Veni, vidi, vici. In hanc mundum venimus, videmus quod desideramus, et capimus quia potentia nostra ius nobis dat.
(Success is measured by power, intelligence, and money. Rome is an empire of conquerors and warriors, business men and money games. The most valuable among us are the most powerful. We have money, influence, intelligence. We run the businesses both above and below that keep Rome running. My colleagues think the same way, and I was taught this by my father.
A person’s value is measured by their power. The most valuable Romans are the ones who can sway and control the most. I rule a notable portion of Rome’s criminal world as second in command of my family under my father’s lead, so I hold a significant amount of power. That is why I have more worth than others, because I have power, intelligence, and money. My family is of very old blood, we can trace our lineage back nearly two thousand years and there is even a handful of demigods in it, I was born into this power and have only grown it. In fact I will only gain more worth once my father is gone and I am head of the family.
I suppose my philosophy is the same as all the men who have led my family before me, and can be summarized by a very old phrase. I came, I saw, I conquered. We come into this world, see what we desire, and we take it because our power gives us the right to.)

Hm.
(Hm. Well for starters do not let idiots trick you into thinking a wine with any more than a gram of sugar per liter is dry. More is at best off dry which is certainly not the same. You want to make sure you get a good harvest, a bad harvest will ruin it no matter how much it is processed. I do not know the growing conditions or history of your world so ensuring it is a good harvest is entirely up to you.
Some factors can cause a dry wine to taste sweet, so if you want no sweetness you should avoid wines with an alcohol content above 14%, notable glycerol, or a very fruity flavor. Our brains associate fruit with sweetness so if it is very fruity it will likely still taste sweet even if it is bone dry. You will commonly find all three of those factors in wines made from grapes from regions with long, warm, sunny growing seasons.
Most white and red wines are dry, but absolutely no dessert wines are so avoid those entirely. Sparkling wines can be either so make sure you always check the labels. But for your first taste of dry wine I would say avoid the sparkling ones because the carbonation can be off putting and adds new layers to the texture of the drink.
Do not mix anything else into it that is an offense to the drink.)

OOC: I forgot to reblog this to here sooner, but I did art of Octavia!
I have done art of my Doc Ock Octavia! She’s from universe 1815135 and Rome’s resident arsonist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The burn scars on her left side are because she ended up getting caught in an electrical explosion. She’s got an incredibly strong healing factor but it doesn’t prevent scarring, especially when the wounds get infected which the explosion burns did.
Said healing factor is the reason her tentacles are segmented color wise. She can regrow them if they get severed and the new growth starts out very pale before darkening. The darker a section, the older it is.

Non video quis possit Romam substituere. Imperium Sinense? Si nos cadimus, illi nobiscum cadunt. Muta destructio certa. Abierunt.
(I do not see who could possibly replace Rome. The Chinese Empire? If we go down, they go with us. Mutually assured destruction. The Amazons never leave their land and are a minor power. Rome destroyed everyone else. Their gods are dead, their land ours. They are gone.)

(It is not delusion if it is true. The only people who do not agree with me about hybrid’s place in the world are fringe groups who will never actually get anywhere. Those with power, the ones whose opinions actually matter, are also those who produce and pay for hybrids. You will not see a Roman in a seat of power who does not have at least one hybrid. It is simply the way of the Empire. Roman’s have always crushed and used those weaker, lesser, than us.)

Idcirco existunt.
(It is simply fact. Humans created hybrids, made them to serve purposes. Gladiator battling, decoration, utility work, every one of them was designed to serve their creator or whoever their creator chooses to sell them to. That is why they exist.)

(Obviously it was for the best, the healing factor our father gave her saved her life. If she had not thrown a tantrum and run she would have gotten to serve the family uniquely. She owes him, owes this family for the very fact that she is still here to fight us. Eventually she will come to realize that.)

(So you are a hybrid as well? I am unsurprised, creatures tend to flock with their own kind. But yes, hybrids are lesser than both. Humans have rights, animals have welfare laws, hybrids have nothing. They are simply property from the moment their code is no longer fully human. Octavia has not been human since she was six years old and our father decided she would be more useful as a test subject for some new serums than as a sick little runt.)

(Of course I am talking about Octavia. She is my sister, what few human genes she has left show our relation. It is the fact that her coding is only partially human now that renders her inhuman. Not human, not animal, lesser than both.)

Talis spiritus, me sororem meam cum pueri essemus admones. Tam energetica erat in illis annis primis, cum adhuc humana esset, quamvis tam aegra.
(Such spirit, you remind me of my sister when we were children. She was so energetic in those early years, when she was still human, despite being so sickly.)
