a talk shop tuesday question if you're so inclined: What's your favorite piece (art, writing, whatever,) you've created from the year so far? Why?

Hey Journeys! that's a good question and i have so many answers for it kjdsfkjdfsl

haven't posted much writing this year, they're all WIPS in my poor docs folder, but i sure have done a lot of drawing! I think one of my favorites is actually this one i finished yesterday:

i wanted to try something different and work on painting a piece with minimal details. I wanted to get the impression of the suit and hair without falling into the rabbit hole of rendering, and try out a new visual trick with the smears and soft edges. But I'm really happy with how this has turned out! I like the simplicity of the colors and composition, and im really enjoying the gouache brush and smear tool. But the the hair was probably my favorite thing to work on honestly :)

I’m not doing a thing.”   “That thing where you refuse to acknowledge how cool you are, so you flip it around instead.”  Something sparks in Michelle's chest. "I don't do that," she mumbles. "That's not something I do." Peter fixes her with a look that she can only barely make out in the darkness of the room, a fond whisper of, “it’s totally is,” that really leaves her with no choice but to elbow him in the ribs. -- Or, Peter and MJ take on teenagehood.

We’re thinking about hosting a first time special month-long celebration for Spider-Man Day 2025 throughout August—and we’d love your input before we swing into action!

The idea is to dedicate each week of August to a different theme—broad ones like like "Favorite Spider-Person", "Best Spidey Adaptation", and more (we're still working out the details). We’d be welcoming all kinds of fan contributions: GIFs, art, fanarts, edits, fanfics, graphics, and other creative content from across all Spider-Man or/and Spider-related media—comics, shows, movies, games, and everything in between.

Peter Parker has been Spider-Man long enough to know that not every battle has a happy ending.

He’s been through enough to know that innocent bystanders became victims. That people woke up that morning to get ready for work and drop their kids off at school and kiss their spouses goodbye walked out of their homes and never returned home.

That, despite their best efforts, sometimes even the Avengers couldn’t magically fix things. There was no solution that fit everything, and even sometimes Earth’s mightiest heroes get there too late, or there’s not enough of them, and people don’t make it.

It was part of the job.

He was never going to be able to save everyone. There were going to be times when the mission was unsuccessful. Despite his best efforts, there were still casualties. 

It just never got easier.

I needed to get this very, very visually amped up and really immersed for the audience to understand how much it meant for them not to win over the other, but to be back together, all of them.”

The eyes widen, then turn guarded, then, all at once, flicker with recognition. The guy slumps. Not just ‘a guy’, but the spitting image of her dead fucking husband.

“You’re Michelle,” he finally says, not a question.

Then, tiredly:

“Shit.”
