my biggest pet peeve is when I call a boy pretty and about six people have their necks swivel all the way around on their shoulders exorcist style just to tell me that boys aren’t pretty they’re handsome

If you care at all about POC, about sex workers, about trans people, or any other marginalized people, don’t hug cops or give them high fives, don’t pose for photos with them, don’t say thank you to them at protests. I don’t care if your dad, best friend, or sister is a cop. I don’t care if you swear they’re one of the “good ones”. They still chose to join a violent gang that’s terrorizing and murdering and raping marginalized people with impunity.

why do straight people think the correct reaction to barry manilow (or any gay person) coming out is “omg i knew it!!!!!” or “no surprise there!!!!!!”

like that’s not … a compliment you’re not being progressive or respectful in any way by telling a gay person that you “knew it”

being closeted is very scary and coming out is very scary and takes a lot of strength and bravery and mental preparation so like……”i knew it!” or turning to someone else and saying “i told you so!” is extremely disrespectful to the person coming out to you, who leading up to this moment, had to go through a lot of mental back and forth and then decide that they trust you. + letting someone know that their time closeted was, in your mind, useless because you Knew It is….incredibly nasty

so like……stop with the “i knew it” shit. be supportive, say thank you for their trust, be kind. it’s not difficult
