and he had offered to stay up to watch over their camp a bit so that Inuyasha could actually rest from their last battle. Miroku was lucky he came out of it as well as he did but Inuyasha was hit hard. The demon had a large some of jewel shards and was almost all muscle and armor. 

It was a very difficult battle, yet he still came out relatively healthy compared to the hanyou. Of course it should only take him the night to revitalize, but Miroku still felt like he should have done more for his friend. He let out a long sigh, glancing over his shoulder when he heard rustling behind him. He smiled slightly. 

“Shouldn’t you be asleep?”

“Do you sense that too?” Miroku said looking towards the mansion at the head of the village. He had barely known her but he was tired of traveling and sleeping in the woods and the more who agreed with him meant it was more believable as a scam overall. He hoped she would catch his meaning that she play along with the monk in order for it to work. “It’s coming from that huge castle. I’m sure it’s cursed.” he said out loud walking towards it. 

“Sense what?” Looking next to her, she saw a monk was looking towards the large building at the heart of the town. “That place? I’ve heard rumors, but…” Now that the monk was walking towards the castle himself, she wanted to see for herself. As she started walking next to him, “Monk? Do you think it’s truly cursed? Will it affect the rest of the village?”

“I thought I’d keep an eye out for danger.” Miroku sighed softly. “At least until Inuyasha has rested enough.” He leaned back against a tree, looking up at the stars. “It’s only fair since he seemed pretty out of it and it’s getting closer to that time” Miroku responded, eyeing the samurai carefully. He sighed softly. “It’s also not that easy to sleep these days.” He admitted. 

His fingers curled around his cursed hand. It had been weighing on his mind a lot these days, especially since he was using the wind tunnel a lot more than he should be doing. He paused not wanting to weigh more problems on other people. “Nevermind. It’s nothing.” He laughed, a smile wide on his face and shaking his head. “I’m fine. You can do relax... really.”

Miroku simply nodded his head at Lady Kikiyo agreeing to help collect herbs. He knew of many, as it was a major part of his training with Monk Miyatsu. Miroku’s face had a dusting of a blush still on his face as he did as she asked along with a fading hand print on his cheek. He sighed, quite melancholy over being caught touching her and yet at the same time he was glad he did something that risky.

The monk’s face had a light blush on his face and held up his hands in defense, worried she might strike him again. “Alright, my apologies Lady Kikiyo. Please forgive me!” He bowed slightly, eyes looking over her body for a second. He could completely understand why Inuyasha liked her.

{➳} Kikyo simply stared, restraining the urge to sigh. She vaguely wondered what kind of influence he had as he blossomed into a young man. Surely the monks had not wavered from their duties ? Alas, she kept such thoughts to herself. Despite his glaring imperfections, he still had a good heart. And was that not the most important thing ?

“I see. Perhaps we should find a more constructive use for those hands. You are knowledgable about the various healing herbs ? If so, there are many scattered in this clearing. When I return from my cleansing, I will take a look at what you have gathered.” Hopefully with that task, the monk would stay out of trouble.
